Page size in pdf

I converted a 1/4 page Word doc into .pdf but got converted as a full page.  I want it converted as the same 1/4 page.  How can I do that?

Your only option is to use crop. What you are trying to do is generally done in the original document, not in Acrobat. If you want to scale it you can print it to a new PDF with the size you want and scaling turned on.

  • Change page size in PDF (Acrobat 9)

I have created a PDF file and under document properties it says that the default page size is 11.69 x 8.26 in.  I want to change this to A3, but cannot find the option or any help on this.
The PDF was created using the PDF printer from an application that normally only prints to A3.  This created a separate PDF file for each sheet of the document, which I then combined using the combine option in Acrobat.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks

Where did you see default page size? I can see only page size.

  • How do you change default page size in pdf?

I purchased CREATE solely to create a pdf file from a scanned document. I created the PDF but the default page size is 30.15 x 20.83 INCHES. I cannot seem to change the page size. I called support services 4 times (talking with Sakthivel, Shashank, Medhet, and one other.) Each time they indicated that they would connect me to the correct people and they disconnected. I want some answers please. This seems to be a simple question. Is Adobe CREATE merely a scam?

CreatePDF, perhaps?  Try the forum at http://forums.adobe.com/community/createpdf

  • Setting page size of PDF converted from .ps by Preview

I'm trying to generate an A4 PDF from an A4 .ps file, but Preview changes the page dimensions to 8.5"x11". I'm assuming/hoping there must be some way of setting the default page size, but I can't find it in Preview's preferences, or in the printing section of System Preferences.
    Some background, if it matters:
The .ps was generated by Inkscape, which isn't aware of the OS X printing services, but does allow PostScript output to a file. The bounding box defined at the top of the .ps is A4 proportioned (596:842 = 1:1.414), but I don't know what the units are.

    Hi Lynne,
I can't remember if any of the defaults changed in Acrobat v.9 (it's at v.XI now). However, the options in the Acrobat Print settings are "sticky", so perhaps it was set for one job and not noticed when yours was run.

  • How to calculate output page size of pdf map request?

    Hello,
i have a problem regarding requesting a map as pdf and the resulting page size of the pdf in MapViewer version Ver11_B071001.
i defined a bbox in srid 82015 that has a width of 297m and a height of 420m. The scale is 1:1000.
According to the documentation the standard device resolution is 96dpi, so the above bbox will result in an image with 1122 pixel width and 1587 pixel height.
A request with format="PNG_STREAM" returns an image with exact these dimensions.
But a request with format="PDF_URL" returns a pdf document which dimension is 395.8mm * 559.9mm.
I expected a dimension of 297mm * 420mm (which is DIN A3 as pagesize), so 1mm on the printed pdf equals 1000mm in the real world (scale 1:1000).
    Where am i doing wrong?
    Thanks for help in advance,
    Dirk

    Hi Dirk,
based on some comments received from the PDF group, the PDF uses "pt" as reference.
96 dpi can be said as 96 px per in
    so 96 px = 1 in
    1 in = 1/96 px
    1 px = 0.75pt (in 96 dpi system)
    1 in = 72pt
    1 in = 2.54cm = 25.4mm = 0.0254m
so in your calculation, you need to multiply by 0.75 in order to convert "px" into "pt".

  • Changing Page Size of PDFs

I am trying Acrobat X on XP and 9 on Snow Leopard. Probably my question is one of FAQ, but I could not find a solution on the web.
I would like to know if I can easily change the page size (dimension)  of a PDF file. For example, I have a PDF whose dimension is 50 mm x 100 mm with 1200 dpi. I want to change this PDF to 100 mm x 200 mm with 600 dpi. Because OCR function automatically down sample the file to 600 dpi, but I don't want to loose the detail of images.
    Is there any easy solution?
If I "Print" the file to a new PDF from Preview.app print dialog using a custom page size and 200% scale factor, I can save the file in 100 mm x 200 mm. But Acrobat cause an error while OCRing this new PDF.

I think this may help. I had a different problem, but similar.
There is a setting in the OS X print dialog box (under Copies & Pages) called "Paper Handling". By default it is set to "Scale to fit paper size: Letter" This has taken me weeks to figure out. We were trying to print large format (30" x 42") PDFs and they were alway coming out 8.5 x 11. I hope this helps you out.

  • Custom Page Size and PDF

I am using CR 2008 (I have purchased it and the upgrade was well worth the cost); HOWEVER, it is not doing the same thing on my development environment as my server environment.
I am using asp.net 2008 and in a web environment I am using a web form to create a CR document and show it as a pdf in a web browser.
All of the forms work great and as expected.  I have a form that is a label 7/8" X 2 1/4 ".  In the development environment (vista 32), the web app pulls up the label and everthing works.
When I move the code to my production envoroment (Windows Server 2003, asp.net 2.0)  The labels come up full screen.  This does not seem to be printer related as it work on a 8 1/2 X 11 ink jet printer in the dev enviroment.   The same machine using the same code over the Internet from the production site does not give me the same report.
    Any ideas or similar issues?
    Thanks

    Hello, David;
The usual cause for this is not having access to the correct printer diver on the server.
A web application may not have rights to the printer drivers folder.
The correct printer driver for the network printer may not be installed to the server.
If the application is loading a default printer driver, it may not have the ability to format the correct size.
Our Modules utility is useful to compare drivers loading in each case.
    [Modules Utility|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006252802008E/modules.zip]
Run our Modules utility on the working server when viewing a report through the browser. Save the resulting file as working.mdl.
Do the same on the non-working server. Save that as nonWorking.mdl.
I usually minimize it in the task bar until the application is running the report and then open it and choose File|New .... Modules in Memory.

