Pages Documents sent to a PC

I create documents for my boss, sometimes 50 at a time that started as Word documents on a PC. My PC died and I bought a Mac. I can create the documents fine, but when I email them to my boss, they show up in his email as Zip files and he has to open each zip file to be able to print it which takes a lot more time that the quick print way without having to open the document when it was PC to PC. How can I fix that? Any way I can send the files without them Zipping?

The Sharing solution is per document.
You can use the File > Export To... > Word... Next approach, and save each Word document in an intuitive location ( Documents ). Then launch the Mail composition window, select multiple Word documents in the Finder, and drag/drop them into your Mail composition window as attachments.
By default the preceding export process will create Word .docx documents. If you want Word .doc documents, then click on the Advanced Options text in the Export dialog, and click the Format selection.

I'm just trying to print my online pay stub
Since my printer isn't working, I'd like to save document to my desktop ("save as" is the only option given to me) and send it as an attachment to a friend's computer and working printer.
    What browser are you using?
Are you trying to print or to save the doc? Whether you have a working printer or not is really immaterial. If you're trying to print, then File > Print > PDF > Save as PDF…. If the resulting PDF is small enough (<5MB, though my preference is <1MB), e-mail it to your pal. If it's too big, transfer it using a chat programme or a file service (MediaFire, RapidShare, etc).
Now, I am currently trying to send the document directly (via email, an option given under "file") the pay stub from my employer (who uses ADP online payroll services), to that computer and working printer ....and I'm receiving a window (with apple mail logo on it) that begins with  "To view this page, you must log in to this area on agateway.adp.com:443:"  and asks for "name" and "password".  I've put in both ADP's information, and what I believe (could be very wrong) to be apple mail's information, and either/neither/nothing seems to work!
I don't understand any of this. You need to explain better—or perhaps just post a screen shot (blank any private or confidential info on it prior to posting).

  • Pages on iPhone can't read Pages documents sent from Mac

My new MacMini (Yosemite) isn't compatible with my old Word files; it saves them in Pages. When I tried reading these on my iPhone, nada. Customer Support said I needed to buy the Pages app   (I was surprised it wasnt included since my iOs software is also current). So I bought that for $10 --- and still get the same blank grey screen saying <Original.pages   Pages document    270 KB> ---- but nothing else ---  when I try to open the Pages doc (whether from Dropbox, or directly downloaded from an email).

Please update your tag line. It still says you are on OS X 10.3.9
You simply have your Word files set to be opened by Pages. Fix that by selecting a Word file in Finder:
Menu > File > Get Info > Open with > choose Word > Change All
Your iPhone must be older than September 2013 which is when Apple started offering Pages for free.
Are you saying transferred files are blank on your iPhone? How do they appear on your Mac?

  • Pages documents snet by email cannot be opened

Having used IWork08 successfully for the past 8 months, I was dismayed to find out that a colleague of mine who had just downloaded the trial version could not open the files I sent her (Pages, Keynote or Numbers).
She could send me a basic template and I could open it. My I could not resend it to her or to myself. It would be either not-recognized as a pages document or it would be recognized as corrupted.
I know that the issue has been addressed in other postings within this forum but it might be worth addressing it again.
A Pages document is organized in a package. To see the content of the package: Go to directory where file is located. Right click (if mouse) and select "Show Package Content".
Most of the time such packages will not go through email applications, not only web-based but also IMAP-POP email programs such as Mail, Thunderbird or others.
The following doc is part of the Help Doc in IWork08. Although it addresses earlier versions of Pages and Keynote, it is still relevant in Pages 3.0.

All right peoples.. I have found the solution to this extremely annoying problem. Lately for me, the index pages were opening at an ever increasing pace; until I found the solution. After trying with all malware and antispyware programs to no success. I finally learned how to fix this.
It seems like the #@&%er creating this problem is a rootkit. I found my computer was regularly trying to communicate with several IPs, which include: rollangarr0s . com and other websites belonging to a guy from India named Nmajjd Nbvjaa . If anyone knows how to report and stop this person and his activities, please do!!!
    The info on his whois:

To get rid of the rootkit go to the following website, and download the utility TDSSKiller. Run it in your computer, and voila! after rebooting, your computer is clean. No more of the annoying index windows and creepy calls to this guy's websites..

  • Page document with audio file not sent by email

Hello and blessed Christmas to everybody.
    Here is my problem.
I created a pages documents with images and an audio file from iTunes inside.
Sharing it by Mail, (and converting it in PDF so that anybody without pages be able to open it) I see that the audio file is not present or not playing inside my mail.
Is this because of the conversion in PDF?
But I'm afraid of PC user not being able to see it if I let it in Pages.
    Thanks for your tips.
    Cathy

Of course! I must have been inattentive.      AsI don't have Adobe acrobat pro I sent everything in word and pages.
    Thanks

  • How do i save a PDF document sent to me via email to Pages on my IPad

Hey All,  I have a document that i want on my IPad.  How do i save a PDF document sent to me via email to Pages on my IPad?

