PAGE FORWARD/BACK ARROWS ARE INOP

PAGE FORWARD/BACK arrows left of address bar are inoperative (dim!). All attempts to PAGE FORWARD/BACK (return) to previously viewed page(s) are ineffective.

Click the Firefox button, go to Add-ons, then Plugins and disable the following:<br><br>
* Fun Web Products Plugin<br><br>
* My Web Search<br><br>
Both of these are adware/spyware and cause performance issues in Firefox.
Next, click the Extensions menu link (above Plugins where you are) and remove the "Ask Toolbar".
If the problem persists, please do the following:<br><br>
#Click '''Help '''| '''Restart with Add-ons disabled'''.<br><br>
#In the next menu which appears, checkmark: "'''Reset toolbars and Controls'''".<br><br>
#Finally, click the button called "'''Make changes and restart'''".
Just in case you weren't aware of it, you can right click the Back or Forward buttons to get a list of sites visited. If you'd like to see the return of the arrow on the Back button, install this add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/backforward-dropmarker/
Last but not least, some of your plugins are seriously out of date which exposes your system to exploits. Please visit the [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/ Plugins Check] page and update where necessary.

  • I've downloaded firefox 4, but it does not have the orange firefox bar at top left and I do not have any page forward/back arrows...why not? in English

    The opening page does not show the orange bar that is supposed to hide my choices. How do I move back and forth between pages as there are no back and forward arrows at top left anymore.
    Also I cannot view the html or web address of the page I am working on to see if it is a secure site (ie for money transactions)
    or to copy the web address to send to another person.
    thanks, colette

    You're welcome

  • What happened to the drop down menu on the navigation bar that showed previous pages visited? It was to the right of the "forward/back" arrows.

    To the right of the forward/back arrows there was a drop down arrow that would allow you to see the last several stops you had made after doing a search. This was very handy for going back and forth between articles, etc. '''I used it all the time and want it back. '''If this version of Firefox doesn't have it, please tell me how to download the previous version that did have it. Thanks.

    The Back/Forward button drop-down arrow marker was removed from Firefox.
    To get the tab history drop-down list, you can:
    *right-click the Back/Forward button
    *HOLD down the left-click mouse button on the Back/Forward button until the list appears (about 1 second)
    *Add back the drop-down marker by installing this Add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/backforward-dropmarker/

  • Address/Location bar, forward-back buttons are not shown

    Address/Location bar, forward-back buttons are not shown in my browser. How can I make them visible?

    If the menu bar is hidden then press F10 or hold down the Alt key, that should make the "Menu Bar" appear
    * Make sure that the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
    * If items are missing then open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
    * If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar
    * If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.

  • Repositioning the forward/back arrows.

    Hello all,
    Can't work out how to move them but would anyone know if it is posible to reposition the forward / back arrows on the basic Safari menu bar?   I keep finding myself hitting the red button in error.   Somewhere under 'edit' would be about right.

    SOLVED
    Not having used it for years, I couldn't find the tool bar

  • In the Navigation toolbar, the Forward/back buttons are dimmed, and the URL bar has "Search Bookmarks and History"

    The Forward and Back buttons are dimmed and don't work, and "Search Bookmarks and History" is in the URL bar. Also, I sometimes find blank pages with "Search Bookmarks and History" in the URL bar after visiting some websites.

    No, no need to remove other SQLite files in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder]
    Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See:
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
    * [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
    If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • Constant message pop up when trying to back up a page with back arrow - "To display this page, Firefox must send information that will repeat any action (such as a search or order confirmation) that was performed earlier."

    To display this page, Firefox must send information that will repeat any action (such as a search or order confirmation) that was performed earlier. Pop up message comes up when trying to use back arrow.

