Pages doesn't print, pdfs do

I have the newest OS, an iMac and a Brother printer.  It all worked great two days ago and before.  The printer is about three months old.
Today I needed to print some Pages documents and the print screen runs through all the steps indicating that it is connected to the printer, the documents are printing and then disappears from the print screen.  It all looks perfectly normal.  But nothing comes out of the printer and I just get a second or two of the sound that starts when paper is just being fed into the printer.
I restarted everything and still nothing.
I am using a wireless connection to the printer, and haven't tried using a USB.  And, like I said there was no problem just a day or two ago.  I haven't changed any settings on my iMac or on the printer.
Then I tried turning the Pages document into a pdf and they printed fine, which must indicate that it's a Pages problem, right?
Any ideas, please?

it appears to have been a problem within the document.  I was confused because the two documents I tried both had the same problem.  Other Pages stuff seems fine.

  • Latest version doesn't print PDFs, says "No pages selected to print" whether I have chosen "All" or "Page 1-N"

    I've installed and reinstalled the latest version of Adobe Reader at least twice, but I still get the same problem - I cannot print PDFs on paper using my local printer.
    Additional info that might be helpful:
    * The printer is connected and tested, and prints from other programs like MS Word.
    * I can print from Adobe Reader to PDF using a program like BullZIP, but this is obviously not useful.
    * I have tested various PDFs, as far as I can see this is not about the type of PDF (whether it contains macros or fields or whatever).
    * The exact error messages are "The document could not be printed" and "There were no pages selected to print" in two separate popup boxes.

    DO NOT USE PREVIEW TO FILL OUT PDF FORMS, IT WILL DESTROY PDF FILES. Sorry, but I had to shout here to prevent damage to your PDF files.
    Here is one of the symptoms when you fill out a PDF form with Preview: If you save it and return it to the author, they will not be able to see the text that you've added to form fields - unless they click on a field, which will reveal the contents of just that field. You can recover from this problem, but Preview will also remove other field types, and will actually rewrite your complete PDF while ignoring what it does not understand. • Discoverer Plus - Problem with Page Orientation when printing pdf's

    Hi,
    When printing pdf's in Disco Plus I have a problem:
    My workbooks are a mixture of landscape and portrait pages.
    I am printing the entire workbook and then using cutepdf to produce a pdf.
    If I print to paper I get the correct landscape/portrait settings.
    If I print to pdf then landscape pages appear vertically when I view on screen so that the text is running from bottom to top of the page.
    So it is picking up th portrait/landscape settings from the individual worksheets but cutepdf has not realised that the pages are landscape so they appear on the screen vertically.
    This was not a problem on discoverer desktop so I am confident that this is not a problem with cutepdf.
    Any thoughts?

  • Reader 10.1.3 for Mac doesn't print pdf's from web

    Yesterday we updated to Adobe Reader 10.1.3.  Now we can't print any pdf's from the web. In some cases we can save the files and open in Reader - those files print. However some web pdf's, like Stamps.com postage, don't allow the files to be saved.  Any suggestions?  We've tried Safari & Firefox, re-installing Reader, running Disk Utility and re-starting the Mac.
    When we try to print pdf's from the web, the print preview page in the print dialogue box is empty/white ... so the content to be print isn't even getting that far.
    We are running Snow Leopard OS - 10.6.8.
    Thanks in advance for any input!
    Joan

    Did you try the solutions listed here:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4338063
    "Can you please check your preview box present at the right bottom corner of print dialog. Is the preview coming right?
    If no, then please try changing 'Comment and Forms' option present just above it. Try selecting 'Document and markups'."
    If yes, Please let me know if it works or not.
    Also, Could you provide more information:
    ->Which Printer are you using
    ->Can you print from Safari/firefox for non-pdf pages. Please try printing any html page and see if works
    ->Can you removing and readding your Printer and then see if it works

  • Brother HL-2030,USB doesn't print PDF files

    Mac OS 10.6.7. Brother HL-2030, USB connection, doesn't print any kin of PDF files, or prints with fatal errors. Printer driver Brother HL-2030 series CUPS. Adobe Reader 10.0.3. . A HP Deskjet printer, with the same connection, prints correctly. I did reinstall the system and updated it. Can you help me to fix this problem?

