Page numbering starting on second page...
I can't for the life of me figure out what I'm doing wrong here. All I want to do is start my numbering from 1 on the second page, leaving the first page (title page) without a page number. I know this can be done because it is formatted this way on the screenplay template, but after searching the manual, online help, and this forum and I cannot find anything that will make this work. I've also tried "view invisible" to see how the template is formatted but I cannot get it to work on a new document. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Try this:
1. Start with a blank doc and turn on Show Invisibles.
2. Click on Insert > Section Break
3. In the Inspector, click on the Layout Inspector (2nd icon from left)
4. Put your cursor in the second section of the doc
5. In the Layout Inspector, click on Section tab
6. Make sure First Page is Different is checked, and Use Previous Headers & Footers is UNchecked
7. Use the option to begin your numbering where you want it to start

I'm writing essays for my AP World History class and I need a cover page that doesn't have a page number as the first page of the document. Then my essays will go in order from the second page, but the page numbers need to start as 1. I have already clicked "First page is different" in the inspector under Section, but it starts the page numbering at 2 instead of the needed one. Any ideas on how to do this?
ThanksHave you tried setting the starting page number to zero? Then the next page should be #1.

I have a document in Pages 09 that I need to have a title page. This page should have no page number so the numbers start on page 2. I have managed to get rid of the page number on the first page, but Pages keeps starting the numbers from 2 on the second page. I tried to set "Start at:" to 1, but that did have no effect. Is there any solution?

Let's say I have a document that is 5 pages long. Now I want to insert the page numbers, starting on page 3 with the number "3" and leaving out pages 1 and 2. How do I do that?
I just found the answer myself. I don't know how to delete my question, so I'll just write the reply to the answer - just in case somebody needs to know: Insert a section brake after the second page and then choose "Start on 3".

"Ghost" page numbers on every second page - how to remove?
Hi,
I'm setting a short book with Pages and after importing from Word, I'm seeing duplicate, partially hidden additional page numbers on every second page. I'd like to remove them entirely, keeping Pages' page numbering. Removing and inserting page numbers doesn't help and the second set of numbers can't be selected in any way (clicking, dragging don't work). One solution would be to re-import from word, deselecting page numbers beforehand, but I'd rather like avoid this step as I made many changes in Pages.

Sometimes in the process of importing from Word, page numbers are improperly converted to Master Objects or Background Objects. Go to Format > Advanced > Make Master Objects Selectable. Then, with the cursor in the Margin of the document, press the Command Key (Cursor changes to an Arrow) and drag the cursor diagonally across the page number to select it. Then press the Delete key and the number should be gone. You need to check carefully to make sure that you have eliminated all the instances. There may be one per Section.

Any help would be appreiciated, using Chrome, Windows XP Pro with SP3, Pentium 4 2.4GHz, with 2GB Ram, with Nvidia Gforce 5200 video card! Too old a system??
hi, all three are pretty much the same, and its not a buffering issue. I hav Verizon Fios and had a WUGNET speed test show download speed being 11.3 Mbps and upload of 1.24. It was possible the Html was slightly better but not by much.

That should be fine for system specs. My first guess would be network bandwidth issues. Does it seem like the video/audio buffers fast enough or does the buffer continue to run out when the item is played? Try these two links out, do either of them play better? Why I failed to start a second webserver in same weblogic server installed one machine

I want to start a second webserver bindding with intranet IP address,
same time, one webserver had been started in this weblogic server in
extranet ip address.
But i cann't configurate it successfully.Why ? Help me !

They need to use different IP address and the same port number if they are to
be clustered. If they are not to be cluster they can simply use different port
numbers.
On Unix, the ifconfig command can be used to create virtual IP addresses.

Post server reboot , instance 1 crashes on starting the second one
Hi ,
We had a server reboot ( Solaris SPARC 64 bit) and had to shutdown the application running on RAC system on 2 servers.
now post the activity , we are trying to bring up the instances but whenever one comes up the other goes down.
If we try to start the second one , first goes down.

How can I start a second window of a second profile through the command line?
I have two profiles set up, 'default' and 'second'. If both are already running how can I start a second window of profile 'second'?
firefox -p 'second' : opens a new window of the default and,
firefox -p 'second' -no-remote : tells me that firefox is already running.I don't think that this is possible.<br />
You need to open this second instance (Firefox profile folder) with the -no-remote command line switch and that makes it impossible to open external links via the command line or via a double-click.<br />
You can only open a link in such an instance by dragging the link on the tab bar of that Firefox window. -
I'm trying to input phone numbers starting with 0 into Numbers Spreadsheets. It keeps deleting the 0. any clues anyone?
select the cells (or column) where you are entering the phone numbers and change the format to "Text":
Then "Natural" way to write numbers is to omit leading zeros.
Another ways is to leave the the cell format as "Automatic" and type a single quote BEFORE entering the phone number... like this:

MMy boyfriend went to turn in his iPhone5 and a bunch of numbers started showing up on his screen. Why is this happening?

How to start a second X11 display from within X ?
For a game i am playing (freespace2 open) i would like to run it on a second X11 virtual display.
Following Fs2_open_on_Linux#fs2_open_freezes_X i am able to start second display with xinit -- :1 , but this only works from console.
Also the method used there (copying the mit-magic-cookie) doesn't appear to be very user-friendly.
So i have 2 questions :
is there a way to give a user permanent permission to start a second display ?

Unfortunately fs2_open crashes with a segfault after switching back and forth between display 0 and display 1 a few times.
When running fs_open on display 0 it never crashes.
Sofar i've used startx -- :1 , xinit -- :1 and xinit /usr/bin/fs2-open -- :1 , and they all give the same problem.

If you using kde, you could make life alot easier if you need multiple xsession by running kdm...
I mean my system boots 21 second including starting KDM starting from xinittab... if I add it as a deamon in rc.conf it takes 36 seconds -
I have recently changed from Word to Pages 5.5. I want to create a document with a title page (no number) and the second page as Page 1. It is quite simple to do in Word, but I cannot find a way to do it in Pages.

Insert a section break
Place cursor in the newly created section (page)
In the Document panel:
select Insert page number: 1.
Under Numbering, select start at: 1
It starts numbering from number 1 in the new page (2nd page).
Now place the cursor in the previous page (Ist page).
Select Hide on first page section.
This hides page number in the first page of the document.

I'm in the work of making user manual with different autonumber paragraph headings.(eg.1.xyz,2.abc,......).I have applied a running head header and has to apply a footer with page number in the format paragraph heading autonumber. pagenumber.ie - 1.1,1.2,........and when second paragraph heading starts it should be 2.1,2.2,.......i tried inserting variables like <chapnum>,<section num> but its not giving the desired o/p.How i can resolve this problem?

If your goal is to restart the page numbering inside a single file, you are out of luck.
Restarting page numbering with the beginning of a new section seems only useful if the heading of that section start at a new page; therefore you could just split the document for every new section and then control page numbering as you like.
If I have misunderstood your requirement, please share more detail.

After connecting to a video beamer screen changed format
I connected the mac book to a video beamer and the screen turned sort of to a wide screen. like when i open a new window it is wider than the screen. stayed that way after disconnecting the beamer. I can't find any place to change that back.
