Pages crashes or not responding

I use Pages importing doc and docx files, editing and saving them back and forth between Pages and Word formats. My issue is that Pages crashes frequently (spinning wheel of death) and I must force quit and restart sometimes 2 or 3 times a day. What is going on with this program? I have a MacBook, the current OS, about 120 G of free hard disk space, 2M RAM and use a portable drive for most of the work I do. The files I develop are primarily text files with minimum graphics.

How much RAM is Free (green in the pie chart of Activity Monitor)? Check it just after a restart of the computer and again during typical daily operation with all apps that you normally use running, and a typical Pages document being edited. If the green slice of the pie ever gets to less than 25%, you're a candidate for more RAM.

Unfortunately, most of my advice is in the "hindsight is 20-20" category.
First off, I would never have purchased the peripheral accessories until the 14 day return period had expired. Second, you learned the hard way what the "14 days" really means.
Too bad you didn't do any homework, reading this and other forums and tech sites. Even word of mouth from others. That, more than anything could have steered you towards different phone choices from the get-go and I will leave that there with no further comment other than to say most of the issues you described have been discussed in this forum, ad nauseam.
Once you got into the refurbished phone exchanges, that is where things really went haywire. What someone tells you over the phone is a sketchy proposition, and when it comes down to it, it's your word against theirs.
I think Verizon tried to make it right, though. Remember, they don't make the phones. Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.
You stated yourself you were a satisfied Verizon customer before this. Had the first two phones performed as they should, you would still be a satisfied Verizon customer.
Doubt any of that will make you any happier, but after you went through the effort of writing such a long post, I thought I'd try.

Firefox4 keeps haning on first page , and shown not responding at top of page.had to install 3.6.16 to get firefox to work.(no virusses/mall/adware etc. found, amd explorer worked fine) how can i get ff4 to work properly again (like it did for two weeks)

Pages 5.1 not responding after updated from AppStore

I've update my Pages app to v.5.1 in my MacBook Pro and I can't open it after updated. When I open it, it still not responding all time. I've replace Pages app with older version and it can open but I can't open my newer version document that I've edited on New iMac. Anybody can help me? I have to use an iCloud beta now. Thank you

In Pages 5 .plists are now stored within the application bundle.
I will resist telling you to trash any because I am not sure if there are consequences doing so. With Pages '09 it was fine, but they weren't part of the application.
You can validate fonts in Font Book:
select all the fonts > Menu > File > Validate Fonts > turn off or remove those that report errors etc
Also try starting PAges holding down the shift key in case it is simply a damaged Pages file.

Everytime I use the firefox browser it will freeze up when refreshing a page or changing to another page saying program not responding. This is getting really annoying, is there anyway to fix this problem?

Everytime I check my email and switch websites the program will become unresponsive and freeze, then it will say "Not Responding". After waiting a while it will work again but with it freezing up for every time a page changes or refreshes it's a waste of time for me to use this browser.

Safari can't open page as server not responding

I have a 2 iPhone 5s n 1 iPad Air sharing the home router with a few other computers at home. The iPhone and ipad always have problem opening page using safari. Same thing for browsing video using YouTube app. It's just not responding. Other applications such as whatsapp facebook work fine though. Even chrome application works too. Just not safari and YouTube so far. I have tried resetting network setting, clear history and cookies. It didn't work. It should not be the router issue as other application works. Can anyone help me with this? It's very annoying.

Depending on the server software used for the downloads it may be using up all of your bandwidth leaving little for Safari.
Use the Safari Activity window to see how the page elements load while your download is occurring.
If you see "timed out" messages then you're going to have troubles.

Pages "Freezes" Application Not Responding...

Hi everyone, hopefully you can help me out here..
I am using Pages 2006. and Every-time i open it up and click anything.. like open an existing file or help or about pages... it freezes on me.. "Application not responding" and I have to force quit every-time!
I have done a virus scan, restarted my computer a bagillion times, and have reinstalled the application. My project is due in a few days and I cant get the thing working!!
Someone help!!! what do i do??

Try quitting Pages and deleting the .plist file. Go to HD > Users (your account) > Library > Preferences, and move the com.apple.iWork.Pages.plist to the Trash, empty the Trash and restart Pages.

Adobe Acrobat Pro DC keeps crashing with "Not Responding" message

Hi there, I just started using Adobe Acrobat Pro DC and it keeps crashing with a "not responding" message. It never used to happen with acrobat XI. Any ideas?
I'm using Windows 8.1 on an Acer with AMD A10-5700 APU 64bit OS...

Does this happen while accessing any PDF ' or when you launch Acrobat ?
You could try repairing Acrobat and see if that helps .
Is there any error number or exit code associated with the error message ?If yes ,please share the screen shot of the same.

After effects crashing and not responding

After effects is crashing when I try to import my AI file. Its also not responding when illustrator is open. I dont know why. Never had this happen before. Im getting this message also " AE error: could not parse mask shape on clipboard??? Then unable to execute script at line 51?
What should I do?
Should I reinstall? If so how do I do that?

The Ai file has about 25 layers but its not that large. When I look in finder its only 13 mbs but illustrator seemed to be really slow also??
I dont get whats happening. I have spent hours and hours creating this work in illustrator and now I cannot import in AE. Its just says not responding!! What should I do?

