Pages doesn't open (iCloud) documents

Pages on my iMac doesn't open my documents stored in iCloud. However, I can drag documents from iCloud to my desktop, then open them with Pages and save them in iCloud. Then I can't open them again..
My Macbook Air doesn't have any problems, it just works
I tried deleting some .plist files and reinstalling Pages, but no luck.
I'm getting sick of this problem and it's ruining my productivity. I hope someone knows the solution to this problem.

I have Pages ’09 v4.3 on OS X 10.8.4.
I just created a new blank document in the beta iCloud Pages. I then launched Pages in OS X and opened some boiler-plate latin text in a local Pages document. I copied and pasted this from OS X to the open blank document in the beta iCloud Pages. Next, I opened the Media tool in Pages v4.3 and dragged an image from there onto the iCloud Pages document and dropped it. I was then able to resize and position it with latin text flowing around it.
As there is no save/save as... ability in the iCloud Pages beta, I clicked on the blank icon and it updated. I then clicked on the name and changed it from Blank to another name.
Back in Pages v4.3, I chose the open dialog and switched it to iCloud. There was the document that I had created with the beta iCloud Pages. I selected it and was immediately opened in Pages v4.3. Then, locally in Pages v4.3, I selected another image and dragged and resized it in Pages v4.3. I saved it and watched it immediately update in the beta iCloud Pages document panel.
I was able to create a PDF in beta iCloud Pages and email it to myself. I was able to download the Pages document created in beta iCloud to my hard drive without dragging and dropping it.
I do not appear to be having issues creating, interacting, saving, updating, or emailing content from beta iCloud Pages, or between my version of OS X Pages and the beta iCloud version.

You said the documents don't open, but do they actually appear in Pages in the iPad? There is a difference between the two issues.
If the setting will not stay on, try signing out of your ID, reboot the iPad and then sign in again and see of the setting stays on.
Settings>iTunes & App Store. Tap your ID and sign out.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
Go go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store and sign in again. See if the setting will stay on for iCloud.
No docs appear on the iPad in Pages (I have them in iCloud (on my Mac))

Try this:
Make sure IOS is updated to latest version
Reboot device by pressing both the home button and sleep/wake (power) buttons at the same time for 10-15 seconds until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
If that doesn't work then reset the device by going to settings/general/reset/reset all settings

Mac will not open iCloud "Documents" - No Errors

Over the past few days, I have noticed that my iCloud documents will not open on my Mac.
I am able to edit them on my iOS devices. (via Numbers, Pages, Keynote for example)
I am able to Save new documents to my "iCloud"
I am NOT able to open the new documents from my iCloud
I am able to edit the new documents on my iOS devices
I am able to save new documents to my local machine
I am able to open the new documents from my locla machine
I have not made any preference changes to the system. The only way I am eventually able to OPEN iCloud documents, is by completely restarting the system. Then it works, at least for the first few times I have tried.
Any thoughts as to how to root cause?

I am not sure why this works, but it worked for me.
The behavior I am experiencing happens when I open Numbers for the first time, I am prompted with the open dialog box. If I attempt to open a file from my icloud in that dialog, I am unable to open any document, i.e. this is the behavior I am experiencing.
I opened a file from my local machine
Left the file open from my local machine
I then used File- > Open and chose a a file from iCloud
The iCloud document opened successfully.

iPad 2 - I bought it March 2012

Check the following settings:
1. Settings>Pages>Use iCloud>On
2. Settings>iCloud>Documents and Data>On

Pages doesn't open old files.

Every file created before this version of Pages doesn't open.
is there a solution for that?

It seems, that al lot of discussions going around about the less quality of the new Pages.
One more:
If you have upgrade the old Pages 4.x to the new 5.0...in my case the old one can not be opened again...i am asked about my licence-number of iWorks 09, which i bought 3 years ago in an computer shop....and i loose the package....
For all cases i have still the old pages on my old iMac and it still works.
Anyway....I can not export the Pages 5 Document to the old Pages 09, because before exporting it, you have to open it....and with opening, i loose the picture-contains in the charts...
This is raelly bad.
Next step I will try is, deleting the complete new versions of pages, numbers and keynote, restart my mac and clone the old Pages from my old machine to the new, or ( second try ) go to TimeMachine and recover my old version...?
What do you think of that?

