Page Turning SWF File
Having created a magazine in Indesign CS6 with hyperlinks throughout - I now want to create a page turning SWF. On doing so, everything works fine apart from the hyperlinks. If I export as a interactive pdf the links worth fine - has anyone else had this problem??

Can a page-turning SWF to PDF have navigation?
I'm working on creating a flip-book PDF which needs a Replay button or some other way to get back to the first page OTHER than laboriously clicking back through every single page. In CS4 InDesign, files with Page Turn transistion must be exported as a SWF file, but the button I've put on the last page with a Go to First Page action won't work. Evidently that's because the SWF file after being turned into a PDF via Create PDF command becomes "one page" at least as far as Acrobat is concerned. Flash won't edit SWF files, so that's not an option.
Any theories on how to have a simple Start Over function would be appreciated. TIA!eDocker might do the trick for you, here´s a sample:

Play all pages in SWF file from InDesign
I created a multi page document and exported it to a SWF file. The pages show and play but only if I tell it to go "Forward".
Is there a way to play all the pages?

PeterI've solved the problem in a round-about way. I re-did the SWF files in Flash 8! All the text was there when I previewed it in Flash 8 and when I moved the SWF F8 file to the FCS4 folder site the ScrollPane worked perfectly. Looks like a Flash CS4 problem to me. I hope this helps others with the same problem. I'm just glad I still have Flash 8 on my computer! Hello, Adobe or should I say Macromedia? Sorry.

Have browsed the forum and found a topic that was covering navigation buttons for a interactive magazine but it didn't cover exactly what I was after. Basically I have a magazine which exports as an SWF using the page turn transition fine and has navigation buttons built into it. Great. But the page turn includes the buttons when it turns. Fuctionaly that works fine but ideally I wold like to have the navigation buttons as a separate entity down the bottom. I have included a Link where I have seen this done

1. UnZip demo package, you will have folder eDB_DEMO
2. Export SWF any document you like to that folder but use name 1_magazine.swf and overwrite old one
3. Open index.html to your browser
4. If you like to test with second document, export it with name 2:magazine.swf. Now you have 2 swf linked together.
You can export 2 different document or split one long document to two parts by using page range in export SWF window.
ps. Is there by the way any tool for sending private messages in this forum? I could send these informations directly to people who have asked about swf export...

Can I turn SWF files from adobe encore into apps for iphone and ipads?
Everybody Im trying to make my SWF files that I created from adobe encore into apps for varies platforms mostly mobile devices and the ipad does anybody have any ideas?
I got an idea for you. I think you can convert SWF to video format which can play on you iphone and ipad.

inside of flash... and not using IE or FF... If I use IE with
getURL... and the user happens to touch outside of the browser
window, IE will fall behind the flash desktop app that's
fullscreen...

ActiveX IE browser. If there is a form, Director hogs the tab
keys which
people don't like. I have several of these out in kiosks and
VB worked best.

Swf file has stopped playing in 'live' browser only
Hello everyone,
Hope you can help with this, whilst working on my site one of the swf files stopped playing when viewed in the browser (live). The file plays ok from Dreamweaver from both local view and remote view. Went onto web server cpanel and played the swf file ok from there as well. Have checked the code and all seems fine, I wasn't even working with that file when it went wrong, all I done was replaced a png picture with a swf file on a different part of the page, this new swf plays fine along with all other swf files on my site. I have uploaded and syncronised both the page and swf files again but still no joy.
I really am stumped for an answer, any help would be greatly appreciated.

StuartHere's the link, but after 3 hours of not playing it started to play by itself after I added a favicon (which still isn't working) to the index page.
That is really strange and a bit worrying as it seems to have a mind of it's own. It also happened once before on another page when I was adding content to the site. I was able to kickstart that one by uploading the page again from local.
The swf file which wasn't playing is midway down page showing drawings.

Loading swf file with dynamic text
For a website I'm creating I'm going to have a main swf file
that loads individual swf files for each page. Each page's swf file
loads in external text files through dynamic text boxes so i can
edit the website easily. To load the swf files into the main swf
file I'm using the loader component. Everything works fine except
thedynamic text boxes of the swf files that are nestled in the main
one do not load properly. Instead, in each text box i get a message
similar to this:
_level0.NewsLoader.contentHolder.News1
NewsLoader is the instance of the loader component, and News1
is a variable called in through a dynamic text field from the html
document entitled News1.html. The individual news swf file loads
the text properly, but when the news swf file is loaded into the
main swf file the text is replaced with the message above.
Any suggestions?the problem might be due to the changed references if you
load the movie into another one.
is NewsLoader a MovieClip instance inside the main movie or
inside the mc that is loaded into the main movie?
If it resides inside the exteranly loaded movie, you will
either need to use the lockroot attribute or use a relative
reference to the News1 variable.
Since the _level0 always points to the _root timeline (the
one of the outer most movieclip) _level0 used in the external mc is
different once the external movieclip is loaded into another movie.
I suggest only using relative references, makes live much
easier. -
Firefox caching on SWF files (Adobe Flash files) are not caching at browser level. But the same SWF Files are caching at other browsers like Google Chrome and IE.
But when i see the about:cache service information, I can see SWF Files are there in the disk cache device. When ever i hit the same page, the SWF files are downloaded from the server not from the browser, but the fetch count for that SWF file will get increase in disk cache device. So it's taking time to load the SWF files every time when i hit the page.

