Pages 2: PDF incompatibility issues

I like to save work created with pages 2 as a PDF so I can read them on a windows box. Trouble is, they don't open on the windows box. Adobe reader states that there's a syntax error or corrupt file. It opens fine using adobe reader on the Mac. Any ideas, please?

Mine is just done using some fairly simple html. I find with the new forum software I have to use standard web color names rather than color number codes. I did a Google search for web colors. I can't find my link right now. Then I saved the code as text clippings to drag & drop into posts. You can use Level4 by Volker Runkel (one of our Level 4 users - hence the name) for formatting. I find it a great way to check how my html will appear.

    You do not have all the fonts embedded, but the basic document looks fine. There is an issue withe the printer setup in your browser that is leading to part of the page running off the paper - but that is a browser issue and not Acrobat. In some cases, a simple fix is to print as landscape.

    You can not do that using Adobe Acrobat 9. Adobe never made a create PDF add-on for Firefox for use with Adobe Acrobat 9. They created a Firefox add-on for use with Acrobat X, but currently that one does not work with Firefox 4 though Adobe are working on an update.

  • Error converting web page to PDF using Acrobat 8 IE 9 on Vista

    I am getting the following errow when I try converting web page to PDF using Acrobat 8 on IE 9 on Vista.  This worked previously but it appears that a recent update to Acrobat caused issues with this functionality.  This happened once before and after some troubleshooting the technician wasable to get the functionality working again.  The Adobe printer shows up with "Error" however I can still create PDFs from outlook.

  • Internet Explorer 9 Convert Web Page to PDF error

    Hi I have a user that is having a problem using the Convert button to convert web pages to PDF's in IE 9. In some instances they get an error that says "Acrobat had an error converting to PDF". Printing to the PDF printer seems to work flawlessly but it isnt optimal when there are hundreds of pages that need to be converted. Anyone else seen an error like this? I have repaired the Acrobat X install (10.1.0) but still get the error. It does not happen to all sites and usually, attempting to convert a second (and even third) time succeeds.

    Looks like this might be an intermittent bug, since Acrobat 10.1 added support for IE 9. Can you report the bug here:

    I have a 456 page document that was made from a data merge. It has a background image, a foreground image and a job number/description.
    I need to save each page out as a jpg and name the file with the contents of the "jobnumber" text box. Previously Peter Kahrel helped me out tremendously with a little function that looked at the job number (which was always PNXX-xxxx) and swapped it out with the real job number.
    Now the contents of the jobnumber field isn't structured, i.e., "AvocadoSwirl_V", or "BurntSienna_G".
    Is there a way to set a script label for the "jobnumber" text box and just name the output file whatever is in there?

    Most things are doable, provided that your information is precise: first you say that pages may or may not have a text frame labelled "jobnumber" and that that frame may or may not have text in it (your post can be read like that anyway).     But anyway, the last two lines of your example appear to make clear what you want. The attached script exports each page of the active document to JPG, using the contents of the text frame labelled "jobnumber" on that page. The script assumes that each page has such a text frame and that there is something in it, and that whatever is in it provides a legal file name. It doesn't do any error checking/catching at all.

    I know the colour graphic shading in the document that causes the issue of larger file size, but it doesn't make sense that printing 1 additional page with same information as first 2 pages would cause this.

  • Crystal JRC PDF Export Issue

    We are experiencing a PDF export issue with Crystal JRC version 12.2.202.  The PDF report shows 1 of 3 pages but ONLY the first page is generated.  When this occurs, ALL other users that are exporting to PDF experience the same issue with any multiple page report.  I can't find any errors in the log that would indicate what the problem is.  To resolve the issue, I have to recycle the WebLogic application server that hosts  the JRC, which would indicate something gets "locked" in memory and gets cleared when the app server is bounced.
    Any ideas on how to resolve this ?

    Though, the mentioned Sun JVM Bug explains the root-cause, the Bug status also state that it is not fixed yet.
    Also, we are reluctant to change the JVM Option to -Xint due to unknown impacts on JVM optimizations.
    Is there a patch released for CrystalReports to deal with this behavior? We are using CRJ runtime 11.5.7.620 and seeking for a patch on this version.

  • Error Converting Web Page to PDF?

