Pages 5 Where is text box linking and autoflow?

Pages 5 appears to be missing the ability to link text boxes and autoflow them. This is really important for the imposition (putting the printed pages in order) of small booklets.
Does anyone know if it is possible in Pages 5?

It is infuriating when Apple replaces a good application - easy to use and very functional - with something that is clunky and lumpen and has fewer features, or discontinues it altogether.

From the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Preferences then select the Appearance tab. Tick the box next to: Display images when the page opens.
If that box is already ticked, from the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...

Web pages now include a small icon or 'favicon' which is visible in the address bar and next to bookmarks. These icons take up disk space and slow Safari down. HELP!!! Can anyone please provide some guidance on how to create a dynamic form where selected text boxes appears, based on options chosen in a drop-down box.
I have a form which – based on the department that's selected from a drop-down box – will have different form fields/text boxes, etc, made available.
Is this possible in LiveCycle, if so, can you please provide the script/info - as needed.

In the preOpen event of the second dropdown list you put something like (in formCalc):

Expanding text boxes, pagination and expanding to another page

Attached is a link to a simple form which is actually part of a much larger form. It has several nested add and remove instances. I have three fairly simple issues I need to solve.
     1. Is it possible to set a text box to allow it to grow in height as information is added that exceeds the size of the text box. This feature is available as a property in Microsoft Access as an example. I know you can allow multiple lines but you can see them all without the expanding feature.
     2. This form is design to grow by adding instances. I would like to set up the pagination so it would flow to additional page(s). I think I would just like the line
to continue to flow to the next page without creating a break in the primary instance if that makes sense (the top level of the instances - mode). This level could theoretically by larger than one page so this is probably best route to go. Currently it's not flowing at all to the 2nd page.
     3. Somehow I ended up with a 2nd page to the form. How do I delete that but yet have the expanding form automatically create a 2nd, 3rd (etc) page as required.

Hi Patrick,
I can't make changes to your form at the moment, but there are a few things you need to bear in mind. If you want items to expand and push objects down, then you will need a Flowed layout.

Also this looks at the difference between Flowed (where you want to get to) and Positioned (where you are now) subforms: http://assure.ly/eSGQMt.
Yes, just select the textfield and go to the LAyout palette. There under height, tick Expand to fit. If you preview this you will see that it expands, BUT will cross over objects beneath it. This is where you need to group objects in a Flowed subform, so that when it expands it will push objects down.
The page needs to be set to Flowed. There are pagination settings available under the Object palette and you can start with Place = Follow previous and then Continue filling parent. You also want to make sure that for the subforms (and textfields) you have set in the Object palette that content is allowed to break over pages.
Check your pagination settings.

I have a perplexing problem with creating some links. I created a button using the shapes tools, I use the command/shift/4 to capture the image I created, I go to photoshop, edit it, then save it as a jpeg, put it into my site, make it a link, publish the site .... then nothing. The link won't work. Any other jpeg image i put in easily converts to a link if I desire, why won't this?
Also, I have read on here that you can use a transparent text box over text to create a link without having to convert the actual text and get the annoying underline, etc. that come with it. Any idea how to do this?

The process that you describe should work exactly like that. I'm not sure what the issue is with those buttons. Do you have a URL where we can take a look at one of these buttons? It may be that they are getting obscured by something else maybe?

This is true. You can always overlay a SHAPE and change its opacity in the Inspector Graphics tab to 1% in order to make it transparent. It has to be 1% or more, though...zero doesn't work. Also, if the text that you want hyperlinked or hotspotted is in a textbox all by itself, then you can also attach the hyperlink to the textbox itself instead of selecting the text in the textbox. That will also avoid the underline....but it works only if the text is in a textbox all by itself.

I have 10 indd files and each file has one page and a table is only item present on page. So few files has table present in one table and few files has two text boxes because table has many rows so spiltted in two linked text boxes.
I somehow able to select both text boxes but while exporting them only one text box table get exported as png because of improper code.

Iwork:Pages:Mail Merge:text boxes?

In iwork: I have in a Pages document, 20 (1 7/8" square) text boxes that I am trying to mail merge info from a Numbers document. I have tried linking the text boxes and when I click to mail merge the info so that each text box has info from a line in the Numbers doc. it won't work and ends up giving me many pages with just one text boxes with the info from my Numbers doc. Can anyone help? Is what I'm trying to do possible?

You can do this with the addition of one simple step: Find and Replace.
I can't give you specific directions since I don't know what label layout you are using, and I'd rather leave that part to you anyway. A Mail Merge to Pages gives you one record per Section. To combine all the sections, all you need do is Find and Replace the Section Break characters and the 1-record per page document will collapse into multiple records per page, as many as will fit.
Here I have a small database for a team roster, in Numbers and I wish to print to labels in Pages.