Continued/ linking .swf file to Dreamweaver
Hi ,
All I need is to link my swf file to a link in my HTML page,
the swf file has its own control buttons created in Captivate that
I need them to be shown in the swf file ratherthan new ones! and I
need all this to be shown as a smaller window in the middle of the
screen where the user can maximise and minimise the way he wants?

I have linked my link to HTML ( which is called Harmony.htm)
file atht has the published .swf file in it but I have these
problems:-
1- Once I click on the link the new HTML page is opened but
with this warning:
" Adobe Flash player has stopped a potentially unsafe
operation, the following local application on your computer or
network :
C:\..........\ Harmony_skin.swf is trying to communicate
withthis internet enabled location

to let this press ok ..."
I don't want this warning to appear for my users? how to get
rid of it ? or it is normal to have it on the internet I don't

2- the Harmony_skin.swf is the actual movie I have implement
in Captivate which has the control buttons and the colsed
captioning in the middle bottom of the window which I want them to
appear, but when I publish it with the html file (Harmony.html)
they don't appear and for other swf files they appear slightly how
to make them appear? does thim mean I have to control the position
of the swf file in the HTML file ? how to do that?

in a new window that's centered with the normal browser buttons?
If so, the "centered" part is a bit tricky. There's no way to
determine the exact height of the screen since the browser does not
know how the user's Windows Taskbar is displaying (hidden, one row
high, two rows high, etc). I always take an arbitrary 64 pixels off
the height just in case it's set to 2 rows high.
A suggestion would be to start with the example shown at
bottom, using the following as a reference for what each parameter
in the window.open() method does:
window.open()

Also, you should NOT use spaces in any of your file and
folder names... that can be a problem in some cases.

I need to make a pdf document, already made in photoshop, 'page turn' and then add it to my website as an e-brochure. I know I can do this in indesign but indesign will not open pdf files for some inexplicable reason. Any ideas how I can do it without completely starting again?

please try this (all terms are translated from my German programs to my best knowledge):
1. Did the creator of the pdf file enable the import options?
2. See import options: choose an other visibility option for your layer.
3. Let you show the import options and click into one with a black background and try these out (often a gray is selected).
4. See trimming: try the different modes there. Often works: "Media".
5. Is the pdf file (eg from Word) correctly created?
6. Is the PDF file protected? >>> no import possible.
7. If that does not help, store the pdf file in Acrobat, repair possible errors, run the PDF Optimizer before placing in InDesign.

Targetting a div on a page from an .swf file
Imagine I have an swf file on an html page. Beneath it I have a div called "container". I would like to hit a button in the flash file and have the contents of the container div change. I've done a similar thing with frames or iframes in the past, but I'm thinking there is a way to tell flash what div I am targetting. I would love to see the answer in AS3 since I'm trying to get myself away from many years of using AS2.

Newbie, please help--swf files work fine separately, don't work when on same page
Hello all,
I am new to flash, and piecing together different templates to try and learn things.
I have run across a strange problem. When I load products2.swf by itself, I can call the two "copy" files and everything works. When I open 0342.swf (the index page), I can switch between the home and products2 pages, but I can't view the "copy" pages.
I'm guessing there may be some sort of conflict with variable names, but I have been messing with it for most of today.

If you make an swf file out of each of the attached items, and open the 0342 file, you will see what is supposed to be happening.
Any help anyone can offer is greatly appreciated.

I added the code and uploaded an example of what it does.
When I put "this._lockroot=true" into the first frame of the products.swf file, this occurs:

i.e. you can click over to the products page, but you can not navigate back clicking the "Home" button does not bring up the home page, it refreshes the product page. You are also not able to switch between the two text boxes (copywebdev and officetech) on the products page (though one of them will load--whichever one you click first).
I guess this was "two steps forward and one step back"?

I have created a document in InDesign CS5.5 that I export as a SWF file and use it in my Flex Mobile project for the playbook.
In the Adobe Flash Builder simulator, the page transition works smoothly and there are no issues. However, this is not the case in the playbook, there is a lot of lagging and its very slow to transition from one page to the next.
Is there any resolution to this issue?
I tried using other page transitions but none of them work in my playbook, not sure why. I am trying to get a simple swipe navigation from one page to the next.. need help please!

1) Extract ZIP,
2) replace SWFfromID.swf, you may actually export SWF from InDesign directly to that same folder, use that name and overwrite existing file.
3) Then open index.html to your browser.
Pageturning delay is 5 seconds.
If you need more control over your SWF, you may want to check http://www.edocker.com. With it you can add features like zooming, printing etc to your SWF files..... -
FullScreenButton in SWF file in an HTML Page
I have inserted a small video as a SWF file into my homepage along with Play, Pause, FullScreen and Mute buttons (loaded from the Flash Components panel). The Play, Pause and Mute buttons work fine. But when I click on the FullScreen Button nothing happens. It won't open the SWF video in a new page at full resolution. Any suggestions?
your embedding html code must allow fullscreen. if you let flash publish an html file for you and you change your publish settings to allow fullscreen, you'll see what's needed.
