Pages 5.0 in Maverick causes Konica Minolta Bizhub Features to be deleted

I have 2 schools which I administer and my own business.
They all have BizHub Printers
C360
C364
C451
C452
All have the latest drivers installed (UK site or eu site is best)
All other apps including Word, Acrobat, Photoshop etc all print correctly, although KM admit they are slow to bring out 10.9 drivers.
Pages 5, if it doesn't have the latest (Set 2012) driver installed, will crash.  Withe the latest driver, when one prints, all the Printer features have strike though except the last one - Printer features.
This is a Pages.all specific problem.
Temporary fix is to save the document and then print it as a pdf and then it will print fine.
However, its not optimum and both Apple and KM need to get their act into gear.

Hi there, no such thing as a 'link' is needed. After selecting print from the file menu (or pressing apple + p) the print-dialog window appears.
In the right hand half of it you will find a drop down menu half way down (in the middle of a horizontal line)
If you select it the options appear and a lot of them will be striked-through. Just below of these striked-through options there is an option called printer options. Select that and just below it another drop-down menu will appear called feature sets, in there all options are to be found. You might have some searching to do, but they are all there.
Good luck.

  • Konica Minolta bizhub C353 going in to a pause state several times a day.

I have a client with a mixed 10.5 and 10.4 network. Since installing a Konica Minolta bizhub C353 MFP we've been having an issue with the NIC on the MFP locking up (not responding to pings, web utils not coming up) and the print queue showing the machine in a paused state. I am certain that the issue is not related to the MFP because we swapped an identical MFP of the clients from another location and the issue remained on the original network (i.e. the MFP having the problem worked fine at the new location that the MFP not having the problem started screwing up).
A recent packet capture showed that a print job being sent from a workstation using a CUPS based print driver instead of the Konica Minolta driver. The print request has several commands preceding it that are NOT generated by the Konica Minolta driver. These commands actually prevented the document from being distilled from the captured packets and once we removed the commands we were able to distill the document.
So question one is: does OSX use CUPS when printing from a generic driver? Question two is: has anyone had issues with using a generic print driver such as network lockups and the like?

The Console application is located in Application > Utilities.
A good trick on the Mac to open applications is to use Spotlight - the little magnifying glass in the top right hand corner.
To open, either click on the icon or press Command Space. Then type in cons and you will see a list of hits, Console being one of them. Select it and the application will open.
Console is like Windows Event Viewer. Just about everything that goes on the Mac is logged and Console lets you see that.
With Console open, expand the entry /var/log. You should see the cups entry. Expand this and you will see the error_log. It may not mean much to you at first but the trick is to look at the left side of the right hand pane. You will see heaps of I's, meaning information, and if there are any errors they will start with an E.
Note that the start of every job is with the creation of a banner page (a leftover from UNIX days). This can also help you find your way around the log. It will also show all the filters and plugins that are being called for that job and may help identify the extra stuff you were seeing with the sniff, although this could have been a port check to make sure the socket was open.
As for the KM driver, it is often not a bad idea to use a generic driver when troubleshooting, but of course this will not provide the user with all the features of the printer - such as finishing options. So that is why I say it is for troubleshooting. If the generic driver works but the vendor provided doesn't, then you have narrowed down your causes. You'd be surprised by how easy most drivers are to install. But unlike Windows it is a two step process - install the driver software first and then add the print queue. If you find a C353 driver for OS X, then it will probably have an installer that you run (by double-clicking) and this will copy all the relevant driver files to the Mac. Note that you will have to authenticate with an admin account, just like Vista, to run the installer.
Hope this helps you a bit more. Feel free to ask more questions if you need to.

  • Driver functionality om Konica Minolta Bizhub c250

My office printer is a Konica Minolta Bizhub c250. I'm trying to install the printer on my new macbook pro running osx 10.6.6. The printer seems to support mac, and I downloaded the drivers from:
    http://onyxftp.mykonicaminolta.com/download/SearchResults.aspx?productname=c250
The drivers seems to install fine, and I'm able to print pages. The problem is that there are no advanced driver settings (two-sided printing, settings for color/greyscale etc).
After installing the drivers I get a window with some settings - I select "duplex unit" but this doesnt seem to do anything.
Is there a way to install this printer with full functionality like duplex-printing, color/greyscale, stapling etc. ?

I installed the drivers you cited and created a dummy printer. The options you want are there--just not in the usual places. In a print window use the pop up menu to look for the various categories of options. For Duplex, look under the Finishing. You will find a check box for Duplex. For Color/Grayscale, use Quality -> Select Color.
I think you will find all the options you need in the print window. You will just have to explore all the various option categories until you find the choices you want.

  • Konica Minolta Bizhub C451 driver?

Any ideas on when the magical driver for this puppy will with Snow Leopard?

