Pages: creating folders within folders

Using Pages in iWork on a MacBook (system 10.9.4), is it possible to create folders within folders? Dragging one document  and dropping it on another one isn't working within a folder.

That is an iOS method, not an OSX method.
command shift n creates a new folder in Finder or in a Save dialog, then move or save the file into that folder.

  • Does Pages have the facility to create folders within folders?

Having the ability to do this would encourage me to change from Microsoft word to Pages. Is it possible?

In Pages for OS X, you can't create folders within folders if you are using iCloud to store your documents, but you can do this if you are storing them on your hard disk.
In Pages for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, you can't create folders within folders, so you are free to switch if you need this feature. Note that Office is only available for the iPhone if you are an Office 365 subscriber

  • Can I create folders within iWorks applications?

How do you create folders within Pages or Number? I want to file documents locally by category.

I'm certain you're aware of this already - if not, the new update (version 1.4) allows creation of folders within Pages, allowing you to group relevant documents to your own specification. Hope it helps (...sure has for me!)

Can I create folders in pages app?

Yes. While in thumbnail documents view yoy can hold down on a document icon until all icons wiggle. Drag one document on top of another one to creat the folder. Or tap the Edit button to get the icons to wiggle, Tap done when you are finished.

  • How do I or can I create folders within email on ipad2?

Can anyone help me....am trying to create folders within email...I know iPhone users can do it, so assume iPad can too? Help.

You have to have an IMAP email account in order to create folders in the mail app on the iPad.
If you have an IMAP account, tap on the email account and in the window that shows your InBox, Sent Folder, Trash Folder, etc, there will be an Edit button at the top. Tap that button and a "New MailBox" button will appear at the bottom of the window. Tap that to create a new folder.

  • How do you delete folders in word? I made some folders but did not realize I had created them within another folder. Also, how do you create folders correctly?

    Hi Aristotle222,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
Files and folders are created by the Macintosh OS, not a specific application.
The link below will explain how to create folders and subfolders, and organize your data using Finder.

  • Is there a way to create folders in the pictures app?

Since I got my Playbook I've been very impressed with the camera quality, way better than my phones 1.3. So I've been taking a lot of pictures. I have taken a lot of my car because I'm making a website for it and want a lot of pictures of it, I take some random ones just for the fun of it, and in school my friends take pictures of themselves with it (it blows the ipad 2's camera quality away) I'd like to put them in separate folders in the pictiures app so that way I don't have to go through all of them and if people want to see the pics they took in school they don't have to go through all of the ones of my stuff on there. I know there is automatically a folder for downloaded pictures, and another for wallpaper like if you got a wallpaper app and download pictures from it. All of my pictures I've taken are in the "camera pictures" folder, so is there a way I can create folders in the app and organize them?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If you create the folders as a child within the main pictures folder, then they will show up in the app separately. I have many folders with pictures in.
You will need to move the photos manually - they will automatically go in the Camera folder.
    Hope that helps.

  • How to make metadata fields required when creating folders

    Hello all....
Related issue with SR 3-6472229431 and SR 3-6471130611.
We're using DIS 11.1.6 64-bits (2011_11_29 (rev 9756) 11.1.6.97) in a Windows 7 64-bits workstation (with UCM 11.1.1.5 in a Linux machine). The check-in of images to UCM goes fine.
I'm trying to make some metadata fields required when creating a folder. These fields are required when making a check-in, but not when creating folders.
    Folders_g is enabled. DesktopTag too.
    EDIT: Patch: 14695303 - WCC 11.1.1.5.0 BUNDLE ( MLR 16 ) NOV 6 2012 applied.
    Is it possible?
    Thanks for all.

After reading your response and rereading the original question a bit closer, the metadata prompting feature does not apply to creating new folders, only content.
Again, though, I think the focus here is in the wrong place. The metadata applied to a folder is intended to be ultimately applied to the content. You can build global rules that fire on submission of content to check if a field has a value, and throw an error if the value is empty.
If you expect users to create folders (and actually apply any metadata to the actual folder itself), you will be disappointed. Experience shows that users are not interested in that level of detail when creating content, let alone folders. Letting typical users create folders is a bad idea anyway, as they tend to create the same inefficient folder structures they previously created in file shares within Content Server.
If you need to tightly control folder attributes, you'll be better served by locking down the ability to create new folders. Otherwise you're looking at some type of customization. Keep in mind that you won't be able to customize the right click behavior of DIS. Any changes to DIS would have to be an enhancement request.

