Page number problem in Binder

How can I get the page number to stay at the true bottom of a page (.5 margin) when pages have different numbers of lines? The document looks perfect in the saved PDF, but when it prints the page number is underneath the last line of text, sometimes in the middle of the page. I'm combining org charts created in Visio and saved as a PDF with pages of data from an Excel spreadsheet; the Excel pages are fine, but the org charts (some of which will print in landscape, others in portrait in the book that will be created from this binder) look awful.  Thanks in advance for help!  I'm pulling my hair out over this...

Hi
i am not getting your points, what you have done, for printing page no. create a secondary window and put its properties accordingly (in output options), see the screenshot below
and then use the code i have written in my previous post, (in the above screenshot i am using this to print page no in footer area, you must change it accordingly)
If you get hided please delete it and create a secondary window as shown in %WINDOW1
and then create a text within it, and use the code i have written .
I hope your problem will get sort out.

  • Page number problem with document imported from MS Word.

I am a new Mac/Pages user and imported a Word document to use as a template to help me learn the Pages formatting nuances. This has worked well except for one problem. I have page numbers in the footer, but only the first digit of the page number shows up, i.e. 7,8,9,1,1...etc. I can't find a way to edit or delete the page number imported from Word. I can easily insert the page numbers through Pages but can't get rid of the imported pages numbers. Also, how do I prevent page 1 from receiving a page number?

    Hi,
Others have reported difficulty removing page numbers from imported Word docs. I think it can be done, but it may not be worth the effort to repair the imported document when you can easily Select All and Copy the entire document and Paste it into a fresh Pages blank document without the improperly formatted, persistent Word page numbering.

  • Workaround solution for page number problem in books to PDF

I needed to create a spiral-bound book from Aperture, and decided to print to PDF to create a master rather than going through the online ordering option. Discovered the page numbers were always missing or jumbled whether I used the Automatic or Always On page number settings, even through they were displayed in Aperture correctly. In the final preview before printing to PDF, they become corrupted and no longer display correctly.
    To workaround this problem:
    1. Turn the Page Numbers option to Off in Aperture. (This option is located in the pull-down menu of the Gear icon under the pages thumbnails.)
    2. Print to PDF without any page numbers.
    3. Open your PDF in Adobe Acrobat Professional (to have write priveledges.)
    4. From the Document option in the top bar, Add Headers and Footers.
    5. Click the Footer tab, to add page numbers.
NOTE: If you want to change the format of your page numbers on odd and even pages for a two page spread, you have to add them in two different passes. For example, insert page number in left column, then repeat action to insert page number in right column only while enabling replacement of existing page numbers. You can choose to start page numbering on any page.
    7. Save your PDF, and you can have it printed wherever you want.

    Page numbering
Insert page numbers into your final report by using the page numbering methods of your word processing application. For example, if you are using Microsoft Word:
    1. From the Insert menu, select Page Numbers...
    2. Select the Position, Alignment, and Format as desired.

  • Page Number problem

Using ID 5.0.4, WinXP SP2, I still can't get page numbering to work properly. I've added three chapter files to a book.indb file. The book tab shows:
    1-20 for Chapter 1
    1-18 for Chapter 2
    1-20 for Chapter 3
The page counts are correct, but the book tab thinks each chapter begins on page 1. But despite that, here's what each chapter file shows:
Chapter 1 file shows pages 1-20,
Chapter 2 file shows pages 21-38,
Chapter 3 file shows pages 19-38.
Since chapter 2 is indeed 18 pages, Chapter 3 seems to think it should begin on page 19, when it should in fact begin on page 39. I've tried every option I can think of to resolve this, but nothing has any effect.
Book Page Numbering Options are set to "Continue from previous document" and "Doc Numbering Options" are set for "Automatic Page Numbering." "Doc Chapter Numbering" is also set for "Continue from Previous Doc." The "Start Section" box at the top is checked, but the box is greyed out, so I can't uncheck it (in case that would help).
Is there a fix for this, or do I have to do it the brute-force way by turning off automatic page numbering and specifying a beginning page number for each chapter?
    Thanks, John

Ta-da!! After more than a dozen tries, I finally got Shift-Ctrl-Alt to give me the Delete preferences pop-up. I did so, then opened the book again. All three chapter files began on page 1, but the "Update page & Section Numbers" option fixed it!!
Another quirk (I think) is that my "Open a recent item" list shows the recently-opened chapter (.indd) files, but *never* shows the book.indb file. If I open the "Open" folder at the bottom of the list and double-click on the book.indb file, nothing apparently happens. That's because the book file opens *under* the InDesign list box. I need to move the box out of the way to find the book.indb file. No big deal, because I'll eventually kill this opening list window anyway. But sure is confusing.
Peter and ManiSankar, thanks very much for all the help on this.

  • Page number problem in ALV background

    Hi all,
I am displaying a report in ALV format.
In the header , i have to display the detail like current page no/ total page numbers .
I am able to achieve this , but I am facing 2 problems
    1. In foreground , it is always dispayed as ONE SINGLE PAGE , there by showing 1/10 no matter how much pages are present.
    2. When i schedule this program in background, it takes 1 page extra .. i.e 1/10 , 2/10 .... 11/10 .
The number of records obtained in background are proper , but probably the page lenghts are different,
Can any one please provide some inputs on the same ?
    Thanks ,
    Supriya Murudkar .