Pages can't open a document, what to do?

Since a couple of days Pages won't open any document for me. This includes documents I open immediatly from an e-mail, documents that I open via Pages or documents that I open via Documents. I get the message Pages has stopped immediatly then, including a large error screen. I'm also unable to open a template or a blank page. The message I get is for example 'The document 'Blank Canvas.template' can not be opened'.
Is there anyone who can help me fixing this problem? I found out Pages does work in a guest account, but I have all the documents that I need on my own account.

Click on your desktop so FINDER appears in the upper left corner.
While clicking the GO menu tab, hold down the OPTION KEY, and LIBRARY will suddenly appear in the menu selection.
While holding the OPTION KEY still, click LIBRARY.
From the folders in the library, open the PREFERENCES folder. (make sure you VIEW as List, so it is easier to find, since the list will give in alphabetical order)
Scroll down to
com.apple.iWork.Pages.LSSharedFileList
com.apple.iWork.Pages.plist
Tim, I tried draging the preference files to the trash, but did not work for me. Hopefully it works for you. I even had a very nice Senior Advisor from Apple try to help me last night and we still got no where. Even he could not open the Pages 09 document file on his own computer, as I had emailed him a copy.
Just alittle note of what happened to me (21.5" mid-2011 iMac, 2.5 GHZ Intel Core i5, 16GB ram, OS 10.7.5 :
Jan 25, 2013 downloaded Pages 09 (v4.3) from App store to my computer.
By Jan 29, 2013 I had typed a 58 page document using the research template within Pages (5 sections: Cover Page, Table of Contents, Chapter Page, Text Page, Bibliography).
On Jan 29, 2013 from 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm while typing research paper I had no problems "saving a version", at 5:36pm I selected the Bioblography from the section pull down menu and then "saved a version" of the document and planned to 'fill in the Bibliography' after eating dinner.
I came back from dinner and Pages 09, gives me an Error box..... that the document cound't be opened.
I can View the document in Preview, unlike others that said they had the same problem, but could not view their documents in Preview.
But I noticed last night while discussing the matter with the Apple Advisor, that the last page (page 58) is actually blank, rather than having the standard "Bibliography title" at the top, like the template selection has on Pages 09. So something happened within the software when I made a selection from the "sections" pull down menu.
Also, the only other program I had running at the time was iTunes (v10.6.3).
The Apple Advisor even remotely accessed my computer last night but found nothing remarkable and took a copy of the document and hopefully Apple will have an answer and possible something to prevent it from happening to anyone else.

I see multiple bug entries regarding this resolved, but no description of what I can do to fix it.
I'm running Flex Builder Professional on Windows XP

I've heard this can be caused in IE when the pop-up blocker is enabled. Disable it so pop-ups are allowed, and the Flex Start Page may load.

You cannot access iCloud on a Mac running Mac OSX 10.4. Are you sure, the system version is correct?
If you are running iWork '09 (iWork 09 9.0.1) on your Mac with Numbers 2.3, you must at least have MacOS X 10.5.6 installed.
if you want iCloud support for iOS apps, you need the iWork 9.3 update,see: About the iWork 9.3 Update
And this update requires OS X Lion v10.7.4

Pages 5.0 can't open iCloud documents. Has anybody run into this issue?

