Let you guide by your instinct while moving textfields
You just have to have a feeling for it... And it will develop with practicing...
I often publish and re-publish a lot of times to see the end result and go back change and republish and change again and republish... (that's because I add a lot of stuff post-publishing)
What you could do is put the stuff as you want and then do a "select all" and move it to the hidden part... It should stick like you wanted it... If when published the result isn't what you wanted select all and move the part you want to change to the not-hidden part, modify, select all and again move...
Will spend an hour moving it publishing editing publishing but once you figured it out it's done forever... You then would just have to change px when publishing...

  • Does 'Export Relative to Page Size' NOT work in Kindle books & some other ereaders?

Hi I've been looking at this issue that has made the wheels in my head work overtime! I've made a book with pictures for the Kindle store and all the images look too small.
I've used Indesign 5.5 on a Win 7 PC.  My file has multiple graphic images and I am exporting it as an epub. When exporting from Indesign you have 2 main options when exporting graphics. You can display them Relative to page size, or have them a Fixed pixel size. In age of multiple size device screens Relative to page size is the logical option because it should be able to make images on a page fill roughly the same percentage of the screen size whatever device you read it on. However I am finding that it doesn't function with all programmes.
I created an epub. Exported it with the Relative to page size option. This works great when viewed on PC with 3rd party software such as Sigil, or in iBooks for iPhone/iPad or Adobe Digital Editions ereader software.
However the same epub the images DO NOT display relative to page size when viewed with Calibre ereader software (images display far too small).
Also, I have converted that same epub (using Calibre) to a mobi. The images in the .mobi DO NOT display relative to page size when viewed with Kindle for PC, Kindle for iPad, Kindle Fire, Kindle Keyboard or Calibre.
Now. I recognise that my test is in no way universal but something is happening that is making the same file display relative to page size with some software/devices and not relative with other software devices. I've been wondering Is this a bug in the Indesign software or is it not possible on Kindle. Has anybody experienced this. And my main objective is to find out if there is a way, using Indesign or changing the css code, to make images display relative to page size on the Kindle?!
Any help, thoughts, ideas, knowledge would be appreciated!

InDesign doesn't have an export to Kindle function. It is not designed to export in the Kindle MOBI format.
There are many things which are lost when converting from EPUB to MOBI files. I'd recommend doing some reading on Elizabeth Castro's blog where she talks about some of these limitations. Also read her book "EPUB Straight to the Point for her section on converting to Kindle.

Another good place to ask is in the Mobile Read forums where many long-term eBook experts reside: http://www.mobileread.com/forums/

  • Wrong PDF page size in Excel

When I use PDFMaker to "print" the print area of one particular spreadsheet, the Adobe PDF page size is 11.18 x 14.47 inches.
When I use Adobe PDF printer, the Adope PDF page size is 8.5 x 11.0.
    Excel Page size = Letter (8.5 x 11.0)
    Excel Page orientation = Portrait
Excel Page Parameter = Fit print area to 1 page x 1 page
    Selected Printer = Adobe PDF
Selected Paper size in Adobe PDF dialog boxes = Letter
Selected Paper size in PDFMaker Preferences = Letter
When I change the Excel Page Size to Tabloid (11 x 17):
Adobe PDF printer creates a page size of 11.0 x 17.0
Adobe PDF Maker creates a page size of 11.0 x 17.0
Can anyone shed light on the problem experienced by PDFMaker on the Letter sized request?
    I am running:
    Windows XP, SP3
    MS Excel 2007
    Acrobat 9.1.2
    PDFMOfficeAddin.dll version 9.1.0.0
    PDFMExcel.dll version 9.1.0.0

    Hello everyone!
It's been long since this topic was active but I just wanted to share my solution to a similar problem.
I was trying to use the built-in Save as PDF function of Excel 2007 and my sheet which also had some headers and footers was not coming out correctly.
From Page Layout tab, I clicked the small icon on the corner of the Page Setup. Then I clicked the Header/Footer tab and removed the tick next to where it says "Scale with document" and viola! I miraculously could export my sheet in the correct page size.
May this be helpful to not just who have had this problem before, but also the ones that will come afterwards!
    Cheers!

