Page limits on numbers 3

I have just downloaded Numbers 3. One of the big differences I have found is that, comparing with numbers '09, page limit is not clear defined. This was achieved in numbers '09 with the "Print Preview" button.
When active, one was able just adjust the content to the real page size. Now, this preview mode has disappeared, and I do not know how to adjust content to the physical page but going to "Print", seeing how is scaled and how the content is distributed among pages, and going back, edit, forth, to Print, etc.
Where is "Print Preview" mode in Numbers 3?

The "real time" Print Preview does indeed seem to be a casualty of the "upgrade". I think you have found all that is left of it, slightly better than the old view in the Print dialog, but not nearly as handy as the Print View editing mode.

Do you have both the OS X and iOS versions of each of them?

Normally you have to get these from the App store.  Open the App Store application in your Applications folder. Have a look at the category Apple Apps.
    There is also this:

  • How to enter a page break in numbers

how do you enter a page break in numbers?

In Numbers there is no concpet of "entering a page break".  You look at the print preview which you see when you select the menu item "File >Print...".
If the pagination is correct you click the "Print" button.  If not then you click the "Done" button and move content around.  Often I place, temporary, rectangles on a page that take up the full page so I know where to put content, then remove them before printing.

  • How to make a page break in numbers

The only way I found to make a new page in Numbers was to make new rows down to where the page would break, but it's only letting me add a few new rows to the new page.  I'd like to know how to make a page break without just adding rows.

    Hi Yellowbox,
Still I'm not convinced, it gives you indeed some advantages but this page break is a great fault.
All the company is working on Apple, we try even to keep Microsoft away but what when you make a quote of several pages and have to make your lay out at the end, it is a pain in your xxx to make it well.
We cannot make different tables for each page nor I want to make it in Pages with a Numbers table.
Secondly, what do you do when you get a Excell offer that you want to bring to Numbers.
It opens well but again, you need to make all the page lay out afterwards!
    Thanks for yoru reply.
It won't change my mind about Apple and Microsoft but for timing earning I won't changes all Excel offers to Numbers anymore. Even if I do not want, it would take me less time to work it out in Excel.
Our own offers will remain in Numbers ...
It is a pity but time is so important nowadays!
    Nice week-end.

  • Using iWork 09 Pages I need the first six pages of a document to not be counted as page numbers. I need the seventh page to be numbered as page one. I already know to have a section break between pages 6 and 7 and to use inspector "start at." Not working

In the book I'm formatting, the first page is the title page, the second page is the copyright page, the third through fifth pages are the table of contents, the sixth page is blank, then the text (which I want to number as page one) is the introduction. I have section breaks between the title page, the copyright page, the table of contents, and the introduction. Using the Inspector, Layout, Section, and selecting "Start at" 7 doesn't do anything!

Is is a bit tricky, but it works. On your 6th page (the blank one) go to Insert > Section Break. This will give you a 7th page. Then go to Inspector (blue circle with a white letter i in it) and go to Layout Inspector (2nd tab). Once in thee, go to Section. Check "Start at" and enter the number 1. Then ensure all other toons I there are unchecked.
Then go to Insert, and select Auto Page Numbers. You will find that your 7th page is numbered 1 as you want, but the first six pages will be numbered 1 to 6, which you don't want. But you can then delete the page numbering in that 1st section, leaving your 2nd section, beginning at page 7, numbered as page 1. You'll need to play around a bit as I did, and I would suggest using a test document to play with so you can undo any unwanted actions etc, but with tweaking around, it's doable. This took me ages to sort, so if it works for you, please give me the points :-)

  • My ipad air was bought and activated AFTER September 1st and I downloaded pages, keynote and numbers. I then changed my Apple ID as the password no longer worked, these apps were also deleted I order to be updated. Now I cannot get the free version. Help?

