Pages gone

I updated to 10.6.6 and since then Pages will not open. I get a message box that says "Pages cannot open because of a problem". I have deleted the pref's plist & repaired permissions which neither one helped. Before reinstalling, should I trash the old app folder along with the app support folder in Library? The weird part of this whole mess is numbers and keynote are both fine after the update, pages is the only one affected.

If you do delete iWork don't delete from Library > Application support that is in Users > your name. You will lose your custom templates. It is the Macintosh HD > Library > Application support > iWork '09 that should be deleted.

Where has the File Sharing page gone to in iTunes 11?

My iPad is a first generation so it on IOS 5 and I am running iTunes 11. Shows up for me as I said above. Maybe somebody else knows whay it doesn't work for you.
Probably try all the usual suspects Power on and Off for ipad 9 Not Standby, hold down Power button until a red slider appears. The when off keep it pressed for 2-3 secs and iPad will reboot.
Also switch of iTunes and Computer and the switch back on.
Never know it might help certainly wouldn't hurt

After I've signed into DPS Dashboard and I go to notification page, and the page opens up blank. And I can see the alerts in the console as:

I tried signing in with another account, but it was the same result.

Could have been an intermittent issue, I don't see the blank page at the moment. Let us know if you still see the same result, perhaps clearing the browser caches might help or try another browser

  • IWeb functions no longer work - web pages gone!! HELP!

I was working in iWeb this evening and when I went back to finish it... everything was gone!!!! I can open the program but all the menu items are dimmed and I cannot start a new page or access a previous page. Neither can I find what I was working on. I lost several hours of work!!! I also lost all the other pages that I built for clients. I think I probably still have them published on the web but no backup here. What kind of a two bit program is this?! Is there anything I can do other than throw out the program and reinstall it? If anyone has any ideas, I would great appreciate it.
Also is there a better web building program out there for the Mac. Something more reliable? At this point I'm about ready to find a stable program for the PC (shutter at the thoughts of that!!!)
    Thanks in advance

I suggest you first see what key iWeb Domain file(s) you have on your Mac's internal HD. The Domain file is normally located in the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder (although it can be moved). Since you may have multiple Domain files in different locations, you could use Spotlight to search for them — they have an extension (usually hidden) of:
    .sites2
But Spotlight doesn't look in all areas of the hard drive — so if no luck, download and run Find File to search for ".sites2". ...If you find any .sites2 files, back them up now before proceeding:
_iWeb: Backing up your Domain file_
By the way, a Domain file should open up in iWeb when double-clicked.

The following trick has worked for some:
Quit iWeb. Start iPhoto. Select a couple of photos, click on the iWeb icon at lower right and choose Photo Page. iWeb will open up and invite you to choose a template for your new Photos page. Choose any template so that the page is created and then delete that newly created page.
...Now perhaps things are no longer greyed out in iWeb. If not, +"A lot of problems can be solved simply by..."+ Read more in the "Fix iWeb" section here:

Only iWeb's Domain file can be opened in iWeb. See this Apple doc on How to back up MobileMe data — in regard to the Domain file, it says:
If you no longer have this file, you can view your currently published pages and manually recreate them within iWeb, but there is no way to import published pages back into iWeb.
You can manually back up the Domain file, or use Backup to back it up.
Paragraph 2.3 of this FAQ page gives some tips on how to use published files, graphics, photos, etc., to help rebuild the site from scratch:

You could take a look at Sandvox Pro — you may particularly appreciate its integrated search engine optimization:

No software can be guaranteed to be reliable and your Mac's internal HD may crash at any time. Even if you use what is considered by many to be "reliable", you still need to protect your data by backing it up. On the Mac, you have several options: Time Machine and the following free apps can also be used to regularly create a bootable clone of your entire internal HD on an external drive:
    http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper
    http://www.bombich.com/software/ccc.html
...then if your internal HD fails, you re-boot with the Option key held down. Your Mac will start into Startup Manager, where you can use the arrow keys to select a Mac OS X volume to start from, i.e. your bootable clone. Besides the advantage of not losing any valuable data, you can continue working and use Disk Utility app in Applications > Utilities to diagnose the problem.
And this free SMARTReporter may give you an early warning of impending hard drive failure:
    http://www.corecode.at/smartreporter
...There are only two types of HD: Those that have crashed and those that haven't ...yet.