You can't. You can export Pages files as PDF documents but you cannot save a PDF into Pages. It does not support that feature.
There are tons of PDF apps in the App Store aside from iBooks. Adobe Reader makes a pretty decent PDF app that will store, annotate, rename, highlight, use form fields, sign pdf's, and organize in folders. It is free as well. There are other apps, you just have to Serach for them.

  • I have been sent a .pages document and would like to extract the photos included in the document as jpegs (need to edit on photoshop and put back in), is this possible? can't figure out how to do it.

I have been sent a .pages document and would like to extract the photos included in the document as jpegs (need to edit on photoshop and put back in), is this possible? can't figure out how to do it.

I'm going to answer my own question:
    Easy steps
Locate the document in the Finder.
    Control/Right-Click on its icon.
    Select Show Package Contents
All images and embedded objects appear in ‘Data’ folder

  • HT4356 How do you conver a Page document to PDF when there is no printer available

I purchased a $400 printer last year..now I cannot use it with my IPAD3 because it has to be an Air Print printer.
I need to convert my Page document to PDF and the only way to do that is to go to Print a document...but, when
I get there it tells me that I don't have a printer...Therefore, I cannot get to PDF conversion...
I thought Apple have an incredible group of smart software engineers  ...what happened?
Now, I have to go and buy another $400 printer to be able to convert a document to PDF?
I bought this IPAD3 for my wife since she is not a computer expert but, so far I see that this is a  product more compicated than a personal computer.
The hardware is great but,  so far my wife has a hard time to use the Apps I got for this IPAD...I'm a software programmer working for a major computer company and I also have a hard time trying to get these functions to work...

Under "Share and Print", tap "Email Document", then choose PDF. Alternately, tap "Sent to iTunes", "Copy to iDisk", or "Copy to WebDAV" and then choose PDF...

  • Pages document "could not be read" bc. it "does not have a valid format"

The document in question was properly saved and Pages was not open when my computer hung as it was shutting down. MS Word would not quit or force-quit and I had to hard restart the computer. When I later tried to open this Pages document, which I had been working on before Word froze, Page would not open it and responded with the error message: "This document "document_name.pages" could not be read. This document does not have a valid format." When I looked at the document in question I noticed that its file size was 0KB. I have no idea why this happened, but I suppose it has to do with my computer not shutting down properly and perhaps with Word freezing. If I repair my drive permission, re-index it, anything, will it help? Just a note on the status of this machine: spotlight stopped working earlier this morning and I was waiting to finish this document before repairing disk permissions and trying to fix that issue with Spotlight.
In the meantime I have tried various fixes. First I tried to change the file ending to .zip, unpack it and open it. Then the same, but this time I tried to view package contents. It doesn't show up in the contextual menu as even having a package to show the contents of. The file is effectively empty, but I don't know where the contents went! The funny thing is that the MS Word doc was recovered automatically. Is it possible that Pages doesn't have an auto-recovery mechanism?
I need this file urgently, or at least the text in it. It is the bibliography of an important paper due tomorrow at 5 pm.Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
BTW, I have used a file-recovery program in the past. It is called "Stellar Phoenix" and it worked wonderfully to find a Word doc that I accidentally deleted. It can't find .pages document though. In order to do so, I would need to tell the program what the average file size is, as well as the header information as follows. "Header (in hexadecimal)" "At Offset (in decimal)". I have no idea what this means, but if I could insert it, perhaps it could find the lost data. Should I have it search for .pages, .zip, .xml? I'm at a loss, but I know that it doesn't recognize .pages. In the meantime, I sent a support email to them and will see what happens.
    Thank you for your help.
    David

    I can't respond before.
When the system say that your file size is 0KB, it means that nothing was saved. Only a file descripto exists.
So, there is nothing to recover.
Given the time the system crashed, you may have :
    (1) a simple descriptor with nothing written
    (2) a folder with every or only some of the required files.
In this case, Phoenix is useless : it's unable to revive a folder.
    (3) a flatfile (a compressed version of the folder named above). It's only this kind of file which Phoenix may revive.
With a bit of luck, Phoenix would be able to revive the index.xml file which was in the original folder created in the temporary folder.
    This file starts with :
    <?xml version="1.0"?><sl:document xmlns:sfa="http://developer.apple.com/namespaces/sfa"
    or
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <sl:document xmlns:sfa="http://developer.apple.com/namespaces/sfa"
The minimal size for a Pages index.xml file is : 520038 bytes.
If you retrieve the index.xml file, we may try to rebuild an usable package.
Ask the recovery tool to transfer the recovered file on an other media.
If the document embedded pictures, the index will give their path and their size which may be useful to recover them.