  • Paper Source by Page Size

I often print documents on letter or legal size paper. I'm currently switching my office over from Windows based products (and Acrobat 9 Standard) to Mac, and upgraded to the newest Acrobat as well.
When printing, I've noticed that the printer defaults to letter size documents for every PDF, even if the PDF is on legal paper. There is no option to select paper source by page size when printing.
However, for each document, I can go to Properties > Advanced, and there's an option for "Paper Source by Page Size." However, this only applies to the current document, and not future documents.
Am I missing something here? Why can't I default to select the paper source by page size? This was an option in Windows and Acrobat 9, so is this feature actually gone now?

    Hi Andrew,
Apple made some pretty significant changes to the way that printers function when they released 10.6.
The setting you're looking for is completely controlled by the OS.
Choose Apple > System Preferences > Print & Fax.
Click on your printer and use the drop-down menu to change the default page size for your printer.

  • Problems displaying and editing long documents on small pages sizes

Problems displaying and editing long documents on small page sizes
I read this problem have called with the helpdesk they didn't know the solution but how can I find the solution:
In Pages 09, I can't scroll down andand click on text to edit it!! All the mouse will do is draw gray transparentboxes and not place the cursor in the text. Again, like the display problem, itdoesn't happen at the beginning of the doc, but starts showing up around 50 to60 pages in ... I can't select text at the bottom of pages ... at 50 pages, thecursor can be clicked into anyplace on a page. Further and further down, the unselectablearea on any particular page creeps up from the bottom line by line: at 175pages in the unselectable area is 12 lines high; at 360 pages in theunselectable area is 25 lines high. and finally at around 440 pages down, Icannot place the cursor anywhere on any page all the way to the end of thedocument.
    I have Page versie 4.1

What you get was described here several times.
As we are end users like you, we can't change the app behavior.
Under 10.6.8 you have the buttons allowing you to scroll one line up or one line down.
Under Lion they are no longer available.

  • Do APEX themes have page-size limits?

    Hi:
    APEX 4.2
I have an application that uses theme 2. On one page I have several regions that display updateable items populated with SQL.  One particular region shows a tabular report that contains a combination of updateable and non-updateable items.  This region will show no more than 15 rows.  In one case I know that 22 rows should show.  The pagination links do nothing.  That is, nothing happens when I click the NEXT link or select the next X of Y from a list.
I saw on a not-too-related posting that suggested that a theme for an application can restrict page size.  Is this true?
I've spent two days on this problem, and I have gotten nowhere.
Can anyone suggest what else I should look for?
    Thanks.

    Thanks for the response.

No. You are limited to the choices within the Lightroom Book module.

No the pages will open as separate documents in Expert Mode. You really need Acrobat or possibly you could copy and paste the contents into MS word. Then re-save as PDF.

  • How to change a pdf's page size, margins and page orientation? Are there available tools to do this?

We are converting Lotus Notes documents to PDF by exporting (printing) them to PDF via a PDF writer but found some content are truncated or cropped. We have to manually re-print to pdf using a different page/paper settings in order to capture the content correctly. Are there any other methods or tools which can automate this step? Would it be possible to change the PDF properties to adjust the page size, etc?
Hope there are some useful tools available as there are thousands of documents that are having this issue. Thank you.

The page size options are limited, but are in the crop tool. If there are no tags or other markup, you can also print to a new PDF and adjust the size in the printer interface -- sometimes the simplest method, but not normally recommended. The rotation can be done in the document menu and then saved. The rotation that is typically on the toolbar are only for the current view and does not save with the PDF. Many of these you can use a batch process to resolve (in AA8 that is under the Advanced>Document Processing). The better method is to setup your Adobe PDF printer to create the correct page size and orientation in the future. You can setup to typically expand to fit, select a paper size, and have the settings set to auto-rotate. The later is based on the text that is found on the page. The margin elimination is also part of the crop tool. Hopefully this at least gives you some things to look at. Unfortunately, the tools get moved around with every version, so you may have to search for the tools.

