Pages document jumps down when typing.

Hi everyone.
Ok, I'm working on a Pages document modified from one of the templates and trying to add in/edit text in the middle of the second page (which is basically one big text box containing a few placeholder images set for wrap-around text.) But, for some reason, the document jumps down to the bottom of page 2/top of page 3 when I start typing. It's accepting what I type but I can't see it as it's added and it's driving me nuts.
I've fiddled with the settings as much as I dare, been through the online manual and searched the discussion topics but can't find anything on this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just to add in one thing:
I've worked out why it jumps down. It's simply showing the end of the block of text in that text box - which I should probably have worked out straight away. Sorry! Obviously that's not a problem when you're adding on to the end of what you've written, but if the box is bigger than the window the document's open in it can be.
So one possible solution is to split the one big box into smaller ones so they each fit within the window. I've tried that, and it works, but it's a bit of a pain if you've got a long passage to type without obvious places to break it up. So does anyone know of any way to stop Pages doing this?

Also you might want to check your keyboard - may sound a bit silly, but I tried that myself on a friends laptop and we found a tiny bit of metal under the left arrow key.

HT4356 How do you conver a Page document to PDF when there is no printer available

I purchased a $400 printer last year..now I cannot use it with my IPAD3 because it has to be an Air Print printer.
I need to convert my Page document to PDF and the only way to do that is to go to Print a document...but, when
I get there it tells me that I don't have a printer...Therefore, I cannot get to PDF conversion...
I thought Apple have an incredible group of smart software engineers ...what happened?
Now, I have to go and buy another $400 printer to be able to convert a document to PDF?
I bought this IPAD3 for my wife since she is not a computer expert but, so far I see that this is a product more compicated than a personal computer.
The hardware is great but, so far my wife has a hard time to use the Apps I got for this IPAD...I'm a software programmer working for a major computer company and I also have a hard time trying to get these functions to work...

Under "Share and Print", tap "Email Document", then choose PDF. Alternately, tap "Sent to iTunes", "Copy to iDisk", or "Copy to WebDAV" and then choose PDF...

[SOLVED] aterm and auto-scroll-down when typing

I've been using aterm for a while now, and before that urxvt.
What bothers me about aterm that I was very used to in urxvt was that, when you have scrolled up a bit, it doesn't jump to the bottom when you start typing.
Is there any way for aterm to behave like this?
Solved: I just found out about the scrollTtyOutput and scrollTtyKeypress options for .Xdefaults

Why does only 1 page out of my three page document show up when i try to print on pages?

when I try to print my 3 page document, it only shows and prints the second page. Also, when i saved it as a pdf and on preview, it did the same thing. I also tried to copy the first and last pages onto a new document, they showed up as blank. HELP!

What version of OS X? (Apple menu, first item)

N8: SMS client shuts down when typing "certain" l...

Some users in the italian forum are experiencing shuts down of he SMS "client "when typing not better identified letters . Furthermore, after this, the keyboard sometimes starts typing wrong letters ( ex. press "A" and get "E").
Some similar experience and what's important any explanation?

I've experienced this bug few times myself. Usually restart solves the problem. Annoying though.

Windows jumping down when trying to resize them ?

Occasionally (even after a reboot) I get a very annoying phenomena in which when I click the resize corner at the lower right a window, the entire window instantly jumps down (while staying the same size) about 1/3 of the way on the screen. The mouse cursor itself also jumps down so that it is still catching the resizing corner.
It's exceedingly bothersome and happens not infrequently -- any ideas what may be causing this or how to solve it?

Try removing the file com.apple.systemuiserver from the folder ~/Library/Preferences.

when typing the cursor disapears and i have to click on it to reactivte it in the text box. Drvining me crazy. This just started. even typing this is making me crazy. And now I notice can not do drop down below. It locked up. I have os x 10.8.3

From the menu bar, select
Edit ▹ Substitutions
and uncheck Text Replacement.

My cursor keeps going off the page on the left when typing. How do i indent to permanently see the whole writing?

When typing i hit the enter button and the cursor goes off the page on the left and it takes two spaces or letters before wording reappears; of course the first two letters of each word is missing. Only way to read correctly is to put two spaces before each line

Are you zooming the page?
You may have zoomed the page(s) by accident.
Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems.

Did you make changes to the default font settings?
If you have made changes to Advanced font settings like increasing the minimum/default font size then try the default minimum setting "none" and the default font size 16 in case the current setting is causing problems.
*Edit > Preferences > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own fonts.
*Edit > Preferences > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced: [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"

In fullscreen mode, is there a way to prevent the page from shifting down when displaying the menu and tabs?

In fullscreen mode (F11), when moving the mouse toward the top of the screen to display the tabs & stuff, the page displayed is shifted down. This makes it annoying when returning down with the mouse - you want to reach a certain link, for example, but your target gets shifted up once the tabs & stuff is hidden back.
Is there any way to make the tabs & stuff display 'above' the page content, like on another layer?

Is it the web page display that is changing its own position, or is it something
about the toolbars that is pushing the page down? I have the same issue with
my browser using an add-on to show a multiple line bookmark bar.

Cursor jumps unprompted when typing to previous line of text or text box

Recently I have been experiencing this phenomenom:
When I am tying in Word or an email (Gmail) my cursor will ocassionally and unexpectedly jump to a line of text a few lines above where I am typing or in some cases a previous text box (in the case of Gmail).
Anyone have an idea what the cause/fix is? I called Apple support and they didn't want to diagnose over the phone, assuming a software issue that would not be covered by my call-in period.

Same problem same system. Is your model a 17"? I've been to the Genious bar, and shipped the unit to Texas for repair. Apple has yet to publish a resolution to this issue.
I suspect it's the NVIDIA 8600GT graphics card.

I have a LaserJet Pro P1606dn - the second page prints upside down when using the duplex print optio

Operating system Windows 7 32 bit. I have re-installed the printer an I have downloaded and applied the most recent drivers from the HP site. The built in set-up shows the settings correctly as duplex on and bind on the long edge but the second page continues to print upside down i.e. it seems to always print as binding on the top edge.
However when I print from my iPad via Airprint the duplex print works perfectly!

IF you are using a printer with 2-sided printing, in the expanded print dialog you will have a selection for long-edge binding OR short-edge binding. Whichever setting you have set, switch to the other one.

Pages documents get modified when put into iCloud or Dropbox

Boy, if Mobile Me was not Apples finest hour what can you say about this mess iCloud?
I have been using Pages for years. Now that I'm trying to use it with iCloud or DropBox it is completely unusable. Every document is changed sometimes with a missing page or sometimes by overlapping several pages.
Anyone having the same problem? Or, any suggestions?

You should just accept that it is wonderful, because Pages has a "Share" button on its document window.
At least that was the rather smug message from the "Pages" expert in Sydney's Apple Store.
He never showed it actually working, which is what I was trying to get him to do. But then he wasn't even interested in looking at the things missing in the iOS version of Pages either.

History drop down when typing url - make it stop?

Is there anyway to make this feature go away? Every time I start to type a url, a drop down list of bookmarks and history pops up as suggestions. I find this incredibly annoying, do not want it, yet can't find a way to disable it. Is there anyway to make this go away? Thanks.

I don't see how locking the history gets you what you want - no prompts. It also prevents you from using History in any meaningful way. Even with History locked, you'll still get prompts out of the bookmarks file. As I posted, simply pressing the space bar once before typing the URL eliminates the prompts.
If you want to see the appearance of these prompts controlled via a preference option, send feedback to Apple via the Safari Menu>Report Bugs to Apple option, or use this feedback form.