    Are you sure that model number is correct?
    Brother is not showing it on their support web site, but they show a firmware update and a software update from earlier this year for a similarly numbered model:

  • Last page doesn't print correctly on 2 page 2 copy Windows 8.1 Wireless printing to HP4630

    On Windows 8.1, when printing 2 copies of a 2 page document (any application) the last page of the last copy fails to print completely (sometimes half a page) or fails to print at all.  It doesn't matter whether I am printing one sided ot two sided.
    A blue alert box is displayed on the desktop with the message "Error printing on HP Officejet 4630 series... The printer couldn't print <file name>"
    When I monitor the printing ("See what's printing"), the job disappears in the monitor just before the error message shows up. There is no indication in the monitor of any printing problem.
    I've looked everywhere and can find no event logs that show this error.
    Windows is totally up to date.  The latest HP drivers are installed.
    All attempts to use the various troubleshooting buttons in windows and the driver discover no problems.
    When I print the same exact report in the same way from Windows 7 it doesn't fail.
    I've tried it on 2 different 4630s on the same Windows 8.1computer with the same results.
    Even though this appears to be a unique problem when printing from Windows 8.1, I need to get help finding out the exact nature of the problem and the error message.

    Hi there @FrankCF , and welcome to the HP Forums!
    I see you're running into print issues.  I would like to help.
    Does this issue occur when making a copy from the machine?
    I would suggest performing a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
    I would then recommend downloading and running the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
    Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • HP DeskJet 3510 Printer Alignment Page Doesn't print correctly.

    Hi I have a strange problem with my HP DeskJet 3510. I took it out of the box installed everything loaded up paper and powered it on. It went through all the motions and blah blah and printed out an alignment page. Anyhow it didn't look right to me but I went ahead and scanned it anyway and it then said "ink cartidges are set to default color quality" or something to the effect. I hit ok and it went to the main menu.
    Now from my wifes phone I can connect to the printer and print just fine but from our laptop the alignment is all jacked up. If I type a bunch of random lines into notepad or anything really it misses a bunch of lines and some lines just don't even appear. Which I could only think would be because the alignment page isn't right.
    Also from app that gets installed from the software CD on the laptop I can choose to align the cartridges but when I do and it prints and I scan the page (that still looks jacked up to me) the software tells me the alignment failed and asks me to rescan after I put the page in there right. I know the page is in there right its face down and in the bottom right hand corner as it should be.
    Now I have ran the cartdridge cleaning process several times took the cartridges out and looked for debris or anything that could be in the way even though I doubt its any of those things becuase like I had said earlier it prings perfectly from my wifes printershare app from her smart phone. Just as it appears on her screen. Only getting this issue from the PC.
    Anyhow I am going to attach a photo of how the priner aligment page comes out from me doing it on the printers control panel and from the PC's software both it comes out looking like this. If you could please give me some advice to what to do next that would be great as I am out of ideas. Did I just get a bad cartridge? If so why would it print from my wifes phone fine and not from the PC? Is this how the alignment page should look (can't read any of the things on the lower portion really).
    Other Info : PC is running Windows . Other PC has same problem running Windows XP. Wifes Phone is using PrinterShare app. Any information or helpful advice is appreciated thank you guys in advance.

    Finally, after installing and uninstalling the print cartridges on my HP-3510 around 10 times; I finally got the alignment page to print and then scan successfully. It's a nice, very economical printer when it works properly. I was on the verge of tossing it but glad I didn't. I guess the lesson is that persistence can pay off. My thanks to the other two contributing posters.

  • D110 doesn't print PDF files correctly

    When printing from an email PDF attachment on an iPad, some of the lines are squeezed together and are illegible but most of the lines print perfectly.  Any suggestions?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hello stutenn,
    If this is the only instance that squeezes lines of a document together, there could be certain things that need to be addressed with that file or program.  If this occurs while printing all the time, the rollers on your printer may need to be cleaned.
    Concerning a non-hardware issue, you may want to restart your iPad so the Mail app can reload, it could be an issue with how the program is sending the information.
    Also, the file could have been saved with different dimensions than you are printing with, so your printer is trying to fit a legal size document onto a letter size piece of paper. I would recommend downloading the HP ePrint Home and Biz app, to see if the same issue presents itself when opening the file inside this app. You can click the link below to navigate to the app.
    http://www8.hp.com/us/en/products/smart-phones-handhelds-calculators/mobile-apps/app_details.html?ap...
    You can also have a third party app that can AirPrint with PDFs, click the link below to view a list of AirPrint capable apps.

