Pages app will not complete install and cannot be deleted.

Pages app has been trying to install an update for a week.  It does not complete the install and cannot be deleted. I have tried logging in and out of the App Store to no avail. Does anyone know how to force a reinstall of an app, or at least delete it. It is an Apple Brand paid app with no &^%$% tech support.

I Do have the same problem. I will try to reinstall it from iTunes as soon as I will get to my computer

    Reset the device:
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
    If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
    You will have to re enter your Wi-Fi password.
    No data is lost due to a reset.

    If you can't update from the phone itself, please try updating the app on your computer and sync it from there.

    If you can't complete the download on your iOS device, you can download it in iTunes on your Mac or PC and then sync it to your iOS device. You can also transfer purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer.

    Several weeks ago I attempted to download Infinity Blade II for the iPad (I have the most recent full-size one, the "3").  As it began to download iTunes on my iPad crashed.  When I went back to the App Store to re-download, the app is marked as INSTALLING and the icon on the iPad is marked as waiting. 
    I have turned the iPad off, waited a few minutes, and turned it back on.  The icon remains.
    I attemped to delete the icon, but when I get all the apps to "shake", no "X" appears on the waiting app for me to delete it.
    I have signed out of iTunes on both my iPad and my MacBook Pro, signed back in, and still the download will not start.
    The only life I can get in the app actually loading is when I actually re-purchased the App from my laptop, then tried to add it to my laptop.  It "adds" it and the icon does Load, but about 90% in, the icon reverts to Installing, the status bar freezes...then the status bar blanks out completely and it remains in an Installing...state.  All I can do is go to iTunes on my laptop, "remove" the app (which keeps the app in a pending state), then try to add it again where it gets 90% done but never completes.
    I have also tried a different wireless network, reset my router, and reset the factory settings on my iPad.  Any other suggestions would be appreciated!

    Recently, the little blue progress bar (like for the intial install or update) appeared in the icon for a Chess app that had been downloaded for many months.  But I did not receive an update notice and had not accepted an update for that app.  The progress bar would not go away, and the app could not be accessed.  The bar would remain blank with the word Waiting for some time, then suddenly it would change to Installing and the blue bar would quickly go about half way across the icon, then it would go back to blank and say Waiting again, then after about 2 minutes a screen pop would come up saying the app was unable to download (cancel or retry).  I tried this several times, but it will not download.
    I deleted the app, went to the App Store and tried to re-install/download, but no success.
    Now a Vanguard (Financial) app has done the same thing.
    I powered my IPad 2 off, recycled my intenet connection, and looked for a software update on the IPad but it's up to date at this time.
    I went to the App Store and tried to download a new app, and I specifically chose one that was not free (to check my login/billing), and it will not download the new app either.  I was charged for the app, and received an email from ITunes confirming purchase and billing of the new app, but it has not installed on my machine.
    The odd thing is the Vanguard app was also installed on the wife's IPhone 4 (under a different Apple ID, but her Apple ID is also on the IPad for email purposes), and it doesn't work on her IPhone either (we had to delete it there too).
    Any ideas?

    Try update using iTune (computer) and sync to iPad.

    First of all - you are running the proper iOS in order to use the latest version of Pages - correct? You need iOS 6 now.
    If so ....See if this helps. Maybe Pages will open after you try this.
    Quit the Pages app completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
    Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
    Or ..... Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    If that didn't help backup and send your files into iTunes with file sharing.
    You could lose all of your files if you delete and reinstall the app. That is precisely why you should backup your iPad and send your files into iTunes using files sharing on the iPad. Do you backup or use file sharing?
    Backup your iPad, send the files from the iPad into iTunes using file sharing and then delete the app and reinstall it.

  • Kindle app stuck on "waiting" during an update. Will not install and cannot be deleted.

    Kindle app will not complete the installation process for the latest update (version 3.9.1). Icon is grayed out on home screen with "waiting" listed below it. No x appears when the other apps jiggle so I cannot delete it or uninstall. Have tried rebooting the phone multiple times with no changes. When syncing to computer, Kindle app status changes to "installing" but it remains frozen and grayed out. No problems with wireless connection. Other apps update fine and I have enough space in storage. This have been going on for over a week. Already talked to Amazon-Kindle and their only suggestion was to remove/uninstall the app, which I cannot do. When i search for the Kindle App in the App store, the status always says installing and is grayed out. Thanks for any help or tips!

    Adobe Acrobat package built with CCP will not completely install.  It starts out fine as if it is installing then suddenly disappears with no errors.   I am installing it under the local administrator account and simply double clicking on the setup.exe created in the build folder.  Am I missing something??

    I believe you are just double clicking on the Exception Deployer and not running the same from the command prompt . Mentioned below is the syntax that we need to use while using Exception Deployer on your machine(s).

    Hello Carolyn -  Thank you for your quick response to my concerns, I had already gone to the HP support site and tried to get the latest HP drivers, the site said for Lion 10.7 there was NA version.  So, I just used my time machine to replaced the OS from that time spot. I got my printers working again, so all right with the printer.  But, the fact remains that I still keep getting the New Update HP Printer in the software update window.  But, what happens if I try to download and install it is this:  It starts the download, everything seems to come down fine, it starts write the files and then starts moving items into place, the blue bar fills to all most the end and slows down to a stop and never completes the installation.  I have left my laptop on over night and it never finishes the operation.  I can only force quit the software update.  Which has knock out my printer drivers.  Now, I just keep unchecking the box in the software updates for new HP printer software.     iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support

    Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:

    The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

    What have you tried to get the app to finish downloading e.g. have you tried logging out and back into your account on your phone, disconnecting and reconnecting to your network, soft-reset of your phone (press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, ignore the red slider, after which the Apple logo should appear and it should reboot) ?
    You could also try downloading the update on your computer's iTunes and see if you can sync it over to your phone (or delete the app its Apps tab when connected to your computer's iTunes and sync the new version - deleting the app will delete its contents).

    Music, video and some other stuff are not in your backup.  They get synced to your iPod from your iTunes library as part of the update.  It appears that the music were not in your iTunes library.  You only get one download of music and it is up to your to back it up.  However, Apple has been known to allow a redownload.  You can contact the Itunes store and ask them.  Go here and select iTunes Account and Billing and select the appropriate topic.
