Pages does not preserve the layout in Word

On opening Word with Pages, the layout is not preserved
Word has navigation pane for navigation between the headings but Pages seems not to have
There are many details in layout that are not preserve,f ex the pages have different number of words etc
I would like to know what features are not preserved

"Perfect" is an overstatement. It is in fact completely messed up in particular with long documents.
The problem is that I could not move Word documents to iCloud. I have to use pages.

Since the latest update to OX I have been unable to download the contents of some emails because pages does not support the font they are created in. Is there a fix for this?

Hi, since I installed the latest update on my Mac I have been unable to open the contents of some emails because it is saying that pages does not recognise the font. For example it is saying 'some features aren't supported, the font Calibri isn't available on OS X. It was replaced with TrebuchetMS' This means that I cannot open letters from my daughters school. Is there any way round this other than getting rid of this nightmare MAC and going back to Windows!?

I applied a template to a page with SWFs and now that page does not play the SWFs. Why?

I applied a template to a page with SWFs and now that page does not play the SWFs (just a blank area where the SWF should be). When I detach the template it will play the flash file. This site will eventually be updated via Adobe Contribute. And I just discovered that when applying a template to a page that uses HTML datasets (Master/Detail),it no longer reads the Master/detail regions and displays a blank. Any thoughts?

Firstly, you shouldn't really 'apply' a template to a page, you should create a child page by going to FILE>NEW>Page from Template. Too many things can happen when applying a template the way you are doing it. eg:; editable and non-editable regions not matching up and being asked where to place these regions and in all likelihood, you end up with 2 or more of the same region.
When a swf file is inserted into a page, a corresponding Scripts folder is written automatically is stored in the root of the site - it is also linked to in the head of the document. What I believe is happening is that when you apply a template to the page, the Template has no idea that there is a swf file on the page and is not aware of the correct link to the Scripts folder. If you do a test and add the swf file to the template page itself, I bet that the links to the swf and the scripts folder are correct - because DW knows the correct path to the script file. Hence the reason the page probably works when you detach it from a template.

With using any version of iTunes, whenever I import songs into my library using the "add to library" function, iTunes adds those songs in songs' alphabetical order. This is pretty annoying since it does not preserve the logical track number or album.

hi i had the same problem today when i updated my itunes to latest version. however, i have just found my songs in the 'itunes media' folder. this was accessed through 'my music' then keep clicking through until you find itunes media and all my library songs were in there and i then just added these files to my library and all were restored however, i have lost all my playlists but at least my 700 songs are back. very dissapointed with apple that they have let this happen with their latest update, the previous version was miles better than this one . hope you find them. stevo

Pages does not select the default printer.

I have an IMac, 2.8 GHz, running version 10.6.5 connected to a Canon MX860. Under Print & Fax preferences, I list two printers. The first is Canon MX860 USB and the second is Canon MX860 Wireless. The default is set for the wireless. On all applications except "Pages", the default printer is the one selected. But, PAGES always selects the USB one. Is this a bug in PAGES, or is there something I can do?

Yvan, not wishing to incur your ire... I have a similar problem and went through pages of discussions generated by the search function. I cannot find a thread matched with exactly with what I believe to be the issue here. My default print setting is wireless and all apps respect that including Pages (Version 09) generic templates. However, when I print from a Pages template that I created, it always defaults to the USB connection of my printer - and I do not leave the USB cable plugged in. I have tried to modify the template by opening it, File, Page Setup, Attributes, Format for wireless printer - save template.... Yet it still defaults to the unconnected USB version of my printer. Even doing page set up and then trying to print immediately, it defaults to the USB version. My printer is HP Photosmart C4585.

Converting to DNG in LR4 does not preserve the date

When converting to from Canon CR2 raw to DNG (on Windows 7 x64), the newly created file has the conversion date and not the creation date of the original picture file.

I hope Lightroom 4, with the goal to optimize the photo editing workflow, will give us an uption to preserve the date.

Thats completely confusing: LR shows me first a date/time which is of no use at all – who will be ever interested in such file data when editing pictures.

The page does not fit the screen and the fonts are too small. I cant seem to change any of the settings

CTRL+0 (<--that is a zero) will reset your zoom level on affected pages. Firefox remembers the zoom level you last used on a page.

