Pages Icon in Dock

I have a new Mackbook Air which I ordered with "Pages" which does not appear in the "Dock" or in the "Launchpad" however, when I enter "Pages" in the search box it will appear and when I click on it "Pages" will appear in the "Dock". How can I keep the "Pages" Icon in the "Dock" so I can just launch from there instead of going to the search mode.
Thanks in advance for any input

Otherwise, when You see the icon in the search box click on it, then with the three fingers gesture drop it in to the Dock.

    Control click the icon.
You will get a local menu. Trigger the menu item "Options"

  • I upgraded to Mavericks & have both old & new Pages icon in dock.

I upgraded to Mavericks & got the new Pages with yellow-pen icon, I still have purple ink-well icon...

    Hello there, pillfield.
The following Knowledge Base article explains the reasoning behind the older version of the iWork applications not being removed from your computer:
About the new iWork for Mac: Features and compatibility
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6049
Since features were still to be rolled out:
In the meanwhile, you can continue to use these features by accessing the previous versions of the iWork applications which remain installed on your Mac. The previous versions can be found in Applications > iWork ’09.
If you are comfortable with the new applications and want to delete the older versions of the iWork applications, this article provides some information on how to do that:
OS X Mavericks: Install, update, and uninstall apps
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14299
You may also want to review this article to remove the Alias of the application from your dock, once you delete the application:
    Mac Basics: The Dock
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2474
To remove an item from the Dock, drag its icon an inch or more off the Dock and wait a couple seconds, then release; the icon will disappear in a poof of smoke. There are some icons that you can't remove from the Dock, such as the Trash and the Finder.
Don't worry, you aren't permanently removing the item from your computer; you simply got rid of its Dock icon. If you want that item back in the Dock, locate the application, file, or folder in the Finder (or with Spotlight), and drag it back into the Dock.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

  • I downloaded Maverick and now I can't open pages from the Dock.  The Pages icon just jumps up and down abut doesn't open.  However, I can one pages by clicking on the App. I have an iMac with iWork 08.

Since upgrading to Maverick from Mountain Lion I am unable to open Pages from the Dock.  When I click on the pages icon in the dock the icon just keeps bouncing up and down.  However, I can open pages by clicking on the icon in the Apps folder.  No problems prior to upgrading to Maverick.

Quit Pages. Drag its icon out of the Dock. Create a new one by dragging the application into the Dock. Test.

  • Some files in "DOCUMENTS" icon in dock won't open. Get msg saying You need a newer version of Pages to open this document." Have Pages 4.1 installed.  Same files will open ok from Finder, Pages App. Recently sync'd with ipad2 (Pages) after iOS5 installed.

Some files in "DOCUMENTS" icon in dock won't open. Get msg saying "You need a newer version of Pages to open this document." Already have Pages 4.1 installed.  Same files will open ok from Finder/Pages App./selected file. Prob not noted until recently after sync'd with ipad2 (Pages) when I installed iOS5. Anyone-- please?!

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5.2 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.2 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Older versions of Pages 5 can not open files from later versions of Pages 5.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud and opened in a newer version of Pages is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed almost 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

  • Pages icon dock keeps hopping

I did the pages update yesterday on my iMac (10.9.1). Today, the pages icon in the dock keeps hopping. Always twice, then stops. Then after a while it hops twice again, then stops. More distracting than anything. Anything I can do to stop it?
BTW, I did shut down computer overnight, which should be the same as restarting  it, right?

Sorry, here's why I learned from a discussion, "Why does app icon keep jumping?"
"Broke down and called Apple.  After dragging the Numbers icon to the trash and then dragging the one from the Applications folder back to the dock, it stopped jumping."

Have upgraded to Snow Leopard. Pages icon still on dock but wont open. Also I cant view my documents. Do I have to buy Pages from ITunes? Thankyou

Good, use the disc. Also do the software updates. You can download from here http://www.apple.com/support/pages/
and you don't need the Pages 4.1/ iWork 9.1 I downgraded from iWork 9.1 to iWork 9.0.5.

