Pages file has disappeared

I have a deadline in 3 days and my work, 'Journal', a pages document has been replaced with a folder 'Journal.pages' with the following file structure:
Data (folder)
Index.zip
Metadata (folder)
preview-micro.jpg
preview-web.jpg
preview.jpg
Is there any way to get my document back? This was the only copy, which I know was very stupid of me, but if anyone could help that would be great.
I didn't delete the file, nor empty my trash but the file is nowhere to be seen. It is not even in 'recent files' when I open pages.

Pages files are "packages", which basically means they are a collection of files and folders pretending to be one file to the user. There is a flag in the file system that maintains this, sometimes known as the bundle flag. It looks like this flag has been cleared.
If you have Xcode installed, you can set the flag with the command line tool setFile. If you don't have that, there are some third-party utilities that can do this.
Another thing you might try is changing the file extension of "Journal.pages" to "Journal.pages.bundle". And then back to pages.

I struggle with hard drive space even without Time Machine. Do you know if there would be any way to recover the document from this folder? That is, if the content is even still in there.
Files with no backup are waiting to be lost. Buy an external drive, at least 3 times the size of your data, and plug it in. Otherwise, you will be back here with worse problems.

My Pages icon has disappeared and I cannot access the program

Have you tried opening Spotlight (Command + spacebar or click the magnifying glass icon near the right end of the menu bar) and typing "pages" into it to see if it finds Pages?
If it is found and the problem is that it isn't showing on the Dock, you can open Finder and then use the Finder "Go" menu and click Applications, locate Pages and drag it to the Dock.

  • Since upgrading to Mountain Lion bluetooth file has disappeared!

    Hi All,
Since upgrading my iMac from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion at the weekend the bluetooth folder in preferences has disappeared. My magic mouse doesn't work properly ie the 'touch' on top of the mouse no longer works for swiping or scrolling down.
I have checked on this forum and many others and the suggestions which seem to have worked for many are reset PRAM and trash the bluetooth plist folder of which I have tried and this still doesnt resolved the issue nor brought back the bluetooth file in preferences.
I am at my whits end with this and thoroughly disappointed that this has happened.
Has anyone got any other ideas of a known fix? Is Apple aware of this problem?
    Cheers

    Hi rkaufmann87,
Thanks for your advice. I ran the verify disk and it told me that my macintosh HD was corrupt and advised me to repair the disk (cmd R upon start up), so I did this and still no Bluetooth file in preferences.
Perhaps now I should reinstall  Mountain Lion?
    Thanks

  • Question : In "Mail" my entire SAVED FILE HAS DISAPPEARED....how can I retrieve it?

In MAIL my heading for SAVED ACCOUNT for myself and my husband has completely disappeared with all our saved stuff.  How can I retrieve these saved files? thanks for anyone's help.

As the link says: "Make sure Mail is the current app."
Once you open Time Machine, you will see your folder list on the left like this just as you do when not in Time Machine:
If you have more than one "Sent" mailbox (as I do above), just click the little flippy triangle to the left of "Sent" to see them all.

    Hey,
I was creating a totally new version to my webpage and now I do not have a welcome page so it does not load up. What do I do?
    Chris

    Hi Chris
How are you publishing? To folder or to .mac?
You dont need a Welcome page as such, the top page of your site in the iWeb Site Organizer is the default Welcome page.
Did you add a second site in iWeb or did you delete the old one and start from scratch? If you added a second one in Site Organizer and you publish to .mac, select the second site in iWeb and then click on Visit.
If you have published two sites then your urls become:
    http://web.mac.com/YourUserName/iWeb/Site1
    http://web.mac.com/YourUserName/iWeb/Site2
Make sure that the W in iWeb is a capital, also the uppermost site in the Site Organizer does actually retain the short url of http://web.mac.com/YourUserName

  • Help - I deleted a Numbers document from my IPhone in ICloud and every document in my Finances file has disappeared off my IMac

I went to update my IPhone4 and got the message that there was not enough space and to delete something from ICloud. So I went to ICloud and deleted a Numbers document that I didn't need anymore - it seems that all my Numbers financial document have disappeared - all my Monthly and Annual spreadsheets for the past few years, including a spreadsheet with House expense - I really need all these spreadsheets. How do I get them back?

If you are backing up your Mac using Time Machine, open Finder and navigate to "~/Library/Mobile Documents/com~apple~Numbers/Documents" (without the quotes) from the Go>Go to Folder menu.  Then open Time Machine and go back to an earlier point in time until you see your Numbers documents, select them and click Restore, then exit Time Machine.

  • My pages 08' has disappeared from my Mac, i looked up everywhere

Since it dissapeared, i have looked everywhere and i thought to buy it again by my MAC OS X is a version 10.6.8 and i need to buy the new memory thing to upgrade and then be able to buy the new pages, and i dont have the money or time to buy the memory, as i need madly to finish my project and i am not able to open the previous work i have done. please can someone tell how i can do to get back pages 08, to reinstall it???
    i appreciate your help.

This is obviously not a Pages problem.
Sounds like you are having major hard drive problems.
Run Disk Utility Verify/Repair over your drive, but first backup all your work to the external hard drive if you can.
Why did you buy the drive from Apple? They madly over charge for such things. Any external USB hard drive would do the job.
Take your Mac into Apple and get them to fully check it out for you.

  • Everything saved in PAGES has disappeared!! Help!

everything i PAGES saved has disappeared!! Help!!"