My ipad air was bought and activated AFTER September 1st (activated December 25th) and I downloaded pages, keynote and numbers. I then changed my Apple ID as the password no longer worked, These apps had to be deleted as I needed to update them. Now I cannot get the free version on my ipad. I have searched the internet to see if there is a solution, and I found a few but unfortunately none have worked. I desperately need these apps as my iPad is used for school. Is this an issue I should take up with the apple support centre or something? Please help! Thanks

  • Using CUPS to set page limits on Leopard with shared printers

    Hello all,
I'm attempting to share a printer (HP LaserJet 5200) connected via USB with a lab of iMacs. All machines are running Leopard. The version of cups is 1.3.8. I have configured the printer on the "server" machine using the web interface. I have tried two methods of setting page limits, both the command line entry (sudo lpadmin -p printerName -o job-page-limit=100) and editing the /etc/cups/printer.conf file to reflect the limit I want.
When I print, however, the limits are not obeyed. They still appear in the config file, but printing from both the host machine and the client machines on the LAN is not affected by the limits. Does anyone have any idea what is overriding the config files or why they are not affecting the printing process?
    Many thanks,
    -Scott

hi John, this is what is registered in the log:
    printer sp67 9 [03/Nov/2008:09:50:46 -0500] 1 1DEBUG: Read 8192 bytes of print data... - fe80::222:41ff:fe2a:8948%en0

I've recently installed the beta 1.4 version, and I now quotas *sort of* work... that is, I get the "quota exceeded" notification when I run jobs from the command line (using lp), but if I immediately run the same command again, it forgets about the quota and prints anyway.
The same appears to happen from a remote machine; first an error is given, but if i attempt to print again, it goes through...
    Many thanks for your assistance.

  • How do I change page orientation in Numbers on my ipad?

How do I make the pages landscape in Numbers on my iPad?  I've read something about "inspector" but I don't know what that is or where to find it...

    Sorry, couldn't resist
OK. top right of numbers sheet there is a spanner > Select it.
Select Share & Print > Print > On the bottom right of the print preview window is the option to change between Portrait & Landscape. Also on the bottom is a slider to change the size of the tables and an Auto fit option.
The blue bars show exactly what will be printed on each sheet.
    Best.
PS. I had to read the getting started info.. I don't have a printer

  • Adjusting the page size in numbers on the ipad

I need to be able to adjust/set the page size for numbers documents on the ipad. Every time I export the numbers document from icloud as a pdf to a pc the spreadsheets are all over the place with page breaks in the wrong places. If i export as an excel I lose all formatting. I can't download as a numbers doc as the pc will not support it. Is there a way of setting and locking the document/page size with out going through the print option as i do not have an airprint printer and am not going to get one either!

I don't see a setting for page size.  Everything else related to that (sans setting the page size) appears to be found here:
    Click the wrench
    Share & Print
    Print
Select portrait/landscape, content size, page numbering, headers
    Done (don't actually print it)
I wonder if you set the page size when you actually go to print it.  I don't have a printer to try it on. Otherwise it looks like 8.5x11 is all you get.

  • IWork export to Office error "The file format is invalid" in pages, keynote and numbers.

I am running iWork 09 (latest versions in all cases)*. When I try to export files from all three of the applications Pages, Keynote and Numbers into the relevant Office formats, I get the error "The file format is invalid." It works fine with PDF or RTF export.
I am able to open the same files in the iPad versions of thess iWork apps, and then export them. While this workaround will do for now, I'd like to be able to just export correctly.
Anyone have any suggestions on what might be wrong?
    Thanks,

    * Note that I needed to manually remove iWorks as the For_iWork:iWork '09:iWork9Update5.dmg.zip file wouldn't work on the latest version of iWorks. This involved deleting the iWork folders in the Applications and Library directories.

  • Why Pages, keynotes, and Numbers are not free? I bought my mac Oct 14, 2013

Why Pages, keynotes, and Numbers are not free? I bought my Mac at Oct 14, 2013. With the new OS X Mavericks relaeaed, Apple said that these three Apps are free to new buyers, I bought Macbook Air last week. Why I didn't see these three Apps free after I logged in the Mac App Store?
    Please, Help!

***For those that purchased iWork 09 not on the app store but as a retail disk copy you can get the update for iWork even though it may show $19.99 for all the apps:
You can reupdate to iWork 9.3 by going here http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1563
then after it is updated close the app store if opened then open it again and sign out then sign in and then all the iwork 2013 apps should show as update rather than $19.99 cost each. This worked for me. I bought iwork '09 on disk but it showed 19.99 each after I upgraded to Mavericks so  followed the above steps and it worked. I am now updating all my iWork suite I bought on disk, NOT on the Mac app store and now I have a Mac app store set!
Apple sure has a problem that needs to be fixed otherwise iWork will eventually be free for everyone...
Someone at Apple forgot all of us old retail people before the Mac App store existed!
