Page name colour - slightly different question

I am using iWeb 09 and using the template in 1.0 - Modern... which I am happy with, except for the page names coming in red (when you go to select them/change pages). How do I change this colour? You seem to be able to change everything else!

To do this, and for several other good reasons, you can hide the standard navigation menu in the pages inspector and build your own in a text box.
This way, you can have your own choice of fonts, colors, rollover colors. You can put the menu any where on the page, have it horizontal or vertical and repeat it at the bottom of long pages to save viewers scrolling back to the top to change pages.

Jerky Genie Effect? A Slightly Different Question.

Occasionally the genie effect will suddenly become jerky.
A few months ago I searched the forums and found that one cure was to log out and then back in again.
Apparently the finder or desktop get "tired" and logging out refreshes everything.
I think my problems are caused because I generally have about 40 items sitting on my desktop, which I believe wastes a lot of computing power. So every now and again I get rid of half of them.
I also have some 50 items in the dock! Will each of these icons be as damaging as the others on the desktop?
In other words, should I keep the items in the dock down to a minimum just as I should keep down those on the desktop?

What brought this to mind was a video I was watching in Final Cut Pro this morning.
It started playing a little hesitantly (something that never happens) and thinking it might be a similar issue, I logged out and in.
Lo and behold the video played perfectly.
It was then I realised I had more things in the dock than on the desktop. So I have pruned both, just in case they are impacting on performance.

Printed colour is different between two elements both created in pages with the same colour

Hi There,
I have been having some issues getting a text colour to match a logo (imported in pdf format) - While trying to discover what was happening I created a sample colour of (HSB 189 / 89 / 73) in pages and saved it in my colours palette to test.
Now if I create some text (in pages) and a shape (also in pages) and colour them from the same colour sample/swatch and print it - the colours are clearly very different, Does pages do some kind of text colour correcting or weirdness that I cant find? Its hard to believe this is the desired workflow and its very anoying.
PS. I have also tried printing from a pdf and I have the same issues - That said the two colours look identical in pages and the pdf on screen.

Which although is helpful and may explain the behavious of the imported logo pdf vs the text it doesn't (I dont think) explain how two elements both created in pages using the same colour (from pages) would be dfferent?

They are both coming out at the exact same colour (CMYK 83, 0, 21, 0) which is correct however they are not the same colours when printed, Im begining to think this is less of a pages thing (as the output is correct) but something is going wrong between pdf/pages and print
Its not the easiest thing to see so you may have to take my word for it - but the two colours are not the same by quite a long way (Theres way more contrast in real life)
I think Im ready to admit defeat on this but thanks a bunch for your help!

Question about "Get Web Drawing URL and Page Name From" for Visio Web Access

I am trying to get both the web drawing URL and the page name from a list through Share Point Designer 2013, but it doesn´t work.
It looks fine when a do the web part connection wizard. I select from which columns to get the URL and the page name. But on the final web part page nothing happens. It just shows the URL that is selected in the Visio Web Access Web part. I had hoped that
that value should be overrided by the SPD-settings.
I have googled for hours..

I have now saved the Visio-file in .vdw-format, but it says Visio 2010 Web Drawing (*.vdw). Is there a .vdw-format for 2013? Isn´t that the .vsdx-format?
Still doesn´t work with the .vdw-format, but maybe I am doing something wrong.
Any ideas?

Pages
"Revert To" feature may help.
Launch Pages.Open the document in question.
Click "File" in the menu bar and move the mouse pointer down to "Revert To".
Select "All Versions".
Screen will go into a TimeMachine like mode. You may be able to locate the old version.
You can scroll the Timeline on the right side.
If you find the right version, use the Restore button in the black bar at the underneath.
Click "Done" when done.

Question - Y do my fonts look slightly different when publish site to .mac?

I've created a website on iWeb but when i publish it and view it in safari the fonts look slightly different. It's hard to explain but they basically just look worse. Can anyone let me know why this might be and how i could fix this problem. Thanks in advance.

Quit iWeb, go to Home Folder/Library/Preferences and delete the file com.apple.iWeb.plist.
Restart your Mac, launch iWeb and republish.
You should really convert any text done in "copperplate" to an image. Otherwise it will be converted to an (ugly) alternative on any computer that doesn't have this font installed.

