Page moving within the browser

Hi I have a small problem with my site, although on the layout all the content is within the grid when I check it in the browser you can move the content slightly with the mouse and you can see on the right that the content isn't aligned. The top of the page has a slideshow that is set to 100% width but it has a longer piece of artwork so it always goes edge to edge, so that shouldn't be a problem
Heres a link to a video of it it action Dropbox - site issue.mov
Any ideas guys it driving me crazy!! Thanks

hi thanks for getting back to me, none of the images (on the desktop version) are scaled or edited, they are all 100% the slideshow is cropped as I have a very long piece of artwork so it will always go edge to edge.
Heres the url

I removed chrome 10 and newly installed FF4 final, and I can't read PDF files within the browser. There was no problem in Chrome. I can't even see the acrobat reader plugin in the plugins page. Acrobat 10 is already installed in my PC. Every time I try to read a PDF file on the web, FF tries to download it instead.

As recommended above by Bernd Alheit, I posted this on the Adobe Reader forum. There, I received the advice to repair the installation under the help menu, which I did and it fixed the problem.
Similar to your solution but found it's a fix found under "HELP" menu and not Add/Remove.
    Thank you.

  • How easy is it to create a new add on? I would like to see tabbed display within the browser on FF24 on Android 4.2 – as per desktop FF

Please excuse this if it's a noob Q – I am, indeed, completely new to Android. Tabbed display appears to have been possible on previous versions of FF for Android via several add ons but unfortunately no more. Display of each open tab within the browser – rather than the current arrangement with just the number in the corner – is still possible with FF desktop and also features in Chrome, Opera and Dolphin for Android. I would prefer not to use these other mobile browsers as FF outperforms them but I do need tabbed display to allow for PDF docs to open – using the PDF viewer add on – alongside their initiating webpage. Any ideas? Is it difficult to create an add on? What is the process? Is one in the pipeline? Many thanks in advance for any help or guidance you can offer...

Many thanks for your reply, Waka – guess you're right that it's a new add on or bust... I still find it odd that such a common UI feature across mobile browsers is unavailable in FF24 either as an option under settings or as an add-on. Surely, I'm not the only person who finds this puzzling?

  • How to do that when you open a new tab to appear like the start page after opening the browser?

Never used it myself, so I'm not sure if you can set to about:home or not. You'll have to give it a try.

  • FireFox 3.6 and Adobe Reader X. Reader X PDFs opened within the browser contain links, which do not work. Anyone got clues on why the links fail and how to fix?

When we rolled out ReaderX and AcrobatX we uncheck the Diaply PDF in Browser window. OK with IE, but ignored in FireFox (3.6.16). We can live with that except the PDFs have links to other URLs and clicking on them is ignored. Same PDF opened outside the browser the links work fine. FireFox with Reader 9.4.0 no problem. Reader X with IE no problem. I can fix the Display in Browser with a change to firefox.js, but have not figured out how to fix the links when the PDF is displayed within the browser.

    My replies are in Bold.
Thank you for your response and message.
    1. Are you seeing this problem with all kinds of PDF's or some specific  kinds like secure PDF's (with doc open password or printing  restrcitions), reader extended PDF's or PDF forms.
This problem is with all kind's of PDF's.
    2. Are you opening a locally saved PDF by doing a drag drop in the  browser or right click and open with IE/FF or directly opening a PDF  hosted on the internet?
It doesn't matter. However I do it, I see this problem in Firefox, IE & Google Chrome.
    3.  Can you also check the version of the Reader X browser plugin? you  could find it at C:\Program Files\Common  Files\Adobe\Acrobat\ActiveX\AcroPDF.dll. Right click -> Properties  -> Details
If version is 9.0.x then you could try a clean install of Reader X.
I have checked it. It's the latest plug-in (though at the moment, I have gone back to Adobe Reader 9.4.1, as I've mentioned before, because I need the reader to be working fine for my work and daily life. I am just waiting for a fix before I try Adobe Reader X again.
As I've mentioned before, I am seeing this issue ONLY on my Windows 7 Ultimate (Laptop). In the desktop's at work, with Windows XP / Vista, I don't see it. Adobe Reader is working fine, browser integration is fine, the floating tool bar works fine, the right click menu pop' up where the right click is done...I can also save PDF' from the main toolbar at the top and so on...
I really have run out of ideas.... and I am very surprised that no expert support personnel (if at all there is one) have dropped by or said anything or mentioned anything about this.
    Anyway.... Cheers.

