Pages document stuck in icloud

Hi i have ipad 2, iphone 4s and a macbook.... Last week i was editing a pages doc on the fly, and closed up the ipad... came to open it up later, it it wouldnt sync up.. just was stuck on uploading to the cloud.
Its been a week, and Ive reset all my devices, turned cloud off and on again, made sure they are sync'd etc and all other files work fine, except this one important thing i need!
on my iphone the pages app shows the document with a loading bar that never changes, and nothing happens when i try to select it, as if it isnt there, on the ipad the preview icon has a fold effect in the corner with an arrow, signifying something, on icloud webpage itself the document is clickable, and i can delete if if i want (i dont want) and there is a little status bar saying
Ive seen around the net others with the same problem, but havnt found a solution as yet, i imagine im not the only one? has anybody had any luck with this?
thanks in advance

If it won't open on any device or download at iCloud.com, I don't have any suggestions for saving your document, but looking forward get into the habit of saving your work to iTunes at regular intervals, if this happens again you will be able to recover your work.

  • How to get a new iMac pages document into the iCloud

I have an 27 inch imac , an ipad 2 , and an itouch .   I purchased pages for the ipad2 and upgraded to lion on my imac. I can make a pages document on my ipad2 and it goes to the icloud and I can see it on my itouch.  Then I can make changes on the itouch and go to the ipad2 and see the changes.  So the icloud is working.  When I make a pages document on the imac I can not find a way to send it to the icloud so I can see it on my ipad2.  Can someone help me.
    thanks

The iCloud email account is tied to the iCloud account.  If you want a different (new) email account you'll have to create a new iCloud account for your phone.  You can, however, create an email alias to use associated with your current account (see http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2622).  It will have a different email address, but will receive email to the same inbox as the current address so this may not meet your needs.

  • My Pages documents disappeared from iCloud before my very eyes.

    Hello all,
I was at home getting ready for a presentation by writing a document in Pages on my Mac. I saved it to iCloud, and just to be sure it was there, I got my iPad and pulled up the document there. All seemed well, so off I went to my destination.
When I'm at the destination getting ready to present, I open my iPad and start looking at the document there. Then I get a message that says something like, "Your document has been deleted on another device." (This is impossible since I didn't delete it and no one else has access to my devices.) Then I watched in horror as my document and one or two others disappeared from the Pages iCloud list before my very eyes.
So I was stuck now no notes for my presentation. So uncool.
I looked up this problem here and see that a lot of people had similar problems back in 2011. Is anyone having this happen now? And if so, is there a reason/solution? It's such a dramatic problem it makes me not want to use iCloud at all.

  • Unable to open Pages document on desktop/iCloud

Purchased a Macbook Air and decided to use Pages to update and reformat my resume, but after I saved it, I am unable to open it on both the computer and iCloud. The dialogue that pops up just says "filename.pages cannot be opened". Is there a way to convert it to a Word document or PDF, as most online file converters don't recognize .pages?

I will try to get thsi post move to iWork for iOs.

  • Can Not Open Pages Document (iOS) anymore (iCloud)

    Hello,
I have an Issue with pages for iOS. I created a Document on my iPad and tried to open it with my iPhone. After Install Pages on iPhone and Sync with iCloud, the thumbnail of the document shows an inkpot for specific this document. The other docs works fine and the thumbnail Shows the First Doc- Page.  Since I install pages on iPhone, it is Not possible (on iPad too) to Open the Document.
In my oppinion there was a Sync Problem with iCloud. Did Anyone have those problems, or a Solution to restore this Doc?

Not sure about going through Dropbox as I use iCloud to share docs. I, too, was getting the error message about opening docs in Pages on iPad. Found a fix in another thread - rebotted the iPad - close all apps, then hold down both buttons at the same time. The Apple logo comes up for about 30 seconds then the pad comes back on. Docs open now. Hope this helps.

  • How do I utilize the iCloud to view Pages documents created on my MacBook?

I'm trying to figure out how to get pages documents from the iCloud to view on my iPad that were originally created on my MacBook. Do I need to download the pages app if I already have it on my MacBook? I guess I'm confused as to how to even find what's stored in my iCloud. When I save things on my MacBook are they automatically put in the iCloud?
    Thanks in advance for help.

In which case you will need to upload and download documents to and from iCloud through the web portal at iCloud.com

  • Editing icloud pages document on desktop, edits not showing up on icloud

I have a pages document on my icloud called "ABC123"
    I am on my mac
I go to FINDER > iCLOUD > PAGES FOLDER
in the pages folder I see the document "ABC123"
    I click ABC123
It opens in pages on my desktop (not in browser)
I make an edit and type: "***?"
    I click save.
When I open ABC123 in the browser-version of pages, my "***?" edit is not there.
Why are my edits not syncing with the icloud version even though I opened it through my icloud folder? Everything is updated (software and pages and icloud acct).... can we just not use the desktop version to edit icloud documents?
    In other words:
I ask because I'd like to collaborate with others, but I would like to use my desktop version. They can use the browser to edit. but.... my desktop edits aren't saving to the collaborative online version of ABC123

    Hello anonAnthony,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Yes, Pages and iCloud Drive can be used in the way you're describing. It sounds like you're seeing some unexpected behavior with this feature.
For troubleshooting, start with the tips in the "Documents on iCloud.com are not updated when changes are made on my iOS device or Mac" section of this article:
iCloud: Troubleshooting Documents in the Cloud - Apple Support
You may also want to close and re-open Pages and Safari, and test again.
If the steps above don't solve it, the article I mentioned recommends contacting iCloud Support for more help:

  • ICloud saved my daughter's Pages documents and replaced all of my documents with hers. My documents are not on iCloud, how do I get them back?