Colour Space / Workflow question.

I have been seconded to take photos at an up and coming family wedding.
I will be using a Canon 300D Digital SLR, shooting in RAW, and performing post processing on a Mac using Aperture (yet to be purchased).
I have established that my print lab works in the Adobe 1998 colour space. So, please let me know if I have the this right:
As long as my screen is calibrated, and I work in and save my images as Adobe 1998, my prints should accurately resemble what was present on my screen?
Is there a preference for which format (jpg, tiff, etc.) the images should be saved in for ensuring accurate print output from a pro lab ? They charge per print for RAW conversion, so I'm looking at saving finals as TIFF as the logical alternative.
Also - can someone tell me if I should necessarily set the camera parameters to any particular colour space ? On the Canon, I have the option to set Adobe RGB, or a number of Canon pre-sets, or in fact set my own pre-sets for tone, colour saturation etc. Does this even matter if I'm shooting in RAW ?
Any other advice on how I can ensure consistency in this workflow for this and future projects ?

They have provided me with a calibration image on CD
as well as a print of the same to do some side by
side comarison with my monitor. They also provided a
colour settings file for Photoshop. Armed with all of
this I seem to be getting closer to understanding the
necessary adjustments (although I temporarily
confused things by introducing my home printer into
the equation, until I realised that this thing also
has it's own colour settings).
To me, it sounds like the color settings file for Photoshop is most likely the color profile data I was talking about - does it end in .icc? What are the instructions for installation?
After you install it you can check the "Proofing Profile" dropdown in Aperture to see if you see anything like it - you'll need to restart Aperture after you install the icc profile (I think).
You can import the image from teh CD into Aperture and try using the proofing with the color profile sent to see how close it looks.
Basically the idea of the proofing and the profile is that by turning on on-screen proofng, you are taking the colors you have and seeing how the smaller range of color availaible in the printer will reflect what you have.. this gives you the ability to alter tones until the image you have better fits into the range of colors the printer can produce.
I haven't purchased Aperture yet, but I presume there
will be a way to invoke settings similar to the
colour settings in Photoshop so that what I'm seeing
in Aperture will be consistent ?
Yes, sorry for the above then which will be of little use until you get Aperture - basically there is a "Proofing Profile" dropdown and a command to enable or disable "Onscreen Proofing" (which is just like CS2's "Proof Colors").
Aperture makes use of any color profile defined in the system, so hopefully the installation instructions are for general OS X color profile installation. If it's an icc file you can install it for use with all of OS X.

Yes, all true. I just want to make sure to note that the choice of color profile does make a difference shooting JPG as it will affect the colors that are defined in the file (and the viewing of them in a browser), but from your comment above it seems you understood that aspect.
I calibrated my current monitor (using software only
at this stage). Does it particulary matter which

brightness, gamma, temperature etc. to save as a

I'm not sure here what you mean by "color space you choose to start from".
Also for profiling even a cheap device like the Huey would probably be a lot better than the software profiling - I went that route at first as well but the hardware stuff is worth it.
One last, slightly dumb, question. Are "Adobe RGB
1998" and "Adobe RGB" the same thing ?
Yep, pretty much the same thing by slightly different names.

How to retrieve Page name?

Report with continuation pages that have a different layout?

Is there a good way to build a master-detail report where the detail records continue on pages with different layout after the first page?
Take e.g. the invoice report example in Oracle Reports Building Reports, part V, chapter 33 and modify it so that only the first page shows the invoice header information and has the full invoice form as a background image; the subsequent pages have a different background image and show only continuing line items that may have even slightly different horizontal field locations. How would you make the line items "flow" to the continuation page(s)?
I tried building a report with the first page as the header section and the continuation pages as the main section, both with a repeating frame sourced from the same details group but can't figure out how to make the details actually continue on the continuation page and not just start from the beginning...

