Page zoom setting not remembered

Since upgrading to Safari 7.0 under Mavericks, I notice that Safari does not remeber the page zoom setting for any given site.  It always reverts to "Actual Size".
That would be OK if all these sites weren't developed by floks in their early twenties with perfect eyesight.  Also, when using a large monitor with high resoulution, the text gets very hard to read.
Getting back to my question, does anyone out there know how to force Safari to remember a page's zoom setting for the next time it is opened?
Google chrome has no problem doing this, but I really like the new Safari and would prefer to keep using it.

There's some relief from Safari - Preferences - Advanced - Never use font sizes smaller than... althought over 14 will give display issues sooner or later.
Setting a custom style sheet with a default zoom of 135 or so is a help - it can either be done manually, or get the same result with a Safari extension like Quickstyle which makes it easier to set rules & specify settings for different sites.
Obviously, it can be frustrating - Apple - Safari - Feedback

  • Page zoom does not remember zoom

When zooming a page, in the past it has always held its position. a few days ago, it reverts to its un zoomed position on the screen and must be rezoomed again.

    * Make sure that you not run Firefox in [[Private Browsing]] mode
    * You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
    * To see all History settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting <b>Firefox will: Use custom settings for history</b>
    * Uncheck: [ ] "Automatically start Firefox in a private browsing session"

  • How to increase Firefox default page zoom setting?

Changed my computer's default DNS server from Comcast to OpenDNS.
A side effect, webpages appear in Firefox as if I had reduced them via the Ctrl minus keys. To get back to a comfortable appearance I now have to hit Ctrl plus keys.
Anybody know how to set Firefox default page zoom to a larger setting? Thank You.

    Try in [http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config about:config]
    and change [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Zoom.maxPercent zoom.maxPercent]
type in the address bar '''about:config'''
then press the button '''i'll be careful i promise'''
then type in the bar '''zoom.maxPercent'''
then '''right-click''' on it, select''' modify''', type a value greater than the current(i can't tell specific because i don't known how zoom you want), click '''OK,'''
    exit firefox and restart-it.

  • Page zooms, but not game

I've been having a reacuring issue with a few games zooming in. I can zoom the page in but the games stay the same size with everything else on the page getting bigger. It creates a black side and bottom on the game frame after I've zoomed the page. I've tried reinstalling both the flash player and the shockwave player but still the same problem. I can't seem to find info on how to get it fixed. One of the games is Let's Get Bakin' on shockwave.com
Any info on how to fix this? Thanks for any help!

I never used a server version of the operating system so I have no experience in this area.
As Numbers and Keynote behave well I assume that something is odd with a single component.
    (1) quit Pages
    navigate to:
    Macintosh HD:Users:<yourAccount>:Library:Preferences:com.apple.iWork.Pages.plist
move this file on the Desktop
    restart Pages.
If it behaves well it's because the preferences file was corrupted.
    (2) if it's not sufficient, try to run Pages from an other user account.
If it behaves correctly, it's that the odd component is in your user account
If it doesn't it's that the odd component is in the public area of the system.
A few days ago, a thread was dedicated to a problem striking also only on Pages.
It was linked to a failure during the installer download process.

  • Last page scroll position not remembered

After getting search results in Google, I click on a subject, then when I click "back" it returns to the top of the previous page. It's like it doesn't remember where it was. One fix I found was to change cache-control in about:config. But I can't find it. Where is I located? Another fix is "Restore Scroll Position" does this work on ver 3.6.12 ?
    TIA

It is usually easier to open the results in a new tab with a middle click on the link and close that tab with a middle click on that tab on the tab bar.
For the Google website you can set your preferences on the Google.com page via the [http://www.google.com/preferences?hl=en Google Search settings] link at the top right.

  • FF always starts at Welcome at Welcome at fireofx page. Does not remember homepage

    Hello,
On my laptop using Windows 7 I use FF 31.0
When I start this in my account it starts at the Welcome at firefox and shows me the choice to take the intro
When I close this page, I get the google page from the next tab.
I then type a URL and store this as home page.
When I know restart FF, it opens with Welcome at Firefox and the pop-up to take the intro, but it does not show the home page. When I check, the location for Homepage is empty
From the administrator account I have reinstalled Firefox. No use.
In the administrator account it seem to work fine
This question is sent from another PC, not the laptop having the issue

You can check the home page setting:
*Tools > Options > General > Startup: Home page
Firefox supports multiple home pages separated by '|' (pipe) symbols.
You can check for problems with preferences.
Delete a possible user.js file and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in the current Firefox release.

  • Pages zoom keys not working

On both Pages and Numbers, when I go to "zoom" in the view menu it says I can zoom in by pushing command + right-facing arrow and zoom out by pushing command + left-facing arrow. But these keys don't do a thing. I have to zoom manually, either through the view menu or at the bottom of the page. This is also a bummer because it only lets me zoom in pre-set increments (150, 200, etc.).
Is there a way to make the alleged zoom keys work, and can I zoom in gradual increments?

I just tried it and it does work. Keep the command/(and shift key) key pressed while pressing the arrow key as many times you need.
When you are doing it the right but it still doesn't work try to delete the com.apple.iwork.pages.plist file in ~>library>preferences folder. Do also a restart of the computer if you are a person forgetting to do that once in a while.