  • Photo Pages gone

For some reason on my iWeb site, all of my photo pages have disappeared. The rest of the pages are there, but if you go to a page that has photo pages under it, the boxes which link to the picture pages under it are gone.
    Any ideas?

If the fix that the thread Cyclosaurus sent you do doesn't work you can revert back to FF 2.0.0.14 from this site: http://mac.oldapps.com/firefox.php.

  • Tiles on home page gone :(

when I opened my firefox there were tiles that were links that I assigned... bank, netflix xfinity... Now they are gone and I have no idea how to get them back. All I had to do was right click on the screen and add the url... now... nothing!!!!
    Please help

Could you check whether it was Firefox's built-in "new tab" page? That should display when you type '''about:newtab''' in the address bar and press Enter.
If it was that one, you can make it your home page using the methods in this article: [[How to set the home page]].
If it was NOT that one, you might have been using an extension with a name like Speed Dial or FastDial to build that page. I don't see anything like that listed in your More System Details, so I'm not sure which one to recommend.
Or you may have been using My Yahoo or another website as your home page. If you check your "most visited" pages, maybe it's one of those? You can check the "Most Visited" entry on the Bookmarks Toolbar or Bookmarks Menu (I can't remember where it normally appears).

  • Where has the Calendars, Contacts check boxes page gone in iTunes 11.1.2

Since the new update with Maverick, the page has gone so my ipad isn't syncing Calendars and its Contacts have been deleted. I back up to computer and not ICloud

    Couldn't agree more.
Typical Apple "Here's a free update to Mavericks but we're not going to tell you that it mucks up syncing contacts via mac" they just let you find out the hard way, after you have a problem perhaps.
I did notice in iTunes there was a tab missing but didn't realise what it was till my son had a problem getting back his contacts as he's not on the cloud.
What else I wonder will just not appear when required.

  • Blog page gone blank

My blog page has gone blank - on iWeb and when opened in Firefox. I don't know when this happened as the entry pages are still ok. I added another blog and wondered if this had an impact? How can I get it back or recreate a new opening blog page without messing up all the entries? Any help would be appreciated
    Thanks

Your Public Profile indicates you're running Mac OS X (10.4.10) — if that's true, you should upgrade to 10.4.11 via  menu > Software Update... and then update your Public Profile.
And if you prefer not to wait for a possible specific suggestion regarding your blog, and you're publishing to MobileMe, their live chat support is now 24/7 — see this announcement.

  • 2 questions. can i get rid of the " thousands of add ons" dialogue box below my browser? i find it annoying, pointless and it feels like a commercial and second i want the about mozilla text at the bottom of the page gone can these 2 things be removed?

just want those 2 things to not be on my homepage. i know how to use the add ons link in the options panel why do i need a text button on my home page. and also the "about mozilla" button at the bottom of page couldnt this also be in the options panel? i just want a clean looking home page with nothing on it i didnt put there.

There's a lot there, so I'll start with the parts I can answer quickly.
The "ACL found but not expected..." messages can be safely ignored, so says this article
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306925
(look below all the "SUID" examples)
I had changed my Desktop image earlier but when the "Installing 1 item" window came up it changed back to the back ground that you first see on your desktop after installation.
Leopard installs updates a bit differently. If it's simply an application that does not change system files, it installs them like before, without having to restart. If the update is to the system, then you must immediately "restart," It then goes to that stars and purple screen to perform the installation. Before, it would do the installation while you still had control of the Mac and would prompt you to restart when it finished the installation. This change probably make things more secure and reliable, because you aren't allowed to do other things on the Mac while system updates are being installed.
Please post back with the remaining point of concern.

  • XE Database home page gone after APEX 3.2 upgrade

I just upgraded the version of HTMLDB/APEX on my XE database from 2.0 to APEX 3.2. All went well, however, the database home page seems to have disappeared. When I go to Start|Programs|Oracle Database 10g Express Edition|Database home page, I now get the APEX start page. Does the upgrade blow away the Database Home Page?