  • Cannot open Pages document in Mavericks

Someone has sent mew a Pages document. When I try and open it I get an error message saying:
You need newer versions of OS X and Pages to open this document.
Install the latest version of OS X, then download the latest version of Pages from the Mac App Store.
Is there a converter anywhere I can use? I'm not going to upgrade my entire OS just to open one document. To be frank I can't believe Apple are even suggesting it. Unfortunately asking the sender to re-save it as another format isn't an acceptable option.
    I'm on 10.9.5, and Pages 5.2.2.

I suspect that the priority is on cross-platform compatibility and use of iCloud Drive. I understand this is a critical part of the OS/X-iOS business strategy and I don't begrudge the effort, but I think this has undermined the focus on important features.
No ability to do endnotes? That should be easier to implement than footnotes. Advanced search for invisible characters (line breaks in particular) was a feature of great value and shouldn't be hard to implement within the current find&replace system. A lot of effort is going into Pages 5 as a common tool for three environments, but little seems to be going into rebuilding its feature set. And retaining the presentation of facing pages imported from 4.3 but not being able to change the settings is just frustrating.

  • I cannot open my Pages documents :(

    Can anyone help me please?
I am a newbie and I cannot open my pages documents.
Every time I open it, it always shows this "problem report for pages" and It's been weeks.
It says "Pages quit unexpectedly" and request me to click reopen to peen the application again, which the report will be sent to Apple automatically.
Nothing happens up until now. Still the same. Tried to open new document and any other saved documents, it remained the same.
    A bit desperate here.
    Can someone help please?
OS Version: Mac OS X 10.9.5
    Version: 5.2.2

    Nope.
    Still not working.

  • How can I convert a Pages document into PDF or RTF?

I have been asked to send a Pages document to PC users in RTF or PDF format.  How can I get my Pages document to convert into other formats for PC people?
Is that what the export feature is supposed to do?  I just don't know how to sent my document via e-mail to non-Apple conputers!

You didn’t indicate whether you are using Pages ’09 v4.+ or the latest Pages v5(.2) release. To send an email with either Word or PDF attachment from within Pages:
    Pages ’09 v4+
Pages menubar > Share (category Send via Mail) > (select Word (.doc) or PDF). Mail will launch into a compose window with the document already attached.
    Pages v5+
Pages toolbar > Share > Send a Copy > Email > (select Word (.doc/x) or PDF - best). Mail will behave as above.
Note: Either version of Pages is not an MS Word clone and it must translate content into the Microsoft document architecture. If you must have maximum Word document accuracy, you will need Office for Mac 2011, and the associated MS Word application that produces native .docx format.
    Backup your work.

  • Why can't I get a Mac created/iPad edited Pages document to appear in iTunes when using "send to iTunes" command in Pages on my iPad

This morning I updated to iTunes 10.4. and also updated Pages on my MacBook (SL 10.6.8)  to version 4.1. My iDevices are all recognized in iTunes and all is going fine except for this one thing. I created a Pages document on my Mac and I sent it to my iPad using file sharing with iTunes. I edited and finished the document on the iPad and then used the "send to iTunes" feature and prepared to sync back to my Mac. The document appears to transfer over - and I have tried sending it over again and again - but it never appears in the file sharing Pages documents window after I sync. When I try to send it from the iPad again, the device tells me that the document already exists and asks if I want to replace it, so it must be transferring somehow but I don't see it in the window.
This only started after I updated both applications. I've been using Pages and file sharing without any issues at all until now. The really ironic thing is that I can create a Word document on my Mac, send it to the iPad, edit it there and send it back to iTunes and it appears in the window like you would expect - but my Pages documents do not. Word documents work fine but not Pages documents? Documents created on the iPad seem to be going back and forth fine but not Mac created files.
I've tried everything I can think of, restarting disconnecting the iPad reconnecting the iPad, hard reset .... Any ideas? Is there something that I am missing? Anybody else experience this?

Just thought I'd add my solution, I decided to go with WebDAV and I think it actually works better than the iTunes way, the steps are pretty much the same but avoiding the iTunes interface just makes things easier and faster.
I followed this guide but it does have a small mistake in the httpd-dav.conf file, on line 2, where it's WebServer/WebDAV">, it should be <Directory "/Library/WebServer/WebDAV">.
The tricky part is setting permissions which if wrong will give you errors when connecting with the iPad, I opted to set all to Read&Write since my home network has a hardware firewall. Another convenience was to add an alias to the webdav share on the Desktop.
I'm still expecting the call from Apple but even if they fix the iTunes I'm sticking with WebDAV, atleast until I see what's new with iOS5 and iCloud this fall which should bring true sync for documents (I'm hoping that they will offer encryption with my own keys, if not, then I'll probably keep using WebDAV).