Maybe I found a temporary solution.
In my case (and I am not the only one, it seems) konica minolta bizhub c451 10.5 intel drivers do not work (i got the per page plugin error).
So I downloaded ver 3.01 drivers (Mac OS 10.4x - Drivers, PPD tab). Turns out it kind of works.
    Kind of means:
    it does not crash
printer specific features (output, finishing, covers ect..) do not works as intended: menu items are stroked through
BUT i have a new menu item: printer features! I can select features such as 2 page print or binding.
It's not user friendly, but it is much better that generic PS drivers.
    Hope this helps.

  • Is there a utility to operate a printer under 10.6 from 10.7.2? (No 10.7.2 driver for Konica Minolta bizhub C351)

Konica Minolta bizhub C351 operates reasonably well from an OS X 10.6.x Mac.   As of 12-17-11 Konica Minolta reports no driver for 10.7.2, and our office groupo C351 will not respond to 10.7.2.  Older Macs still under 10.6.8 operate as usual.  From Apply Support directions, direct connecting between iMac 10.7.2 and C351 resulted with iMac no recognizing the C351.  Konica Minolta support, including "advanced", via telephone, confirmed there was no 10.7.2 driver availabe to date.
Suggestion from an Apple user (but not an expert) is that there should be a utility available somewhere with which a Mac operating under 10.7 can dial down to 10.6 for purposes of a situation such as this.  If such a utility, or other solution is out there, please share that wisdom.
    Thanks!

In our office we just switched back to Snow Leopard. Happy as clams now.

I am having difficulty finding where to set our network Konica Minolta bizhub C280 printer to print black and white instead of colour from my macbook pro with OSX 10.8.2. I dont want to change the default printer settings, just change individual document print settings. Can anyone please assist me as to where and how to do this?

"How about under "Default Settings"? Is there a option for B&W printing?"
    No there isn't.

  • Has anyone successfully set up scan to smb to mac os 10.7.x from a Konica Minolta bizhub

Has anyone successfully set up scan to smb to mac os 10.7.x from a Konica Minolta bizhub. I'm using 10.7.3 on MacBook Pro. Don't care what model bizhub is being used as I have access to many. I've seen the posts for FTP workarounds but want to use SMB if that is an option. Any suggestions? Thank you!

I've read other discussions that have suggested changing the format of the username and password when having login problems. I'm not familiar with NT-Status Codes. Could changing the format of the username make any difference? Something like... "workgroup/username" or "username@domain" or "domain/username" or some other combination of workgroup, domain, username, computername.
The issue has nothing to do with the format of the user authentication. What you are reading is about the Lion Mac connecting to a Windows computer that is part of domain or workgroup. The method changed slightly compared to Snow Leopard.
KM does support FTP so that is still an option, but I would ideally would like to set up SMB scanning. I'm not sure if KM is going to support AFP anytime soon.
With the lack of SMB support and KM offering no alternative at this stage then I suggest you look at using FTP. While Lion removed the option to enable FTP via the Sharing pane in System Preferences, it can still be enabled via Terminal using the following command
    sudo -s launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/ftp.plist
    You will be prompted to authenticate using your Mac's admin account & password. Once this is done, you can then configure the address on the copier to push scan using FTP. The keys are;
The host name requires just the IP address. No leading slashes like SMB
The path will be the folder that you want to scan to, also entered without a leading slash. For example, Desktop
The user name will be the short name of the account who's folder you want to scan to.
The only other option may be WebDAV if the KM supports it. We have this with our imageRUNNER ADVANCE and with a document scanned to a shared folder in the copier hard drive, we can then connect to that folder by using Finder's > Go > Connect to Server facility. You then just enter
    http://ipaddress/share
which connects you to the shared folder and lets you see the document you scanned. You also have the facility to set subfolders for security of users documents.

  • Printing Color Options on Konica Minolta Bizhub

I am printing from my MacBook to a Konica/Minolta Bizhubc252. I have never had a problem doing the wireless printing. I, however, cannot choose to either print in color or grayscale. It chooses for me. Over time it has switched back and forth from defaulting b/w to color for no apparent reason (I assume it has to do with automatic updates) Right now it is stuck on b/w.
My question is this: How do I tell my printing options that I want my color document to print in color?
Thanks guys, these threads are extremely helpful.

  • Printing in a mailbox (Konica Minolta Bizhub)

    hi together,
we have a big department-printer (Konica Minolta bizhub).
The windows-driver of this printer allows you to print into your own mailbox.
This "mailbox" is a password-protected folder on the printer´s harddrive.
So after printing in your mailbox you can go to the printer, fill in your user-id and password and print the documents/pictures/whatever.
In windows it works fine but does anybody have an idea, how to enable this in SAP?

    Thanks for your reply.
I think my post was a bit ambiguous.
I do not want to send spools to Mailboxes(e.g. Gmail), but I want to send spools to "mailboxes" (they are called so) on the printer.. Maybe it would be better to call them Printboxes.
One example: In windows I can print into my printbox as much I want. The documents dont get printed really, but they are stored in my inbox on the printer. If I want to, I can go now to the printer, fill in my user-ID and password and print the documents. This mailbox is just a protected folder on the printers harddrive.

