What I read in the PDF version of the manual (while I was waiting for my plane this afternoon), it seems pretty comprehensive. I was particularly interested in what it had to say about creating your own templates.
Supposedly, it will remember if I left invisibles showing in templates (one of my big complaints with Pages 1). I'll find out soon enough. I must say that opening my two documents I use for answering posts here in discussions sure did open faster & navigating an 11-page table was much faster.
Another good thing I noticed, the font used for the serial number is much clearer & there were no confusing characters - O/0, S/5, etc.

I am trying to tranfer photos from pc to ipad via itunes. I put the photos in a file and sub-files in order to tranfer them as albums: an main album with albums within. All the photos tranfered but into only one album. Is there a way to do this? Is there an app that would help. Also, I tranfered two albums into iphoto. I edited a photo in one album which created a new album of edits. I have removed the photos form the album but I am not able to delete the album themselves. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
I am having the same problem and it is even bigger.
When opening a 1-page PDF in iBooks and sending it via mail it is sent inline as preview, but the recipient cannot open the file anymore. Also on iPad and iPhone there is no "open in" possible.
Somehow the mail app does destroy the file. What is going wrong? -
When I synch a file "best photos" via iTunes to my iPhone I get two identical files - "best photos" and Photo library. I don't know why
All photos transferred from your computer via the iTunes sync process are stored in the iPhone's Photo Library.
When transferring multiple albums or a single album, the photos in the albums below are not duplicated as in taking double the storage capacity for the photos. Photos in an album or albums below include a pointer to the original photos stored in the Photo Library.
This way you can view the photos in an album only by selecting the album, or all photos in all albums by selecting Photo Library. Makes more sense when transferring multiple photo albums from your computer but the same applies when transferring a single album or folder of photos.
The same applies to iTunes playlists. A song placed in a playlist is not duplicated. -
I have a "firmware file not compatable" message whilst trying to update my iPhone4 from Sofftware Version 5.1 to 5.1.1 via iTunes. I have tried about 3 times and keep getting the same message. Any ideas/suggestions?
Since posting the above - I have now tried downloading the update on my iPhone rather than via iTunes, and its just worked and installed and seems fine! Was a lot quicker as well than the download time via iTunes

I formatted by PC which erased the iTunes software as well. Now when i try to backup my iPad the new iTunes doesn't have access to my existing files. The option is to erase the current content of my iPad and replace it with existing files on my PC. How do i get access to the preivous library?

Exporting HD video to Blu-ray format causes motion blur
Using Premiere Pro CS4, I have HD video projects that are either 720p30 and 1080i (60i). The 720p video is 1280x720 (1.0) 60fps. The 1080i footage is 1920x1080 (1.0) at 29.97 fps.
For exporting the video to a format suitable for burning to Blu-ray (using Encore) I've am using the MPEG-2 Blu-Ray format using either the HDTV 1080i High Quality or the HDTV 720p 59.94 High Quality presets, depending on the format of the original video that I'm compiling.
I didn't notice it at first but when I burned first my test Blu-ray disc I found that the video was having some wierd exaggerated motion blur characteristics going on. Any abrupt movment, such as a person turning their head or a video box shrinking from full screen to half screen would be wildly blurred. I thought it might have been a result of the burn but I subsequently found the problem was introduced during the video export process in Premiere Pro. I just didn't catch it because I wasn't looking closely enough.
Because I am using the default settings for the two presets cited above I'm at a loss about what is introducting this blur or how to go about mitigating it. Anyone got any tips? What could be having such a problem making motion which shouldn't blur too much blur so badly? Thanks in advance for any assistance.Ok, I'm stumped for the moment. To better illustrate what's going on I'll post some pics of the problem. I'm using a piece of video that's not part of my projects but it does illustrate what's going on pretty well.
The first is what Premiere Pro is displaying for the source video. I'm currently using a Sequence Preset of DVCPROHD 720P 60P even though I don't have the hardware for it. The reason being is it stopped the blur from happening in the timeline and I think that's because this preset had a 59.94 fps preset and the source video was 60fps.

What these images show.
1) The source video displays crisp in Premiere Pro even though this is footage of a video transition.
2) The source video exports out with some motion blur.
3) When you do a frame grab of the exported video the motion blur of the exported video increases.
As I said, I'm stumped. I've tried modifying every setting in the exporter for MPEG Blu-ray with a preset of HDTV 720p 59.94 High Quality and I can't stop this blur. I looked at the H.264 Blu-ray setting but it appears useless. Every time I try to export, the exported video crashes Media Player and when I load it into Premiere Pro I see the video now has motion blur.
At this point I'm wondering if upgrading to CS5 will make a difference or not. That's about the only thing I can think of that I haven't tried yet. -
The CDs are in a .cda format. I am starting with .AAC or mp3. I have no player that can handle a .cda or .cdda format. This relates to my earlier question. I could not see how to add to that. I am using Vista 32 bit. I never had a problem with this before. I tried re-downloading itunes. I can burn a CD with Power2Go 8 and RealPlayer. I have not tried others.
There is no "cda format" - this is just how Windows Explorer shows the tracks on an audio CD that can be played on any CD player. When you use iTunes to burn a playlist to an audio disc, it creates a standard "Red Book" disc, converting the format of the files within the iTunes library to 16/44.1 audio (albeit without recovering any of diminished quality of mp3 or aac data). If you want to create a CD that contains the files from iTunes, in the format in which they exist in the library, you should use the MP3 CD or Data CD selection from the iTunes Burn Settings dialog.

