Pages iOS says document unavailable

Dear all,
I recently created a document in pages for iOS on my ipad 2 on a cross-country flight. I just tried to access the document on my iPad 2 in pages and the document is unavailable with a message that an internet connection is required.
I'm figuring this has something to do with having iCloud enabled, but I am trying to open the document on the device on which I created it - and I was ona. Flight with no wifi, so I had airplane mode enabled on the device.
Any hints on what I can do to retrieve my document? I spent five hours working on it...

This is a problem with icloud, DO NOT TURN ICLOUD OFF YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR WORK.
This problem can not be fixed at the moment. Your work is lost until apple undates icloud to be fully funtional with Pages. You can restart, if you remember what you did. But as for recovering your work.... not possable.
Yes this is sad, but use it for reference to TURN OFF ICLOUD when makeing a document if you don't have a 3G device.

I've just updated to Firefox 3.6.2 and when I try to open it all I get is a blank page which says Service Unavailable, try again later.

There are no more details. That's exactly what happens.

I have the same problem. I have never had a problem with Firefox before, and use it as my main browser. However recently, after updating to 3.6.8, its been crashing all the time. Up to 20 times an hour. Usually it occurs when I click a link from a Google search, or in Yahoo. Even if I send in a crash report and restart Firefox, it crashes as soon as the same page is brought back up, or the same link is clicked. I have also had it crash when completely idle. Its very frustrating as it is my favorite browser. I've resorted to using Google Chrome for the time being.

Since I updated my pages to 5.01, I can't open documents created on my iPad today. It says you need a new version of pages to open document. (My computer says it is installed). Has any one encountered this?

Well, here's what I found out that works for me...
I had a Pages icon on my dock, and launching it brought up version 4.3. But I went to my Apps folder and found the new updated icon there and when I launced that it brought up version 5.01. So apparently the Apple update process left two versions launchable on my iMac. Weird...

Since switching to the new pages, my old documents will not open, saying the index.xml file is missing

When attempting to open a file that was created prior to up-grading to the new "pages" it says "cannot open file the index.xml file is missing??" What can I do to fix this??

Reopen these documents with the correct version (5) of Pages. Only Pages '09 documents contain an index.xml, and when you try to open a Pages v5 document in Pages '09, you get that dialog box.

A few general trouble shooting tips that may apply here:
1. If you used Software Update to do the OS update(s) to reach 10.6.7, go to http://support.apple.com/downloads/ and download and apply the Mac OS v10.6.7 Combo Updater. The Combo Updater contains some fixes that were not included in the incremental updaters used by Software Update.
1a. Check that you have the current version of Pages (and of the other iWork applications) installed. All three applications' current version numbers end in .0.5
2. A common cause of malfunctioning applications is a corrupted preferences file (.plist file). Your Pages '09's plist is at yourname > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iWork.pages.plist
Quit Pages, locate the file and Drag it to the Desktop (or to the Trash).
Restart Pages and attempt to open one of the files.
If all is well, Trash the plist file and empty the Trash.
If there's no change, AND you've made changes to the Preferences that you wish to keep, drag the file back to its previous location, replacing any new one that has been created.

I have downloaded Mountain Lion, now when I try to open a document in Pages, it says I need an updated version.

I downloaded Mountain Lion this morning. Now when I try to open a document in Pages, it says I need a newer version. When I go to the App Store, it says I have Pages installed.

What version of Pages are you running now?
The newest update is 4.2 at least for the box set version I have which came out a couple of days ago.

I have the latest iOS my 2 phones. I have the current Pages iOS app on each phone. I have several Pages documents on my iPhones (created there, locally). I have my iPhone(s) set up for iCloud access and I have Settings on the phones set for iCloud access to Documents & Data. The phones are connected to the net.
I have (successfully) done a "Save As" of a document from Pages on my Mac to the iCloud. I have confirmed the Save As worked by logging into my iCloud account (via Safari) and viewing the document in Pages (iWork). I even did some edits there in Safari and created a new version of the Pages document there, so now I have 2 Pages documents in my iCloud account.
However.... when I launch Pages on either of my phones I do not find a way to open (or import) either of those documents from my iPhone.
What am I missing? Thanks!