Skype keeps crashing - showing 'not responding' all of the time! 7.2

everytime i open skype it crashes and stops responding. it works for a short while then crashes repeatedly. i have tried deleting and reinstalling, i have tried resetting skype settings, i have checked to make sure it isnt in debug mode....I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!!

Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Pages Constantly Freezing (Not Responding) with Lion

The Problem
I use Pages constantly for work, and have for the last two years. It has always had speed issues, and occasional crashes, but after upgrading to Lion, the application has become almost entirely unusable. The problem appears to be related to saving. The application freezes (at least once an hour and frequently as often as once every 10 minutes). I am forced to switch to the Finder and Force Quit. I've re-installed Lion (to fix an OS instability issue) and that didn't help. I also recently re-installed Pages (I used a 3rd party app to totally uninstall the application), and the re-installed version has the exact same issues.
When it Happens
Often Pages freezes when I switch to another application and return. Often it freezes when selecting Save a Version from the file menu. Sometimes it just freezes while I'm working. I don't want to start a discussion about the pros and cons of versions and templates, I really just want Pages to stop freezing up. If I can't do this, I will either have to downgrade to Snowleopard or find another word processor (which I really don't want to do). I've lost a tremendous amount of work related to this issue. I never lost work under Snowleopard.
Preferences
I have unchecked "Back up previous version when saving" and "Save new documents as packages" (the latter being problematic with the version control in Dropbox). I am using a MacBook Pro 17" 2.6GHz Core i7 with 8GB RAM. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm not sure this is a Pages issue. You've said you've had to reinstall Lion to fix instability issues. Have these issues really been fixed? Are you having issues with other apps?
I also would not use a third-party program to uninstall Pages. This is just a generic uninstaller and may not uninstall unique files that only Pages creates.
My suggestion would be to:
Create a new user account and run Pages from there. Do the same problems occur? If not, move your data to a new user account and delete the existing user account that has problems.
Make sure there's not a permissions issue on your Mac by Fixing Permissions with Disk Utility (you've probably already done this, but thought I'd mention it just in case)
Delete iWork's font cache:
Macintosh HD/Users/YourName/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWork.fonts
Completely uninstall Pages:
Go to https://public.me.com/koenigyvan
Choose For iWork > iWork '09 > uninstall iWork '09.zip
Download uninstall iWork '09.zip, decompress it, open it in AppleScript Editor and click the Run button
Reinstall and update Pages

Mac 10.5.8 browsers crashing – applications not responding

Hello,
I'm having big problems with my Mac 10.5.8. I tried verifying the disk on Disk Utliity but no errors showed up.
Basically, my browsers (Safari, Firefox, Google Chrome) crash as soon as they are opened. Some other application stop responding as I'm using them and I have to force quit. The computer as a whole is very very slow to respond.
If anyone has any advice I would really appreciate it. I need this computer for work.

I am having the same problem. It's been happening for several months. Firefox, Safari and Chrome all crash. I've avoided updating them and in fact went back a couple versions in Firefox, but no change. I can be working on Firefox for an hour or for 30 seconds. Either way, it just crashes. I can immediately restart it, and it will work for an hour or 30 seconds.
No visible pattern, and it is not website specific.
I am running a MacBook with 10.5.8 2.1 GHz Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 667 MHz
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Opening Ai files: Slow, crashing, and not responding

I started creating an interactive web graphic in illustrator, making sure to rasterize and use symbols as much as possible to make the file smaller for importation to flash catalyst. However, when I tried to open a new project from the illustrator file in flash catalyst, it said there was a memory/java related error. I closed Fc and tired again. Unfortunately, now I can't give the specifics of the errors because the program stops responding whenever I try to open anything - not even getting far enough to give the error report again.
When I reopen Fc, a project recovery box pops up, saying that my project has been recovered. When click OK, view the recovered file, i see the blank workbench, with my illustrator project's layers listed in the layer's panel. But the page never stops loading (the rainbow wheel on my mac doesn't go away no matter now long i wait), the program stops responding, and i have to 'force quit'
I can't find any similar problems on this or other forums.
Any suggestions?

Try to revisit your AI file and see specially for following:
01) Have you scaled text just by dragging bounding box of text....if you have more text, more outlines will cause generation of more paths, which will require FC to handle more paths....you may check this by saving a copy of your AI file in FXG file format with FXG Save Option "Save Illustrator Private Data: turned off" and import FXG file back in AI and see in layers panel
02) Are you using heavy images like 300 PPI or so

Just recently, my 'Numbers' and 'Pages' programs will not respond. I can click on it, but I can't type anything into the cells, or use the keyboard.

I am unable to type into Pages and Numbers for some reason. I can open them up, but I can't right click. I am using a bluetooth keyboard, on a macbook pro 2007 / 2.4 ghz A1226. I have restarted the computer, repaired disck permissions, done a software update, searched endlessly through the options and preferences to try and see if I may have locked it. I don't have a num lock on my keyboard. Any suggestions?

I must have inadvertantly hit a 'command + enter' button and/or another combination of keys. What set the text edit back into motion, and allowed me to begin typing again was hitting 'command + delete.' (It may have been command + enter, but I started typing again after hitting command + delete.)
I have tried to recreate the conditons again but have been unsuccessful. I was experiencing the same issue in keynote as well. When I accomplished the command in pages and unlocked it using the instrutions above, all of iWork returned to normal functionality.