  • How do you create folders in your email?

I want to organize my email but I can't figure out how to create folders on my iPhone.

The manual for iPhones running iOS 8 contains the following:
Organize your mail with mailboxes. Tap Edit in the Mailboxes list to create a new one, or to rename or delete one. (Some built-in mailboxes can’t be changed.) There are several smart mailboxes, such as Unread, that show messages from all your accounts. Tap the ones you want to use.
This is on page 58. For the manual itself, visit http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1565/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf .

  • How do you create folders in photo's

In an IPOD4 (or IPhone for that matter) how do you create folders within Photo's to segregate your pictures in to meanigfull collections, rather than just random bunches.
    Thanks

Bummer - seems like wasted effort - to move all the photo's to a computer, delete then from the IPOD/IPHONE,  organize them, and then move back to IPOD/IPHONE. Oh well, is what it is.
    Thanks

  • Creating folders in playlists for burning to CD

    Hi
Is it possible to create folders within a playlist for burning cd's with about 8 albums on in mp3 format so that it is easier to direct access a particular album on the disc rather than start at track 1 & keep skiping until you reach say the 5th album which will be about track 60 & so on & so on, I have no problems burning the files to disc but like ive explained it just shows as about 160 tracks but no individual folders for each album
    many thanks

  • Creating Folders in Mail Client

I've been using Apple's Mail client for 5 years now and have my Gmail, Mobileme, and work email set up. I have had no problem creating folders (mailboxes) within these accounts. I recently added another email address which was set up through godaddy.com. When I go to create a new folder (mailbox) I am not able to select that account in which to create the new folder. I can select from any of the other accounts or just create the folder on my mac (which I don't do for obvious mobility reasons). Little help?

you can only create mailboxes in IMAP accounts. if this account is POP then you can not add mailboxes to it. POP only downloads yoiur mail from the server and you can not put any messages back on the server with a POP account so a server side mailbox in a POP account is impossible to make.

  • Create folders for other users

I have a process that automatically generates folders based on events in the database using Advanced Queues. This process will work if I am creating folders for the user I am currently connected as.
What I can't seem to do is use the system admin account to create folders in other users home folders. I get insufficient privilege errors when I use findPublicObject to return the users home directory. This seems to happen because the users home folder has a private ACL, it works if I make the home folder public but I don't really want to do that.
Does anyone have a solution for this?

    Sure, here are two suggestions.
    1. If you want to create the folders in response to the AQ messages, and you want to do so independently of your application's normal security policies, you can use the system admin user to perform the operations, as long as you enable administration mode. Use LibrarySession.setAdministrationMode(true) to do this. Security will be bypassed until you turn this mode off.
    2. If you want to make the changes within the concept of your application security model, then modify the model so that your system admin user has access to everything that it needs to be able to update or delete. You can do this by modifying the ACLs on the objects in question.

  • Is there a DIAdem Script command that can automatically create folders/directories in Windows?

    Hi there!
I need to automatically create folders/directories in the Windows file system? Is there a DIAdem Script command to do this (like the way you do it in DOS/Unix or even Matlab (mkdir command)? Thanks!

    Hi,
there are two ways to create folders within a DIAdem script:
    Call FolderCreate("d:\New Folder")
    Dim fso
    Set fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
    Call fso.CreateFolder("d:\New Folder 2")

  • Create folders in iCloud

I use Notes on iPad and want to store my documents in folders so I can easily find them. How do I create folders in the Notes program and have that stored in iCloud?

I have my regular Notes folder and one under it called "Other."  Then I have three sub-folders under "Other" because it doesn't let me create another one on the same level as Other.  On my iPad, they all look like they're on the same level instead of nested underneath.
I did it on the Mail page of icloud.com on Windows.  I don't remember how I first created the Other folder, because it was a long time ago, but I think I just clicked the + when Notes was highlighted, or I might have dragged it under Notes, but I don't remember. :-)
