Pages "Ipad APP" no export via epub??

Greetings Folks, I wanted to take a look at the ebook I'm working on. I went to "export as an epub" and found
the option not avail.
Is it me or is it not avail in the iPad App version?

No, it's not you. ePub is not an option in the iOS version of Pages.

Pages 09 will not Export to ePub

I have Pages 09 version 4.1. I've written all my content and added all the pictures for each page of content for my eBook on Pages 09.
My understanding is that ePub is one of the main formats people want when they buy/read an eBook. For this reason I'd very much like to export my work on Pages to the ePub format.
When I open pages, go to file, export and click on ePub it says "Page layout documents cannot be exported to the ePub format." There are 4 other formats available: PDF, Word, RTF and Plain Text which appear to work.
Under Compatibility and sharing Apple writes " You can also save your Pages documents as RTF files or as plain text. Or export them as ePub or PDF files" apple.com/iwork/pages/
I've signed up at one of the top self publishing book and eBook services online but even their export tool isn't working with formatting my Pages 09 work to ePub.
Could anyone here share with me exactly what I need to do?
I really need to get this project finished as soon as possible.

Hi fruhulda, Thank you for attempting to explain this to me.
When I go to the the first link you gave # 7 says "To export your Pages document as an ePub document, choose File, Export and make sure ePub is selected as the export format."
From what I read on the page, I've done what needs to be done to export to ePub.
I'v simply created my work in Pages 09, I went to pages, chose a template, wrote content, added pics numbered pages ETC, saved it to documents then I open the pages document, What I made comes up and I go to file, then export and then click epub but when I click on epub, the only option is to choose another format or cancel, the next button goes away. (the next button doesn't actually go away but it becomes non-clickable)
When you say " The message you have got tells you that you have used the Page Layout template instead of the Word Processing one you need for creating an ePub document."
I'm not sure if you're saying I've done something wrong. If so, where did I go wrong? Was I not supposed to use a template?

Pages file doubles on export to .epub

When I export a Pages document to .epub, the file size doubles. I have a lot of .png images, and I have compressed them, but it still goes from a 12MB Pages file to a 24MB .epub file. What is happening and how do I keep my file to under 20 MB?

Any ideas on how to get my images down to the size to which they were compressed? Or does Stuffit (and Pages) somehow know what the original file size was and are using that to calculate the size of the images?
Sounds like you are being caught up too much in a numbers game here. The only true measure is the final amount of space taken up by the ePUB package which is, essentially, just a zipped package of files that are basically text and images.
Applications and utilities tend to differ in how they report a file's size. For instance, my cover JPEG files are 1.39 MBs (the decompressed file size) according to one application, 472 KBs of disk space (data + header + container with or without empty space allocation) according to the OS Finder, but only contains about 351 KBs (compressed data) according to yet another application--all readings for the same file as stored in the Pages package. When converted to a PNG at 2/3 the original dimensions (or 4/9 the surface area) file and embedded in the ePUB export, the same applications/utilities now report file sizes of 606 KBs, 496 KBs, and 493 KBs respectively. However, now we are comparing apples and oranges since we have added the complication of changing the compression format from JPEG (which most applications allow you to easily vary the amount of compression drastically) to PNG (which none of my normal applications allow me the vary the compression).
My basic recommendation is to use high quality/low compression images in the project and simply let things fall as they may during the export process. Of course, since I sometimes include movies in my ePUBs, my exports sometimes tend to be somewhat large. If you cannot bare to live with the file sizes as converted/exported by Pages, and, if you have the capability to actually create PNG files with a variable compression ratio, then, by all mens, simply replace the Pages generated files in the expanded ePUB folder with your own files having the exact same names and extensions, re-ZIP the folder, and change the file extension back to ".epub" to use your manually modified media/content.

Can't open Pages 05 saved in Dropbox on new Pages iPad app and visa-versa

Updated to the new Pages 05 on all my devices (macbook, iPad, iPhone). Problem now is that I want to save documents into Dropbox. Works fine when saving a file from my macbook to dropbox, and then opening it on my macbook again. But whenever I create a document on either the macbook or iPad and save it into dropbox, it will not allow me to open it on the other device. I am very uneducated in this area, especially the new 'packages' that files are put in now, I'm not understanding how this all works and why I cannot open a pages file created on my macbook in a pages app on my iPad and visa-versa.

