Pages erases versioning information when file is modified (CVS, Subversion)

Due to the document format (which is not a file, but a directory) versioning information from Subversion (or CVS if you like that one more) is getting removed every time you save your document (read this one: http://www.statusq.org/archives/2005/09/02/780/). This is because the entire directory is rewritten when saving a document. All information stored in .svn oder .cvs files will be lost.
I do not know why Apple is not able to fix that. It works for Keynotes where they reuse the old directory structure and the fixed it for EOModeler a long time ago (as you can read from the WebObjects 5.2.4 Update Release notes: "3761296: TITLE: EOModeler loses track of Subversion hidden folder in eomodeld folder ... RESOLUTION: This issue has been resolved).
The problem still exists in Pages 2.
I really hope that someone important reads this and that this issue will be resolved soon. Without being able to manage your documents in SVN or CVS you cannot use Pages in a (semi-)professional environement.

What happens to versions data when files are deleted ?

When working on a document with an application using autosave, I understand modifications are regularly saved together with the actual state of the file. When such file is dulicated, history and the different versions are not duplicated.
My question is, what happens to the versions data if the original file is deleted and is the space used for all versions reclaimed ?
Working with big documents on SSD disk could be a problem seems to me.

As soon as data is deleted from the cube, Data will not be available for reporting. because for any reports data is fetched from Tables, for DSO they will fetch from Active table.
So you will receive a message Data not found, if the data is deleted from Cube's table.

Audit logs on Windows 2008 works different when file is modified from UNC path

Hello All,
Here i have a strange situation with the generation of audit logs when folders\files are changed locally(my computer) on the server (vs) from the UNC path
(\\servername\drive$\folder\....).
File Server : Windows 2008 R2.
Audting enabled and SACL set on the folder level.
Enabled advanced auditing for Audit Object Access and enabled the force sub category audit settings on vista \ window 2008 policy via GPO and also verified that the sub category is set.
also set SACL on one folder on the R drive. (\\servername\r$\<folder>\<audited folder>

Enable the following auditing on the server either through domain
policy or local policy:
Audit logon events - Success
Audit Object Access - Success

How do I set my older version of Pages as the default when opening files?

I currently have two versions (Pages '08 3.0.3 and Pages '09 4.2) on my computer. I am finding that when others send me a document created in the older version of Pages, when I open it, it converts it to the newer version. If I make changes and send it back, that same person with only the older version cannot open the file. I know I can duplicate the file, and save a copy as the Pages '08 version when sending the file back, but I'd like to skip this step. Remembering to control click each new file to choose which version I want to open the file in seems like an extra, unecessary step as well. I simply want the files sent to me to open in the older version, so I don't need to go through these extra steps each time. Anyone have any suggestions or tips for me? Any help would be appreciated. I do try to keep Pages 08 open on my computer, but I sometimes find that my documents will still convert to the 09 version upon opening them, even if I don't make any changes or even save the file myself. I also find that I do not get the "save as" option in Pages 09 when it is not a file I created myself. You wouldn't think a basic word processing file would have this much trouble opening in a version that really isn't that much older. I've been doing a lot of copying and pasting into the older version when I send files out. This really makes the 09 version inconvenient to me. If it weren't for all of my files that now require the 09 version to open (because of this default setting everything I open seems to become an 09 version) I'd get rid of this version all together, as it is not compatible for so many other people with whom I work!

I have 3.6 & am trying to upgrade to current version. When trying to update didn't work, I trashed 3.6 & tried new install. Keep getting "File not Found" page.

Could not update from 3.6 (said I was not authorized). Tried trashing 3.6 and accompanying files and do a clean install of new version. When I click to download I am redirected to a Mozilla "File not found" page. From there I try clicking on Firefox and downloading the English(US) for OSX file and it directs me back to the same file not found page. I have tried this several times.

Where are you trying to download Firefox from? You should be using [http://www.getfirefox.com www.getfirefox.com], the official Firefox Download site.

