No, you have to buy the OSX version for your MacBook Pro from the Mac App Store.
Pages for iPad (iOS) is different than Pages for Mac (OSX).

I installed pages on my iPad Mini. I am setting up a trip report template to use on an upcoming trip. Thought it would be easier to set up on my iMac but realized that I might have to purchase Pages ($19.99) for iMac. I have used Word (for iMac) for years. Should I stick with Pages on iPad and develop my trip report there? Will I be able to transfer trip report to iMac later? No problem purchasing Pages for iMac, just wonder if it is necessary. Without Pages for OSX, you would be left with transferring the files between two formats, which could prove to be problematic, depending on the complexity of the spreadsheet (formulas, pivot tables, conditional formatting, etc.). Take some time to experiment a bit, both with importing and exporting the file from the iPad, and possibly settings it up from scratch (or reworking it after the import). A relatviely simply spreadsheet may not present a problem in any scenario, but without knowing the specifics of your template, its hard to say. I have found that using Pages for OS X is a bit less combersome for personal files than Excel for MAC in conjunction with the iPad (but have been able to make it work for some business files to a degree).

There are several applications available that remove duplicates, but I am not sure which ones work or don't work. I want information on this, but most importantly I want to understand how to fix this problem permanently. Also, I read somewhere that Mac's new operating system, Lion, can help deal with duplicates. I don't have Lion, but I would be willing to get it, if this would fix the problem.

Had the same problem with 4 devices (two computers, an iPhone and an iPod). The solution is simple: open the Address Book application in your mac, ask it to locate duplicate entries (under one of the top menu items, "edit" I think), and then ask it to consolidate them: it took me all of three seconds after I figured it out: worked like a charm! PS: if you have more than one mac with unconected Address Books, repeating the operation in the second one may be a good idea.

I have signed in and out of the app store and the password is correct. I have tried both kinds of reboot but that did nothing. I have tried to update the apps by connecting phone to Mac book pro...it shows the apps being download on the Mac book and says it will sync them to my phone but it does not. Everything else on my phone works fine.

No problem, Peter. iBooks Author makes a lot of things much easier than trying to grapple with a standard epub, but it also has some big limitations, like iPad only, and ibookstore only.
EDIT It's not really suitable for something like a novel, for example, although it's great when you need lots of illustrations and movies and such.