    If I have solved your issue, please feel free to provide kudos and make sure you mark this thread as solution provided!

  • Pages doesn't print lowercase.

    Hi,
    I have a document with some tables and with some letters with lowercase in those tables. The problem is that when I print this document it's printed with those letters with lowercase missing. I've added screenshot of haw it should look and scan of what comes out of the printer.
    Do you know a solution to this problem?

    Hi MB,
    If you had Numbers '09 on your machine, it is now in a folder called iWork '09 inside your Applications folder.

  • Printing PDFs via cups ignores job attributes

    I'm trying to print PDF documents from Linux (using CUPS to translate the PDF to Postscript before sending it to the printer). However, the print job attributes (number of copies, paper size, etc) are all being lost somewhere in the translation.
    I'm using Red Hat 3 (enterprise), CUPS 1.1.17 and JDK 1.4.2_09
    Has anyone seen a problem like this?
    I've run similar code on windows. It doesn't print PDFs, but the code that sets the attributes is the same. I don't have a problem there.

  • Print pdf from WD JAVA

    Hi All
    I have a requirement to print PDF form from  WD
    without to see the PDF form
    i'll be glad to see your suggestions
    Yossi

    iText creates PDFs, but it doesn't print PDFs. I'll look at gsprint; hopefully, it'll do what I need it to do. I do have the luxury of knowing that all users will have a version of Acrobat Reader, so it's too bad I can't kick off a process. The best I could do is kick the process off using Acrobat Reader to open the file and then print from the menu. This won't work since I need a way to ask for type pdf and have windows use the version registered, not the version hardcoded.
    For example,
    Process pr=null;
    String arr[] = {"C:\\Program Files\\Adobe\\Acrobat 5.0\\Reader\\AcroRd32.exe",tmpf.getPath()};
    try {
    pr = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(arr);
    } catch (Exception e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    //Handle the exception
    I tried using AcroRd32.exe, but it failed in finding it. Anyway, this would be last resort, since the user wants to press a Print button and grab it from the printer. I looked at the Java Print API (we are still on 1.2.2.008, so it'll be end of year before making the leap to 1.4) and it's worse than getting a root canal without novacaine.

  • Print pdf from another frame in IE via javascript

    I am responsible for a little web application. There we have 2 frames. In one frame is an pdf-file, this frame is not visible for the user. In the other frame is an button. By clicking the button the pdf-file should be printed.
    The onclick event handler of the button looks like that:
    parent.pdf.focus();
    parent.pdf.print();
    This works with firefox with all acrobat reader versions and IE up to acrobat reader version 6. But there is a problem with IE an adobe reader plugin version 7 and 8. In this constellation the user is presented the normal printing dialog of the IE and not the printing dialog of the adobe reader plugin.
    Is there any workaround to solve the problem.
    Pressing the print-button of the adobe reader plugin is no solution because the frame with the pdf-file is not visible for the user.
    Thanks a lot
    Matthias G.

  • Manual tile with bleeds doesn't print all crop marks

    When I try to print out a manually-tiled print with bleeds, the top of the page doesn't print a bleed and not all the crops print. How do I resolve this?
    Michael

    Were the crop marks printing on all four corners BEFORE you added "Include Slug Area"? In addition to adding the slug area in the print dialog, did you change the Slug Area values in the Document Set Up? Now that it works, is the printing scaled to a smaller size than before?
    Trying to understand why that worked.
    Thanks,

  • Pages won't print in Firefox

    I have several pages that print fine in all browsers except
    Firefox. Either they print the template only or they move the
    contents to a second page leaving only the top image in the
    template on the first piece of paper. I sometimes can fix the page
    but it is never anything I can put my finger on as being one
    solution to all pages. Here are some things that I do that let the
    page print: shrink a picture, change the location of the picture,
    take off a text class designation, move a table from the top of the
    page to the bottom.
    For example this page doesn't print properly:
    http://www.terrauniversal.com/products/GowningProducts/garbparts2.php
    But when I copied the the top table with the text in it and
    pasted it at the bottom of the page, then it does print. See this

    I'd really like to know what is going on.

    Strange - my FF2 print preview showed it ok, and so did IE7,
    and Opera
    - but IE6 print preview didn't display a thing.
    First thing I always check is validation - and it fails
