Page Length Limitation
I would like to know if there is any page length limitation in a PDF page. I was told that it is 34 inches. Is this true?

If we lower the ppi from 300 to 100, the PDF page can be bigger and longer.
Has anyone heard about the PDF page pixel limitation?
Never heard of it no.
BKYCHAN wrote:
Besides, is there way to get around the PDF viewer limitation, i.e. 200 inches X 200 inches, such as using Acrobat 9?
200" is it. I'm not sure what applications can build a document bigger than that (by much).
InDesign even has a 216x216 limit (although export to PDF only allows the 200x200 size max).

Apparent page AREA limitation when printing to PDF?
In the process of producing posters for technical presentations, I have many times "printed to PDF" - typically from CorelDraw - with page sizes as large as 42" x 72". Until a couple of months ago, I was doing so with Acrobat 9 Pro under Windows XP.
Now I'm on a newer machine with Acrobat X Pro under Windows 7 64-bit. I tried to create such a PDF today at 42" x 72", using the same procedure as always, but without success - didn't ever see the usual dialog for selecting the PDF file name and destination. I tried it with a smaller page size - 36" x 72" - and it worked exactly as expected.
I embarked upon a little exploration to see, for a given page width, the maximum page length I could use before it wouldn't create a PDF. Here's what I observed:
15" x 198.8" works, but 15" x 198.9" does not
20" x 149.1" works, but 20" x 149.2" does not
36" x 82.85" works, but 36" x 82.86" does not
42" x 71.01" works, but 42" x 71.02" does not
Note that, for all of these cases, things cease to work when the area becomes just slightly greater than 2,982 square inches.
I tried some of the same page sizes for printing to PDF from a different application (Autodesk Inventor), and found the same results. It works when the page area is at or below 2,982 square inches, but fails when the area is slightly greater than that. When it fails when printing from Inventor, in addition to not seeing the usual dialog for selecting the PDF file name and destination, I'm also presented with the error message, "Could not start print job".
Does anyone have knowledge of this issue? I have searched and - so far - failed.Bump.
I can add now that this system has been upgraded to Acrobat XI Pro.
The problem still persists, with exactly the same behavior observed as before. I can generate a 42" x 71" page, but not a 42" x 72" page.
When trying to create a 42" x 71" page, it works correctly from CorelDraw, Autodesk Inventor, and MicroSoft PowerPoint.
When trying to create a 42" x 72" page:
CorelDraw - nothing happens.
Autodesk Inventor - receive error message - "Could not start print job".
MicroSoft PowerPoint - receive error message - "Windows cannot print due to a problem with the current printer setup." (and more - see attached image). -
Create pdf from web page - auto scaled page length
I'd like to capture LONG web pages to pdf without acrobat breaking the content into several letter size pages. I used to be able to do this in acrobat 8 and the page length would automatically scale to fit the contents. This was accomplished by leaving the option to "Scale WIde Contents to fit page" UNchecked, but this doesn't work now in version 9. Any ideas?
Thanks!I tested this in Acrobat X and the exact same issue occurs

Create multiple page lengths in CSS
Hi,
I am in the middle of a rather large site that has different
sized pages. Normally I would set up maybe 3 or 4 divs (eg
"pageHolderSmall", "pageHolderMedium" etc ) with varying height
lengths in my style sheet to allow for different page lengths and
then use that particular div on each particular page.
This time however, I have way too many pages with wildly
varying lengths and so can't use this system.
What can I do? I tried using height: auto; but that doesn't
work in mozilla...
I'd really appreciate any help.
Thanks
NicholasWhat exactly are you trying to accomplish? A properly written
and formatted
html page will simply be as long as it's content. What
benifit is derived
from specifying a height?

