Page will load on Imac but not on Macbook-both use Safari ?

There is a web page for a football comment that I can load using the iMac but when I try on the MacBook it flashes up-eventualyl-the address not found page.
Both use Safari and both have exactly the same preferences set, so what do I look at now ?
There must be something , somewhere ?????

I think you might have to reinstall Safari, may not be the only solution, but it's been on my mind.

Images with straight lines are distorting (round) on PSCC on iMAC but not on MacBook or second iMAC?

Images are distoring (rounding) on Photoshop CC on my iMAC but same NEF file on MacBook Air or our second IMac do not show distortion. On preview, the image appears normal. Is there a way to repair PS CC or does it need to be reloaded? How can it be repaired or reloaded.

You have some lens correction enabled or a graphics hardware acceleration issue. nothing that a reinstall would fix. Since you haven't provided any relevant exact technical info, nobody can say more.

Web page music loads in IE but not Firefox. Have downloaded Windows Media Player Firefox plug in but still nothing. Any other suggestions?

There are a couple issues here that might be the culprit. One is that the player is hidden using a variety of techniques and Firefox often suppresses hidden content because it can be annoying not to be able to control your experience with media. Another possible issue is that the embed tag doesn't specify a content type. Firefox appears to be guessing anyway, and in my case asking whether to activate the QuickTime plugin, but then nothing plays.
To test what would happen if both of those were addressed, you can run this script using Firefox's Web Console. It grabs the address of the media and creates a new embed that is visible and specifies the content type. Here's how to use it:

Obviously it's not practical to hack every web page you find, but if this is your site or you would be interesting in contacting the owner, hopefully this post will help in getting this working in Firefox.

Why does iPhoto 8.1.2 work on one iMac but not another when both are the same spec both running Mavericks 10.9.1?

I have a studio of 7 iMacs all running Mavericks 10.9.1, six of the machines are able to open iPhoto 8.2.1 but for some reason after updating the seventh, iPhoto vanished completely from that machine. I reinstalled it from a copy I had saved on a HDD but it now says it's unsupported with this version of OSX. I don't want to pay the £10 + for a piece of software that is only being used to import photos from the occasional iPhone so wont be installing the new version, especially as I know 8.2.1 does work on Mavericks.
Any suggestions?

Reinstall v8 from the install disk as, at a guess, the version of the HDD is missing components.
To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

SWF plays fine on PC and iMac but not on MacBook?

I have created an swf file in Flash professional. It plays perfectly on a PC and on an iMac.
Unfortunately for some reason it has white horizontal flicker lines that flash up every now and then on the moving text when the swf file is played on my macbook and other friends have tested it on their macbooks and macbook pros and they too experience the problem.
I installed google chrome and it doesn't flicker as much as it does in safari and firefox.
A friend told me to convert my SWF file to html5... I didn't have much time to find out why as my friend is very busy but I did it and found the the animation now plays perfectly in google chrome on my MacBook but still not great in safari and firefox.
I'm guessing the problem is with the macbooks and not my animation if it plays find on a PC and iMac. But why is this happening?
I created the flash animation with ActionScript 3, Flash Player 10. Basically I used the default settings.
Could there be a conflict with the ActionScript or flash player I have made it with against my browsers?
I'm no tech wizard so don't know what I'm doing. All I do know is that I have a grumpy client with an unfinished animation so I'd love some help from someone.

Avi files work fine on iMac but not new MacBook Pro

I've had an iMac for three years and recently purchased a new MacBook Pro. I have a ton of .avi files (movies) on an external drive and have had no problem playing them on my iMac; however, I'm not able to play them on my MacBook Pro. I have installed Flip4Mac on my MacBook Pro but I'm still getting an error message saying "avi is not a format that can be played."
Any ideas?

I just replaced an Airport Express with a new Airport Extreme. My iMac recognizes the external hard disk I have connected to the Airport Extreme, and my Time Machine is backing up to it. But I can't get my MacBook Pro to recognize the disk as available for Time Machine. Both are running Mavericks, and the MacBook is only a couple of months old.

Cisco Anytime Connect VPN working from iMac but not from MacBook Air with same settings and wifi network

Hi guys,
I'm having trouble connecting my new MacBook Air to Cisco Anytime Connect VPN.
The same configuration works with my iMac, in the same network and same Mac OS Mountain Lion on both computers.
After successfully connecting to VPN after a few seconds it gets disconnected and, what is worse, WIFI is not working any more in my macBook Air, I need to deactivate it and start again.
With iMac with the same settings it doesn't happen.
Any ideas?

Did you power cycle the network? That's always the first thing you want to do if a device is "missing" or not connecting to your network correctly.
If you have not already tried this a few times, power down the entire network...all devices, order is not important.
Wait a few minutes and place the MBAir close to the TC
Start the modem first and let it run a few moments by itself. Then start the TC if it is the device connected to the modem and let it run a few moments. Then start each device one at a time the same way.

Backs up to iMac but not to MacBook

This is a tricky one. My iMac is sucsesfully backing up to my time capsule on its daily/weekly shedules, wirelessly. No problem.
My MacBook however is not backing up and hasnt done so since 9 Feb. If I open time machine preferences i see the attached image
offering a back up disk and an available disk. If I select the back up disk, the two options I am presented with are Cancel, and Remove Disk.
I'm not sure what to do from here so as i can start a back up of my MacBook to the time capsule, where my iMac is safetly saving.

This seems to be a bug that gets Mountain Lion messed up.
Reboot the whole network.. restart from off in order.. modem..TC.. clients.
If the issue still exists.. delete all instances of the TC hard disk in finder.
I suggest a reset of TM as well.

Then using finder on the top menu, go, connect to server. Type in the correct address to the TC..
AFP://TCname or TCIPaddress replacing with the actual name or IP.
Once you bring up the TC manually the TM should be able to select it and then find the old backup and continue.
Tell us if you have more issues.. you might need to start over.

Able to install canon bluetooth network for imac, but not on macbook?

I recently purchased the canon mx850 with the canon bu-30 bluetooth adapter. After a little work, I'm able to get the bluetooth to print successfully from the imac using only the bluetooth connection. The secret came when I selected the printer driver to use the CANON IJ connection rather than the default Canon driver connection.
When I've tried to duplicate exactly what I did on our macbook, the CANON IJ driver doesn't appear. I have only one driver option and that option results in an error message when I try to print.
Any hints as to what I do to get the CANON IJ option to come up when I'm going through the process on the macbook?

You can use these steps to check if images are blocked:
*Open the web page that has the images missing in a browser tab.
*Click the website favicon ([[Site Identity Button]]) on the left end of the location bar.
*Click the "More Information" button to open the "Page Info" window with the Security tab selected (also accessible via "Tools > Page Info").
*Go to the <i>Media</i> tab of the "Tools > Page Info" window.

I have tried resetting it, ive restarted my browser etc. I tried to erase all data from my Ipad but I can't do that because it needs to sign into my Apple ID and use the Internet!

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)

    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps.
