Pages bug: Superscript in table invisible when converting document to PDF

In the pages document, everything appears fine but when I export the documet as pdf, the superscript is no longer visible.
Also I notice the same bug with = and  _ characters occasionally.
I hope it can be fixed because I don't know how I am going to export my documents.
Edit: If I change font, same problem.
Thanks,
David

Michael's reponse is correct. However, as far as I knew, OFFICE 2007 came with printer metrics turned off, meaning it is not supposed to be sensitive to the printer selection. The setting is buried in the options list for compatibility. If it is turned off and a change in printer does affect the result, it would appear just one more of the many things in OFFICE 2007 that MS messed up. The latest one for me has been helping students with the messed up equation editor when you want to add equation numbers in a "standard" way. One of the MS employees even wrote a workaround macro for that problem.

  • Word 2003 crashes when converting to a PDF in Acrobat 9.3.1

OS                    :   Windows XP Pro SP3
    Acrobat Version:   Acrobat Pro 9.3.1.
    M.S. Product     :  Word 2003
Not every file will crash Word 2003 when converting to a PDF using Acrobat Pro 9.3.1 but this particular file and some others will produce the following error:
    %%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%
    %%[Page: 1]%%
    %%[ Error: syntaxerror; OffendingCommand: )  '$ $ $ &$   ]%%
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
The co-worker was receiving the same error in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.0 before we updated her to AAP 9.1.3.
I have read some other threads similar to mine but none of them answer the question well enough to try anything listed there.  My co-worker can email me the Word file and I can print the file to my Adobe PDF printer just fine.  I have Acrobat Pro 7.0.
Can anyone give me help on the cause and or solution to this problem????

    Hi,
    - syntaxerror indicates the file contains unintelligible PostScript code.
Any discussion of postscript errors, seem to consistently point to:

  • Hyperlink problem when converting Word to PDF

    Hi everyone.
I am using Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Standard version 7.1.4 on a Windows 2000 environment.
    I am using Word XP/2002 SP3.
I have a couple of problems when converting Word to PDF.
When converting a long link which is in 2 lines, PDF just takes one line into account, not considering the whole link
When I have hyperlinks that links to a web page, the link works fine in Word but in pdf, it gets the few words after the url address making the link not work.  For example.  I have a hyperlink that http://www.google.com/ and after this I have the words: "This is a sample text".  The hyperlink in pdf would then become http://www.google.comThisisasampletext
Do you have any ideas how I can correct this?
    Thanks.

To get the cross references, you have to use Convert to PDF (PDF Maker part of the Acrobat product). However, you first need to go to the print menu and set the printer to the Adobe PDF printer. Close the print menu and then do a reflow and link update of the document (ctrl-A, then F9 I think). This is needed to get the links correct since WORD reflows the document based on the printer (problem with them going to the wrong place).
Printing to the Adobe PDF printer (the step of print to file is not needed, just print to the printer and the rest is automatic) does not include the links. PDF Maker is a PreProcessor for the Adobe PDF printer that adds PDF Marks to the PS file before it is sent to Distiller (OK, the printer when used normally creates a PS file and then invokes Distiller to complete the process - your steps did with the Adobe PDF printer is the same process done manually).
    Summary:
    1. Fix document after setting the printer to Adobe PDF.
    2. Use PDF Maker (create PDF button)

    Thanks for your quick response.
I used the program you mentioned to download spool to PDF.The download file is like the link picture.
And the form will not overlap when I print it immediately. But it will overlap the first line when preview or convert to PDF. My user don't want to print it immediately they want to save it to PDF.
I know maybe there is something wrong with the format, I tryed retype the text but it didn't works.

When converting word to PDF and reducing the size, the formatting changes how can i keep the format but reduce the size?

The original file is 32 MB:
    15 MB is images
    15 MB is Content stream
    2 MB is everything else
    After the PDF/A-1B save as:
    The file is 182 MB
    Almost 100% is Images
It is an architecture portfolio with many complex images.  Is there a setting when I change to PDF/A that can limit the growth of the image files?

  • Problem with page size when converting spool to PDF

I have a SmartForm invoice which is formatted perfectly when I print it using the printer options specified when I open the form. However, when I send the output to spool, convert it to PDF using FM CONVERT_OTFSPOOLJOB_2_PDF, then print to the same printer, the format is not correct.
The PDF generation feature treats the page (standard letter size, portrait) as too large and shrinks the output to fit the page. It scales the entire invoice down by about 1/4 inch, which throws off our mailing envelope.  If I change the page scaling option of Adobe Reader to 'None', my invoice is scrunched up into the top left corner of the page.
My page format is LETTER Portrait.
Any help or suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.