  • Did Leapord uninstall my konica minolta bizhub c352?

I have a Konica Minolta Bizhub c352 that I was able to print to before the install of leapard. I installed leapord and now it cant see the Bizhub. Are there not drivers out for it or is there anything I can do?
    Thank you,

I have a Konica Minolta Bizhub too. After I installed Leopard, I had to reinstall the Konica Minolta software. Once installed, you have to set up the printer through the print and fax preference. It now works fine!

  • Printing Tip for Konica Minolta Bizhub C550

    Hi all,
I've been browsing the forums for the last week, as I just upgraded to Leopard at work. We use a Konica Minolta BizHub C550 for the vast majority of our printing jobs, and I found that I was having the problem others have described with the print queue inexplicably stalling repeatedly, with the job never getting printed. I'm up and running on our other 2 printers, a Magicolor 7450 and Canon iPF700.
In any case, I have found a good workaround for the BizHub. I am using the printer drivers for the Xerox WorkCentre 7655 with good results. I can choose the correct paper sizes and settings, and don't seem to be having any color matching issues (yet). So I wanted to share this, as I didn't see it in the forums when I was initially freaking out about the situation. Our sales rep we lease the printer from has been communicating with KM all week, and they apparently have no clue when they'll be ready with 10.5 compatible drivers.

    Wow,
I am not alone!!! I recently agreed to a lease of a C550. We have both Windows and Mac workstations and the performance is very poor in the Mac environment. The drivers are severely crippled.
I have been working with my sales rep, a color specialist, and an application specialist from KM and all three of them have had the same problems when testing files. And no one has offered a resolution. I should I have stayed with Xerox.
I have had the same problem as you described. As well as very bad color results. If I try to send a file in CMYK mode on the Mac workstation everything is extremely dark (Light Brown turns Black, etc.) The same file on the windows computer in CMYK is fine. Also, I have taken the same files to a Xerox dealer to compare. The files came out much more accurate (as close as can be expected for a color laser print). I have been in the design and printing industry for over 10 years and I have never been this disappointed. I am curious to see how things turn out and how many other Apple user are left behind with Konica Minolta Drivers.

  • Getting Konica Minolta Bizhub 350 Scanner to work using Parallels

    Hello All,
I have recently switched my office over to mac. We have a Konica Minolta Bizhub 350 printer, copier, scanner and fax. The software supplied by konica works great on mac, except for the IP scanner software which is windows only. We have installed the scanner software on windows/parallels and the settings for the scanner and scanner software have been made the same as they were with the windows software. The issue is this....the scanner recognizes the mac's IP address however when we scan something the PDF is never received by the mac. I think that this is some firewall issue with the mac and windows platform getting along but I can't figure out anything for sure. Any ideas are appreciated as Konica doesn't provide tech support for issues like this as they don't understand the parallels intricies.
    Thx, Bryan

Since Parallels is not an Apple product, you'll get better response if you use the Parallels forums <http://forums.parallels.com> rather than an Apple forum that focuses on compatibility between Macs and Windows

  • Konica Minolta Bizhub 250 printer driver on Leopard problems

    Hello All,
I upgraded to Leopard and lost my printer drivers for both of my printers. I have been able to restore my HP7410 wireless via my airport at home. However, my office printer is a Konica Minolta Bizhub 250K also working through an airport extreme. My problem is that I have tried to download the driver for the Bizhub with the disc that came with the unit. After I go through the download process it says I've downloaded successfully but can not find it on my hard drive, even with MAC's support. I have searched the Konica Minolta support site only to find older versions of the driver. I finally got the (KONICAMINOLTA350105.pkg) to show up on my hard drive but when I open it it only takes me back through installing the (KONICA MINOLTA 350/250/200 Printer Driver Installer for Mac OS X (10.5)) process again without installing a driver.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks,
    DG

    Hello DG,
Mac OS X printer installers typically copy files to ./Library/Printers/vendor_name. If the driver is simply a PPD, then it will be copied to ./Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/en.lproj/ (note the leading period refers to your hard drive)
I downloaded the driver installer for 10.5 that you mentioned. It creates the folder KONICAMINOLTA under ./Library/Printers/ and has two subfilters, PDEs and filter. I then selected to add an IP printer with a dummy IP address and then searched for the 250 via the Print Using menu, by typing C250. The KONICA MINOLTA C250 PS(P) was then displayed, which I selected to Add.
Now, the issue for you will be how do you connect to this printer via Airport. If the printer is connected via the Ethernet port of the AEBS, then you should be able to add via IP and select either LPD or HP Jetdirect-Socket (which is aka Port 9100 RAW). After entering these details you can then browse for the C250.
    Hope this helps,
    PaHu
