Page transistions jerky

my crrent website does
not load the pages smoothly when you navigate from page to page
some pages have low amounts of info to load others have more and
unfortunately it presents things in a rather jerky fashion. i'd
like to do something that runs loads smoother and more
effeincantly. What i want to know is what's the best way to present
all my content other than using flash. I'd like to have one html
page containing the header and navigation. on the same page id like
to have the content area load my first pages content and every
following nav link a user selects replaces the current content with
the next one without also reloading the header and nav buttons. So
i am wondering whats the best/easyist ways to do this, using css,
asp or something else. Also is there a good tutorial on how to do
this. Thanks any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

That's how the web works. Don't fight it.

No, you don't really want that.
When your header loads on the home page, it's loaded for the
entire site.
The same image is used on every page, so it doesn't actually
have to go back
to the server to get it.
Your only solutions to what you are requesting are basically
frames, ajax,
or flash, and those all have a lot of issues that likely
outweight any
benefits for your particular web site. ESPECIALLY since you
have this
statement on your site:

  • Jerky scrolling on mobile devices with Muse website

    We have just built and published our first website on all three platforms (desktop, tablet and phone) but the vertical scrolling on the Phone and Tablet pages is jerky, and struggles to render the text smoothly compared to other websites when scrolling. All our images are optimised to the minimum size, and the pages are just simple html with images, with no complicated actions or behaviours. They appear jerky across both Apple/Android and Windows devices and also across the various browsers on each device. Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?
    Thanks in advance. Phil

    Hi Gaurav,
    Thanks for the response.
    Since I posted the question, we have solved the problem by removing the sticky navigation bars which appeared to have default scroll effects applied to them. Do mobile devices not like the parallax scroll effects from within Muse, as obviously we would like to reinstate the sticky navigation if possible in the future?
    Regards,
    Phil

  • Why does the Page moves up and down slightly while loading?

    The page jumps (jerky) up and down while loading. The movement isn't great but is more than enough to lose your place while trying to read the part already loaded.'''bold text'''

    Hello,
    Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
    Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
    To clear cache and cookies do the following:
    #Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
    #Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
    #Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
    #From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
    #Now click the ''Clear now'' button.

  • Ipad 3 choppy performance

    I purchased an ipad 3 and have previously owned an iPad 2.  I know the hardware improvements is to only handle the better display.
    But what I am noticing is that the performance of the iPad 3 is noticably more choppy than my old iPad 2.  www.yahoo.com for example is choppy when scrolling the main headline page.  And in other areas like web browsing and the app store, and sometimes even just scrolling the through the icons.  It is like it lags when it's loading graphics into memory and then once it's cached then it runs more smoothly.
    I will have to take a trip to Best Buy to see if this is normal, but I wanted to ask here as well.  I'm just curious if this is normal.

    I too have this issue. I had an iPad 2, then got the new iPad. I called support shortly after I bought it and the tech I spoke with said I had my thumb too close to the edge and that's what made it choppy. Do they think we are stupid? It happens on any site that is connected to the Internet and please don't tell me I have a poor signal- I don't and it happens any place I'm at. Here's what happens: I open up Safari, Facebook, twitter, chrome, email,iTunes, etc. I scroll down the page. The page is jerky/choppy as I scroll down then it jumps back up to the top. I try to scroll down again, it jumps back up. This happens until finally it seems to be loaded. Then it works ok until I change apps. I sadly upgraded to iOS 6 but it was choppy before I upgraded. When I first started researching this issue, I found others who mentioned this issue. Several people responded that their iPads scrolled perfectly and that they would notice if it wasn't smooth.
    The choppiness reminds me of my crossover to the droid. I had had an iPhone and never paid attention to the scrolling until I got the Droid. It was choppy like my iPad 3. Returned to the iPhone and all was well until the iPad 3. After writing this I have decided I am going to call apple support again and be more insistent that this is not normal.
    Good luck, altered82000.

  • Lags and weight from Russia =(

    Once sorry for translator.
    First created  .folio
    I do not have the profile of DPS and publish it now only for viewing in Adobe Viewer on iPad New (3)
    After the publication identified two problems:
    1. Weight 40 page-folio no video, audio or web content exceeded 300MB
    2. The most important thing! In the transition from page to page (both horizontally and vertically) ipad so slow! sometimes freezes for a few seconds.
    Page layout is the size of the old iPad (1024x768), but created folio for a New and rasterized in auto JPG medium quality
    What did I do wrong and is there any possibility to get rid of the brakes?
    thanks in advance!

    I did a small test myself today and found the results listed below. My test case was a Folio that included 2 articles, both the same number of pages complete with full-page images, HD video, and multiple MSO's.
    The Folio setting was also used for each of the Articles on Add/import... ie; folio-pdf, article-pdf
    PDF - 13mb
    smooth interaction, all buttons work fine, scrollable content fine, occassional jitter on page transistions. Low res page preview on page load that quickly res'es up.
    JPEG - 16mb
    sharp images, but major delays in vertical (in article) and horizontal (between articles). Also delays in interaction with buttons.
    Automatic - 17mb
    same issues as with jpeg.
    PNG - 77mb
    Very smooth interaction, no delay. Hi quality images very beautiful layout at the cost of heavy file sizes.
    My advice is to experiment with your folio/article compression settings.