You need to install Java for your Mac OS version, and/or make sure it's enabled in the Java Preferences application and your browser's preferences.

  • Running form within the browser

Is it possible to run a form using the JInitiator and Application Server within the browser window instead of the form creating its own work area outside of the browser? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Bucky

    Hi
Set the separateFrame parameter to false.
This can be done by supplying parameters directly in the URL or in a form specific section in the formsweb.cfg file

  • Why can't Firefox still not show a pdf properly from within the browser and do we need insufficient and not working add-ons?

I never succeeded to show a pdf properly in the Firefox browser.
There is an add-on, but the add-on itself tells you already in most cases that you should download the pdf because it can't show the pdf properly. I can't understand why that is! It makes my live much more complicated, since we have an application running that constantly should be able to show pdf's from within the browser.

The add-on you are talking about is pdf.js. pdf.js does it best to show you what the pdf's it is given are, but pdf.js is not 100% compatible with all elements that can be put inside a pdf. Another problem pdf.js faces is that many pdf's generated with proprietary software either do not conform to the pdf spec or use proprieatary elements that only pdf readers that the company has designed or partnered with can interpret. I promise you Mozilla doesn't want your life to be any more complicated than it is but sometimes it is simply not possible for pdf.js to read a document when the manufacturer of the program that generated the pdf doesn't play by the rules.

My page is centered with in the brower however depending on how long vertically the page is the center move. So when you change to certian pages some are positioned in one spot the others are positioned slightly to the left and its pretty noticable when navigating through the site. How can i correct it that the page stays in the same spot centered in the browser.

  • Scroll FX - Content container are moving outside the browser.

    Hi together!
I have a question, that makes me mad since a month or so.
I am curious if anyone has an answer or can at least tell me where I made the mistake...
I made a small one page site - no Master page. The browser fill is a mosaic with a scroll effect.
The navigation is made with icons and I used anchors to navigate to the single points.
All works fine on my PC.
But when I visit the page on another PC, or Mac, or change Browsers and I use the navigation, or simply scroll down, the pages (content containers) start to move to the left.
I am sure it has something to do with the anchors, but I am not sure ...
In older versions I always put the anchos at the right or left side of the page, so they wouldn't disturb me. But a few days ago I saw a tutorial, and this guy placed all the anchors in the center of the page.
So I did - this time - the same. And it really works fin on MY PC - but nowhere else ...
Please if anyone can help me this would be great!!
This is the link to the page.
    http://dus00101.businesscatalyst.com/
The screenshot below shows how it looks in IE.
You can clearly see, that the containers for the content are moving to the left side.
Its always the left side - never the right!
Thank you in advance for your help.
    Michelle

The content on the page is 1500 pixels wide. (As you resize the browser window smaller the horizontal scroll bar appears when the browser window is less than 1500 pixels wide. As long as the browser window is narrower than 1500 pixels, there will be a horizontal scroll bar and horizontal scrolling will occur when scrolling to an anchor.
If all the anchors are at the same x: position, then once the page has been scrolled to one of the anchors all subsequent scrolling will be vertical only (unless the user manually scrolls horizontally to a different position).
If you visit a parallax site such as http://muse.adobe.com the content is 980px wide.
You can turn off the ability to scroll horizontally, which will hide the horizontal scrollbar, using a snippet of code pasted into the Page Properties <head> section, but doing so is strongly discouraged since it will interfere with the normal navigation of your site for those visiting your site on small screens.

  • A new video now present on my Firefox home page is causing the browser to crash on two computers. How do I remove it?

