Pages 5.2.2 : Different section layouts in a same doc.

Hello,
I have the latest version of Pages 5.2.2.
In one document I want to create multiple sections with different layout: orientation (portrait or landscape) and margins.
According to information provided, including online help, this should be possible. Yet every time I change one of parameters in a section, all the document "layout" is changed.
Do you have a solution?
In advance thank you
(For french speakers only ;-) )
Bonjour,

Thanks Picas for this direct and simple answer, even if this disappointed me
Never mind, I have to use another app or find a "way-to", hoping this will be upgrade in a future version.
To answer to your question :
1st link - The french app's online help - Related Page :  "Create sections", you'll find this : "Un document peut contenir une ou plusieurs sections. Vous pouvez ajouter une section pour utiliser un format différent pour une partie du document, par exemple. Chaque section possède sa propre pagination, ses en-têtes, bas de page et image d’arrière-plan."
I translate for you or perhaps are you french speaking ? : "A document can contain one or more sections. You can add a section to use a different format for a portion of the document, for example. Each section has its own pagination, its headers, footers, and image background."
Perhaps I misunderstood the 2 sentences
2nd link and others : using this google search "Mac Pages 5.2 Document section layouts"
Reading the french online help and flying over the results of my Google searches, it seems to appear to me that it was possible, by simply choose the section in the preview and change the parameters of the chosen section.
One more time, thanks for your time and you answer.

  • Is it possible to have Different Interval Ranges for the same Doc Type

    Dear All,
Here is the issue. Is it possible to have different interval ranges for the same document type according to certain condition.Like my client , wants his interval ranges  be divided according to region(which are many)

    Hello,
As you know we can only assign one number range for External and one number range group for internal in the sales document type.
If you want different number ranges based on the regions, then as Jignesh suggested, you need to go for an enhancement.
Use the exit USEREXIT_NUMBER_RANGE in program MVA45AFZZ, include a Z table with region as a critera and number range group for different numbers based on the regions. Talk to the business and get more details, get the help of ABAP team for technical details.

  • Setting different pages widths in different sections - Pages 5.2

In Pages 5.2, how does one set different page widths (margins) in different sections?

You can't. Margins apply to the entire document.
What you can do is set the margins to their max width and then use left and right indents for the sections you want narrower.

  • Hyperlinks directed to different section of same page?

Is this possible in iWeb? What I want is to have a menu bar at the top of one of my pages that links to different sections of the same page since its a really long page. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There is a way using HTML snippets. See Peter Berglund's post in this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9044022#9044022 and then go to his blog for more info.
I've used it in the Contents page for my demo sites. The links in green are to "anchors" on the pages indicated.
The hyperlink would be http://web.me.com/MMeAccount_Name/Site_Name/PageName#widgetX with X being the number of the widget just above the area you want to direct to. You'll have to publish the page and the change the X until you get the location you want (particularly if you have more than one widget on a page). The widgets are numbered in the order they were created.

  • Am creating document with Pages. pages are in "portrait" orientation, but two charts at end need to be "landscape". changing the orientation for one section changes it for entire doc. can i have different orientations in Pages for different sections?

am creating a document with Pages.  all pages using "portrait" orientation, except 2 appendices need to be in "landscape".  in Word for Windows it is possible to have different page orientations for different sections of a document.  is that possible with Pages.  Even when i put the appendices in a different section, changing the page orientation changes it for the entire doc.

Make a separate document the size and orientation you want.
Turn that into a pdf and add it back into the original Pages document or into the pdf from from that document.

  • Would crtl+f work or is there another way to search or quickly hyperlink to different sections on the page?

We have a very long extended data tab full of custom sections and we would like to be able to give a user a way to search the page quickly.
Would crtl+f work or is there another way to search or quickly hyperlink to different sections on the page?

I don't know enough about your use case to provide specific direction but you may be able to use the 6.1.1 UI extensibility point.  For example, you could add an anchor link collection control that scrolls the page to the top of each section when selected.

  • I am trying to change the page number format in a section of my document.  I want 2 sections to have 2 different page number formats.  How can I do this?

I have 2 sections in my Pages document.  I am using Insert Auto Pages in footers to number my pages, but when I try to change the number format for one section it changes the format to the same as my change for the other section.  I want auto page number in each section but want each section's page numbers to have different formats. I have managed to get the auto page numbering to begin separately in each section, but just can't get the formats to be different.  There must be a way to do this.  Anyone know how?

You look on the right edge of this page in the box entitled [More Like This].
The dumb machine was able to find threads containing available answers .
Using the Search feature with a simple request like
page number AND format AND section
would have give these links without opening a new thread.