Web Service URL length limits, LV2013 vs LV2012
(* CROSS POST: http://lavag.org/topic/18435-web-service-url-length-limits-lv2013-vs-lv2012/ *)
(* Please reply in this forum. I have marked the other thread to put replies here. *)
Has anyone noticed a reduction to the limit on URL length for Web Services between LV versions 2012 and 2013?
Under LV2012, a RESTful web service appears to accept URL with lengths at least as long as 4096 characters. With LV2013, the max URL length appears to be 511 characters for both RESTful and Project Item web services. Unfortunately for me the project I just converted trips over this issue. My goal with posting this query to here is to improve my understanding of this limitation before I decide how best to modify my code. Certainly using POST rather than GET with a long URL is an option, but again, I'm looking to understand the change in limitation before I choose a solution.
To illustrate I have attached three mostly identical projects which demonstrate the issue. In each case the project contains a webservice consisting of a single VI, "ComputeLength", which takes a String as an input parameter and which outputs the length of the string. The three projects are as follows.
1. LV2012 RESTful web service.
2. LV2013 RESTful web service.
3. LV2013 Project item web service.
The web service contains a single VI. For the RESTful examples, the web service is started by selecting Deploy from the Build specification right click menu. For the Project Item example, the web service is started by selecting Start from the MyComputer/WebService right click menu. The use of this example is demonstrated with the following URL:
(note that the port is 8080 for the two RESTful examples and is 8001 for the Project item web service if used in Debug mode, which is the default for the above instruction.)
http://localhost:8080/webservice/computelength?string=1234567890
And the output looks like this.
<Response>
<Terminal>
<Name>StringLength</Name>
<Value>10</Value>
</Terminal>
</Response>
To see the issue, extend the string parameter such that the URL contains more than 511 characters beyond the port number. For example something like this, http://localhost:8080/webservice/computelength?string=1234567890123456789012345678901234567890....(keep repeating)
For the LV2012 example the string parameter may be at least as long as 4000 characters, which I've demonstrated using Chrome as my browser. For both of the LV2013 examples the URL is limited to 511 characters after the localhost and the port number.
Anyone know whether this is a bug or this is an intentional design change? How about whether the URL length limit is configurable?
I am also consulting NI tech support and will report back their response.
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks,
Martin

This is Brian in Applications Engineering from National Instruments. I am following up regarding the 511 character limit in your Web Service HTTP request following the port number. After some research I've figured out that the issue is related to a default web server setting called "LimitUri," which limits the maximum length of a URL. The default setting is 512 characters which is why we are seeing this issue.
There are multiple ways of changing the URL length limit depending on how you are using your web service. If you are publishing the web service using the Application Web Server then modify "C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\Shared\NI WebServer\NIWebAppServer.conf" and add "LimitUri 4096" to the end of the file without the quotes.
If you are running the Debug Web Server by just clicking start on the web service then modify "C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2013\resource\webserver\niwsdebugserver.conf" and add "LimitUri 4096" to the end of the file without the quotes. -
Item number field length limitation?
A non-SAP client is presenting a business proposal to a SAP customer and what they want to know is what is the limitation on Item numbers for products for a manufacturing company running SAP ERP? No, we cannot ask the customer, yet!
I know the SAP is highly customizable but is there a field length limitation or anything else you can tell me?
Many thanks!

Memo length limitations on INSERT SQL query
Hello,
I want to save an HTML page as cache for a dynamic page in an Access 2003 database. It works OK as long as page length is less then 5000 and some chars, but doesn't register anything if length is for example 6000 chars long.
If copy the same page source manually, it is OK (even for pages over 32000 chars).
Here is my code (VB.NET 10)
Public Sub RegisterPageInCache(sSection As String, ByVal sPage As String)
Dim sSQL As String = "INSERT INTO tbCache (PageID, PageContent) VALUES(?, ?)"
Dim oleConn As OleDbConnection = dbmASLRB.Connection
Dim cmd As New OleDbCommand(sSQL, oleConn)
Dim param1 As New OleDbParameter, param2 As New OleDbParameter
Try
'delete eventual old page
dbmASLRB.NonQuery("DELETE * FROM tbCache WHERE PageID='" & sSection & "'")
'register page
param1.ParameterName = "tbCache_PageID"
param1.Value = sSection
param1.DbType = DbType.String
cmd.Parameters.Add(param1)
param1 = Nothing
param2.ParameterName = "tbCache_PageContent"
param2.Value = sPage
'param2.OleDbType = OleDbType.LongVarWChar
param2.DbType = DbType.String
cmd.Parameters.Add(param2)
oleConn.Open()
cmd.ExecuteNonQuery()
oleConn.Close()
param2 = Nothing
'refresh
Catch ex As Exception
MsgBox(ex.Message & " SetCache")
End Try
End Sub
Thanks in advance for any responseAt least create code which solves the type themselves and is 2015 style.
Public Sub RegisterPageInCache(sSection As String, ByVal sPage As String)
Dim sSQL As String = "INSERT INTO tbCache (PageID, PageContent) VALUES(?, ?)"
Dim oleConn As OleDbConnection = dbmASLRB.Connection
Dim cmd As New OleDbCommand(sSQL, oleConn)
cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("?", sSection)
cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("?", sPage)
Dim param1 As New OleDbParameter, param2 As New OleDbParameter
Try
'delete eventual old page
dbmASLRB.NonQuery("DELETE * FROM tbCache WHERE PageID='" & sSection & "'")
'register page
oleConn.Open()
cmd.ExecuteNonQuery()
oleConn.Close()
Catch ex As Exception
MsgBox(ex.Message & " SetCache")
End Try
End Sub
I assume that dmaAslr is a kind of old Dao or Ado object, try to avoid that way, by creating simply updates your Access file will not grow so much with empty rows.