I recently upgraded my old powerbook to an iMac. I've dumped the files of my backup drive into the new iMac. Is there a way to have access to/merge all the files (new and old computers) together so when I'm logged in can access all the files.

MSure-glad to help you. You will not lose any data by changing synching to MacBook Pro from imac. You have set up Time Machine, right? that's how you'd do your backup, so I was told, and how I do my backup on my mac. You should be able to set a password for it. Save it. Your stuff should be saved there. So if you want to make your MacBook Pro your primary computer, I suppose, back up your stuff with Time machine, turn off Time machine on the iMac, turn it on on the new MacBook Pro, select the hard drive in your Time Capsule, enter your password, and do a backup from there. It might work, and it might take a while, but it should go. As for clogging the hard drive, I can't say. Depends how much stuff you have, and the hard drive's capacity. As for moving syncing from your iMac to your macbook pro, should be the same. Your phone uses iTunes to sync and so that data should be in the cloud. You can move your iTunes Library to your new Macbook pro

time machine is an application, and should be found in the Applications folder. it is built in to OS X, so there is nothing else to buy. double click on it, get it going, choose the Hard drive in your Time capsule/Airport as your backup Time Machine and go for it. You should see a circle with an arrow on the top right hand of your screen (the Desktop), next to the bluetooth icon, and just after the wifi and eject key (looks sorta like a clock face). This will do automatic backups of your stuff. -

I understand the confusion. Those tracks are royalty free to the owner of the tracks, yes. The terms of use of the iTunes Store still state, though, that all purchases are for your own personal use and cannot be used commercially:
USAGE RULES
1. You shall be authorized to use iTunes Products only for personal, noncommercial use.
They're probably fine for presentations in a class or to a group at your company, but you probably could not post the presentation or a video using these tracks on a public site. I'm no lawyer, though, to legally define what would and would not constitute "noncommercial". It's probably best to just buy your tracks directly from one of these sites of royalty-free music. Then the use license should be completely clear.

I can't decipher where (and why) the program is putting the HDR image in the grid. I stack all of my HDR source images so they are easy to track and manage. Other apps/plugins allow you to stack resulting images with their source image. That would be great if there's a way to set that in LR preferences.
Thanks, but this doesn't really answer the question about stacking the HDR file with the source files. Yes, it does put the file in the same folder, however many of my folders have 100s of images (that often look similar) and as far as I can tell, LR places them randomly in the sort order. It doesn't appear to put them at the beginning or end of the sort (usually by date), but somewhere randomly in the middle. Even if it could be made clear what method it is using to sort them, that would help locate one file among hundreds.
Ideally, however it should allow you to stack with the stacked source files. Is there anyway to do this? If not, is it a feature that could be requested? -
If anyone has information on how to correct an issue with a tv show file not found after being downloaded and a tv show with only sound please help. I no longer have an email invoice to report the problem. Does anyone have a sugguestion on how to proceed?

On my old Pages, I could "save as" a .doc file easily...and everyone oculd open it and it would be fine. My updates did a Pages update automatically and now I can't find the old "save AS" option and I can't figure out how to download as a .doc file. HELP?!! I don't want to think this, but has someone from Microsoft infiltrated the Apple Staff??
You didn't mention which version of Pages. The following is the File > Export To... panel in Pages v5.2. As Peter commented, and I would verify the export results to .doc/x from Pages v5.2 before I sent it to anyone. Also, I reiterate Peter's position about using Pages ’08/’09 if you have it.

Changed handling of Microsoft Word .doc files in Finder and Quicklook
This is happening on my new MacBook Pro with Retina Display and Mountain Lion 10.8.4.
Starting a week or 10 days ago, the appearance and behavior of .doc files in my finder changed from the .docx style to the style associated with Word 6.0/95. The application associated with .doc files has always been MS Word 2011. Before this changed, I could preview them in quicklook and the icons were not changed. Word will open the .doc files if I double click from the finder (or open them from the application's Open command) but I can't quicklook the doc. files. I have tried to change the application using the two finder methods, namely through the "Get Info" command or by control-clicking on the .doc file icon. Docx. files and all versions of other MS Office applications behave normally. This seems to be a problem with .doc files only.
An interesting thing is if I change the application to open a .doc file to Pages, the "Kind' designation in the Get Info dialog changes from MS Word 6.0/95 to "Microsoft Word 97 - 2004 document" but changing the associated application back to Word 2011 doesn't fix the problem and the description changes back to Word 6.0/95. There are different recommended applications.
All of this worked fine until a few weeks ago. The problem is on my new MacBook Pro with Retina display. I have an iMac 27 inch, latest model, and this is not happening on that machine. I have tried this in several different user accounts on my MBP and the behavior is the same in each one.
I've been working with this for a week or two, and have tried resetting quicklook preferrences and restarting the process as suggested on Macfixit and elsewhere. But the problem persists. I can't tell if this is a file association problem or a quicklook problem. Usually I find solutions here but it doesn't look like anyone else is complaining.Baltwo, thanks for your advice and quick response. Thanks to you, I think I'm making some progress after a lot of frustration. I'm not quite "there" yet, though, so I hope I'm not imposing when I ask ask for a little more of your help and expertise.