    Hi Twinkal,
    Thanks for your suggestion .
Is there any solution for the same ?
The program has a normal output as well as ALV o/p.
I just compared the 2 outputs now.
Some records which are on page 1 on normal output are on page 2 of ALV output. the total number of records being the same.
Do we have any other sol for this .
    Thanks ,

  • Page Number Problem in Converted Word Document

I opened a .docx file in Pages '09 and all seemed well. When I printed out a draft, I noticed that the second digit of my page numbers had but cut off. The page numbers appear just to the right of the edge of the header, yet are not part of the normal text. This is to say that I can't select them within the header or in the text field in order to change or delete them. Has anyone encountered a similar problem?

  • Page number problem in smartforms

    Hi experts,
    I have this problel:
    1. I have 2 documents, the first have 3 pages and the second with 2.
    2. I would to print this page numbering: 1/3, 2/3, 3/3 for the first document, and 1/2 and 2/2 for the other one. I would print each documents in the same session, without multiple calling of the same form.
    Is it possible?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
You have to create your own page counters and a new page window (type Final Window).
This window is executed at the end of the smartforms, once for page, and you can add the logic for your counters in this window (depending on page name, ...)

  • Error with master page "insert current page number" when exporting book

Using InDesign CS 5.5 for Windows
Recently upgraded from InDesign CS (the really old one from 2003). I did save a copy of all my old version files and kept the old ID installed just in case (after reading all the horror stories on here).
In my old version of ID, I created a book made up of about 70 documents. Some of these documents are one page, others have multiple pages. In the multiple page documents, I used the "insert ... current page number" character (or whatever the command was in the old version) on a master page, and formatted it to read, for example: Page 1 of 17, Page 2 of 17, Page 3 of 17, etc. When I exported my book to a pdf, it worked fine. (I do not want/have consecutive page numbers throughout the book, only in individual documents. By this I mean my entire book is about 280 pages, but not all of these 280 pages are numbered, just the groups of pages from these multi-page documents. It doesn't read page 1 through 280.)
Got my upgrade to 5.5 a few months ago, added some documents to the book, and (if i remember right) when I saved the book it asked to convert every old version document to the new version, which I said okay. When I exported the book to a pdf, some documents that are longer than 2 pages are now numbered wrong; the numbers are now going like this: Page 1 of 17, Page 2 of 17, Page 2 of 17 (supposed to be page 3), Page 2 of 17 (supposed to be page 4), etc. Every page but page 1 is now page 2 of whatever.
If I open the individual document and export it to pdf, the page numbers work fine. It's only when the document is exported with the book that the page numbers mess up. And it's not all the documents in my book; this error starts at a particular document and continues from that point throughout the rest of the book, affecting any document longer than 2 pages. Multi-page documents before this point in the book export with the correct page numbers.
I create new documents by doing a "save as" with a previously created document and cut and paste as needed, so I'm not having to reformat or set up page numbers on each new document. I don't use layers or styles (I'm sure there's a better way to do what I need, but I've only had time learn the basics, just enough to be functional.)
My attempts to fix this so far (using version 5.5), testing with the first document where the error appears: (1) I've removed the document from the book, deleted the insert current page number character, re-entered the insert current page number character, saved, exported the individual document to pdf and it worked fine. Put it back in the book, save, export, and it's wrong. (2) I took the document out of the book again, exported the document to .idml, saved as new .indd with new name, exported to pdf and it worked fine. Put it back in the book, save, export, and it's wrong. (3) I started up my old ID version, opened the old version of this document, exported to .inx, closed, opened .inx in ID 5.5, saved as new .indd with new name, exported to pdf and it worked fine. Put it back in the book, save, export, and it's wrong. (4) I moved the document up in the book order, putting it above a document that has correctly numbered pages, saved, exported to pdf, and this document was still wrong, but the one that has been numbered correctly all along is still correct. (5) I've compared settings for this document to others that number correctly and cannot find any difference.
It's like the page numbers get hung on "2" when I export the book, but only in the last two-thirds of the book. Sorry it's so lengthy, but I hope this description of my problem is understandable. Any advice, other than going back to my old version documents and starting over?
Thanks for your time and for all the awesome information this forum provides!