I need to know the E1 cable length limitations,in meters? Actually i've a customer who needs to extend their E1's from the basement to DataCenter Room and you people know the UTP Cable limitation. So which type of device should i refer to them for this purpose.
UTP gauge 22, typical attenuation, should cover 1000 feet ( > 300 m) without problem.
Make sure you use proper cable and respect the pair twisting, that is NOT like ethernet. -
GPS Cable length limitations?
Does anyone happen to know the length limitation on the GPS cable?
I believe I received a 25 foot section of RG174 with the original unit. However, the ideal location in the warehouse would be about 100 feet from the nearest window. Would that be too long? If possible to run that far, would anyone know where to purchase a continuous length of 100 feet?Dear Sunrise25,

IWeb published page length short on remote files??
I have multiple domains I publish to a folder. Then I upload with cyberduck. Recently I have uploaded a website generated in iWeb 08 and when I view online the page length is short both in safari and firefox. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.
I have gone back into iWeb and verified the content height, and additionally verified the tags by viewing them in adobe dreamweaver and the remote files are tagged correctly.
Just to be sure I downloaded the page and the remote files to my desktop, and they view at the correct length.
Again when I view the pages online they are short meaning I can not scroll to the bottom as the page ends prematurely. There is more content just can not scroll down that far, additionally the scroll bar stops correctly (at the incorrect length).
Thank You in advance -
HerbI replied only to Ethmoid's response not to the entire thread, as I should have. My bad.
Here's my reply to your replies:
I uploaded the folder Robert Wells Fine Prints, which contained both the index.html file and the Robert Wells Fine Prints folder created by iWeb when I published. In Cyberduck, I uploaded them to the public_html on Small Oranges servers.
I uploaded the whole RWFP folder created by iWeb all at one time.
Ethmoid asked: "How did you manage to get a php file when iWeb does not support this? If you have created your site in iWeb, you welcome page should be Welcome.html and nothing like php."
I have no idea how I did this, but it looks like I screwed it up pretty good. Could it have anything to do with the fact that at some point in this process (not sure when) I changed the site's name. Originally, I was going to call it Robert's Fine Art Prints, but that got changed to Robert Wells Fine Prints. Though I have no idea if this has anything to do with my current problem.
Things have gotten worse. Thinking I did something wrong & could fix the problem by re-uploading, I deleted the files from the server and tried again. Now, most of the image files are failing to upload in Cyberduck.
Chuck Usher asked "When you publish to a folder I believe you get a folder and a separate index.html file. did you up load both and address the index file? What is the site address? "
Yes, you get an index.html and a folder of supporting documents. I uploaded both at the same time. The address is supposed to be robertwellsfineprints.com but it doesn't work.
Thoughts appreciated.

Chart label length limitation?
Is there a limitation on the length of x- or y-axis label for a SVG chart? The chart on my page has x-axis
label truncated to 15 characters long.Me too, in my SVG pie chart, the last row legend text was truncated. just like:
deal size > 70k - 92.5%
deal size
I actually expected in the second row, deal size <= 70k ...
What happened? and how can I control this, moreover the legend was displayed in the left upper of the region and cost a lot width in my screen. Can I change to display the legend in other place, eg. the bottom of the region or the chart?
Anyone can help us about this? -
Custom Infotype length limitation
Hi,
I have a requirement to create a custom infotype in ECC 6.0 with a table control which can have a maximum of 50 line items. Something similar to basic pay infotype and PA0008. While going through the SAP documentation I found the below statement .
"A new infotype is limited to a maximum of 1000 positions. This restriction is due of the length of structure PRELP, which is used as a container during infotype processing."
This is available at
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60/helpdata/en/60/d8d8c7576311d189270000e8322f96/frameset.htm
In our implementation, each record of standard table PA0008 could go upto 1200 characters with a maximum of 40 line items in the table control. We never used more than 5 line items and never had any problem.
Since the custom table control can have upto 50 line items, each record of my custom table pa9xxxx could go upto 4000 characters and I'm concerned that if this is going to be an issue. Any suggestions in this regard please ?
Thanks for your time,
Kumar.Hi Venkata
Please see notes 563145 and 1168062 for help
Please also be aware that custom infotypes and the effects of changing structures are the customers responsibility

Font name length limitation...
Hello all,
I have a serious problem related with .PFB font files. Is there any relation between font name length; I checked and if font name length is more than 30 characters I am getting an error that "the requested file C:\....\....Pfm,C:\....\....Pfb was not a valid font file". Although I am using the same way to install all fonts.
Please help me and give me any solution. Please let me know if there any limitation with windows XP, or its a limitation of Type 1 fonts.
Thanks in advance and pardon my English.
Thanks........I believe the answer is "both" for practical purposes. Although, my recollection would have been that the limit was 31 characters, not 30.