Thanks. Yes, the Documents & Data is on. But your second suggestion was spot-on. I got a reply to my re-posted question in another forum area and that pointed me to the Pages setting in the Settings app. It had been switched off. Switching it to "on" has the iCloud-stored documents now appearing in Pages on the phones.

I have Pages 4.1. Do I need to pay for an upgrade to Pages iOS to upload documents to iCloud?

Have a new Air but transferred all my old software over from a previous Macbook. I have iWork '09. My Pages software is marked 4.1 -- and now I want to use iCloud to store Pages documents. Do I need to pay the $9.99 from the App Store for a new version of Pages? Or is there a way to use my existing Pages and get documents uploaded to my iCloud?

Welcome to the Apple community.
Pages 4.1 is the latest pages application, you do not need to update pages on your Mac.
However in order to use documents and data syncing, you need to be able to open documents on an iOS device, requiring you to have the pages app on that iOS device. Without this, the document and data section at iCloud.com will not let you add documents to it.

Pages for Mac document can't be opened on Pages for Ipad?

If I create a doc with any of the templates availables in Pages for Mac (Mountain Lion, and stored on iCloud), shouldn't be possible to edit it in the Pages for iPad (IOS 7) version? It just says "Document can't be opened" or something like that.

That is not true to my knowledge, as you can reopen the file from iCloud on the Mac without problem.
or you try to open it in iWork for iOS.
Again, where are you getting this from? My understanding is that formatting from OSX is retained but a degree of it can't be edited or created in iOS.

Where are you? Generally you can get phone support depending how and when you bought either your device or software.
Yes unfortunately Apple periodically makes statements that are not true and has been held to account by the consumer authorities. It has happened here in Australia and the EEC has done the same. Unfortunately it is based in the USA where in recent times corporations have not been held to account.

Scanning multiple pages in one document

I am trying to scan multiple pages in one document. I am using a HP Envy 4501 All-in-one and running Windows 8.1. I used to be able to do this at one point but for some reason, lately I am not able to. I have read other posts that spoke of a "+" sign on the left side of the screen, but it is not there for me. Also, I cannot just save the page and scan the next without having to save them under different file names. Please advise.

Hi,
From the HP Software click on Scan a Document or Photo and ensure the Sow Scan Preview is checked.
Reduce the Scan Resolution into 300 or a lower resolution and press on Scan, then the add button should appear again.

Scanning multiple pages as one document

When I was using Windows XP with my HP 3055 I could scan multiple pages as one document. Since I have upgraded to Windows 7 Pro, when I scan, each page is scanned as a new document. Also, I no longer have the option to scan the document as a pdf. The pdf problem is not that important, but it is very important to be able to scan multiple pages as one document. How can I make my HP scan all pages as one document?

I see that you would like to be able to scan multiple pages to one file. I would be happy to help you.
What printer do you have? Deskjet 3050 or the Laserjet 3050.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
If you are using the HP Scan Software, open the software, select the link for Advanced Settings, then click on the File tab and put a check mark in Create a separate file for each scanned page. This will allow you to scan multiple pages to one file.

Is there a way to scan multiple pages into single document? I am using the following: HP pavilion laptop with windows 8, HP photosmart C6380 all in one printer scanner copier.

Hi,
Please try
Double click printer icon on desktop,
Select Scan a Document or Photo,
Put the first page on the glass (face down),
Check options (size, dpi ...), and select Scan document to file,
Click Scan - machine will scan the first page
Remove the first page on the glass, put the second page,
Click + (plus sign) It sits on the left hand side of a red x
Machine will scan the second page, put 3rd page on the glass and click + again ..... to the end then click Save
Click Done after Save
