Page prints too small

InDesgin Newbie, Day Five!
CS3, v5.0.2. Doc size is 7.5 x 16.25.
When I print to my Xerox 7700 on 11 x17 paper, the piece is about 1/16" short. When I print to 12 x 18 paper, it's about 1.25" short! I've checked all the settings and prefs I can think of that would affect this and can't seem to find a solution. Why can't I just hit print and get it to come out the size it needs to be? I have another piece that is 4 x 9 printing on letter paper and it prints without any problems. What gives? A plain English answer is needed here. I've been using the "other" product for over 15 years. This issue is really putting a dark cloud over the switch to InDesign for me.

My file is pretty simple: 2 pages, 1 placed Photoshop image on each side, 1 placed Illustrator eps file (a dieline) on each side and one very small copy violator. Since I'm new to the program, I wasn't sure if there was some sort of program-wide preference I was unaware of. In my use of the "other" product, I am able to open a file and print it to any paper size I wish and the piece itself does not get scaled. A possible, but impractical, workaround for this is to save PDFs and print from Acrobat, but I'd like to avoid adding steps to my workflow unless absolutely necessary.
On a similar note, a coworker had trouble printing to our larger-format HP. She had a 20 x 30 poster, trying to print to our 24 inch roll-fed HP. She had crops turned on and the page centered, but when it printed it would cut off the marks, and chop the print off at 15 inches.
I appreciate all the help on this topic - this new kid will be visiting the forums frequently in the coming weeks.

I recently installed the driver for this printer from the HP site and replaced some empty ink cartridges. So, printer now prints.
Trouble is, whatever I do in Preferences, or in Word, Acrobat, anything, the page prints too small and centred. The setting in preferences is A4
When I ask the printer to print the TEST pages, i.e the 'Self Test Diagnostic Page' and 'Print Quality Diagnositcs Page' they are both perfect and the correct size.
I am using an older version of Mac OS (10.4.....) but not had trouble before.
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Hi @migrations
If I am not mistaken, you need to increase the font size within the program you are printing from. Be sure not to increase the zoom, the font size needs to be larger for the print size to be increased.
You may also see a scale to option, or fit to page, in the print preview, this might help too.

Hi Ellis,
When you say the default font size, is this set by the template you use for a new document? If so, create your own. Open a blank template, set the font size, and Save as Template... with a new name.
In Pages > Preferences > General > For new Documents > Use Template.
Choose your template. When you open Pages, it will open that template.
File > New will also open that template.
The font of a document from someone else has been set by the author of that document. You will have to change it.
Also, have a look at View > Zoom. Perhaps the font is not small, but your view of the page is small.

Anything printed with firefox prints too small

anything printed with firefox prints too small. If I print and email it prints in the center top of the page and is just larger than a credit card. if I adjust the scale to 100% the it prints what could fit on one page onto 4 pages and prints a small portion in the center top of the page and is just larger than a credit card.

Ok i think i fixed this issues.
i went to about:config print.print_margin_bottom (and also left, right and top) and right clicked reset (it took out the previous 0.5 value). now the pages look normal on print preview without the large margin

I use a Compaq laptop computer, belong to Frontier.Com and TRY to print on C3180 All In One. It was working fine, but now
when I print emails, the printing font is SO SMALL I can bearly read it. How do I increase this?
I do NOT have this problem when printing something from Internet other than email.
HP has not given me any help that works so far.

You may need to go back and start over. Reset the router back to factory defaults, log on as the admin, set up security, DHCP, and make sure the IP address pool has enough IP addresses to lease to ALL of the computers/devices that will connect to that the router.

Adobe Form's First Page printing perfectly on 132 column sheet but further pages prints with small font size

Dear All,
We are facing a strange behavior of adobe form.
we made form for SAP CRM which is printing in 132 column(28cm * 33cm) sheet. what we are observing is, first page is printing perfectly on the pre printed Invoice sheet but if invoice has more items to be displayed then second page prints with small font size or you can say second page seems to be zoomed out to smaller page size. In Preview Second page onwards also looks perfect. Now we are in a fix what to do to come out of this issue.

Adobe Page Size Adjusted.
Select paper Source by Page Size ticked in Adobe form properties
But still result is non satisfactory. Please Help.

a) The size of the pages of PDF which you are printing. LETTER
b) Does all pages of the PDF are of same size? YES
c) What is the page size set in the Printer and what is the actual size of the paper which you have put in the tray? LETTER
d) Does this problem also happens on the virtual printer which you might have on your system (Try either Microsoft MPS Document writer or Adobe PDF Printer) No VIRTUAL PRINTERS

Yosemite Apple Mail prints too small

After Yosemite upgrade the body of text in Apple Mail messages prints extremely small. 2 Printers tested - HP Laserjet 5100tn and a Konica Minolta 5500 with a Fiery controller. Printing to a PDF file first is OK.
This only seems to occur when I print messages that I've sent or when I print a message where someone has replied to a message that I sent previously. Only the body of the messages that I sent prints too small. The From, Subject, Date, To, My signature, and anything from messages that have been sent to me from someone else are all OK. In messages that were replies to me from messages that I sent to others, everything is OK except the body of the message that I originally sent to that individual.

I have had this issue as well and have not really been able to resolve it. Yosemite Mail app doesn't seem to have the option that previous OS did where you could choose "Scale Message to Fit," "Rewrap Message to Fit," etc.
Am I missing something here or did they disable this option? I know I can change font or increase font size in preferences, but I don't really need to increase font size for display, only for printing, which seems to be very tiny no matter what I try to do.

The Firefox Page Zoom feature does a domain by domain level of saving the users preferred zoom level settings, there is no default Page Zoom level setting in Firefox.

Print too small to read from printer with Page shrink on 30%

When printing some emails on Xerox 7225 the print is too small to read even with page shrink on 30%. latest email is from an AOL account and header lines do wrap. This problem is new.

Select the email
'File' > 'Print Preview'
You can change the size of the font by changing the 'Scale'.
increase the Scale to increase the font.
so start by selecting: Scale = 100%
When all looks ok, click on 'Print' button

View page source shows fine on screen, but prints too small

The page itself prints fine, but the page source prints WAY too small (like 12 lines in about 1/2 inch).

Did you try to zoom in that page via Ctrl and + (View > Text Size)?

Print Too Small from Photoshop CS4 with HP 8500 All In One Printer

I'm running Windows XP with CS4 and latest patches and drivers. When I print an image to my HP 8500 All in one printer, the printout is too small. Instead of a centered 4 x 6 image on the page I get a 1 x 1-1/4 inch small print of the image in the upper left hand corner.
I re-installed CS3 and it works perfectly as do any other print options, such as word, etc. But from Photoshop CS4 I can find no way to print to this printer without the image shrinking in size. If I print to another printer at the same sitting, the image is fine. So it's a PS CS4 vs. HP 8500 unique problem I guess.
I've see this post in other forms and no help as yet. Does anyone have this one on their radar. I really like this printer, but it's quite annoying.
By the way, If I print to a PDF from PS CS4, the pdf file image is fine. That's another end around for printing also. HMMMM.
I did contact HP and they put the problem squarely back on Adobe. No partnership there.

Will the printer print from any app?
I know it sounds like a dumb question, but you didn't actually say... And I admit to looking for software problems on an occasion or two when I had forgotten to plug in cables.

How can I get text printed out larger? It prints too small to read.

I have an hp psc 1610 all-in-one printer. When I print articles from the internet the text is too small. The options to change size only seem to affect the screen size, not the printer size. It prints fine in my word processor, etc.