No, not PageHeader - but PageLayout. My notes say that the UI element was new in 7.01, but I have a 7.02 system so I can't check for sure. It is possible that if you don't see it in your 7.01 system that my notes are incorrect and it actually will come with 7.02. Sorry about that.
Of course you can acomplish the say with layout options, transparent containers, and trays - but if you had access ot the new PageLayout element the same process would just be easier to do.

  • Can I change a Page Layout into a Section Layout?

I bought a 3rd party template that I am using for my book. The most page designs show up under the Page Layout. The Section Layouts have fewer design choices. So, I want to move one of the Page Layout templates and make it act as a Section Layout - So it's not just a Page which is nested into a Section... I can't figure it out... Can someone help?
    Thank you!

You can do it by creating a new section (duplicate an existing one and give it a new name). Delete everything, and copy-paste your desired Page layout elements into it --both to the first page and the second page, which becomes the default non-first Page layout for that section. If the second page doesn't show, go into the text box and insert a page break.
I think, but I don't remember, that for flowing text I just kept and resized the text box in the original section, and reformatted the text. Not sure if this is the best procedure, or if there is a clean way of creating flowing text boxes --in my case I just thought doing it that way would be faster than investigating.

  • How do I apply different margins to different section in the same document?

In Pages 5, how do I apply different margins to different section in the same document? there are is no layout break like in Pages 4.

Use the Text Format Pane, Layout Tab, Indents.
You could do the same thing by dragging the margin stops on the Ruler.

  • Different margins in different sections

Is it possible in Pages (iWork '09) to set different margins for different sections? If so, how?

    D,
You must first set the Document Margins in the Document Inspector, Document Tab, Document Margins area. This setting is the narrowest margin that you intend to use anywhere in the document.
Then when you add a Layout Break, go to the Layout Inspector, Layout Tab, Layout Margins area and add more margin width with the settings there.
The Document Margins dictate the maximum text width (smallest margins) anywhere in the document. The Layout Margins further narrow the text area on a per-layout-region basis.

  • New Section Layout Change

I've been attempting to change the layout for a second page of the letter in a Pages document. The first page I made using one of the templates and then when going to page 2 the first page layout continued. I attempted to change the layout on page 2 via Section Break and also Layout Bread... neither worked. When I attempted to change the left margin on page 2, after the Layout Break, the margin also moved on Page 1.
I attempted to change the Layout via the Inspector and clicked on column width... nothing happens! Despite the pop up suggestions that the program provided!!
HELP... desperately trying to unMicrosoft myself
    Thanks.

    j,
The whole point of a header or footer is to have repeating information. For example, in the storyboard template, you might have the name of the film, the director's name, the date, and the page number. Still, there may be cases when you might want something different on, say, the first page header or footer. Here's how you could do it.
Pages defines a word processing document as one long section. Everything put in the header of one page in the section will repeat in the headers of the other pages. So the trick is to divide the document into more than one section.
Say you want certain info in the footer on page one, and different info in the footer of the rest of the pages. You'd start by putting your cursor at the end of page 1, then clicking on Insert > Section Break. Put your cursor in page 2, then click on the Layout inspector > Section > and UNcheck Use Previous Headers & Footers. Now you should be able to change the info in the footers independently of the two sections, so that a change in the first section's footer will not affect what's in the second section's footer.
    Clear as mud?

  • Need to reset page numbers for each layout which has same data

    Hi Gurus,
I have an requriement to reset the page number from 1 for each layout in same template.
I know we can do this by @section when we have multiple header_id, but in my case, i have the same data that need to be shown in 3 different layouts under the same template.
So for the first layout it should start with 1 of 2, 2 of 2
    Second layout should start with 1 of 2 , 2 of 2
    Third layout should start with 1 of 2 , 2 of 2
    Any help is highly appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hello Everyone,
Appreciate if any clue about the mentioned requirement.

  • How to filter the data in different sections (e.g. Report Footers)?

    Hi,
I am using Crystal Reports 11 to generate cross-tables.
I plan to generate 3 cross-tabs, and each cross-table will be put in a section. For example, cross-tab1 in Report Footer a; cross-tab2 in Report Footer b; cross-tab3 in Report Footer c.
I know use "Select Expert" to filter data. But, it seems that "Select Expert" filters data for the whole report.
I want to filter the data for each cross-table separately. For example, filter cross-tab1 based on condition1; filter cross-tab2 based on condition2; filter cross-tab3 based on condition3.
How to filter the data in different sections (e.g. Report Footers)?
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi,
Now that you've inserted the subreport just right-click the sub-report and click Edit. The Design page for sub-report should open up.
You can now insert the cross-tab on the Report Header and insert a record selection formula of your choice.
Also, suppress all the other sections of the subreport so the Main report only shows the crosstab without any spaces.
Do the same for all the subreports.