  • Lost pages icon in macbook air

I can't find the Pages Icon under Applications in Finder...Find Pages documents created but no "new pages"...
Tried the recommended find..."command&space bar keys together...Under Spotlight I Typed "Page" ...Under "Top Hits" a box dropped down
with the title blank.pages-tes...Still no way to get to Pages to create a new document...On dock Pages icon usually appeared when pressing 2 fingers
    on pad...Really frustrating...

    1. Type "Pages", page fits a lot of other file names
    2. Have you looked inside your Applications foilder
    3. What version of Pages are you looking for?
    4. Are you really on OSX 10.8 not 10.9 Mavericks?
5 How did you install Pages?
6 If you had it before have you looked inside your Applications/iWork folder?

  • Pages disappeared in Dock

Does anyone know how to make the Pages icon reappear in the dock?

    Stacy,
It's very unlikely that you went into your iWork folder and deleted Pages. It is quite likely that you accidently pulled the Pages shortcut icon off your Dock.
let's try this simple experiment to see if Pages is still on your computer. Locate a Pages file on your computer and double-click it. If it opens in Pages, you're not in such bad shape.
So, use Finder to locate a .pages file and try to open it. Let us know what happens.
The next step depends on which version of the operating system you have, so we can wait until you tell us. It involves telling the Dock to keep the icon there even when the app is closed.

  • "x" over pages icon?

While my "Pages" program works fine, along the bottom of my macbook, there is a circle with a "/" through it atop the pages icon.
What does this mean?  As the program works, I haven't paid a lot of attention to it, but it certainly means something negative.
    Any experience with this?

    Very odd experience.
    Summary:
After saving my Pages document, I attempted to remove Pages from the Dock and I was never allowed to do so. When I dragged the icon to the trash (and got a "Remove from Dock" prompt), it would not allow removal.  The icon jumped back on the dock.
When I right-clicked on Pages in dock, selected 'Options', my only options are "Keep in Dock", "Open at Login" & "Show in Finder".
I went to Finder, Applications, iWorks (to see if I had more than one Pages application therein and found only one).
When I closed Finder, the Pages icon no longer had the circle and slash image atop it in the Dock.
For whatever reason, this symbol no longer sits atop the Pages icon in my dock.
Thanks for the assistance, though I don't know how it disappeared!

  • My pages icon has disappeared and I cannot access the program!!

My Pages icon has disappeared and I cannot access the program

Have you tried opening Spotlight (Command + spacebar or click the magnifying glass icon near the right end of the menu bar) and typing "pages" into it to see if it finds Pages?
If it is found and the problem is that it isn't showing on the Dock, you can open Finder and then use the Finder "Go" menu and click Applications, locate Pages and drag it to the Dock.

  • "pages" icon missing in Acro 8

For some reason, the "Pages" icon is missing from the left panel. Signatures and Bookmarks are still there but without the Pages icon I cannot expand the left side panel to add/remove/reorder pages the way I used to.
If I inadvertently removed it (i have no idea how I would have) is there a "restore default interface" function somewhere?
    Thanks!

Try: View > Navigation Tabs > Pages
This is what the menu item is for Acrobat 7 anyway. You may need to drag the window back to the navigation pane to dock it there.

  • Pages icon keeps jumping on my mac?

    how do u fix this?

    Hi falfad,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
Are you asking about the Pages icon on the Dock of your iMac?   Check your Dock preferences in System preferences for your Mac.  You may have your icons set to bounce when you open an application.  Icons on the dock will also bounce when there needs to be some action taken in the application.

  • Why do I have a white circle with a line through it over Pages on my dock?

This happened after I reinstalled Snow Leopard on my MacBook. How do I get rid of it?

You no longer have Pages in your Applications. Pages is not part of Snow Leopard, it's part of iWork. Right click (Control + Click) on the Pages icon in the dock and select Options>Remove From Dock.
