Pages being overbearing. Help required

Having just upgraded from Mountain Lion to Mavericks (10.9.2), I've come across a problem and wonder if anyone else is having the same issue.
I'm currently working in Libre Office on one aspect of a project. I opened Pages up for the first time since my upgrade and wanted to run the two aplications side-byside, as I would have done without a problem in Mountain Lion. However, in Mavericks I now get this message:
I didn't ask Pages to open the document; I want to open it in Libre Office, but it seems to think it suddenly has responsibility for all wordprecessing that goes on on my Mac. I've tried quitting Pages, still the same message. To get the two programs running side by side, or to open a Libre Office doc after Pages has quit, I need to right click and select "open with" and find Libre Office on the applications list. BIT OF A STEP BACKWARDS THERE, APPLE!
How do I solve this?

Hi John,
I followed your instructions and clicked "change all". Mac said there isn't enough information to change that setting and all 500 of the relevant Libre Office docs will need to be changed individually.
Unless there is a better solution.
Would there be a magical setting that could import 500 docs from Libre Office to Pages enmass?

Webpart gets deleted once I re-attach a page? :l Help required

So recently I've been tasked to edit a page that refers to the sharepoint layout but in order for me to do so I always need to detatch the page from the layout,after I've completed my changes I would try to re-attach that certain webpart , however;
it seems that sharepoint deletes that webpart and it has changed the positioning of my contents :l . What do I do inorder to solve this?

Depends on the change you have made.
Below is example when changes are done but webpart remains on page. If you have to reappy your layout, then webparts will get deleted

From then on it is not working.

I have a couple of articles for you that should help you troubleshoot your issue with Safari. First, you may want to try a reset on Safari by following the procedure listed in this article:

Is Rh the Best App for Managing 41 manuals, with many pages being the same?

I'd like to automate a labor intensive task that I will soon be assuming. We have 41 install manuals for an automotive accessory that fits 41 different models of vehicles. The current manual is 28 pages with at least 24 pages being identical. The documents are done in Word, along many pictures and drawings. When the document is finished, it is converted to a PDF and sent with the item. The pdf is also made available online for folks who may need the electronic version. When we change one page that is common to all, we have to manually update each Word file and then convert it. As you can imagine, the manuals don't get updated and corrected as often as they should
Since most of the pages are the same, I would like software that can manage changes to these pages and automatically update all manuals. For example, if a change is necessary on page 6 and 34 manuals use this page, I simply change one page and the software "exports" this new page to all affected manuals.
1) Would Rh do this?
2) Would it be the best choice for this task?
3) If Rh is the best choice for this, what is the best approach for beginning this task? Get a book and read or just jump in?
4) I came across a book written by a firm called GooberGuides, is this a good resource? Do you recommend a better one?
5) Does my project require a special technique when setting it up in an app like Rh or is the process fairly intuitive? I don't want to waste time by implementing this incorrectly, only to start over again when I realize there was a better way.
I would be very grateful for any guidance you could provide.

I don't think your questions were answered, except for the tool one, which is not the most important one. I would reverse your questions:
Does my project require a special technique? Yes! Single sourcing, which is a methodology for developing modular, reusable information, not a tool. Before you even approach a tool, you must analyze your content, define standards for it, define information types (Google for DITA), and convert it from linear (as your Word documents are) to modular.
I have not seen the GooberGuides book, but I can definitely offer these:

I have successfully installed all of my creative cloud apps with the exception being acrobat.
I cannot print from Indesign to PDF.
I have unistalled, reinstalled and still no Adobe Acrobat.
I now have to go back to Windows 8 and create the PDF's there.
Any one know how to get around this issue?

OSX has effectively killed the ability to print to pdf, (print to pdf eliminates most of the "Rich features" of current pdf).
Export from InDesign, always, excpet for the 1% of the time where you know why print to pdf would produce a better result.