    Hello:
This is expected. If you decide to upgrade the Application Express within your Oracle Database XE, you will lose the Oracle APEX interface to perform some of your database management functions. This includes the ability to create and alter users, set database parameters, etc. To perform these functions, you will need to use either SQL Developer or SQL*Plus.http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/3.0.1_and_xe.html

  • Iweb pages gone after reinstall-but websites OK

I had to reinstall the OS fresh and it was backed up. However the only thing I lost was the iweb websites in the program. If I log into .mac account, the websites are still there and I can navigate to them on the web. So they are there and working properly.
Now I need to add some photos to these websites that I don't see in iWeb any longer. How do I do that? Can I export these pages into iweb? Can I download something from my .mac account?
What do I do? My wife is going to kill me!!!! Help. please!!

iWeb stores all of the files, images, movies and text in one package file.
Since you didn't back up the User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/Domain.sites2 file (a package) your online files can't be edited and you must recreate them.

  • Help - 20 pages gone missing in my thesis!!

I'm writing my thesis and have been working on it on and off. Last time I worked on it, I did some cut and paste and proof-reading. When I came back to my paper days later, it was 20 pages shorter! Most likely I have forgotten to paste what I cut, otherwise I have no idea what the problem is. Is there any way of finding these pages again? Or possibly tracing an older version of the thesis somewhere?
I'm using Microsoft Word for Mac '98 edition, because I sometimes need to send the document to my PC-using advisor, and it works best this way.
As you can probably tell from my question, I'm a very 'simple' ignorant user, which is why no clever updating has been done to my old, beloved blue iBook. Any help would be much appreciated, but needs to be thorough and in 'plain English'

    Hi,
Pro primo, in order to avoid the risk of overwriting duplicates or file parts, do completely refrain from using the computer in question until you have investigated all options.
Begin by looking for any recovery possibilities offered by your word processor. Study the manuals carefully. Also, this, this or perhaps this web page may contain some information of interest. Otherwise, try the Microsoft support pages and/or forums.
If text recovery is not possible via Word 98, you may be able to find at least portions of previously saved file copies via something similar to UnErase in Norton Utilities.
No need now to tell you about the importance of continously made back-up copies. These can be done in many ways, e.g. by using CD-R discs and USB flash drives. If necessary, email the files to another computer first.
    Good luck!

  • Pages gone missing and items un-editable  Error (WWS-32100) & (WWS-20000)

    Hi,
We have Oracle Portal 9.4 installed and have members of staff editing items and creating pages and web sites.
    This morning we have suddenly developed the following error;
An unexpected error has occurred (WWS-32100) Error (WWS-20000) An unexpected error has occurred (WWS-32100)
This error occurred when someone was editing a page and when someone was editing an item. The item was then unavailable for an undetermined length of time.
Both problems went away without work being done on Portal or any rebooting?
The page and items are now working fine as if there was never problem? Can anyone explain what the problem is?
    Thanks,
    Karl

    Hero,
You may want to try the following SQL to recreate your intermedia index manually:
    1) Create the indexes using the following command in sqlplus while logged into the portal schema:
    set serverout on
    declare
    l_message varchar2(2000);
    begin
    wwv_context.createindex(p_language => 'us', p_message => l_message);
    dbms_output.put_line(l_message);
    end;

  • Pages gone missing during order process

Very strange happenings! I created a photo book. It followed one of the themes that was provided. When I selected BUY BOOK, it went through the process and it deleted a couple of the pages! Now the end of my book has a caption that makes no sense because one of the pictures relevant to the caption is missing. Why would this happen?

How many pages were in the book? You can contact Apple at http://www.apple.com/support/photoservices/ and tell them about the problem. They have been very good at making amends for problem books. Be sure to preview the book as Larry pointed out before reordering. I always do a Print to PDF of the book so I have a permanent record of the book before ordering.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Where has the 'home' page gone in FF4?

I cannot seem to see the 'home page'

If you are looking for the home page button, it has by default been moved to the right hand side of the navigation toolbar. You can move it if you want - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+customize+the+toolbar
