Pages 5.1(1769) on Mac fails to open my document stored in iCloud
When I select in Pages a document (that was there since march 2013), a dialog pops up saying that it was impossible to open file "my file name.pages.tef".
Any idea on what's going on here ?
.tef is the iCloud storage format (which you are not supposed to see).
Usually corrected by turning off iCloud in the System Preferences and turning it back on again.

following error occurs:

SYSTEM id from the document. Decrease the number of char between the
beginning of the document and its root element.
The SOAP document looks like:

The program is able to handle less than 50 items of

are used. The problem is that our application should be able to handle
more than 1000 items of <employee>....</employee>.
My questions are:
1. How should I configure weblogic to solve the problem?
2. How should I configure the deployment of Apache SOAP to solve the
problem?
Pls advise. Thanks.One can deduce from the error message that the parser is looking for the
<?XML...?> portion of the document because that is where the SYSTEM and
PUBLIC ids are found in the document.

Pages is "not responding" when I try to open any document on a Lion Operating System, Macbook Pro. What can I do?
Ah then that is the issue.
1. Is Pages registered? It turns into a demo version after 3months otherwise.
2. This makes it interesting as to what happens if it has, because a demo version can't/won't save and I'm curious if this causes a bug in the ever so wonderfully thought through process of versioning in Lion
3. There may actually be a problem with one of the documents which again causes a bug in the ever so wonderfully thought through process of versioning in Lion
4. You are entitled to AppleCare telephone support to try ands resolve this in detail which is difficult to do without seeing what is actually going on because there are multiple files involoved
5. Which raises the issue of does it freeze consistently on hitting a certain document? In which case moving or archiving that document may get Pages to actually launch

So she's stuck. Any ideas?The documents remain in iCloud, but are removed from your mac. So if she turns it off, they will be removed. If she turns it back on, the documents would again be available.

I have Pages 4.3 on my macbook and cannot open cloud documents without going to Pages 5; App store says it is already installed and I can't upgrade. Suggestions please.

If I use pages and numbers on a Mac can I save the documents as an extension that I can use on a PC?

You can save Pages documents as Word documents and save a Numbers document as an Excel file. In Lion you can go to File>Export and then save as Word or Excel.
I assume that there is a way to do it in SL or Leopard as well. -
Why can't I open files from pages and numbers on my mac, I can open them on my macbook air
When I try and open a file from either numbers, pages and keynotes on my mac I get a message telling me "The file “Essential Skills Module 10 Presentations.key” couldn’t be opened." I am still able to open them on my MacBook Air and iPad. Can anyone help me with this?

Just updated to new version of pages. Now can not open stored documents created under al pages. Get message "the application pages can' be opened -1712" hat do I do?
Apple released Pages 5.0 to run on Maverics only. They completely rewrote the program for Maverics and 64 bit compatibility. They failed to explain that this version is missing much of the previous version's capability and that it cannot read older Pages files. When they install it they leave the older Pages 4.3 in place because it is the only way to read the older Pages files and upgrade them to a level that can be read by Pages 5!
If you still have Pages 4.3 on your computer it will tell you what to do. If you do not then go into your backups and retrieve it.
Because of the deficiences of Pages 5 I have removed it from my Mac and gone back to working with Pages 4.3. I have also removed Pages 2 from my iPad and found Pages 1.7 in the Time Machinew backups and brought it forward and droped it onto the iTunes icon to restore it and then synced the iPad to get the Pages 1.7 running again - it is compatible with Pages 4.3 on the Mac so all is back to normal for me.
Apple say that they will fix many of the deficiences in Pages 5 in the next six months. I suggest you wait until then and keep an eye on these communities beforte considering the "upgrade".
Incedentaly Pages 5.0 writes files that cannot be read by anything else including Pages 4.3 - better hope no one sends you one! It does not save RTF either - what where they thinking! -
Failed to open flash document?????
I have been working on a flash website inside flash CS5 here at school. I have been working for almost 3 hours with no problems and I have made sure to save from time to time. I have saved with no problems. My problem came when I clicked on test movie. As the movie was loading to test the SWF of the website flash crashed and closed out on me. I had just saved before testing so I could have the latest saved. I double click on my flash document to re-open flash and I get a message that says "Failed to open document." Right after the message it lists the folder where my file is located. I still cannot get past this message and my file is a website I have been working on for over 3 hours now. I needed this for school and I guess if I can't fix it I will have to start from scratch although I had so much work completed.
Any ideas? I even tried to open flash first and then go to file open but that did nothing except give me the same error message. Then I looked under recent documents and clicked on the file document and got the same thing. I have no idea what to do. Has anyone had this problem or similar before with some sort of solution to save my 3 hours of work? ThanksHi there!
I had just finished my website when I saved the file (fla) and shut Flash down. I needed to transfer a different file from my computer onto another computer. I mounted my usb and realized there would not be enough room, so I binned some of the files and tried to empty the trash. My computer said "preparing to empty trash" for nearly 20 mins. I forced shut down my computer and restarted. Emptied the trash fine - transfered the file fine. But when I reopened the website on flash I recieved the "can not find document...." error message. I had closed Flash down before emptying my trash, and made certain there were no Flash files in there. The SWF is fine though. And I had not found any issues with saving it or any warning signs that this was going to happen.

