Page turn transitions

I know this isn't the most important function of captivate,
but my work is currently looking to buy captivate, and this is
something t hat will make people make their mind's up whether to
buy flash or captivate.. Does captivate have the ability to have a
page turn transition between slides - i.e. like a book, so we could
create e-books where you can turn the page by clicking. (see link
for example
http://www.sades-world.com/)

Hi again
You might take a look at
http://www.raisingaimee.co.uk
or maybe post a query in the Flash forums. You may visit the Flash
forums by
clicking
here.
Oh, and I looked the Exchange over again. The stuff is still
there. Just a bit hidden. You have to click the link labeled "Most
Recent" to find it.

  • Bug in Page Turn transition?

I copied and burned a photo slideshow with music from iPhoto. There were 237 pics. I used random transitions. Ken Burns Effects were off. Everything looks great except that just prior to the page turn transition, the picture fades for a half second or so just before the transition starts. It only happens on this particular transition. Is this normal?

  • Can you automate 'page turn' transition when exporting a document to Flash?

I have created a multi-page document with a page turn transition which I have exported to Flash to upload to a website. The page turning works fine manually but I want to automate the effect, remaining on each page for 30 seconds before automatically turning. Is there a way of doing this? Any advice gratefully recieved!

Only if you export using File > Export > Adobe PDF  (Interactive). Not if you're using File > Export > Adobe PDF (Print),

  • Navigation with page turning PDF?

Am using CS4 products, don't know whether Acrobat or InDesign is the problem. I can get a flip-book by adding Page Turn transitions in InDesign, exporting to SWF, using Create PDF from file in Acrobat, then poof, I have a PDF with page turns. So far, so good. But, can't get navigation to work, what I want is one Start Over button on the last page that returns user to first page. I suspect it's because the SWF file is considered only 1 page by Acrobat. Any workarounds?
I can get the Start Over button to work in a PDF exported directly from InDesign, but then there can't be Page Turns.
Tried to put the SWF PDF in a portfolio in Acrobat, thinking I could add navigation, but couldn't figure it out.
Any theories would be appreciated. : )

You're correct - PDF files don't support page turning, so when InDesign exports your document places a single SWF into a one-page PDF file, therefore none of the navigation features of Acrobat or Reader will apply.
Navigation *within* the SWF should work as normal.

  • Reverse the page turn direction and make it the default

I want to apply the page turn transition to several clips.  That's no problem, but each turn originates in the northwest corner and ends in the southeast corner.  I want it to be opposite.  I know how to do this for one transition at a time but I'd like it to be the default, so that I can apply it to all the clips and have them already moving the right direction instead of going back to each transition to change the direction.  Is there a way to change the direction of the page turn transition and make that the default?

Sorry, I should have been more descriptive. I can quickly add the basic page turn to all of the clips in the sequence and about as quickly as selecting each clip and hitting Ctrl+V, I can select each transition and hit the little button that changes the direction.  It's about the same amount of keystrokes, either way and I'm just looking to reduce that. Thanks!

  • Page turn swf

    Hi,
Have browsed the forum and found a topic that was covering navigation buttons for a interactive magazine but it didn't cover exactly what I was after. Basically I have a magazine which exports as an SWF using the page turn transition fine and has navigation buttons built into it. Great. But the page turn includes the buttons when it turns. Fuctionaly that works fine but ideally I wold like to have the navigation buttons as a separate entity down the bottom. I have included a Link where I have seen this done
    http://www.starcity.com.au/Resource_Library-Whats_On_Mag.cms?ident=YULS18B8CYL8YQ8QBN9RPDU 9J8DV97&analyticsLink=WheelFlash
    Is this possible using IDcs4?

Are you still strugling with that?
    Check out this sample:
    http://www.prepress.fi/eDocBrowser
If that´s what you looking for, download free demo and test it with your own documents:
    http://www.prepress.fi/edocbrowser_demo/eDB_DEMO.zip
    1. UnZip demo package, you will have folder eDB_DEMO
    2. Export SWF any document you like to that folder but use name 1_magazine.swf and overwrite old one
    3. Open index.html to your browser
    4. If you like to test with second document, export it with name 2:magazine.swf. Now you have 2 swf linked together.
You can export 2 different document or split one long document to two parts by using page range in export SWF window.
ps. Is there by the way any tool for sending private messages in this forum? I could send these informations directly to people who have asked about swf export...
EDIT: I found it myself by digging little bit....

  • InDesign - page turn option

How can I convert an existing InDesign file to incorporate 'page turn' transitions prior to creating a PDF for use on a website please?

I know how to add the button to every page using Master pages, but  the problem is, when you turn the page, the button turns with it.
I want the button to NOT turn with the page. That is my question here. How to turn pages WITHOUT turing the button?
I want to do this in InDesign without purchasing seperate loader.

  • Page Turning Animation in IBooks Author

I am able to make "industry standard EPUBs" with the new Text-to-EPUB service using Automator Workflow that have beautiful curling page turning animations that even include M4A/M4V audio and video: perfect for poetry books I am working on. But how can I turn these into IBooks using IBooks Author and ITunes Producer for sale on my Paid Books account in the ITunes store? It seems IBooks Author only allows sliding page transitions.

Also, I wasn't reading ITunes Producer right. I can produce and upload the EPUBs directly to the store without going through IBA at all.
Actually, you can't use iBA at all for standard epub generation...only .ibooks -
Uploads are done via iTunes Producer.