Getting version information on jar files

I want to install the Portal Tools Application from PDK. There are some files to be copied to subdirectories of ORA_HOME. Some of the files like jewt4.jar already exists and according to the install guide you have to leave existing files unchanged when they are newer then the PDK files. To get version information you can ,according to the guide, check if the "Jar file contains a file with a version number , e.g., ...." How do I check this? Why is it not enough to check the last modified date of the files in explorer?

It's not enough to check the last modified date because this can easily be changed, e.g. by using 'touch'.
To check for these version numbers, in a unix environment do:
jar -tvf | grep version
In a windows env, open the jar file up in WinZip and scroll through the members, looking for a likely candidate.

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Pages 5 can not open Pages 5.1 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Note: Apple has removed over 90 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

Retrieve "real" resource when setting an older version of a file as current

Hello,
I need to log access to versioned files, and I have the following problem:
With a versioned resource, when the user duplicates an older version of a document as being the current version, the KM sends a "COPY" (ResourceEvent.COPY) Event informing this change. Apparently what the KM does is simply to copy the resource from its version repository to the current folder. The problem is that the resource associated with this event (delivered by IResourceEvent.getResource() )is the version of the resource that the KM saved in /<prefix>/.system/versions/<number>/<number>/<ID>.
Therefore to log this event, I would need a way to get the "real" resource from the KM, to which this version belongs. Does anyone have any idea how to do that?

thanks for the quick reply. However this still doesn't quite solve my problem. What I really need is to get a hold of a IVersionHistoryResource object, so that I can call its getRootVersionRID() method.
The IVersionResource offers a method called getVersionHistoryResource(), but it only delivers an IResource as result.
Any ideas?

Same problem here (no graphics in header or footer) and the problem has been reported months ago. It is another bug/feature lost when Apple moves from 09 to the iCloud-compatible versions. Complain to Apple, you may have better chance than me and they may finally listen to their users....

When trying to install ITunes I get: The version of this file is not compatible...

I've been trying to install a new version of ITunes on my computer for over a month now with no luck. Here's the message I get every time: "The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32bit) or 64 (64 bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."
I had the previous version of ITunes on my system and it was working fine, except that is was having an issue with my DVD burner. It was a real bear to remove from my computer in order to upgrade. Now I can't get any version of ITunes to install. :-(
I am running an AMD Phenom IIX4 965 Processor, 64-bit Operating System. The original computer OS was Windows XP Professional 32-bit. I upgraded to Windows 7 Professional 64-bit over a year ago and didn't have any trouble with it until this last attempted update. Help!

I have the exact same problem as well. I've been having this since I tried installing the 3.0 drivers for Bootcamp drivers. The 2.2 drivers worked perfect, and I wasn't getting this error. I'm pretty sure It's something in the drivers as well, but nailing it would be very hard. It also doesn't appear to happen to everyone with similar spec'd Macs either. It's weird. When I have finished working on an image in Photoshop and I hit the save button it goes instead to the "save as" screen. This never happened in previous Photoshop versions. When I get to Lightroom, I have a grey screen the says "File could not be found."

When I select the correct image, I get a message that it is not the same file name but I am eventually able to access the image. Needless to say this is having a negative impact on workflow!

The problem with write permissions for the OneDrive folder only shows up in Lightroom 6's export dialogue, that's why it's to irritating. Lightroom 5.7.1 is not having that problem nor does the file explorer. The problem also exists on both of my machines. First time using Adobe Premiere Pro (and I'm using the trial version). When I try to import an mts video file (and tried to import an mp4 file as well), I get the error: Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014.2 has stopped working. And then the program crashes. Please help.

Welcome to the Adobe forums.
Please try the steps mentioned below and check if it works for you.
1. Launch Premiere Pro and create a Project, go to File menu>Project Settings>Renderer and change the Renderer to Software only mode, delete previews if you get a prompt and then try to import the clip.
2. If step 1 fails or the Renderer is already on Software only mode, go to Start Menu and search for Device Manager, go into Display Adapters and Right click on the Graphics card to select Update driver software option, on the next screen choose "Browse my computer for driver software", then choose "Let me Pick from a list..." option and from the list select "Standard VGA Graphics adapters. You might need to change the screen resolution of your screen and once done restart the machine again.
Launch Premiere Pro and import the clip to check.
