Pages 09 version 4.0.4 PDF files in emails
Good day to all.
Upgraded to latest version, has caused PDF files to act differently. Ie: When exporting a letter as PDF (Export) and then later transferred as an attachment to an email, the whole file (PDF) will open instead of just listing the little square denoting the filename.
Second with "FINDER" all PDF files will show in bright red letters that it is a PDF file but these red indictions will disappear in a fraction of a second......?
Also notice that the pre-update version showed all pdf files "under FINDER" to have a kind of a zipper on the left side of the filename (Icon). No longer showing. By the way these files (icons) with zipper are transferred to email as a little square and filename only, so the file is not opened inside the message.
Is there a special check (Option) in Pages 09 to modify my present action.
Am I right or what???

New input
Old files (letters) from Pages, (B4 update) (Export PDF) are registering with the proper Book Ring on left side of icon in Finder, allowing only the icon to show in an email.
Now Pages doesn't show the book ring and all files are opened when transferring to email.
Is there a check I missed or a bug????

I was "raised" on Microsoft Publisher, then worked with Adobe Elements before switching to Mac. For the most-part, I find Mac OSX 10.7.5 a joy to use, but it takes me quite a while to figure out how to bridge differences between PC and Mac applications. Even though Mac applications tend to be straight forward, I loften find myself shaking my head and wondering how I could have been stumped so long by a little thing such as instant alpha. I don't want to chalk up this difficulty in adapting to old age, but could! (--Which translates: Please be easy on the old lady!) Thanking you in advance for such assistance as you might provide ...Upgrade to Mountain Lion OSX 10.8, much better than Lion.
I take it you are talking about Pages '09?
Your problem is probably with anything that has transparency eg fancy frames, 3D charts, shadows, reflections because Pages exports all these to too low 72dpi resolution in .pdfs.
Prepping files for commercial print is always a concern and you need at least some Pro skills, but Apple has made life even harder with key missing settings and inferior presets.
The subject of preparing for print is rather broad and detailed.

Do you mean audit history? One method would be similar to the following sample that you could extend to create a PDF from the data returned:

BUT the method used above via JCR Query is an implementation detail. For future proofing, you should use the ReplicationStatus status = page.adaptTo(ReplicationStatus.class in your code to get the audit logs for a particular page, rather than a straight JCR query. Not had this problem before!!Thanks this is the first time it has happened. The form I am trying to print is a QE 2 annual tag form for the M25 so it is a well used document.
Everything goes fine until I hit the page preview when up comes a dark area I have hit the PDF buttom but to no avail.
I also reloaded the printer using Apple downloads as the disc for the Epsom is not acceptable. -

Try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc. -
When I receive a pdf-file in email on my ipad air, I cannot open the pdf-document. It worked perfectly yesterday, but suddenly today I cannot. I have not downloaded/done anything strange on/with my ipad. When I click on the pdf-attachment, it downloads. Then when I click on the downloaded document, I get the following message:

Please help!That sounds like a message that you would get on a computer rather than on an iPad. Are you having issues with all PDF files or just PDF files from one particular source? Can you close the message and try to use the Open In option?

How can I reduce the size of a pdf file for emailing?
I want to send a pdf file which is 8 mb, it has bounced in an email because it is too big, how can I reduce the size of the pdf file for emailing?
Sometimes a simple "Save As" will reduce the file size slightly, but probably not enough to pass the <8 mb threshold of your recipient, as you need.
You've probably seen it, try the next option in the Save As menu, "Reduced Size PDF," and make it compatible with the latest version possible, again considering the recipient. This suggestion assumes Acrobat X. You don't say which version you're using, but this tool was available at least going back to Version 8, but in a different place, you'll have to hunt.
If all that doesn't work, you could remove some images from the source document, which also will reduce the overall size.

Send spool list ceated by Job (SM36) as pdf-file via email
We are running the report RM06EFLB (Transaktion ME84 - "Create Releases") in the background.
The Job is creating a spool list with 17 pages.
I want to send this 17 pages (in a readable form) to a number of persons.
This did I try so far:
- Distribution list with Recipient type "via Internet" as Spool list recipients in the Job. (Tried different formats for ABAP List in Transaction SCOT)
=> Email is send to recipients, attachment is readable depending on format.
Problem: attachment is not complete, it contains only about 15 pages (985 rows).
- Distribution list with Recipient type "Internal User - SAP-Office" as Spool list recipients in the Job.
=> Document is sent to Business Workplace
Problem: attachment is not complete, it contains only about 15 pages
Any ideas how to get the complete spool list?
Is there mayby a report around that is sending a spool list as pdf-file via email to a number of recipients?
(Would like to maintain this Report as an additional step in the job. The spool-number should be selected from the previous step.)

First use function module 'CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF' to convert the spool entry into pdf.
Loop at output table PDF and concatenate all lines into a string. Convert string to xstring.

How are you trying to send it? What happens when you try? What version of Reader?

I need to zip pdf files to email them to a PC user. The problem is file size is not reduced.
I tried zipping them in Win 7 (which I use via Parallels 7) and sending them to the Finder to email.
But lately nothing is reduced. I tried choosing the Reduce File Size option in the Quartz Filter when I save the doc. The file size was reduced. However, the recipient could not read the file. Everything was blurry.
Is there a solution?I am having some PDF sizing issues also, I am a BETA tester for TurboCAD Mac, and with the usage of (public) version 5, I have had some scaling issues. I have had (auto sent) 15 plus crash reports, (available as text) and had posted my scenario within the "lion- problems so far" article, so not to use up extra bandwith- or whatever- there are pictures there. I was not able to upload a PDF on site, and the staff @ Turbo CAd is working on it also. this is Lion specific new update, as I have posted many large format PDF's

Printing pdf files from emails
I am unable to print some pdf files from email attachments... The comment box says that I have not selcted pages to print but I have in the print box and I can't see a way to do so in the file itself...Any suggestions
I think you'd have to change the paper stock attributes on the printer, commit that with Adobe Reader quit, and then run Reader. There is no possibility of passing this as a parameter. I don't think even Acrobat Pro has this capability, it's entirely in the hands of Windows. (Note that Reader is unsupported outside an interactive session).

Unable to download pdf files from emails or websites
I used to be able to download pdf files from emails and websites on my Windows vista 2007 computer, but am now unable to save or download them. Is there something I need to adjust in my security system which hasn't changed?
If you're using Vista it's the same procedure as with Windows 7 (which I use) From Tools>Internet Options, click the Programs tab, and then click the Set Programs button. In Windows 7 this will open the Control Panel>Default Programs window. From there you want to click Associate a file type or protocol with a program. Scroll down the list to Portable Document Format (PDF). click it and click the Change Program button. Choose Adobe Reader as the default program, click Ok and then PDFs will download instead of opening in IE.

These files are saved as .pdfIf they automatically open in Word, then you need to change the file association.
Easiest by uninstalling/reinstalling Adobe Reader. -