  • Placed mp3 stops playing on page turn in exported pdf

Hi, I placed a sound file in an indesign file, left the 'media' setting 'stop on page turn' unchecked, and still, the file stops when i turn the page in the pdf. I have one button controling the play (mouse release action) and stop (mouseover action) of the file.

hi steve, you're right; from what i've found, the only way that an embedded audio or movie file will keep playing is if you float a controller. The problem there however is that you have to use the controller; that can be dealt with in pdf, but not from indesign, and if one has a lot of media files in their interactive pdf, that's a lot of work after export. from within indesign, that controller can be made fairly small, and it ends up sitting in the top right corner of adobe reader once a media file is clicked; and it only goes away if you close it; and if you open other media files, the contollers start piling up.
what i ended up figuring out as an alternative was that if you export to swf instead of pdf, for some reason the mp3 (i only tried mp3 in swf) keeps playing on page turn (with no controller); and the nice thing about swf is that you can get 'curl' page transitions, and since it opens as an html it's ready to go online.
the document has buttons that upon being clicked, play the file (with nothing popping up); and the mouseover stops the file; and click again plays it.
one thing that would be nice is if one audio file could be placed that buttons on other pages could access cue points within; unfortunately; buttons can only access audio files that have been placed on the page. so instead of having 1 file, accessed at different navigation points, you have 50 files cut from the 1, each with their own button.

  • Auto page turn with PDF on iPad

    Hello!
I have a PDF which on the Mac I have set to a transition and a auto flip of 4 seconds.
When I use it on Adobe Reader on the iPad the auto flip doesnt work.
Does anyone know how I can rectify this, as the client would like it to play without touching it?
    Thanks in advance.
    Grace

    Hi Gracie,
    Thanks for contacting us.
You can't do auto flip with latest version of Adobe Reader on iOS.
I would recommend trying "single page" view mode. This mode is actually very similar to the page turning on the Kindle application, so it may be close to what you want but not automatically , it can be perform manually. You can easily swipe from one page to the next . You can also use the "tap zone" on the right and left hand side of the page to tap to flip pages. You can choose "single page" by tapping once on the page content to pull down the toolbars. Tap again on the icon that looks like a newspaper page. From there, tap to select "Single Page".

  • Animations not hidden during page turn

I have animations that are set to be hidden until triggered, but during the page turn process/animation (built in page curl animation) the animations on the next page are visible and it is driving me crazy.Any help please?

Are you doing this to an absolutely positioned element?
    That's the only
time that it is removed from Design view.

  • Page turn class for AS3?

    Hi...
I´m looking for a class for making page turn (flip page) effect for Actionscript 3 .fla project. I have found a few quite nice ones but I can´t find a way to implement to my project.. most of them requires that pages of flipped book or magazine should be either separate externally loaded files or movieclips in local library...
In my case pages are keyframes in timeline of externally loaded swf. I have a next/previous page buttons, and when user clicks them, he/she moves in timeline of that loaded SWF. So I should find a way to make kind of page transition that triggers when user moves from keyframe to another.
    Any ideas?

Yep, what I thougt was that when user pushes the next page buttons, few things happens almost simultaniously
-a new bitmap copy of current spread appears on the top of current spread
-swf goes to next spread (next frame) behind bitmap copy
-some page turn animation will be applied to bitmap copy, it reveals next spread that lies behind
I just thougt it would be nice to find some class that creates something like that but I have almost given up...=)

  • Can a page turn effect be applied to just the image (or half of the screen) ?

    Hi.
I have two video channels that separate images left and right.
Each channel is a separate image slide show.
Video channel 1 has all of the images on the left side of the screen by applying a location effect.
Video channel 2 has all of the images on the right.
When adding a video transition, page turn, the effect appears to turn the page on the whole screen.
Is there a way to apply the page turn to the image only not the entire view screen?
The goal is to have a pair of images that change in sequence, first left, then right - the images are staggered and work well, just not the page turn effect.
    Thank you
    cheers

    Thank you PB.
As an FYI to anyone else needing help.
The two slide shows were created in separate sequences with the page turns added - opposite turns for each.
Then in a new sequence the left slideshow was positioned by moving to the left and a crop effect was added to trim the page turn effect.
Then the right slide show was added, repositioned and cropped to hid the page turn effect.
The slideshows are staggered to go back and forth from left to right.
    Cheers

  • I need to make a pdf document, made in photoshop, 'page turn' and then add it to my website. I know I can do this in indesign but indesign will not open pdf files for some inexplicable reason. Any ideas how I can do it without completely starting again?

I need to make a pdf document, already made in photoshop, 'page turn' and then add it to my website as an e-brochure. I know I can do this in indesign but indesign will not open pdf files for some inexplicable reason. Any ideas how I can do it without completely starting again?

    Hello waitingone,
please try this (all terms are translated from my German programs to my best knowledge):
    1. Did the creator of the pdf file enable the import options?
    2. See import options: choose an other visibility option for your layer.
    3. Let you show the import options and click into one with a black background and try these out (often a gray is selected).
    4. See trimming: try the different modes there. Often works: "Media".
    5. Is the pdf file (eg from Word) correctly created?
    6. Is the PDF file protected? >>> no import possible.
    7. If that does not help, store the pdf file in Acrobat, repair possible errors, run the PDF Optimizer before placing in InDesign.
    Good luck!
    Hans-Günter