    Just recently my adobe acrobat 9.4
    refused to convert web pages to pdf. I get the following message:

    Does anyone know what this means and why it just started occurring after I've had the program for a few years?
    I tried the modify/repair function which does nothing and uploaded all updates but I'm forced to resort to copying the relevant info
    by copying to a word program. Any ideas?

    Are you mean the problem lies in the browser? rgmorey said he update to the latest IE version but he still has that issue. I don't have this problem and I use two browsers, IE and firefox.
    I install a pdf creating tool and it can be served as virtual printer to save web page as pdf. And it also allows you to add password and compress text or image of pdf file to reduce the size. In my opinion, a better way to preserve webpage content to largest extent is to save webpage as image firstly then convert it to pdf file. 

  • PC users cannot open my Pages-exported PDF documents

    Has anyone encountered this? When I want to give someone a PDF, I need to export it from Pages, choose "Open with Adobe Reader," and then re-save from Reader as a different name. (If I just export from Pages, some PC users cannot open it.) When I look at the file information for these two supposed PDFs, the one that's only exported from Pages says "Portable Document Format (PDF)" and the one opened and resaved with Reader says "Adobe PDF Document." What's going on here? Is there a reason my PC friends can't open a Pages-generated PDF?

Funny, when I changed the "Open With" selection inside the "File Info" box to tell it to use Reader, it it still tells me in the "General" information section that it's a "Portable Document Format (PDF)", but it does replace the "Preview" icon in the upper left with the Adobe logo. Only the version that I physically opened with Reader and re-saved lists the "Kind" of document as an "Adobe PDF Document". Wacky.
    Regarding the extension, when I exported from Pages, the "Hide Extension" box was unchecked in the "Save" window, yet the file's PDF extension is in fact hidden (and the "File Info" box also says it's hidden). What's up with that? Grr.
    Seems like a small bug--now I just have to get some PC-using friends to let me know which ones they can open! Thanks for your (tres rapide) help guys!

    I'm really ticked at Adobe's "help" in updating the program only to cause a lot of misery.  I'd read Acrobat had a security update, and got a constant reminder from Adobe update to install the available update.  I've been using Acrobat Pro 8.1.6 with absolutely no problems printing web pages to PDFs.  I installed the 8.1.7 update which immediately disabled Acrobat completely.  So I wasted a lot of time uninstalling Acrobat and reinstalling sequential versions to get back to 8.1.6.  Now I can't print web pages to a PDF.
    I had NOT done anything else to installed programs in the meantime, except that probably Norton has automatically updated antivirus files in the background.  I don't have any problems using Acrobat to open and print an existing PDF, or to create new PDFs from my scanner.  I can do a hardcopy print of a webpage by selecting my Brother printer.  From Word 2002 and Excel 2002, I can create a PDF by "printing" to Acrobat as usual.   The only problem is creating a PDF by "printing" a webpage by selecting Acrobat as the device from the list of available printers.  This problem happens both with Firefox and with Internet Explorer 7.

    The problem with the FM 'CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF' is when my spool have more than 99 pages. In this case, the FM generate a backscreen job (sm37) to convert my spool and generate a binary PDF spool.
    After this step, the 'FM SO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1' send an e-mail with the binary PDF File recovered in the spool list but i can't open the file with Adobe Reader because the format is wrong.
    Someone knows how could i convert my big spool list to PDF file to send it by e-mail adress ?

LiveCycle PDF Generator is the one you should look at, it comes in 3 editions. License terms are by negotiation. Key management is via its Java API.

    I am a relative InDesign newbie, so please excuse my ignorance. I have document of installation instructions that is printed on a single double-sided piece of paper, which is then folded. So in InDesign, there are two layout spreads. The first one includes actual pages 2,3,4,5,6,7,8, and 9. The second one includes 10,11,12,13,14,15,16, and 1.
    After updating this I want to create both a spread version of the pdf for a printer, plus a regular page ordered pdf for web viewing. I am not clear on how to do this.
    I am using CS5.

    There are two "pages". Not sure how they are referred to in InDesign, but when you look at the InDesign doc, you see two separate "pages", each one divided into 8 sections. There is also a third "page" which includes all the specs for the printer (it is in the spread version of the pdf, but is not printed and not included in the web version of the pdf).
