Page drop shadow broken on IE - PC

I'm trying to make a proper page dropshadow and got it work
on the Mac except for IE on the Mac. There the shadow is missing.
On a PC its bizarre. The shadow stops and doubles up on the bottom.
I'm out of ideas...
TIA!

Yes, exactly. Works if the raster is not converted to a symbol. I discovered this myself several months ago, and was too busy completing the assignment to ask myself why. But here the subject rears its mysterious head again.
Anyone: What possible explanation might there be for a clipping group containing a symbol (in this case made from an embedded raster image) to fail when a drop shadow is applied?
If the masked image is not converted to a symbol, a drop shadow can be applied to the clipping group (must be at the group level, not the image level or the masking object level). This is true whether the image is linked or embedded. But make that image a symbol and poof! No visible shadow... no matter at what object level one tries to apply it. EVEN if the shadow is applied at the LAYER level, nada.

  • How do I add a drop shadow to the page in Muse?

How can I apply a drop shadow to the page template in Muse? If I place a rectangle it will not change shape according to the page size. Is this a feature?

    Hello,
You're most possibly referring to "Favicons", and they can be added in a Muse site from the "File -> Site Properties -> Layout" section. Check this screenshot: http://jingsite.businesscatalyst.com/jing/2013-09-05_2332.png

  • Pages, printing: still problem with drop shadows . Frustrated.  :

    Hi -
I've spent most of the afternoon trying to get my Pages document to print properly.
I am experiencing the drop-shadow issue :heavy black clump instead of artfully placed& delicate. Printouts do not resemble what is onscreen or in preview etc.
Having read through the forums; the links; the (cruddy) Pages Help and manual; installed new HP offficejet all-in-one software...
I still get the same result.
Most of the threads don't quite fit my situation.
For instance: Several comments have to do with older versions of things. Because I do have Pages 2, I am on Tiger OS X10.4.7 , upgrading is not my problem.
One of the threads had fairly explicit directions to make a new filter in Coloursync which led all the way to a "change resolution" menu but didn't offer advice on what resolution
    modification to make. rrrrrrrr..
I am pretty lost at this point and really just want to print out a document that looks like what I have designed.
    What? How? Help! Please?

tried to print directly from Pages
If printing directly from Pages does not work then it must be an aspect of your printer. Some printers have a black and white setting that might not read shadows (which are more like greyscale) With the doc opened press ⌘ +p and browse through the options of the printer's pulldown menu and see if there are any settings that might be incorrect. (Check, in particular, your 'color sync' and 'print settings' options in the pull down menu.)

  • Drop shadows, pages etc.

    1. Can you create drop shadows for text from within Encore? I don't see an option for that in the character panel.
    2. How do I create a second page for my chapters? When I tried to do this it took my text from the main menu with it.
    3. How do I delete a page?
    4. How do I import a still image to put on the menu as just part of the picture without making it a menu or button item?
Thanks for all your help with these several questions. This is my first project since coming over from DVD Studio Pro to Premiere CS6.

Encore has quite a few menu editing functions built in, but I much prefer to select the menu and use "Edit in Photoshop."

  • Master page objects with drop shadows crossing over spreads

    Mac 10.5.4 - INDesign CS3
I have a book file that is giving me a pretty hard time. There are several master page spreads that do not show as spreads in the book file. The left page from one set of masters with the right page from another set. There is a grouped row of circles that has drop shadow applied that appears on several master spreads. This is built as two groups that meet in the gutter to give the appearance of a row all the way across the spread. When the group is on the gutter between the two pages of the master spread, The object will show up on the both pages of the book spread, on top of the data from the left page master. If we shut off the drop shadow, no problem. If we move the group 0p5 away from the gutter no problem. The problem is that in the end we want this element to have a drop shadow and to run into the gutter.
Does InDesign count the spread of the object effect as part of the object itself? That seems like what is happening. Is there a fix (work around) for this?

The easiest workaround I know of is to paste the object with the drop shadow inside another box such that you can clip it at the gutter. We've cursed this "feature" for years.

  • Using InDesign CS6, why does a drop shadow applied to a text box, cause a photo on the same page to

I thought it was just a screen appearance so I made a pdf and the photo is lighter here too.  I've never had this issue with CS5.5 or earlier.  Drop shadows were able to be applied to one object without affecting others on the page. Is it a bug? Is there a setting I'm missing?  Thanks!