Hi,
I am using Weblogic 6. I have created a new Web
Application called Web (I have not used the DefaultWebApp_myserver).
And I have the following settings:
Name : Web
URI : Web
and Path : C:\Web
and placed my JSP files under c:\Web\
I am able to access the first page, but after that I am not able to access the
second page.
I get "Error 404--Not Found" on the browser. Basically the class file is not getting
created under /Web-inf/_tmp_war_myserver_myserver_Web/jsp_servlet/ folder .
I tried a work around for this. I copied all my files under one more folder called
web and placed this under C:\Web
The it works. Now I have 2 copied off all the files, 1 copy under c:\web and another
copy under c:\web\web\.
If I have the files under DefaultWebApp_myserver and have the setting as
Name: DefaultWebApp_myserver
URI: DefaultWebApp_myserver
Path: .\config\mydomain\applications
everything works fine.
Can any one please let me know if there is any configuration which has to be done
so that I do not duplicate the code in 2 directories

How to keep track of the sequence of the BSP Pages being invoked.
I have a BSP Page A.htm. There are two other pages B.HTM and C.HTM in the same BSP Application.
The page B.HTM has a link A.HTM. The page C.HTM also has a link A.HTM. On clicking these links the Page A.HTM would be invoked. Is there any way to keep track which BSP Page (i.e B.HTM or C.HTM) invoked the page A.HTM.
Any input on this Regard would be of great help.

Declare in page attributes:
appl_url type string
In the onClick event of the link that calls the A.htm page , use:
call method runtime->get_url
receiving
URL = appl_url.
Now appl_url contains the url (also name) of the page that invoked A.htm .

You can use a helper method like this to retrieve the name of the page inside a custom action handler:
// Get the name of the current page from the current page's URI

if (pos >=0) thisPage = thisPage.substring(pos+1);

My wife and I have been dealing with a very similar issue with our iPhone 5ss, all battery drain issues started after the upgrade to ios 7.03. We have performed numerous restores and have had 3 trips to the Genius Bar. Finally they gave us new iPhones (yesterday). We had hoped this would do the trick but we have the same problem on the new phones.
This morning I restored one and didn't sign into iCloud. Battery drain is now gone. And when I deleted iCloud from my wife's phone it too went back to normal. So I believe the culprit is iCloud and I am now testing various setups with iCloud to determine which app/setting is causing the problem.
Hope this helps with your phones. I will post again if I can narrow it down to something specific.

You must put in the required information. If you do not have it, you must get it from the original owner of the phone. If you have forgotten your iCloud password, you can reset it at:
https://iforgot.apple.com/password/verify/appleid
There is no such thing as an activation "bypass". Activation Lock is a security feature. It wouldn't be that secure is you could bypass it, wouldn't it?

Urgent help required: Query regarding LC Variables

Hi All
Sometime earlier I was working on a performance issue raised by a customer. It was shell script that was taking almost 8-9 hrs to complete. During my research I came across a fact that there were some variables which were not set, the LC variables were impacting the sort funnel operations because of which the script was taking a long time to execute.
I asked them to export the following commands, after which the program went on smoothly and finished in a couple of mins:
export LC_COLLATE=en_US.ISO8859-1
export LC_MESSAGES=C
export LC_MONETARY=en_US.ISO8859-1
export LC_MONETARY=en_US.ISO8859-1
export HZ=100
export LC_CTYPE=en_US.ISO8859-1
export LANG=en_US.UTF-8
Later I did recover that setting the LC_COLLATE to C, is not helping and the program was again taking a lot of time. Few questions that I want to ask are:
1. Can someone please tell me, what each of these variable mean and how these values make a difference.
2. When I exported LC_COLLATE=en_US.ISO8859-1, it worked fine, but when i tried with the defalut value LC_COLLATE=C, then why the program didnt work.
As this issue is still going on, hence I would request All to provide their valuable inputs and let me know as much as possible.

Hi All
A new development in this regard. The customer has send us a screen shot in which they were trying to export the locale variable using the commands which I have pasted above. I can see in the screen shot that while exporting LC_COLLATE and LC_TYPE, they get a message that ""ksh: export: couldn't set locale correctly"".
Request everyone to please give their inputs as it's a bit urgent.

LC_CTYPE
Controls the behavior of character handling functions.
LC_TIME
Specifies date and time formats, including month names, days of the week, and common full and abbreviated representations.
LC_MONETARY
Specifies monetary formats, including the currency symbol for the locale, thousands separator, sign position, the number of fractional digits, and so forth.
LC_NUMERIC
Specifies the decimal delimiter (or radix character), the thousands separator, and the grouping.
LC_COLLATE
Specifies a collation order and regular expression definition for the locale.
LC_MESSAGES
Specifies the language in which the localized messages are written, and affirmative and negative responses of the locale (yes and no strings and expressions).
You can use command
# locale -k LC_CTYPE
to see more detail about each type.