My daughter saved her Pages documents to my iCloud account on her iPhone while my documents were apparently saved only to my phone. Never had a problem with that until tonight when iCloud synched so now I have all of my daughter's homework but all of my paperwork is gone! I logged into iCloud and it is only her documents there. How do I get my Pages documents back without a backup?
    iphone 4s, version 6.1.3

If you took the picture on your iPhone, they are still there on your iPhone, unless you specifically deleted a particular picture from your iPhone. And likewise, if the picture was taken on your iPad, it is still there on your iPad, unless you specifically deleted that picture from the iPad.
Now ... if you're counting on pictures still "being there" from being on the Photostream ... don't count on that, because that's only a temporary place and it has a time limit and a count limit for how many picture it will have. While the pictures you took on your iPhone and iPad will remain on each one respectively (so you won't lose those), it won't necessarily remain on the Photostream part ... which is only for sharing anyway ... and not meant for storage.
Whatever pictures you had on your Camera Roll and thus is in the backup in iCloud, will still be there.

  • Why can't I access my iCloud-stored Pages document on my iPhone (Pages iOS)?

I have the latest iOS my 2 phones.  I have the current Pages iOS app on each phone.  I have several Pages documents on my iPhones (created there, locally).  I have my iPhone(s) set up for iCloud access and I have Settings on the phones set for iCloud access to Documents & Data.  The phones are connected to the net.
I have (successfully) done a "Save As" of a document from Pages on my Mac to the iCloud.  I have confirmed the Save As worked by logging into my iCloud account (via Safari) and viewing the document in Pages (iWork).  I even did some edits there in Safari and created a new version of the Pages document there, so now I have 2 Pages documents in my iCloud account.
However.... when I launch Pages on either of my phones I do not find a way to open (or import) either of those documents from my iPhone.
    What am I missing?  Thanks!

Also, check the Pages per-app settings in the settings app.
    Hope this helps.
Thanks.  Yes, the Documents & Data is on.  But your second suggestion was spot-on.  I got a reply to my re-posted question in another forum area and that pointed me to the Pages setting in the Settings app.  It had been switched off.  Switching it to "on" has the iCloud-stored documents now appearing in Pages on the phones.

  • How to share a Pages document in iCloud

Is it possible to work with another person on a Pages document remotely, via iCloud, and thus be able to see and restore previous versions?

Dropbox is a proven tool that even provides a month's worth of incremental backup. It will also warn you if more than one person opens a given document and makes changes at the same time. That warning is important, but it's still a pain to work through the differences if a collision occurs, so that's why I recommend never actually revising an old version, but rather beginning a new one. Mountain Lion makes that easy with Locking and Duplicate.

  • Mac pages 5.5.1 iCloud problem

    Hi
I have a mid 2011 Mac running the latest Yosemite. My pages is 5.5.1.
I can't seem to open any pages documents direct from iCloud Drive. Logging out of then back in to iCloud drive doesn't work. the only thing that works is me dragging the file from iCloud to desktop, from where I'm able to open it.
A possible trigger could be me amending one of the documents on an iOS device (running 8.1.2).
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

Solved by the release of Pages 5.5.2

  • Unknown error when editing Pages document.

I uploaded a Pages document to the iCloud Drive via the web browser. I can open and read the document using Pages on my iPad. However, when I attempt to edit the document, it tells me "Unknown Error: Document must be closed."
Is this a bug that Apple is working to fix?

I have a phone with IOS 8, a MacBook Pro with Yosemite and an iMac with Mavericks. Apple seemed to have dropped the ball as updating to IOS 8 and selecting Cloud Drive seems to cause problems with existing docs in the Cloud. For example, if I try to open an old doc on the Mavericks machine I get a warning that I can't as I have upgraded to Cloud Drive but none of the docs appeared on the Cloud Drive in Yosemite or IOS 8.
Eventually found a solution which was to drag all my Cloud docs to the desktop on the Mavericks machine so I did not lose them. I then opened iCloud.com and dragged the documents into the Cloud Drive there.
All OK so far in that they now show on my IOS phone AND my Yosemite MacBook but NOT on the Mavericks iMac. That shows a blank iCloud folder.
Tried to edit one of the docs on the IOS8 phone and got the Unknown Error problem and when I checked the doc on the MacBook the edit had not taken place. Discovered a solution on the MacBook though as trying to edit on that came up with a Document locked warning. I unlocked the document and the edit worked and was correctly saved in the Cloud. It could also now be opened and edited on the phone with no errors.
Then tried opening a different doc on the phone and had the same error problem so assume it was locked but could not see a way of unlocking it. Back to the File selection screen and found I could select a document and make a copy. Then opening the copy I found I could make edits and save them with no error problems.
Bottom line is it seems existing docs in iCloud Drive could be locked and they need either unlocking or copying to avoid the error. Maybe IOS8 should be giving the same Document Locked Warning as Yosemite but it seems to be yet another bug in the new software.