Output does NOT match the layout in Oracle Report Developer

Good afternoon,
I am extremely frustrated. I have been designing a report that has boilerplate text that is a list of questions and possible answers. Those choices typically are "Not Answered", "Yes","No", and "Unknown". I placed a box beside each choice and place a capital X in the appropriate box, based on the results in the database. When I run the report, the text overlays text above, the grey boxes do not show and in general, the output doesn't match the layout.
Sometimes, the questions may relate to other things and there may be as many as 10 or 12 choices. Some of those choices will be exclusive (only 1 of the 10) other times, the answer would be a "Check all that apply" type of condition.
It appears to happen when a report reaches a certain level of complexity although I can't determine just where that threshold is at.
I can't seem to paste an image here to show the layout and the results.
Has anyone else experienced this? Anyone have any idea what I can do to fix this?
I've opened an SR with Oracle Support, but don't expect a quick answser.

EUREKA!!! It works. DC, you rock. Oracle Support is still stewing about this one. I'll update my SR to let them know. It seems a silly thing, but the "biggest" change I made was changing the 'X' from a fixed-based-font to a variable-font (was courier and I changed to Times New Roman and selected a smaller font size). Although, just for insurance, I expanded the box a tad also.

A page does not behave the same in every case

I am using adfbc and jsf/adf pages.
I have an entity called Parish (CountryId, CityId, AreaId, ParishName), and created a simple validation method (if the parish name is equal to "test" then to show an error by returning false).
I created a custom validation method in my AppModule that i just simply get the record id, find the entity and set the values with the method parameters
I then created a view based on the entity and dragged my view object on my jsf page. I created a button and i binded my custom edit method to the command button, setting the appropriate parameters to bindings on the form. I then double clicked by button and created a binding for the method in a bean.
When i edit a record and change for example the CountryId, CityId, AreaId and set the ParishName to test (so to force my validation method fire), i am shown the error but the data that i last inputed are lost, and the original are show.
In another case where i am doing the same thing, the data are kept.
For example, i have a record with CountryId:UK, CityId:London, AreaId:Finchley, ParishName: North Finchley and when i edit the record and define CountryId:USA, CityId:New York, AreaId:Manhattan, ParishName: test, i get the error message but the data are the original (CountryId:UK, CityId:London, AreaId:Finchley, ParishName: North Finchley). I want to keep the last entered data. In some forms this is done automatically, but in this form i didn't do anything, just dragged and defined, and is not working.
Anyone please help?

I apologize for insisting on this, but in my humble opinion it's not useful to try and figure out why your hand-written example is not working if already the declarative way is not working as we expect. We need to figure out why the declarative way is not working first.
One of my primary jobs is helping customers use ADF correctly and understand how it works internally.
The code in your updateParish() method is redundantly applying updates to entity attributes that ADF will already have applied to the entity for you. To see this for yourself, you can set a breakpoint in one of the setter methods of your entity object and you'll see that your code is applying the updates a second time.
I see one reason why your error reporting won't be working as expected, which is that you are directly using the entityImpl object to apply the values. The ADF bundled exception mode only works when you use the view object row to apply the updates to the entities indirectly. Howing using the view object row to apply the values is what ADF will have already done automatically for you, so it's not necessary to do that.
It's also not a best practice to pass a literal integer value for the first argument of setAttribute(). If for any reason the constant values change, then your code will break. You should call setAttribute("TheAttributeName",thevalue) instead for more robust code.
Finally, your programmatically setting the user principal name and current date time can also be handled for you automatically by ADF by setting those attributes to be of the correct "History Attribute" type. See section "6.6.3.10 History Attributes" in the ADF Developer's Guide for Forms/4GL Developers on the ADF Learning Center at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/adf/learnadf.html
Set a breakpoint in your validation method and debug the completely declarative edit form with the simple (Commit) button. We need to understand if the:
(a) validation is executing, failing, but the validation error is not being reported correctly, or
(b) validation is never being enaged at all.

Cannot download Mountain Lion after purchasing from Apple online. Mountain Lion icon is now permanently 'paused' in the dock. The Purchase page has the download but no resume button. I have enter the code again but it cannot be redeemed again. I have signed in and out again from the tab at the top of the page.
I have spoken to Apple for two evenings now. Last attempt was to bypass the Mountain Lion and download Mavericks overnight but nothing downloaded.
I have checked the internet connection and all is well.
Any ideas how to progress... I have an appointment to take in to Apple on Monday...

Have you tried to resume the download using Launch Pad? The icon should be in your Dock.
If that doesn't help ...
Apps such as Little Snitch, Growl, and MacKeeper can prevent apps from downloading
Disable anti virus software if installed
Make sure the firewall is turned off in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall
Make sure Gatekeeper is enabled
Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy then select the General tab.
Make sure either Mac App Store or Mac App Store and identified developers is selected.
If that area is grayed out, click the padlock icon to proceed.