  • When I open Firefox to my home page then go to a secomd page firefox does not remember my home page when I try to go back to my home page by using the back button

When I open up Firefox it goes to my home page, then I surf the web but when I go the the back button it shows my history but not my home page (or the first page I went to).

Do you get the same two tabs when you launch a new window (Command+n) or only at startup?
You may want to check your extensions in case something snuck in. You can review and disable those on the Add-ons page. Either:
    * Command+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.
Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Does that shut down the extra page?

  • After uninstalling "No Squint" Firefox zoom is not saved

I uninstalled "No Squint" when I found it did not work as I wanted.
Now Firefox (v.21) no longer remembers zoom levels of pages I visit after FF is closed and re-opened.
The "No Squint" uninstall asked if I wanted to restore FF zoom functionality - to which I answered YES.
After Uninstall I tried Windows RESTORE to return system to state prior to "No Squint" install, this did not help.
Tools>Options>Privacy>Clear History when Firefox closes>Settings>Site Preferences is NOT set, so as I understand it, Site Zoom level should be kept. I have tried setting and unsetting this to no effect.

    Hi Cor-el.
I don't clear site preferences, and ZOOM is not remembered even '''within a browsing session'''.
I have deleted the content-prefs.sqlite file, this made no difference.
From the links you gave me it appears there may be a hidden way of disabling FF site specific ZOOM, maybe this is what NO SQUINT has done?? This refers to a very old version of FF though, and there is no hint as to how to reverse it: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=419609
I don't want to install any more add-ons, I just want to restore the native FF21 site specific ZOOM functionality.
    Thanks Petef

I just wanted to post the solution to the problem described in this question
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/962175
because I saw that none of the replies were helpful and the person had to restore from a backup.
In my case the source of the problem was that this option

    was set to false.

  • Page zoom not holding between pages in FF4

Back in good old FF 3 page zoom would hold between pages or on refresh, I am finding with FF4 every time I reload a page or click a link to a different part of the same website I need to re-size the page, as I use FF for its zoom function this is starting to get a bit frustrating, anyone know how to fix it?

  • Firefox keeps forgetting the Zoom setting per page...

    Hi!
While surfing the archives of the Dilbert cartoons, I have to zoom in on the sunday cartoon otherwise it is too small. But Firefox 4 keeps forgetting the zoom setting.
Everytime I click the next cartoon or even refresh the page the setting is back to standard. This behavior is similar on all websites, e.g. google.
Any suggestion? Thanks in advance! wohlgetan

  • Firefox 3.6.9 is not remembering my history as set in preferences.

Preferences are set correctly to remember my history for 30 days. All boxes are checked, except I have deselected the Clear History when FF closes option. Ever since I updated to this from 3.5, my History will not remember itself as anticipated. I have had to type in full web addresses from one day to the next, which of course is not how this preference is intended to work. Help!

    * Make sure that you do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the Browsing History.
    * Make sure that the History is set to at least 1 day: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: "Remember visited pages for at least"
    * Make sure that you do not start Firefox in Private Browsing mode (Tools > Stop Private Browsing is grayed, see [[Private Browsing]])
    * To see History and Cookie settings in Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting "Firefox will: Use custom settings for history"
You can look at these prefs on the about:config page.

  • Make table of contents links keep current zoom level, not zoom out to full page

When Indesign creates tables of contents, they automatically link to the paragraphs the links point to, so that in an interactive PDF, clicks and prods take the user to that page. Great.
What's not so great is, that the hyperlinks / cross-references / jump-links / whatever that are created behind the scenes within the table of contents appear to:
...be automatically set to reset the zoom to full page width
...not be editable in any way
Normal cross references retain the zoom level that the user has chosen, and normal hyperlinks that point to a page in the document have a range of settings about what zoom level change (if any) should be imposed on the user, which can be set to 'inherit zoom'.
How do I set up a table of contents that doesn't annoy users by resetting their chosen zoom level to an artitrary default when they use the interactive table of contents?
I'm really hoping I don't have to ditch Indesign's table of contents feature and create every cross reference manually.

(editted) So it turns out that you can 'expand' a table of contents by copying and pasting it - this fills the hyperlinks panel with links that can be editted (like above) but breaks the auto-update - they're no longer a TOC, they're just a text frame full of links. (I had got different copies mixed up when I thought the frame holding the editable links was also auto-updating)
The greying out of the links was a red herring, just something to do with the fact they were on a master page.
It does mean that one possible TOC workflow is:
Create a TOC on the pasteboard somewhere.
Before finalising the document, update this TOC and alt-drag the 'live' TOC creating an editable 'dead' copy in an appropriate place in the document
Edit the link properties of the links in the 'dead' copy (don't forget that you can select multiple hyperlinks at once by holding down shift, and edit things like the Zoom Setting all at once with Hyperlink Options in the Hyperlinks flyout menu. )
Then, if you make other changes to the document later on, delete the dead copy, update and re-copy the live original, and re-do the changes to the new copy
This isn't a bad method - it just adds about a minute's work each time you export a PDF (delete, update TOC, alt-drag, shift-select the new batch of .XXXX links at the bottom of the Hyperlinks panel, > Hyperlink Options, Zoom Setting  > Inherit Zoom, done).
Alternatively, you could manually build a TOC using cross-references if you want links to the exact position on the page, not just the top of the appropriate page.