Here's the story:
I upgraded to Pages 5.0 and can't open .pages documents saved in icloud.
It does not seem to be a file incompatibility. I am creating files in Pages for Mac, saving them to iCloud. They are immediately unable to re-open.
I only get a message saying: The file “{file name}.pages” couldn’t be opened.
Documents can be created without issue. If they are saved to my local drive, I can open them again.
Obviously, this makes it very difficult to use Pages with any other devices because document syncing is impossible.
Details on my system:
Mid-2010 13" Macbook pro
2.4 Ghz core 2 duo
8 GB ram
OS X 10.9

I was also experiencing same issues without being to open Older Pages Docs from iCloud in Pages 5. I followed suneson Recommendation and process to the T... Works perfectly.
Important to note you do have to do the second part in order for it to work completely. I tested just the first half and still had issues. Once Disabling and Re-enabling Documents and Clearing Cache - works perfectly now. Thanks Suneson!
Suneson process:
Move all of your iCloud documents to a local folder (offline).
Go to the iCloud preference pane i System Preferences.
Click Manage... and delete all Pages data.
The Next Step is required:
Go back to iCloud preferences and uncheck "Documents & Data".
Check it again.
Delete ~/Library/Caches/--anything related to Pages or iWork--

Cannot open iCloud document on Macbook pro (numbers, pages, ...)

Im am sharing some documents between iPad, iPhone, iMac and the Macbook pro. The Macbook pro is new, I am starting to use it now.
When trying to open a document (e.g. a numbers document) on my Macbook pro, I can see it in the "open file" dialog; the dialog even shows a preview. When clicking at the document I get an error message, telling me that numbers cannot open the file.
I can open my iCloud files at my iMac without a problem; no problem with the iPad also. I am using the newest versions of numbers, pages at all my devices.
At my Macbook pro I can move the iCloud document to the desktop. At the desktop it opens without any problem.
Any idea?

ICloud DriveCan't open iCloud documents and can't upgrade to

I'm trying to open some of my iCloud documents at work from a PC via iCloud.com. This has never been a problem before but now when I try to do so I'm presented with a message along the lines of:
"To use Numbers you will need to upgrade to iCloud Drive...."
The trouble is, if I upgrade to iCloud Drive I then won't be able to access these documents from my Mac at home as that will need to be running Yosemite (it's currently on Mavericks), nor will I be able to access them on my iPhone or iPad, both if which will need to be running iOS8, but both of which aren't capable of running iOS 8.
What do I do? The whole point of storing documents in iCloud was so that I could access them across platform, now that doesn't seem possible. Is there anyway I can still open MY documents from my PC without 'upgrading' to iCloud Drive?

If a Pages '08 document doesn't open in Pages '09, the problem is not Pages '09, it's that the document is corrupted.
I will be disconnected for a few days but if you may wait until tuesday 26th,
on this day, send me a sample file.

No, there isn't what you are looking for. Maybe someone else have a work around.
Download the Pages User Guide by going to the Help menu in Pages. there you see what you can do.

IPad Pages: can't open ONE document!

my wife has an ipad bought new in 2013... currently running 7.1.2. she uses pages regularly and has a major speaking engagement this weekend. she was working on her ongoing draft as usual through late last night, then this morning, went onto the ipad and pages says "document can't be opened". all other documents open fine. i've been reading scores of other similar forums on here and have not found any help. document icon still looks like all the other document icons. unable to send/share or do anything with the document on the ipad... when i try and send via email, share etc, the pages app freezes on "creating document" screen. logged onto icloud from my mac (all of this is under my apple ID) and again, document icon is perfectly viewable like all the others, but icloud says it "can't be opened at this time, try again later." and again, no success email / sharing / downloading in any formats.
have already closed and restarted pages, standard off/restart ipad, and hard restart of ipad. nothing has changed. any help?? would be grateful for ANY way to simply even retreive the text of this document!!!

I'm not sure that I would say that they are commonplace, but I've seen this occur more often that it should. I have spent some hours over the last couple of years trying to help users retrieve files like this and I have spent time trying to retrieve a couple of my own files. I'm sorry to say that I never had any luck. I do NOT trust the cloud - anybody's cloud for that matter. I use iOS file sharing to move the documents to my Mac and I backup the Mac with Time Machine on my Time Capsule, and another external drive.
There are third party apps that claim to be able to retrieve a lot of iOS lost content, but I don't know that any of them will restore Pages files. I cannot recommend any apps because I have never used one. You can search the internet for them. "apps to restore deleted files on iPad". Use that as your search entry and you will come up with an number of websites.