Overprint preview didn't stop the lightening of the photo.
A google search turned up the suggestion to change the transparency blend space to RGB, which worked in InDesign.  When I make the pdf (no color conversion) it looks ok. But when turning on Output Preview in Acrobat, the photo lightens again.  Weird and frustrating - I'm not sure what the final output will look like.
Is Transparency Flattener set at High res an option?
    I appreciate your help!

  • Drop shadow from one master appearing on a page with a different master CS5

I have a series of curriculum books that make use of two different page styles controlled by two masters. On occasion in the books, the two masters appear side by side in a spread. Both masters contain similar background graphics but one has more side margin than the other.  In the instance where the side margin appears on the left hand page, the drop shadow from a background element on the full page master appears on the bigger margin page. The actual object that has the shadow is not there, but the shadow is. This only happens when the margin is on the left; the shadow does not appear when the masters are side by side in a spread and the wide margin is on the right.  See attached image.
I can split the pages apart and the shadow goes away, but this gets to be a pain when text reflows and I have to change the pages around.  Any idea how I can keep this ghosted effect from appearing where it isn't supposed to be?
I'm on CS5 on an Intel Mac running Leopard.
    Thanks.

    Lots of cross posting...
Check the position of the edge of the cropped frame. I had a problem when it wasn't dead on the spine and the frame had the shadow applied...
Further investigation pasting the shadowed frame into another and cropping that reproduces your error, but good news, I think. If you select the cropped frame and pick a proxy point that is supposed to be on the spine, then subtract an infinitesimal amount, like .0001 from the x coordinate to move it left, or add the same if you need to move the right half right, ID will round the result back to the original dimension, but the ghost will disappear.
At least it seems to work for me on two-page lettersize spreads working with rulers in inches.
I think this is a bug, and I think we've discussed it before and I stumbled on the same solution last time.

  • Having a problem: Placing image or putting drop shadow on rectangle causing entire page to lighten up.

I don't know how to word this properly, so I'm sorry if I'm doing this all wrong! I'm having a problem with my document in indesign. I have placed a jped image on the page to serve as the background image. I did this on the master page. I first noticed this problem when I was trying to put a .psd image onto the page. When I did, it would cause the entire page to dramatically brighten! I finally gave up and moved on, and now I ran into the problem again when I created a new rectangle box. I put a drop shadow effect on the box and when I did this, it also made the entire page lighten up. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem??
    Thanks so much!

Whenever you add a transparency effect such as drop shadow over another image, especially a grayscale image, InDesign changes how the page is rendered to reflect what it will look like when printed. As I understand it, nothing has changed but the display. Choose View > Overprint Preview to avoid such surprises and get a more accurate representation of what you'll see when printed when colors are separated. If your document is going to be output to PDF or SWF, choose Edit > Transparency Blend Space > Document RGB instead of Document CMYK.

  • How do I remove the drop shadow from the value labes on my bar chart in Pages?

How do I remove the drop shadow from the value labes on my bar chart in Pages?

As far as I know, you must use brute force in the index.xml file describing the document.
Search the descriptor of your values labels
    It starts with : <sf:SFCBarSeriesValueParagraphStyleProperty>
and delete the three items describing the shadow.
    I highlighted it with red.

  • Drop Shadow of Page on Browser background

I see how I can change the color of the browser background, but is it possible to have a drop shadow effect where the page ends and the browser background begins?
    Thanks, Leslie

lnicole - This can be done with a trick.
You know how to make the page background match the browser background. To give the Page a shadowed look, you need to enlarge your page a little more than the shadow you want. Next, you must place a rectangular graphic the size of your original page on top of the Page and in the background of everything you have on the page (i.e. send it to the back). Make this large graphic the same color as your Page and Browser, and then give it the shadow you want.
The result on the published page in your browser is a shadowed background, seemingly for the entire page.
I hope I’ve explained this clearly enough. -Fabe

  • Drop Shadows Not Exporting On a Single Page in 1.3

    Hi guys,
I have a trifold I've made and while exporting for my printer, I lose the drop shadows on the inside page (page 2). There are fewer drops shadows on the first page, and that side prints properly. The only difference between the two pages aside from the amount of drop shadows; is that most drop shadows are jpgs on page 2, and the outside page has only basic shapes. These same shapes show up on page 2 as well, but doesn't have drop shadows (therefore ruling out that it's because I have jpgs). I have to export it as a PDF 1.3 (Adobe 4) because that's what my printer specified with me, hence the only reason I'm running into transparency issues such as this. I'm running CS6 with Adobe Acrobat X Pro.
    Thanks,
    Mitch

The objects that have drop shadows on page 2 are mostly jpgs, sorry for the confusion.