  • Exported fireworks loops too quickly

    I've used Fireworks to create several frames holding images
    and set the timings to be observed during the frames. Have tried
    exporting this to animated gif, swf and png and then inserted these
    resutling files into my dreamweaver page. The animation works
    correctly when viewing on my C drive, but once ftp'd to my site and
    viewing with a browser, the looping is too fast. No settings i've
    made seems to slow down the animation. Anyone know what I might be
    doing wrong?
    thanks......becky

    Hi Becky:
    They are photographic images - and relatively large
    dimensions - so GIF
    may not be the best option to begin with, as GIF's reduce the
    color
    palette and are affected by image dimensions (bigger files).
    I'm not a Flash person, but inserting jpegs into a flash
    movie would
    give you better quality and I would think, more control.
    Both pages transistioned for me - although yes - incredibly
    fast. But I
    think this ahs got to do with the timeline in flash, as both
    sample
    pages are flash movies. I do not know if any frame delay
    settigns you
    use in an animated GIF file will be directly read or
    understood by Flash.
    If you want to stick with GIFS, also check to make sure that
    ALL the
    frames are selected before you input the timing. It's
    possible that you
    only applied the frame delay to one frame, rather than all of
    them.
    If a slide show is what you're looking for, have you tried
    out Alan
    Musselman's Fireworks Album Creator extension?

    Hope this helps!

  • DW recruit - CSS??????

    Ok - I've made it through creation of a very simple page www.klcad.com/MAIN - and obviously was badly mistaken to believe that the CSS that I thought was being created by that first page, would automatically be available to use on the OTHER pages that one would get to via the navigation links on the sidebar...
    I followed all of the instructions (I think) for ‘creating a website’ inside of DW, and have exported a .CSS from the page I want to, but can NOT import it into other pages because I get an error message that says it’s an html????
    What am I missing?
    I absolutely do NOT like the page momentary flicker / interruption that appears when I click any of the navigation links. The only apparent change a viewer should notice would be the title of the content, and the content - the page shouldn't flicker during transition...
    Any help will once again be exceedingly highly appreciated.

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
    A CSS file can only contain CSS.  It cannot contain HTML.  Giving a file a *.css extension doesn't make it a CSS file.
    To solve your problem, we first have to know how you exported the CSS from your original page.  Here's how I would do it:
    Consider this HTML page -
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />
    <title>Untitled Document</title>
    <style type="text/css">
    body {
    background-color:white;
    </style>
    </head>
    <body>
    </body>
    </html>
    It contains a simple CSS rule in the head (which is where embedded CSS should go).  To export this CSS to a file, so that you can use it on other pages by linking to the exported CSS file, you would first select everything between <style type="text/css"> and </style>, i.e., all of the embedded rules, and then click on the MOVE CSS icon on the Code view toolbar (looks like a stairstep going down to the right), or select FORMAT | CSS Styles > Move CSS Rules... (in DWCS5).  This will let you move the selected rules to an external CSS file.
    The other way to do this would be to never embed the rules in the first place.  Start out by linking to a new CSS file by clicking on the link icon on the CSS panel, and following the prompts.
    Murray
    Awesome Murray! Thank you very much!
    I created the CSS as you instructed then linked it - I think it works... www.klcad.com/MAIN
    The browser still flickers during page transistions (no idea what that could be from) but so far so good.

  • Scrolling Ebay listing pages has become jerky instead of smooth. With safari it's smooth.

    I see in the comments of others they are having the same problem: When you scroll an Ebay listing page there is a continuing jerky stop and start. It used to be smooth. I know it's Firefox because the problem doesn't exist when I use Safari as my browser.

    If there is a problem with scrolling on web pages then try to disable smooth scrolling.

  • Screen Recording, Web page scroll to bottom is jerky

    No matter how much I try to get the scroll to be smooth while I move down to the bottom of our organization's web pages the Captivate screen recording is jerky. I also can't change the duration of the slides. I believe I have tried all option (FMR, Automatic, Panning, No Panning, Automatic Panning, Window, Full Screen, Application Region, Applicaiton Window).
    Have watched webinars by Pooja (http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2012/08/screen-capture-enhancements-in-adobe-captivate-6. html#more-5367) and Allen P. Each shows these super cool "zooms" intto a section of the screen and then zoom out to see the whole screen. Nowhere can I find the how-to for that nifty trick. I have watched Adobe TV and the man in the video demonstration is close to reading the help file verbatim. Other videos say wonderful things like, "If you check the FMR option Captivate will provide a full motion recording." Duh. Question is, how to use FMR vs. Full Motion vs. Manual.
    In short, I want to make screen demos like the evangelists do. Where do I learn how to do that?
    Thanks.
    Michael

