.pages file keeps growing larger, despite deleting big jpgs?

I'm trying to make my file smaller by shrinking some of my jpgs and putting them in fresh. ...but every time I delete one, and put it back in, my file GROWS! My finished product was only about 35MB a few days ago, and now it's up to 48MB! Please help me. It's kind of like, even though the pics are now smaller, pages is still saving the history of a bigger file being there?
I do not have the "back up previous version when saving" box checked in the preferences, if this a factor.

An html page is not as dimensionally as large as 4 letter size pages and it gets uploaded piecemeal.
You simply have a lot of graphics, several which are big on the page, overlapping lots of other images. I would have combined them in Photoshop and made them one flattened image.
Did you crop and change the format for the cartoons? I noticed after I replied to your eMail they were unchanged as well.
All the shadows and special effects are adding to the overhead as well. Thjey get turned into bitmap images in the pdf.
Efficient graphics are flat color, smooth vertical linear gradients, vector (pdf) and fonts. Text is relatively small, so use text to add contrast and interest, remembering it can be colored for emphasis. Keep the number of fonts to 3-4 both to make the pdf smaller and to clean up the design.
Be restrained. If you add everything plus the kitchen sink, don't be surprised if the removals van is sitting low on the suspension.

  • Login.keychain.sb files keep growing?

The Keychains folder is ~/Library/ contains 1538 entries such as login.keychain.sb-ff678f7f-4MV5Ub and metadata.keychain.sb-1dcddc31-tBkSkj  plus the login.keychain and the metadata.keychain files.
The folder is 104.3 MB and keeps growing.
Is it safe to trash all the .sb files? What are the caveats?
    Thanks

The files are written at boot time, every time I boot. 21 login.keychain.sb files, such as the one above, are written.
I haven't seen any metadata file (yet ...) nor noticed any strange behavior after pulling all the keychain and metadata files out of the Keychain folder.
I would like to know what those files are for and why Apple has decided that they need to be there .......
BTW, nothing like this happens on the HD partition that runs 10.6.8.

  • A pages File I was working on deleted by other device

When working on ipad in pages. The file I was working on suddenly deleted and I received message that the file was deleted by another device. Can file be recovered?

You can also make back ups of documents whilst working on a mobile device, just share the document to iTunes. Back ups via Time Machine are the easiest solution, but this way it also covers the possibility that documents created or edited on the mobile don't get synced properly to the Mac.

  • Large Pages files

Why does Pages make such large files? I create a text Pages document (no graphics; single font) on my iPad, then upload to Dropbix. When I look at this one-page file in Dropbox on my MacBook Air, it's 1.2 MB! So I export it to MS Word and it becomes a 60 KB file. What's the deal with Pages creating such huge files?
    Thanks.
    Harvey

When you open a template the Pages file includes those alternate layouts that you can pick from.
They are still there in the .pages file in case you open it again and want to select from them.
I really don't know any other method of getting rid of them in Pages for iOS.
In Pages '09 for OSX you can Manage the Sections/Pages and delete them.
That is the trouble with Apple's superficial (but not in practice) one-size-fits-all marketing spiel.

    Hi Crushed,
Numbers doesn't have pages. It has a canvas that holds objects such as tables and charts.
Drag the objects from the bottom of the canvas onto the white space above. That will reduce the number of "pages" (sheets of paper) that will print.

  • When exporting files to web pages Aperture keeping losing files, so for instance, if I choose to export 600 images to a new web page, it might do 524 images but not the full 600. I've tried resetting Aperture, it's the latest version etc etc. Help please!

If anyone can help me with this I would be seriously grateful.
When exporting mutliple files to web pages Aperture keeping losing files, so for instance, if I choose to export 600 images to a new web page, it might make 524 pages but not the full 600. I've tried resetting Aperture and its persmission and am using the latest version of 3.
I have 3600 images which I need to upload as sublfolders, each with their own URL and at the moment Aperture is dropping of anything from 1 to 90 images.
This is critical as people need to see each and every on of these images online. So if a file has 600 photos in it, Aperture should make a URL with 600 full image pages. And this is what it's not doing. On small files, say 30 or so it seems to work well, it's when it gets to more than that the problem starts.
I've used Aperture in the past under previous versions and not had this problem.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks.
    Bob.