You both need to using AIM valid name or both using Jabber based IDs like FaceBook or GoogleTalk (oor Yahoo if you must)
Apple's @mac.com and @me.com are Valid AIM names as well as regular AIM names.
Jabber IDs are gained from non centralised servers and there are thousands of Public and private servers issuing IDs
Google Mail with "Talk" enabled on your Accounts settings or a FaceBook account with "Chat" enabled are valid Jabber IDs
Jabber IDs are rarely emails (Google is an exception).
However they follow the email format which means the AIM Buddy list will "accept" them format wise
(the same is true to some extent the other way round)

S440 - Slightly different WIFI problem

I've read the other lengthy thread on the S440 wifi problem and i'm not sure if mine is slightly different as it has nothing to do with hebernation or sleep mode.
Basically, twice in the last week my wifi has dropped out. I've still been connected to the router, and all other devices in the home are connected and working fine, but my S440 cannot connect to the internet and i get the small yellow exclamation mark over my wifi icon.
The first time it happened, it eventually fixed itself the following day via the network centre trouble shooting, and it came up as some sort of IP address issue.
It happened again last night but it wouldn't fix itself this time. Although this morning, I booted up at the office and its working again.
Its definitely something to do with the laptop as both time all other devices have been ok.
Before i start downloading new drivers, i just wanted to check.

Reg: Dashboard page Name not getting displayed.

I have created a dashboard Dashboard1 and it has 5 different pages
pg1 thru pg5. I have 5 users USER1,USER2.USER3,USER4 and USER5.
I have assigned each page to a user and all the users have access to Dashboard1
i.e
USER1 pg1 of Dashboard1
USER2 pg2 of Dashboard1
USER3 pg3 of Dashboard1
USER4 pg4 of Dashboard1
USER5 pg5 of Dashboard1
The problem is name of the pages is not displayed once the dashboard is accessed after log on..The report attached to that page is displaying data, but page name on the tab is blank...
Could anybody help me with this information pls..

Hi,
When a single page is placed on the Dashboard it will not show the page name as it won't show any tab on the Dashboard. This is happening by default.
This case applies to your scenario as you restricting those pages among the users.
To just check, give the permissions to the user1 to view 2 dashboard pages instead of 1. Then you can able to see the page names on the tabs as 2 pages are on the Dashboard for that user.
I am also not aware of displaying the Page name when there is a single page on the dashboard...:(

Insert Page Name in Master page

Hello.
I was wondering if there was an easy way to insert the page name inside a master page, something like indesign's variable ?
If i want this exactly like the widgets (drag and drop a box, it places with editable attribute of pageitem::menu), i'm ok to type and paste some html.
(I also wonder how to use the widgets.muse file to build my own, but that's another question i guess)

I feel pretty silly asking this, but I can't understand the Adobe Help files on overriding a master item.
It lists a two step process:
Make sure the master item can be overridden -this seems to be fine. After selecting the inserted File Name in the master I can see a tick next to Allow Master Item Overrides On Selection in the Pages panel menu.
Override specific master items on a document page - this is where I get lost.
Firstly I can't select the items on a regular (non-master) page. Am I meant to select them on the master page?
Secondly the help file simply says "Change the selected master items as desired." How do I change them. There's no explicit instruction, and I can't for the life of me work it out.
More generally (if this does happen on a master), do I need to make this change on every document in the book, or can I simply make the change on the Style Source and then synchronise the remaining files?

Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems: View/Beeld > Zoom > Reset (Ctrl+0 (zero); Cmd+0 on Mac)

Press F10 or tap the Alt key to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily if the Menu Bar is hidden.
Use "Firefox > Options" instead of "Tools/Extra > Options" if the menu bar is hidden.

How to get a Page name?

I have a dynamic page component portlet, which display different images depending upon page name.
Is there any APIs to get the current page name in pl/sql.
or is there any way to get the page name ?

I can't help you with the Javascript option - don't know if this is possible.
A simple PL/SQL item type that demonstrates how to do this:
declare
page_id varchar2(100);
begin
page_id := WWPRO_API_PARAMETERS.GET_VALUE('_pageid','a');
htp.p('The page id is ' || page_id);
exception
when others then null;
end;
A custom item type procedure is even simpler - you can pass the page group id and page id directly to the procedure, so you don't need to call WWPRO_API_PARAMETERS.GET_VALUE to pull the pageid off the URL.