Just today, the problem started on my work laptop. When Firefox first opens everything is okay, whether the video pop-up window is there or not. However, if I then open a new tab and select my Firefox home page, about 80% of the time the browser crashes, asking for information to send to Support. When I reload Firefox, the offending tab does not go back tot he home page, but to a state prior to that.
I now find that my home desktop has the same problem. I can find no settings to prevent the video from displaying on the Firefox home page. I also get the impression that the video is some promotional item from Firefox.
I will now run manual virus scans, but I'm running Webroot on both systems, and they are scanned automatically. Any ideas? Frankly, I'm wondering if it's time to find a better browser.
    Thanks,
    Brian

The default homepage has featured various animations for a long time now (world map, bouncing star, and so on). The method to disable them remains the same:
    # Type about:config into the address bar and press Enter.
    # To bypass the warning, press the big button labeled "I'll be careful, I promise!".
    # In the search box, paste browser.aboutHomeSnippets.updateUrl
    # In the search results, double-click browser.aboutHomeSnippets.updateUrl. Delete all the text so that the preference value is blank, then press the OK button. As a side-effect, only default tips will be displayed below the search box, because new ones won't be fetched from the web anymore.
    # Type about:support into the address bar and press Enter.
    # Click the Show Folder button.
    # Open the storage folder, open the persistent folder inside that.
    # Exit Firefox.
    # Back in the Windows Explorer window, delete the '''moz-safe-about+home''' folder.

  • Can you find out if a clip has been used in a timeline within the browser?

i am using hundreds of clips and i don't want to use one twice - or leave one out. years ago in premiere they let you see USED CLIPS and it showed you how many times it was used and where it was within a timeline. does that feature - or something like it exist in FC?
    thanks
    mrC

Yep, that'll show dupe clip usage in the timeline, but to see used clips in the browser you have to specifically search for them. With the browser window active, press Cmd-F to bring up the Find window, and change the For: popup to Used Media (or Unused Media) as desired; you can limit the search to specific sequences and/or filter the search by adding multiple specific search criteria ... finally just press the Find All button.

  • IE Browser not able to display a PDF file within the Browser window ...

    Hello acrobat experts!
I'm now writing a plugin for the acrobat. According to my customer requirements, the pdf file is expected to be displayed within the MS IE
browser widows. It worked within adobe Reader and Acrobat 7.0.x.
Now I wanted to test my plugin against version adobe Reader and Acrobat
    8.0, 8.1.0, 8.1.1. Unfortunately, I got a strange behavior: pdf files are
being diplayed in seperate windows, i.e. the IE browser window is empty
    and white blanked!
    - (Un)check "Display PDF in browser" option and close the window
    didn't help!
    - I tried also to upgrade gradually and after each upgrade checked if the
problem persists --> I had the same behavoir after each update:
    7.0.5 -> 8.0; 8.0 --> 8.1.0; 8.1.0 --> 8.1.1
    - In some google - forums I found out that the following DLL's may be
    missing:
    Acropdf.dll, Acroiehelper.dll,Gbdetect.dll and Pdfshell.dll
i got these dll's, put them into the activeX directory, but still I
    have the same problem
You guys, do you have useful links / tips for me? Is this a known bug
    in the acrobat / Reader 8.0, 8.1.0, 8.1.1?
By the it works fine within firefox!
Further info about user SW versions:
IE browser version 6.0 SP2, Windows XP SP2
Thanks a lot in advance for your help
    Caleb

    thanks for the quick feedback-
no, because my customer is using the IE 6. According to the system
requirements all these Acrobat/Reader versions should also run
    properly under IE 6 http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3796
I have a look in IE >> manage- add-ons and got the following Add-ons
    for adobe
    - Adobe PDF
    - Adobe PDF Conversion Tool helper
    both are enabled!
    Do I need more?
can u pls check, if u have the following ddl's in the adobe home dir:
    Acropdf.dll, Acroiehelper.dll,Gbdetect.dll and Pdfshell.dll
    Thanks

  • Cap5: User must get a certain page after closing the browser page in the middle of a quiz

Captivate 5, Output Flash10, LMS Cornerstone, majority of the users use IE7.
The 10 quiz pages (always followed by 2 text pages ---> 30 pages) do not have TOC activated. So there is no bookmarking.
    Sequence:
40 text pages --- 30 quiz pages --- 10 additional pages linked from buttons of the first 40 text pages.
If the user closes the browser page in the middle of the quiz, no bookmark was set.
When he starts the module again, he would just see the message "Loading".
I'd like to open the module and lead the user to the beginning of the quiz.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Freedy!!
I think I have seen this before. Please try the following solution :
    http://helpx.adobe.com/captivate/kb/projects-published-captivate-5-lms.html
You need to replace your CPSWF9Template.dll from the installed location. Be careful to choose the one meant for your Captivate version.