Text Box/Area and default value

Is it possible to display a Text Box (or Text Area) in a Form page assigned a default value and prevent the user to change it? I need to register the actual user submitting the form. I have done this in WebDB22 Text Box and #user function but in Portal 3.0.6.6.5 it seems to be impossible to prevent the user to change the text value. Deselecting Validation Options, Updatable does not seems to help. Why?

The equivalent of Webdb #user function in portal is #portal30.wwctx_api.get_user.
If you specify this as a default value for a field it will be the same as #user. Also, "inseratble" and "updatable" checkboxes control the presence of a column in INSERT and UPDATE statements, so unchecking any of those checkboxes will remove the column from a respective statement.

Pages 5.1 Text box problems

In Pages 5.1 when I paste a graphic in a text box (e.g., a PNG file), it no longer stays in the text box. This was a great feature in Pages '09, the ability to paste a graphic into the text box, add figure legend text, and a line around the whole thing and have it remain as one unit.

If you still have Pages v4.n located in /Applications/iWork after the v5+ upgrade, I would recommend you revert to an old friend.
In v5, you insert the Text Box, then from the Format > Style > Fill, you choose Image Fill, Scale to Fit (or Fill), and then Choose.. to pick your image from disk. The Toolbar media choice will just plop an image over the top of your Text Box. Dragging and dropping an image over the Text Box places the image behind the Text Box. This can lead to an interesting crop effect.
If your image choice will be too dark to see the original black Text Box "Text" placeholder, then you may want to initially choose a lighter font before paragraph 2 above. Othewise, a double-click after the image fill will provide edit focus in the Text Box. A downside is that changing the opacity will effect the image and the text.

How To Display Current Page Name in Text Box Titles?

 I have a report which uses a page dimension. When I print out the report, it does display the page dimension member in plain text, near the beginning of the report. But I would like to incorporate the current page value in the formatted report title, a text box. The "MemberAlias" command, for example, looks like this: (( MemberAlias("GridName", Row/Col/Page, "DimName") ) ) (substituting the less-than, greater-than symbols for parentheisis just for this web forum) If I put a number in as the second element in the function, that hard-codes the report to print the page 1 value on each page of the printout. Unfortunately, Reports doesn't allow the "current" value in a text box. Is there a way to do this?

IOS 8 Text Box Jumping and Scrambling

Since I installed iOS 8, my iPad Air functions erratically in Safari. The problem is most evident in Facebook when accessed via Safari (I do not like and will not use the iPad Facebook app), but it may appear anywhere there is a text box for entering comments.
1. While typing in a text box, the iPad will suddenly flash for no apparent provocation and the cursor will jump to the start of the box, shoving previously typed text ahead of it.
2. After typing an entry into a text box and double-checking for accuracy, I hit "Return"... only to see that some of the letters are out of place. For example, what had been "White Plains, NY" may read "PWhite lNains, Y."
Alas, I cannot reproduce the problem at will. Its occurrence is frequent, but utterly random. I have tested for speed of typing, for use of shift key, for available memory (there is plenty) and anything else I can think of. In typing something no longer than this paragraph, I may find myself repositioning the cursor a dozen or more times.
I'm running iOS 8.1.3, but it has been a problem since the start of 8. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a fix?

I'm sorry to hear you have been having this issue with your iPad. I know how frustrating intermittent but persistent issues can be. If you continue to have unusual user interface (UI) issues, in particular issues with typing or text entry, you may want to make sure you have your data backed up to iTunes, then do a factory restore of your iPad (which should install a clean copy of the OS), then test in that default config if possible before restoring your data. How to Change the Text Box to LOV where the Text Box displayed dynamically

Hi All,
I have to Change the Text Box to LOV. But the Text Box is not the static one.
In the Expense Screen, when i select the particular expense type, additonal infomation is getting displayed.
There is a one additional field called 'Portfolio Code' . This is a text Box. I need to change this as LOV.
Even i am not sure how this is getting displyed. This column is mapped to attriubte14 of AP_EXPENSE_LINES_ALL table.

When I click on a link listed on a page, the current page is replaced by that link and the original link is lost. How do I fix it?

For example:
If I am at
http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsww/
and I click on
http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsww/Quakes/quakes_all.php
the original URL is replaced by the new on, and I must reenter the old URL to get back to it.

Open the link in a new tab by:
*right-click the link and choose "Open link in New Tab"
*Ctrl+left-click the link (to open in a new tab)
*middle-click the link (to open in a new tab) (middle-click = press the mouse wheel)