    You can't suppress that alert.
    You get an alert about resending POST data if you go back to a page that was previously requested from the server by submitting form data via a POST form. The only way that Firefox can make sure to get the same page is by resending that POST form. Firefox doesn't know what that form data means, so Firefox asks for confirmation before resending that form data as such an action can cause you to repeat an action and buy another item or post a message another time.
    The only way to prevent that pop-up is not to use the Back button, but to open links from a page that was requested from a server by sending a POST form in a new tab (window) with a middle-click or a Ctrl + left-click. Then you can close that tab or window to go back.

  • The little forward and back arrows are gone

    I don't know what they're called. Up in the left corner under the red/yellow/green dots, there are the arrows that allow you to move back or forward between webpages.
    Well, those 2 arrows have disappeared. Where did they go? What did we do? How do we get them back?!
    Thanks

    Hmmm... I don't know how they disappeared, but you should be able to get them back by going under the "View" menu and selecting "Customize Address Bar." This will display available buttons that you can drag to where you want them.
    Let us know how this goes.

    * If, on Windows, in Firefox 3.6 the menu bar is hidden then press and hold the Alt key down or press F10, that should make the "Menu Bar" appear

  • Why does Safari 5.1.7 have no forward-back arrows

    I downloaded Safari for my iMac 10.6.8 but this version has no arrows on the toolbar. Why? How do you go back a page?  I dropped using Lion because it does not load properly on my 2008 i-Mac and some of my older software is incompatible.

    I'd suggest checking View>Customize Toolbar to see if you can drag them back into place.  They're part of the toolbar's default set, but might have gotten knocked off somehow.
    Good luck

  • The page forward/backward arrows have disapperared - how can they be returned?

    Arrows @ top left for movement to previous screen have disappeared

    I'm running 10.8 and Safari 6.0.2 so this might not apply to you exactly but, in that setup: in View on the menu bar is a setting for Show Toolbar. If it says "Hide Toolbar" then the toolbar is showing. If it says "Show Toolbar", it is not showing (so click on that and it will make the toolbar appear).  If only certain pieces of the toolbar are missing, use View/Customize Toolbar.

  • Forward / back buttons are missing

    Hi
    I know that this topic was discussed in
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?forumid=65&catid=451&threadid =1214168&highlight_key=y&keyword1=back.
    And there is a link to solution. Unfortunately, it is not quite
    clear to me where to find the solution.
    Can anyone help
    Thanx
    Lena

    c'mon, lena, don't give up. you're almost there.
    ClubHans is right on the money.
    it sounds like you didn't go far enough into whtbar.js;
    you're by the "Show Navigation Component, " right? gotta go lower.
    like lines 808 and 827 on my whtbar.js. (plus, it really helps if
    you use a text editor that has line numbers; i use a trial copy of
    texpad, which is better than notepad:
    http://www.textpad.com/).
    look for
    else if(sType=="avnext" (line 806 on my whtbar.js)
    just below should be
    var svTitle="Next Topic"; (line 808); this is what needs to
    be edited—whatever's in the double quotes. the same with the
    var svTitle line after
    else if(sType=="avnprev").
    good luck, my friend.

  • Missing/forward&back arrows/line with-file,edit,view,history,bookmarks,tools,help, i need them

  • Where are the forward/back, refresh,etc- f11 didn't help nor did dragging from the left of the 'y' as suggested---help?om

    Do not have the page forward/back arrows, refresh icon, etc in my toolbar. Saw where this has happened on your page & recommendation was to 'drag' from the left of vertical bar next to the 'Y' in Yahoo- didn't work. Also said to hit the F11 key for Firefox users- didn't work.

    Do you have the orange Firefox button, which is an abbreviated menu?
    If you have no menus ''and'' no toolbars, check that you're not in full screen mode. Use the F11 key to switch between full screen and normal modes.
    To reset your menus and toolbars, you can use Firefox's Safe Mode.
    First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
    Next, close Firefox, hold the Shift key on the keyboard, and restart. You should get a dialog with various reset options. The only one to check is toolbars. More info: [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode Safe Mode].
    Does that help?