I really don't know what happened to Pages. First I was using the app, working on a document and everything was fine. I updated it a couple of times and there was no problem. Then, when I tried to open it once more snd continue to work with it, a message appeared telling me that the document had been modified in other iPad. Usually this would make sense but not this time because this file was only used on my iPad. So I chose to keep the document version created on my iPad and **** got loose since then. The document could't open, every time I tried, a message told me "The file cannot be open", so I read A LOT of what to do in this horrible case and tried to open it via iTunes but the option withbthe little arrow that usually works for send the file via e-mail, or to dropbox, or to print appear like I can't use it for anything so most of my options and hopes died. Then on a Mac I tried to dowñoad the file to see if there I could open it or at least change the file code from .pages to .zip and then unzip it but I can't even dowload it form iCloud so you see, I'm desperate. I need help, please! The document is very very important so could you tell me how can I recover it?

Pages won't open documents stored in iCloud
After a major crash of my iMac after installing Mavericks, I returned to my MacBook Air running Mountain Lion and installed Pages 9.0 (can't reinstall Mavericks on the iMac due to an extremely slow connection)
Now the problem:
Pages won't show me my previously saved Pages documents in iCloud under "Open existing files". (Actually, it won't even save new documents on iCloud).
For info:
"Documents and Date" is checked in iCloud system preferences.
All documents show in Finder under an alias folder I created of the Mobile Documents. But I can't open them.
Even "open with" will give me only Terminal as available app.
The only document that will open was a document created after the upgrade to Mavericks on the iMac...
Any ideas what is wrong?

Pages for iOS 2.0.1
Pages 5 for Mac OSX 10.9
iWork for iCloud beta
iCloud
Anything going through iCloud now gets converted to the new format.
Pages 5 only runs on OSX 10.9 and can open Pages '09 files but often damages them. It can not open Pages '08 files.
Pages 5 can export files back to Pages '09 but often with a much simpler format as Pages 5 is missing over 90 features.
Pages for iCloud beta uses the new Pages 5 format but lacks UI and many formatting tools.
Pages '09 can not open Pages 5 files at all.
Far from being a format for all it is a format for very few. It requires specific versions of all the software, running on only compatible hardware and operating systems.
I do recommend you stick with Pages '09 just to get your work done and that you do not update to OSX 10.9 Mavericks. This means not being able to transfer files back and forth via iCloud to your iPad. The best you will be able to do is Export to Word .doc and email that to yourself.
The whole arrangement is a rats nest of things going wrong. You are either stuck with the latest version of Pages with very few features, format that nothing else reads and all the bugs, or you use Pages '09 which works but will have it files screwed up by iCloud and can't swap files with the iPad version.

Pages is up to date, yet can not open a document.
I am working with the current version of pages, however a document I was just working on now will not open and says I need the current version of pages. How can I fix this?!

This message usually means that you have both iWork 08 and iWork 09 on your computer. That's not a problem per se, but you can't use iWork 08 to open iWork 09 documents, and that's what causes the message.
You need to make sure that you are uing iWork 09 apps unless you have a particular need to keep a document in 08 format. Use the command Pages > About Pages to find which version you are using. If the Pages icon on your Dock brings up the iWork 08 version, Quit Pages and then drag the icon off the Dock so you don't use it by accident.
Find the 09 version in the Applicaitons folder, in iWork '09, and drag the Pages app to the Dock to set the proper shortcut.