    Mr. Spier
Right after I posted my question, I saw a post from last year where somebody had similar problems. (I cringed because I spent almost 3 days researching this problem and never ran across that post; thanks for not scolding me for posting a semi re-run.) I decided to try one of the easier solutions: I opened the problem document from the book panel, went to the master page and deleted the text box containing the page number, copied the page number box from a document that worked correctly, and pasted it into the problem document. Saved that doc, closed, saved book, exported to pdf, and it worked!! The page number problem was fixed. I went back and did the same thing for the other problem documents and they all number correctly now.
Probably not the best way, but for now this will fix it; I may have to do it again next time I add to the book. Although I didn't follow your instructions, I'll mark this as answered since it's working now. If it keeps giving me problems, I'll try the .inx export/new book route.
    thanks for your time

  • SRDemo do not handle ApplicationPoolExc on page visit with iterator binding

I have a problem that I am able to reproduce in SRDemo as well. My goal is to be able to always present a user friendly
message to users should database go down while they are surfing the site. In SRDemo, if I visit a page whose page definition has no iterator bindings, a user
friendly message is presented to user if database is down. However, if I visit a page with iterator binding, an ApplicationPoolException stack trace is
presented to user instead of a user friendly message.
In the case of page with no iterator binding, the ApplicationPoolException is caught property in the SRDemoPageLifeCycle
resulting in user friendly error presented to user.
In the case of page with iterator binding, the ApplicationPoolException is not caught in the SRDemoPageLifeCycle and hence
ApplicationPoolException stack trace is presented to user.
For the working case of page with no iterator binding, the stack trace is as follows:
[312] Created root application module: 'App.AppModule'

I am aware of the following link but I don't know how to handle the ApplicationPoolException in beginRequest method
like Steve is refering to. Any idea? I am seeking a consistent solution to handle ApplicationPookException for both page modes with and without iterator
    bindings.
Exception JBO-26061 (JDBC connection Error) not being handled by SRDemo
    I am using JDeveloper 10.1.3.2.

    Hi
You can set a default in the item attributes. Just click on the item in the application builder page and scroll down until you see default. You can specify it in a number of ways defined by a drop down.

  • Using fo:page-number In IF statement?

To preface my question, I am trying to get a different header (none in fact) on the first page of a template than all the rest of the pages with RTF output. I have tried the technique proposed in a couple of other posts (http://winrichman.blogspot.com/2008/08/different-page-header-and-footer.html) to no avail. I am using template builder 10.1.3.3.3. I'm not sure what the version of BI on our servers is, but it's really irrelevant because I'm stuck with it regardless (it's whatever version comes with PeopleSoft PeopleTools 8.48.17).
As others have noted, the "Different Header On First Page" feature of Word works fine for PDF output, but not for RTF.
What I was hoping I could do is just add a simple conditional statement to the header text so that the header would only be printed if the value of fo:page-number is greater than 1. I have tried doing several things such as:
    <?if: fo:page-number > 1?>header<?end if?>
    <?if: <?fo:page-number?> > 1?>header<?end if?>
And nothing seems to work. I am fairly ignorant when it comes to the xsl fo stuff, so I was hoping my problem is just something with syntax. I have however, read a few things that may indicate this type of thing just won't work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    <?if: fo:page-number > 1?>header<?end if?>
    <?if: <?fo:page-number?> > 1?>header<?end if?>
This won't work. You cannot use the fo:page-number in conditions.
Different First page and other page stuff works in RTF

  • ?fo:page-number? in if statement in the header section

    Hi,
is it possible to put the <?fo:page-number?> in if statements??
    like <?if:fo:page-number>1?>STOP<?end if?>
i have a requirement that the column should not be displayed in the succeeding page except for page 1. also the column have the table property REPEAT AS HEADER ROW.
    example:
    Page 1
    DOG
    CAT
    RAT
    FISH
    PAGE 2
    CAT
    RAT
    FISH
    PAGE 3
    CAT
    RAT
    FISH
thanks, and i hope im able to explain well my problem . . .

    Hi,
Did u try using the MS Word native functionalit --Option : Different First page –header option or Different Odd & Even Pages.
hopefully this will help you to achieve your requirement.

  • Problem while Binding multiple Parameters to View Object[Solved]

    Hello,
I am facing problem while binding multiple parameters with different data types in View Object query. For example suppose I have following query in my view object.
    SELECT Header.ADDED_BY
    Header.BATCH_ID,
    FROM BATCH_HEADER Header
    WHERE :1='deptAdmin' and Header.BATCH_ID
    in
    select batch_id from batch_header_dept_mapping where dept_id in(SELECT * FROM TABLE(CAST(:0 AS TABLE_OF_VARCHAR)))
I am able to pass the Bind variables of Array type for : 0 , using Steve's ArrayOfStringDomain example. (ArrayOfStringDomain) .
But after passing value to second bind parameter ie.. :1 .
I am getting the error as follows.
    ## Detail 0 ##
java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes: expected - got CHAR.
    I tried to set
    setWhereClauseParam(1,11); // 11 is Number
setWhereClauseParam(0,arr); // arr is arr = new Array(descriptor, conn, deptid); for in parameter.
But of no use , Please let me know if any thing missing form me or have any another solutions. Also please provide me any example if have.
    Thank you,
    Sandeep

    hi.
but when using non-Oracle named parameter binding styles as you've done (ie. , :1), regardless of what number you give each bind variable, they are sequenced 0, 1, 2 etc. As such your bind variable :1 is the 0th parameter, and your bind variable  is the 1st parameter.Your statment is correct.
:1 i used was actually on 0th position and :0 was on 1 position. Like you said in sequence 0,1,2 etc. Now i get the answer and i corrected My mistake by assigning right values to right binding variable. and problem just solve.
    Thanks Chris.
