Pages docs no longer open when I've exported them as pdfs

Here's a bizarre one...
We create our invoices in Pages, export them to pdfs then e-mail them to clients. Usually, the previous month's Pages doc provides the template for the next. But now I can't open many (not all...) of the old Pages docs that I've exported as .pdfs.
Anyone have any idea why it's happening?

I have the same problem, but when I tried to sync the iPad (iOS5.1.1) with my purchased Pages app to re-install it, what I saw was the original app icon; what I got was the new Pages 2 icon, which only works with iOS7 and above. So is there no support from Apple for legacy versions of apps?

Hard drive is USB connected to Extreme.

Reboot the USB drive.. assuming it is powered.. or unplug and replug a self-powered drive.. (you should not use self-powered drives on AE before the latest model.. always use a powered hub).
Does the drive now appear in finder..
If not reboot both drive and the AE.. it should now appear.
If it doesn't work with direct connection try a powered hub.. that can help.

Pages app unexpectedly quit whilst I was in the middle of a document. I can now not open it AT ALL. I find it's not just that particular document that won't open, but any of my Pages docs will not open using the current version of Pages. Any help?

The reports of the app unexpectedly closing each time, automatically went to Apple, but I am not sure what happens with them then. Does anyone know how to help me with this? We live in a very isolated region so rely on internet help. Thanks

I also managed to read a few other discussions about Pages and files not being able to open. I actually went to the last back-up and restored the computer from that and everything seemed to work ok again, which is great!...advice from another discussion I think you may have been involved in PeterB. Thanks for the advice...also this advice, as I will make a note of trying to open using the Shift key if it happens again and see what happens...might be an easier first option than restoring from a back-up. Thans heaps for the help!
I was interested to read some of the other discussions where it was stated that Pages '09 seems to be a better option to use. I have both installed, so I will lkeep this in mind. Thanks heaps!

When I open a PDF page that has links they do not open when I click on them

When I open a PDF page in Firefox 4.0 that has links, the links will not open when I click on them. If I try that in Safari, or when I had the earlier versions of FF, I had no problem. Is this just a setting issue?

That is a limitation of iOS. They will view correctly when you view them in Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat.

E-mail messages will no longer open when highlighted

My e-mail messages used to open automatically when I highlighted one without double clicking on it. After I received a "pass-it on" e-mail today which wanted me to pass it on to my entire address book, which I did not wish to do, the in-coming e-mail messages would no longer open when each is highlighted. I now have to double click on the message.

It may just be a coincidence and you have inadvertently closed your message panel? If that is the case, doubleclick on the small dimple at the bottom center of your Mail window.

My photos won't open when I click on them,

My photos used to open when i clicked on them, for some reason they now wont open, I have to highlight them and press return, does anyone have any idea what has happenned recently that could have caused this, update maybe, has anyone else got the same problem?

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes). 
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]] 
 
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears. 
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions. 
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

Adobe also has Acrobat.com and there is DropBox.com. Adobe has also announced Adobe Document Cloud.
Forms central provide a subscription service for users with Reader to create simple forms. Apparently this did not meet a majority of users and with the minimal price difference for Acrobat and free web storage the users were better served without it. I expect cloud services will continue to emerge until providers better and more fully understand the user requirements.

Numbers doc no longer opens

A Numbers spreadsheet that I use regularly no longer opens. It's kept on my iDisk and I have been opening and adding to it on a daily basis for a couple of years now, but now all I get is a message saying The document "name.numbers" could not be opened. I've downloaded it to the desktop incase it was a server issue but no difference. I can't even open it in any other software (Excell, Pages, Word, Text Edit etc.) as they don't even recognise it now. This is a very important document and I need to access it - any pointers?

It seems that your document is corrupted.
If you use your program the correct way, you have a backup allowing you to recover most of the datas.
If you choose to live dangerously, you don't have a backup and we may guess that the datas are lost for ever.

Not sure if that can be done but you can press the Expose key which will show all open windows.

Plz: How automatically reopen upon re-start all docs i had open when i shut down?

I want to be able to shut down mac with documents open (which i was working on) and have them all re-open when i re-start my mac.
Surely this is a common problem solved long ago.
I can do that with my browsers, as they reopen all the websites i had open when i shut down.
I need same with my documents.
I don't want to have to remember which ones i had open, and search for and click to reopen each one.
Sometimes i leave my computer on for days because of this problem that i don't want to shut down then have to rethink to reopen all i was working on.

My Finder window no longer opens when I click on it. What do I need to change?

My finder window in my dock used to open when I clicked on it. Now it does nothing when I click on it and I have to right click and select New Finder Window to be able to see the contents of my computer. What setting do I need to change to get back to click and open?

Tried this (thanks) but the Finder is listed twice in the Force quit box and each time I select Relaunch both windows just reappear and I still can't click on the Finder icon in the dock and get it to open!

Pages docs no longer seem to sync and update in iCloud. My iPad and Mac still do, just not my iPhone.

My Pages docs used to update and synch through iCloud but do not seem to anymore. My iPad and MACs are fine. I have data settings turned out for Pages.

Go to Settings>iCloud on your phone and make sure Documents & Data is set to on, and that Pages is set to on. Then go to Settings>Pages and make sure Pages is turned on.
If they are turned on, try turning them off, then back on.