  • Page Size when converting .docx to pdf

I am having an issue converting .docx to pdf. I am using a custom page size in word 2007 and saving it, but when i convert to pdf it uses the default 8"/11" format. I have seen it done, but can't get it to work consistently. I am using acrobat 8 pro. Can anyone help?

What OS? Have you tried to make a custom page size for the Acrobat PDF printer drive?

  • Adjust page boundary when converting eps to pdf

Hi, I have a problem with the page boundaries when converting eps files to pdf files. The resulting pdf page boundary is the bare minimum around the eps objects, leading to different page sizes when the pdf is viewed on screen. I would like all of my pdf objects to have the standard letter (8.5 by 11 inch) page boundary. Furthermore, when the pdf is printed the size of the objects is not to to the same scale as the eps file (which was created in adobe illustrator), and the orientation of the picture is often rotated to what is displayed on the eps or pdf file! Can anybody help me with this problem?

I opened Distiller from the regular programs menu. I have a job settings file selected that has a 8.5X11 size. I opened a 5.5X7.5 EPS file in Distiller and it creates a PDF with the image at the bottom of the 8.5X11 page. You can also simply open the PDF that you already have and print to a new PDF -- selecting expand to fit if desired.

  • Page Size When Converting TIFF to PDF

In my work I download documents from a website where you can only view and save them as TIFF images. The documents are scanned images of typewritten instruments filed with the county clerk. When saved as TIFFs, the documents are of varying sizes. After I save them as TIFF files, I convert to pdf using select (often multiple files at once), then right click "Convert to Adobe PDF." The files convert to pdf without a problem, except they are of many different page sizes, depending upon the size of the TIFF file.
I am using Adobe Acrobat X Standard (Windows 7 on a PC). Is there a way to set it up so when I convert from TIFF to pdf, it will come out as a standard page size, such as legal 8.5x14? I know that I can convert, then print using the Adobe PDF printer, but that just adds another step.
Would the answer be different if I were using Acrobat X Pro or Acrobat XI? Thanks.

TIFF files contain a page size, and when converted to PDFs, the page size from the TIFF is used.
So you need to fix it in the TIFF before conversion or the PDF after conversion. I think the TIFF will probably be a better, easier and cheaper place to fix it.

  • When converting word to pdf, why does it pdf each page?

I have a 3 page word document.  When I convert it to pdf, it converts each page & not the whole document.  Why does it do that & how can i convert all 3 pages to pdf?

Empty the TEMP folder or print to the Adobe PDF printer. The latter might be worth trying to be sure things are working.
You may have to uncheck a lot of the options in the PDF Maker preferences, particularly tags. Keep in mind that large graphics require a lot of disk space in the translation as the PS format is not very memory efficient for graphics (at least from what I have seen). You might also make a copy of the DOC file and then select a graphic and choose format. In the lower left corner of the general tab is a compress button. Try that to reduce the graphics resolution and see if that solves the problem.

  • Preview Problem when converting .jpg to .pdf

My scanner isn't producing sharp enough images, so I am:
    1. Saving the 300 dpi scanned file in .jpg format
    2. Opening the .jpg file in Preview.
    3. Sharpening the image.
    4. Saving the .jpg file as a .pdf file.
But Preview saves the .pdf file with huge dimensions (as though it had been scanned at 72 dpi instead of 300 dpi). So when I open the file in Acrobat, to OCR it, Acrobat thinks the file is huge (over 30" wide and over 40" tall) and the OCR chokes with a message that the page dimensions are too big. Obviously I could simply resave the sharpened .jpg file in .jpg format, and use Acrobat to convert it to PDF, which gives it the correct page dimensions. But the sharpened .pdf file looks better on screen when created by Preview. Is there any way to convert the .jpg file to .pdf within Preview which will keep the correct page size information? (Or, as a last resort, is there a Mac utility which will resize PDF dimensions?)

Hi Bruce, and a warm welcome to the forums!
You can create a Colorsync Filter to save a PDF/x-3 at your chosen resolution...

  • Font changes when converting MSWord to PDF

Sometimes when I convert a MSWord documents to a PDF, the font changes slightly on pages where there Figures.  The font appears to be in bold.
How can I convert to a PDF and achieve a uniform look for the font throughout my documents?
I used MS Word 2007 and Adobe Acrobat XI.

Are the fonts graphics or actual vector fonts? It may be that you are using a bitmap font also. If it is a true vector font, then there should be no pixel issues.