    Michael, I suspect the evangelists aren't using Captivate for their demos. I believe they are likely using Presenter Video Creator. Presenter is an add in for PowerPoint. I'm not sure, but it's likely that the Presenter Video Creator only ships with one of the suites. You might check to see if you have it installed. For me, on Windows 7 64 bit it's found in this location:
    "D:\Program Files\Adobe\TCS34\Adobe Presenter Video Creator 8.0 x64\Adobe-Pr-VC.exe"
    Note that I've deviated from the normal installation path. But it should give you an idea of where to look to find it.
    If you have Windows 7, the way I always launch it is by clicking the Start button and just typing Presenter Video into that box above the Start button.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Jerky openning of pages in Safari 1.3.1 (v312.3.3)

    As of about a week ago when openning some pages (like www.eluniversal.com.mx or www.reforma.com) the openning is very jerky. This does not occur with Firefox or Opera on the same computer. Nor does it occur with Safari 2 from Tiger on a PowerMac or a G3 iBook. Any ideas what's happening and how to fix it?

    Hi Didier
    If you've got Safari 1.3.2 - that's the latest version of Safari for 10.3.9. To get Safari 2.0.x you need to buy Tiger.
    There's a recent Security Update for 10.3.9
    There are ways to try & 'fool' safari into opening websites that it doesn't like, but really I'd suggest trying Camino or Firefox or Opera

  • Scrolling on pages with images is very jerky and sometimes hangs [but the same page is fine on IE]

    windows xp /ff 3.5.8 [tried upgrade to later versions but I completely lose my synaptics tp scroll function]
    as the title says, on some/many sites, when you scroll down the page, FF gets "stuck" on an image and the page becomes jumbled as it crawls along for a short while, then it will get past the "obstruction" and scroll okay. but scrolling back up it hits the same bump.
    it is 100% repeatable
    the same page in IE scrolls just fine.
    thanks

    Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems: <b>View > Zoom > Reset</b> (Ctrl+0 (zero); Cmd+0 on Mac)<br />
    See:

    MacBook Pro: Why "featured" scrolling is so jerky? Is this normal or I've some trouble?? It does not make pleasant the user experience, very annoying.

    Hi,
    Your best bet is to provide feedback to Apple here.
    Keep in mind the MAS has only been in businesss a short time. May take awhile to work out the kinks.
    Actually, some Safari users have posted in the Safari forum on occasion with issues with scrolling and Flash. Click this link for help to troubleshoot Flash. That way you can rule that out one way or another.

  • Firefox 4 is very "jerky" & difficult to stay still on a page, dumped it & went back to Firefox 3.6 - 11

    Was using Firefox 3.6 - 11. Was prompted to download Firefox 4. On many of my pages the article would not stay still, i.e. Nascar.com. My hotmail e mail account kept switching back & forth from inbox to deleted. These were a major annoyance so I dumped Firefox & went back to Firefox 3.6 - 11

    Firefox 4.0 is still in beta testing, it won't be released until next month.
    As far as Hotmail goes, there's a Bug from a 1/20 update to Hotmail that MS is dragging their arse's on fixing, that affects HTML5 in the Firefox 4.0betas.
    No problem here with nascar.com last weekend during the Daytona 500.

  • Slow/Jerky Video with kt6v\sempron 2400\geforce mx400

    Hello!
    I'm hoping someone out there has seen this problem before and can point me in the right direction for how to solve it.  I am putting this system together for my sister.  Here are the system's credentials:
    msi kt6v mainboard
    amd sempron 2400 processor
    256 meg ddr ram, 400mhz
    nvidia gforce mx400 agp display adaptor  64meg
    western digital caviar 20 gig hard drive
    generic (comp usa) 52x ide cdrom drive
    lucent pci lt win modem
    windows xp pro  with service pack 2
    Mainboard bios has recently been upgraded to  recognize the sempron cpu.
    Cpu freqency in cmos is set to 166mhz.  (is this the correct setting?)
    The problem:
    When playing various video games, such as Carnival Cruise Lines Tycoon, Trailer Park Tycoon, or The Sims (all of which are great games, btw), the video is extremely choppy/jerky.  It doesn't play smoothly at all.  But it SHOULD!   As a test, if I replace that video card with an  FX5200 personal cinema, it works great!  (but there's no way I'm going to give my sister that fx5200 card!  I need the mx400 to work in this machine.)   I can put that gforce mx400 in another machine (kt4v with amd 2200xp) and it works great.  So this tells me the problem should not be with the display adaptor nor the kt6v mainboard.  But is there a compatability problem between the two?  Is there a setting I've overlooked?  I'm thinking this is probably an issue with the display drivers or the mainboard drivers, I just don't know.  I've spent the last 3 nights trying to figure this one out.  This has me stumped.
    Anyone else seen this same problem and know the fix?  Also, anybody know what the recommended cmos settings are on the kt6v  when using the mx 400 display adaptor and the sempron 2400 cpu?  What are the recommended drivers/versions for this mainboard and display adaptor?
    Thanks!!!!!

    No
    the GF2 came in mx200, mx and mx400.