  • PDF created from Office 2013 with Acrobat X doesn't have correct page size

We have a process of quickly creating PDFs along with combining several Word files to PDF by utilizing the "right click" on a Word file(s) to save as a PDF within Windows.  Many times, our page size in Word is 5.5 X 8.5 and it does not save actual page size once PDF is created by using the "right click" and defaults to 8 1/2 X 11.  Is there a way to fix this or edit a setting?  It works fine from within Word if you "Save as" or "Export" but we need the right click to save as actual page size.  Please help. It worked fine in all previous versions of Word/Office.  Thanks!

    Hi pwhite2315,
Could you please let me know what version of Acrobat are you using.
Try using 'Create PDF' option under Acrobat ribbon in your word file and check for the same.
Also, please open 'Preferences' for Acrobat PDFMaker and check what 'Conversion Settings' have you selected.
    Let me know.

  • Is it possible to Default "Choose page source by PDF page size" option in the "Print" dialog box?

I have an SSRS report that is rendered as a PDF file; the report has many columns and utilizes 11inx17in (Landscape) paper. However, once the report is rendered and users try to print the report they have to manually select the 'Choose Paper source by PDF page size' option in order to get the report to print on the correct paper (otherwise it defaults to standard letter size - landscape orientation).
I'm aware of 'Print Presets' functionality; however, I don't believe they apply to this scenario. Is there a config file/registry setting/anything that can be specified to automatically set the 'Choose paper source by PDF page size' print setting = On/True/Checked?
Any help would be greatly appreciated...

  • Different page sizes in one pdf file will not scale to print correctly

    Hello all,
I have a pdf document that contains three different page sizes; 8.5"x11", 11"x17" and 34"x22".  These pdf files are custom manuals and we print many of these over the course of a month.
In the older versions of Adobe Acrobat when printing this type of file, I could click print, select the page setup size to 11"x17", then select shrink oversize pages (or fit, depending), and choose paper by pdf page size and I would get the following pages from the printer - 8.5"x11" page would print on a 8.5"x11" paper, 11"x17" on 11"x17" and (most importantly) 34"x22" on 11"x17".  We do this because our printer does not have paper larger than 11"x17" yet the customer also receives a soft copy of the file and many times prints the large pages full size as needed on their large format plotters.
With the newer versions of Acrobat, this will not work.  The only way these files will print automatically is to scale the 22"x34" down to 8.5"x11".   Why would I want to scale it smaller than my largest available paper size?  Also, all of the 11"x17" pages in a multi page size document will come out of the printer rotated 180° yet Adobe shows them correctly when the file is opened.
Also, when I use the settings above, the print preview box shows the document correctly!  The HP technicians have the latest drivers installed and they have shown me where it seems that Adobe is not even sending the larger sheets but instead stops the printing process with an error.  So I try to send a 20 page document but Adobe stops at the first 22x34 page.
We have now lost our old computers with every last old version of Acrobat that I could use to make this work due to mandatory hardware and OS upgrades.  I must find a way to print these documents without individually selecting different pages to print and then trying to assemble the document afterward.
How do I preserve the pages sizes in my document and print the large pages scaled down to the largest paper size I have available in my printer?
    Thanks ahead of time.

    Ajlan,
Thank you for your time.  I am still having the issue.  I am using Adobe reader 11.0.09 and Adobe Acrobat 10.1.12.  Neither one have the option in the print menu that you show for a physical printer.  They only offer that option for an Adobe PDF creation driver.
It seems as though the printer you have selected in your menu is only for creating a pdf.  I need to physically print the pdf.  Do you have this same option when you select a physical printer?

  • How to allow domain users to customize  Adobe PDF  printer page size in Printer Preferences

    Hi
I am able to customize  Adobe PDF  printer page size in Printer Preferences in admin login but not able to customize  Adobe PDF  printer page size in domian users login...
can I have a solution to customize  Adobe PDF  printer page size in domin user login

WOW! I was amazed to see that within minutes of posting my initial thread, I tried something that works.
Apparently, the only way is will actually convert is if you select the regular Print option in the File tab. Then, change the Printer to Adobe PDF & the Paper Size to 11x17. It also worked for 36"x48" becuase I created a custom size named "Poster", so I changed the paper size to Poster & it worked!
I hope this helps someone. I searched for an existing forum on this issue off & on for MONTHS before creating this thread. If anyone has any suggestions why the Adobe PDF tab /PDF Maker wouldn't work, I'd like to know.