  • IWeb '08 gutted my website. Images are gone. No drop shadows. Ugly!

I updated to iWeb '08 after running the latest iWeb '08 software update. I am running a 24 in. Core2Duo iMac. After installing the update, I double-clicked on the Domain icon in my user/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and waited while the program converted my website that had been created with iWeb '06 and published to my .Mac account. Everything looked fine in iWeb. I added a graphic to a page and pressed the Publish button. After a long delay while the entire site was uploaded, I was able to visit my site and discovered that dozens of graphic elements were no longer visible. If the item is a hyperlink, the link still works, phantom-like, if I click on the spot where the item should be.
Also, there are no longer any drop shadows. Reflections still appear, however.
I ran some tests, creating page items by importing, dragging, copying and pasting, and creating shapes from the shape menu. The image items appeared normally in iWeb, but did not show up at all after publishing to the site. Shape primitives did appear online. Transparency, reflection, rotation all worked normally on the shapes, but drop shadows did not. The shadows appeared in the iWeb window, but disappeared when the page was published.
Please visit what's left of my site at www.peterweisz.com and see the damage for yourself. Fortunately, I have a back-up copy of my old iWeb 06 Domain file. Short of de-installing iWeb 08 and reinstalling iWeb 06, what can I do to remedy this problem? Evedently iWeb '08 is broken bigtime.
    Thank you for your help.

Can only endorse that. My observations with one of my iWeb sites:
Safari 3.0.4 (and previous betas): color management (?) - take a look at this site: http://shivaduo.jan-groh.de - Text and image frames were created with exactly the same web safe color (990033), but they differ a lot.
Firefox 2..., IE 6, Camino 1.5, Shiira: no shadows, (some) no reflections, (all) horizontally broken lines in reflections of frames, (Windows browsers) fonts (Trebuchet MS) get changed (worked perfectly before with iWeb 1... on exactly the same computer).
Is there any remedy to this aestheical disaster (iWeb 2 was the main reason for me to switch to iLife '08)?
I've already three bug reports to apple. They've made crap out of a fine little app...

  • Drop Shadows in Print Module

    Hello!
Maybe this is not a feature but should be. I have a grid of 3x3 photos on a 13x19 page. I would like to add a simple soft drop shadow to set the pics off the page a bit.  Is that feature there and I can't see it?
If not please add this feature. It's sill being ready to print but have to export a JPG to PS to add a drop shadow.
Also a nice drop shadow to the Identity plate text would be nice. A work around was dropping a tiff from PS of the text with the drop shadow into the Identity plate box. But that is extra work.
    Thanks
    Max

If you use a transparent image the shadow is around the bounded box, a square or a rectangle. You need to put the shadow in your graphic and save for web.
If you use a shape in AE it will go around the shape. Shapes are limited in Edge.

  • Photoshop Elements 7:  Newbie Needs Drop Shadow Help, Please

    Hello.
I'm brand new to Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 and need help with the Drop Shadow feature, please.
I've read the documentation, but it's not crystal clear to me, so maybe someone can guide me through it.
I want to create text on a blank white canvas, and add a little bit of drop shadow to it. That's all I want to do--plain and simple.
I can create the text, but I can't for the life of me find any drop shadow options.
The documentation I'm using is the on-line, web-based help. I type in Drop Shadow in Search, and select Add Text to a Slide.
The third step says, "In the Properties palette, set any of the following options" and then offers some options, including Drop Shadow and Drop Shadow Color.
I'll be darned if I can locate the Properties palette. Obviously, I'm not well-versed with Photoshop, so if anyone can just steer me towards this feature, I'll take things from there.
I know this is probably rock-bottom basic, but I'm stumped. Thank you!
    J. Danniel

I need a lot more help with this than I thought.
The problem I'm having is this: After creating the drop shadow effect, when I try to save the image as a transparent GIF, it quite simply.... looks horrible.
Here is what I'm doing in detail:
    1. New/Blank File.
    2. Blank File is set to transparent. (Is this the right way to make a transparent GIF?)
    3. Creating text.
    4. Cropping text.
    5. Selecting drop shadow effect.
Now, here's where I get confused. Do I just select File/Save As, or File/Save For Web?
When I just use File/Save As, and select the GIF format, the drop shadow effect in the final file looks horrible when I embed the image into a web page. The text looks good, and the file is transparent, but the effect is ugly.
When I try to use Save for Web, there is a Before/After screen. The Before side looks decent; the After screen looks horrible, too.
So, now I don't know what to do. Can you or anyone guide me through this a bit further, please? Thank you! Jd
