Page proup privileges

Is there a way we can allow users to manage a page group
but not the templates or style.
We don't want users to create/edit templates and style.
But they be should be able to create new sub pages, edit existing
sub pages, and create content. While creating a page they should be able to choose from a list of existing templates.

(I dont want to monopolize all your time, my last question for the day)
IMHO maybe a different way of solving this problem,
is to create a page group privilege which can
load content and create sub pages.
That way templates can be controlled by the overall administrator and the page group administrator can just be concerned about using the existing templates and load content and create sub-pages

I have a page with 4sub pages. How can I make one of the sub page, let say sub page 3, become invisible based on the user group? I define the A privilege for the sub page 3 but it seems not working at all. It's still showing all the sub pages to all users regardless of the privilege that I've just set. Please help!

First, make sure you have not set access to any groups (except maybe portal admins) at the PAGE GROUP level. (Navigator > Page Groups tab > Properties link next to the page group > Access tab.) Any access set to a group at the page group level will override access on any sub pages, tabs, or items within that page group.

How to add common user to sudoers file?

I have been working with other linux distros (Opensuse, Ubuntu), now I sticked to Mac :-)
I have a problem or I dont understand well this Mac Distro. I have a user: john01 that I made "computer administrator" when the Lion OS was first installed.
Well, then I create another called admin, also "computer administrator".
Then I lower my user john01 to "standard user" (this is the user I work with). So now I know this user has no priviledges so I can test stuff without troubling the system.
Then, I wanted to make john01 able to use de sudo command. So I terminal as root user, then I used visudo to edit the /etc/sudoers file and I add te following line as told in the man pages:
# User privilege specification
root    ALL=(ALL) ALL
john01     ALL=(ALL) ALL
%admin    ALL=(ALL) ALL
(these are the sudoers file permissions)
sh-3.2# ls -la sudoers

OK, everything shoud be right... BUT, if I try to sudo any command in a terminal windows as john01 user I get this message:

Sorry, try again.
So, it seems that the jonh01 user added to sudoers doesnt work :-/

With a default sudoers file, alberto cannot sudo, but adding
alberto ALL=(ALL) ALL
to /etc/sudoers he can.
So what you have done is correct.

Saving PDF form on Desktop

I am developing an Interactive Adobe Form using WebDynpro ABAP.
On the form I have a button (UI Element), on pressing of this button the form should get saved on presentation server (Local Desktop).

it is possible but it has one disadvantage.
You must place following .js file in the User (or App) JavaScript folder (C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\Javascripts):

Solaris Privs

I have a question about the following from the man pages on privileges:
PRIV_FILE_DAC_WRITE
Allow a process to write a file or directory whose permission bits or ACL do not allow the process write permission. All privileges are required to write files owned by UID 0 in the absence of an effective UID of 0.
I am unclear on what that means - I ask because of a truss output I collected on a process that appeared to be hung from the user's perspective but was burning up the cpu via top:

Yes, you are right. The EACCES indicates that the process is not allowed to open that file for writing. I guess that the [file_dac_write] indicates that the system, upon failure to write to the file, also checked if the user had the appropriate privilege (file_dac_write), which he didn't.
You could take a look at the manpage for 'open' and see what it says about EACCES.

Use managed beans in navigation model

Hello
I have a bean called UserInfoBean.
UserInfoBean is managed in faces-config.xml and uses a Java API to determine if a user has access to a page within my WebCenter Portal. The method is called isUserAuthorized.
In default-navigation-model.xml I try to set the visible field to #{userInfoBean.isUserAuthorized} but it says that 'userInfoBean is an unknown variable'.
Do I need to manage UserInfoBean in adfc-config.xml??

What's the scope of the bean?
Any specific reason why you are not using the built-in declarative security that ADF/WebCenter gives you. You can assign page/taskflow privileges without having to write any code.

For each of the security bulletin, you would be having affected software. So first of all, you need to find out which product/software has triggered this security alert, then you have to install the appropriate fix for it.
Since the list what you have given is big, I took the first one as an example.
If you go to this link https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/security/ms13-084.aspx, you would be having a list of affected software section. Find the list of software's mentioned in this article which got installed in the server/servers which triggered
an alert from your security tool, then download the corresponding fix for it and apply it.

My boss today requested me to provide a easy, safe way for average users in my company to manage the contents of Portal themselves.
My boss request users can upload files, documents, images and text into Portal.
I know that Oracle Portal provides security control for editing Portal. But it also provides a quite complex operations for manage the contents of Portal.
I am afraid average users cannot manage it easily.
Can anyone have experience on the issues and can you give me suggestion?

We can give privileges to manage the contents of the portal page.
Create a group and add the users into that group and for the page level privilege >>add this group as manage.
The members of the group can manage the page.I know the above is the standard strategy for users to manage the portal contents.
But, as an average user, I think it is still to complicated to manage.
For my case, I need to provide a means for average users to add news to the portal, so my priliminary idea is that I will create a portlet for news entries such as news heading, hyperlinks, text and save the entries in DB. Then, on the homepage of Portal, I will create another portlet for displaying the news headlines with hyperlink pointing to the actual URL.

Getting Insufficient Privileges Error while running Pages in Jdeveloper

When I am running my pages in JDeveloper, I am getting the Error:
"You have insufficient privileges for the current operation." and the Application login page is being shown.
Looking at the log window, I see that the system expects my page to be shown correctly. However the login screen gets displayed.
I suspected that my login/password is incorrect in Jdeveloper Project settings. But I tried that. It is finw. Any suggestions as to what the problem might be would be great.

I can't import my iTunes files into pages, how can i fix the privileges problem?

when i try to import any mp3 file into a pages document, i get an access privileges error saying it is either corrupt, damaged or "can't be used" because I don't have access privileges. This has happened since I moved my iTunes library to an external drive. Anyone have any solutions? The privileges on both the library folder, and all its files are set to read and write for sharing and permissions.

If you do not have done so, set the "Ignore Ownership" flag on the external drive. YOu can set this flag from the "File > Get Info" panel for the drive.
How is your external drive formatted?
Can other applications open these mp3 files? QuickTime? Do they play in the Finder preview?
Do the filenames contain special charcters?

I am working on Customers Online module.
I have added a normal button on a standard page through personalization .
The destination for the button is set to call the seeded Create organization page

System Admin --> functions --> XXIIMC_NG_ORG_CREATE is a copy of standard function IMC_NG_ORG_CREATE.
It calls the page "OA.jsp?page=/oracle/apps/imc/ocong/party/organization/webui/ImcCreateOrg&HzPuiAddressEvent=CREATE"
When i click on the button i get the error *"You have insufficient privileges for the current operation. Please contact your System Administrator"*
1. The profiles *"FND Function Validation Level"* and *"FND Validation Level"* are set to NONE
2. Bounced apache also.
3. The responsibility Customers Online Superuser is assigned to my user.
We are doing R12 upgrade. The similar functionality is working fine in 11i.
Please let me know what could be the reason of this error and how to correct it.

I have a custom OAF page in R11 which is working fine.
Same page is giving below errors in R12.
Any suggestions how to resolve this issue..please advice.

The custom page is a selfsecured page?
ie, it will be accessed without login?
What is the profile option fnd_debuging_level 's value set to.

Framework Validation Level
FND Function Validation LEvel
FND Validation Level
to none, still you are facing the issue,
At what level you tried the profile options.