  • Possible to enlarge white space by changing page size?

Greetings.  I'm using Acrobat 10 pro now, but in 9  it was possible to enlarge the white space around the text by changing the page size as part of the crop command.  This was very handy for creating an area large enough for text box comments.  I can't find this capability in 10.  Am I, hopefully, mistaken?

Select: Tools > Pages > Crop
and then double-click on the page. You'll then get the Crop dialog and you can select a larger page size in the CHange Page Size area.

  • Is it possible to Default "Choose page source by PDF page size" option in the "Print" dialog box?

I have an SSRS report that is rendered as a PDF file; the report has many columns and utilizes 11inx17in (Landscape) paper. However, once the report is rendered and users try to print the report they have to manually select the 'Choose Paper source by PDF page size' option in order to get the report to print on the correct paper (otherwise it defaults to standard letter size - landscape orientation).
I'm aware of 'Print Presets' functionality; however, I don't believe they apply to this scenario. Is there a config file/registry setting/anything that can be specified to automatically set the 'Choose paper source by PDF page size' print setting = On/True/Checked?
Any help would be greatly appreciated...

  • It´s possible to make different page sizes in the same document?

    hi there familiy,
I´m just learning InDesign (wich it´s fantastic) on line, and i ´d like to know how is possible to change 1 or few pages inside one document o make a flap (for example)? . But I want them to continue facing, to control de design. I know i could do it in different documents, and then mounted in pdf o whatever, but i supossed it´s possible...
Any help?, thanks in advance, sorry for my english, i´m learnig also!,
    cheers,
    nando

If the goal is to make a flap, then you can do this in InDesign. A spread can be any contiguous number of pages, so if your document is generally speaking double-page spreads, you can have a single spread that is composed of three contiguous pages.
To do this, in the Pages palette, select a double-page spread you want to expand. Go to the flyout menu and deselect "Allow selected spread to shuffle." Then drag new page to the left of the left page or to the right of the right page (depending on where your flap is).
    Then you're all set.
Here's a screenshot of the Pages panel:
In this case, I've created a flap to the right of page 3 (numbered page a) and its reverse to the left of page 4 (numbered page b).

  • In Adobe Pro XI when converting an excel file to a pdf, the pdf is not retaining the page size settings.  Has anyone found a fix for this?

In Adobe Pro XI when converting an excel file to a pdf, the pdf is not retaining the page size settings.  Has anyone found a fix for this?

It shouldn't print each page as a separate job and
each tab has a different name, so, even if it did, it
ought to give the printouts the name of the tabs.
It doesn't print each page as a separate job unless the orientation is different - that's the bug. And the name of the job is taken from the name of the window, not the name of the tabs. That's how every application works, which, I think, is why Excel allows the specific selection or the active sheets to be printed.
Still, that does sound like a plausible explanation.
However, even if presented with multiple prints with
the same name, the spooler should print each one!
The spooler does print each one - you can watch the spooler process the multiple jobs. I think, though, that they are being overwritten since all the jobs have the name of the window as the job title. And since this happens after the Save Dialog is presented, there's really nothing the application can do. To Excel, it's one job, the multiple orientations don't matter; it's just that Apple doesn't handle it correctly.
As a workaround, you can print the selections one at a time and give them unique names and then rejoin them in one PDF file.

  • Is it possible to have multiple page sizes and print types in the same pdf?

Is it really possible to have a pdf which has multiple pages and each of them have pages which are of different page sizes (e.g. letter, A4, A3) and print types (e.g. Simplex, Duplex)???
    Thanks,
    Phoenix

you can definately do different page sizes by using different master pages. You can set the paper type for each master page in the object>master page palette.