    Hi Jack,
Thanks for responding (as it seems as though no one else has been able to provide any insight as of yet)! Not sure if you saw my recent post, but the version of Aperture on the 2008 MacBook has been upgraded to 3.1.2 (not sure how; I bought it in 2009, but only have OS X 10.5.8... which apparently can't house 3.1.2 of Aperture, but hey, like many other anomalies i'm encountering, I'm no longer surprised!). I am unable to upgrade it any further, as it warns me that my OS X does not fit the requirements. I exported the projects as libraries; however, like I posted before, apparently these are from too old of a version for the new Aperture (3.3.1) to handle and import.
It's getting to the point where I'd almost pay to upgrade the OS X on my previous MacBook (10.5.8) to something newer in order to THEN update Aperture to a newer version; however, my previous MacBook simply cannot handle this (the specs are awful -- hence my decision to save up and upgrade to the newest MBP with Retina).
I've spent hours upon hours transferring files, libraries as projects, previews, versions, even masters (though, apparently some of them aren't accessible?) with no luck. I've rebuilt the library and reprocessed everything. And this is all after having to return one MBP already since Aperture 3.3.1 is glitch-y as it is, and froze everything for having a "managed library". So, now that I know that I have to deal with a referenced library in Aperture... I just need to actually transfer my previous library to my new one (hopefully WITH adjustments since these are years worth of photos and work).
Again, any help is appreciated. I've lost enough sleep, time, and vision health over this at this point.
Also, I know Migration Assistant is an option, I was told that it wouldn't work properly anyway because of the different operating systems, and the potential for problems.

If you still have all devices, just delete all. They will re backup.

  • I deleted a very important pages file from my iPad and I need it back

I deleted a very important pages file from my iPad and I need it back pronto! I just updated my iPad without a computer and it had the file there. I need to know how to get back the file very quickly.
    thx in advance

Thne unfortunately, your document is gone. You can restore lost or deleted documents from backups if you have backups - and as long as the backup contains the document - but if you did not copy the file to your computer - or backup the iPad, the document is gone.
You really should start backup up your iPad. You can sign up for a free 5GB iCloud account right on the iPad and then you can use iCloud for backing up. You can do it right on the iPad.

  • Mysterious files being created in pages. Unable to unlock or delete them.

Mysterious files being created in pages. Unable to unlock or delete.

It turns out that you cannot update or delete a Syndication Map that is currently assigned to a Port in the Repository.  You must remove the map from the Port in the Repository and then you can change and/or delete them.
    1) bring up the MDM Console
    2) Unload the repository
    3) drill into Admin ~ Port
    4) Remove or change the map associated to the port
    5) Load the repository
    6) Then you go into Syndicator and either Update the Map or Delete it
It had nothing to do with security.
    Thank you for your help.

  • Problems to delete big *.tif files

I have problems to delete big *.tif filese.
At first Windows delete it, but if i pressed F5 then the files are not deleted. I have tryed to delete it with and without Shift + Del its always the same.
When i delete this file many times then it would be deleted.
A other Problem with this big files is that windows open a dialogbox and calculate the time that needed to delete the tif file.
But i can wait 2 hours and more, nothing is done by windows. In the dialogbox dosn`t change anything.
    Have anyone an Idea?
    Thank you in advanced.
    Daniel

    Hi,
Does it happen to other files, just *.tif files? Generally speaking, When deleting a folder, the calculation time depends on not only the
file size but the file numbers of the folder. So you can delete sub-folders separately.
Also, you can try to use a popular methods to fix the issue. Here is the steps:
       1.  Right click on the file.
       2.  Click Properties
       3.  Click
    Advanced
       4.  Under File Attributes uncheck
Allow this file to have contents indexed in addition to file.
Also, you can take the following steps to fix this issue:
    Step 1:
You may try creating a new user profile to see if the same problem occurs. If not then it could be a corruption/permissions problem
    of the old user profile.
To create a new user account
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/Create-a-user-account
    Step 2:
If the new user account works fine then the previous account was corrupt, you may follow the link given below to fix the corrupt
    user profile.
    Fix a corrupted user profile
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/Windows7/Fix-a-corrupted-user-profile
In addition, the issue can be related to third-party components, especially file system filter drivers, such as anti-virus drivers. In this situation,
I suggest you can delete the files on Safe Mode. If on Safe Mode It works fine, you could perform
clean boot to check the result.
    Hope it helps.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
If you mean you deleted the files from Pages on your phone whilst using iCloud, then yes they will disappear from Pages on your iPad too.
If you simply deleted the app from your phone, if you were using iCloud then they should not have disappeared from your iPad.
It's not clear from your post, which of these you did.

How can I cancel or delete a movie I tried to download to my iPhone?  The file is too large and iTunes is hung up during the process of downloading.  I've tried to swipe from right to left but that doesn't produce a delete button....

Slide your finger across the videos' listing in your iPhone Videos App and tap the red "Delete" button that appears.