    Hi again AnonyMouse,
Can you startup to your install cd/dvd and Repair Disk using Disk Utility?
Insert your insall cd/dvd #1 and then restart while holding down the "c" key. Hold down till you see the bootup grey screen and the spinning cursor and then release.
When booted to the installer splash screen, go directly to the top Menu Bar and select Disk Utility from the Installer Menu. When Disk Utility opens select your HD in the left pane and then the First Aid tab and then click on Repair Disk.
When Disk Utility finishes, note any errors it reports, and if any are not repaired rerun. Quit Disk Utility and then quit the Installer and the computer will restart.
If the computer boots back up to your normal desktop you can then run Repair Permissions from your HD/Applications folder/Utilities/DiskUtility/Repair Permissions.

  • Pages file sizes in Lion

Anyone have any idea how big files will get using AutoSave/Versions in Lion or if there are any safeguards to prevent the file size from spiraling out of control?
For example, I write short stories and novels with Pages (I used to use Word 2004 pre-Lion, but that's a Rosetta app), and the files I deal with are just text and formatting. I have one .DOC file from before my Pages adoption that is only 120K, and I have a .pages file that is much shorter in word count than the 120K .DOC file, but as I've been working on it for the past two weeks, that .pages file has grown to 236K, nearly twice the size of its longer .DOC counterpart.
What worries me is when I end up working on the same file for a couple of years (think 150,000 words or more), how big is it going to be then? Does AutoSave/Versions act like Time Machine and only keep the most recent X months' worth of edits to keep the file at a reasonable size? Or am I going to end up with a text file that has ballooned up to 20 or 30 MB in size because of the several years' worth of versions it has kept that whole time?

    Hi Matt,
the problem is that a pages 'file' isn't a file at all: it's a folder full of smaller files. Your finder is probably set up NOT to display folder sizes (I believe this is the default since it uses up system resources/CPU calculating them all).
Go to Finder>View>Show View Options then check the box at the bottom: 'calculate all sizes'. If your pages docs are all in one folder, then you can limit this preference to 'this window only' and save the system calculating folder sizes everywhere. The finder will now display your pages 'file' sizes (you may need to close the finder window and reopen it).
Hope this makes your yinyang feel better.

  • Everything from my timeline has disappeared (Adobe CC Premiere Cloud)

The timeline panel is there, but everything that I've put in it (clips, audio, various media, and transitions for them) are all gone. I've saved numerous times and made copies to the same project but everything in every single duplicate file has disappeared.
I checked the file size of my project and although the timeline is blank, it's file size is about 400kb or so. A new project that also a blank timeline is about 37kb, I believe. I've never received any error messages while I was working on it or while I was in the midst of saving it. In the two years I have been working with Premiere, this is definitely the first time I've ever had this issue, and it's been going on for about three days now.
What am I doing wrong? Is it possible to revive my work? This is about the third time I had to re-do the entire thing because everything in the timeline just vanished. I would really hate to spend some more time having to do it over again because it's very time consuming and I am running out of time (this project is due on Monday. It's Saturday now).

Adobe Gamma was discontinued with CS3, the linked thread explains the details.
Adobe gamma was never meant to be used for LCD monitors, only for the old fashioned CRT monitors (the ones that look like old-style televisions) and it won't work at all in Vista or Windows 7, so adobe has stopped including it. I can't remember offhand but it may be on the PSE 6 install disc as an extra (it was either PSE 5 or 6 where they included it but stopped installing it automatically), but in any case you would be better off checking to see if your video driver includes a calibration utility (most do) and using that instead, unless you are running XP or earlier on a CRT monitor.
Is Adobe Gamma not installed with CS3?

  • Windows Server 2012 - Page File Recommendations

I need to know Microsoft's recommendations for the page file settings in Windows Server 2012. In previous versions of windows it has been calculated at 1.5 x RAM but i cant find any recommendations when it comes to Server 2012.

The rules/practices for setting page files  on virtual memory systems has remained the same for years and years.  What has changed is the cost to implement a solution.  As noted earlier, the old method of calculation was built on the fact
that memory was an expensive commodity when compared to the cost of the disk.  Even back then, when memory was so expensive, the best solution was still to add memory.  But, people wanted to implement a less costly solution.  Microsoft published
an article for Windows XP/Windows Server 2003 64-bit.  Nothing in the process of determining the optimal page file has changed, but the cost of the solution has changed.  Therefore, you can follow the instructions in this Microsoft support article
    - http://support.microsoft.com/?id=889654 - to determine the appropriate page file size.  If you want to really learn about what is going on, read
http://blogs.technet.com/b/markrussinovich/archive/2008/11/17/3155406.aspx.  I think you should be able to trust Mark Russinovich' word.
Today, for servers with 64 GB of RAM, I generally set up a page file of 2-4GB.  On a server with 256 GB of RAM, I set up a page file of 2-4 GB of RAM.  This is because Microsoft also included new capabilities in what is captured, allowing you to
capture just the most important stuff that is in memory when the system crashes instead of all memory.  Windows operates most efficiently if it has a page file.  The thing is that if you have enough memory on your system to run the load you are putting
on it, the primary purpose of sizing the page file comes down to determining how much of the memory you want to capture should the system crash.  If I am running something like Hyper-V, and I have 256 GB of memory, almost all that memory is allocated
to VMs.  That means that the contents of that memory is totally useless to find the root cause of a crash.  That information is most likely going to be found in the first 512 MB of memory.  Switch to a different application like SQL.  In
the case of SQL, again, the operating system is taking up the first part of memory and SQL is generally using the rest of memory as cache.  What is in cache is of little or no interest to determine why the system crashed, so why build a page file to capture
    it?