I've just encountered this problem trying to work away from my main mac on pages and numbers documents, through my iPad - this was a great feature through dropbox - now it's just another frustration - Apple why are you taking us backwards? To resolve it I have to spend time moving all my documents to iCloud which is just making what was a brilliantly simple file sharing option, now very complicated.

I downloaded the Pages app for iPhone and iPad, successfully using it on both iPad and iPhone. Whenever I access my iPhone, it is immediately there and usable.
However, when I open the iPad, it is dimmed, and only returns when I sync through iTunes.
Naturally, I want it there all the time. Any advice on this?

Try closing the app in the recents tray and then reboot the iPad.
From a home screen, double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

IPad Apps to iTunesConnect

I was in the beta programme and our application was pretty much ready for deployment on the iPad when Apple cut the cord.
Now i'm trying to upload the iPad app to iTunesConnect via the Application loader and it tells me it needs to have specific version references to iOS 3.2 ? Has anyone had this problem? I'm using the iPhone Packager in CS5 to publish the ipa. We wrote the iPad app with the AIR packager, so maybe there's something with that...

Transferring the apps into the library will have helped, but there is still a danger that iTunes will remove and replace them, resulting in the loss of saved settings and data. See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for details and a workaround.

If you have changed country on your account then I don't think that items bought whilst it was set to a different country will show (that appears to be what other people have posted).
In terms of your music, have you not got a backup of your content ? You computer's iTunes will only copy iTunes purchases back via File > Transfer Purchases. You could see if the programs mentioned half-way down this page are any use : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

Pages won't export to epub

I have a file.pages file which I'm trying to export to ePub format; however, when I do the export, Pages creates a blank icon on my desktop which I can't open with any application. I've tried Author and Publisher, but no luck. Has anyone seen this before?

The normal apps to open an .epub file would be Calibre or Adobe Digital Editions or Kitabu or Bookle or the Firefox addon Epubreader (not the stuff you mentioned).
Do any of those work for you?
On an iOS device, you would use the iBooks app.

Perhaps it would work better if you use one of the apps specifically designed to interface with MS Word, instead of Pages which has to convert everything in and out.

You can't do anything in the background of iOS. Apps are still one at a time (with a few exceptions like Music), and suspend when the app is closed. It's also against the App Store guidelines to sell apps that would allow such actions.
Though, maybe you could get your Voice Memos saved to MP3's, which can play in the background of other apps.

I have had an apple iPad 2 for less than a year and I have less than 2 pages of apps but when I look at the space meter the "other" section is taking up 6.7 Gb out of 16 Gb on it. I have researched this on the Internet and no one seems to know what it is.

The long and short of it is that you will probably have to restore your iPad. That giant "other" space is a sign of a corrupt file from a sync, I am pretty sure, but I am quite sure that the way to resolve it is to restore the iPad.
You can search the discussion site for similar threads but I think you will find that a restore is the way to correct it. Read this one.

How to I get my Apps I purchased via the App Store on my iPad into Itunes?

Simple scenario. I purchased a used iPad. It came with some apps already installed, purchased by the previous owner. The first thing I did (probably a mistake), was start using the iPad as is, including buying new apps via the iPad app store. A few days in, I decided to start the sync process with my home computer and iTunes, and realized that the old apps the prior owner purchased would be erased if synced the apps, so I delayed. I have since purchased many more via my iPad. I don't mind losing the old apps he purchased, but now I think I will lose the apps I purchased, since they are not in iTunes. So, my question is, how do I sync with iTunes so I can keep the apps I purchased via the iPad App store?

Since you don't have Sync Apps selected under the Apps tab for your iPad sync preferences with iTunes, with your iPad connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPad. This will probably transfer the apps purchased/downloaded with your iTunes account only. After doing so, select Sync Apps under the Apps stab for your iPad sync preferences with iTunes and leave this selected. With this selected, after purchasing/downloading an app with your iPad, the app will be copied to your iTunes library the first time you sync your iPad with iTunes after doing so. This also allows for deleting an app from your iPad with iTunes by deselecting the app under the Apps tab for your iPhone sync preferences followed by a sync. To re-installed the app later, reselect the app followed by a sync. After purchasing/downloading an app with iTunes on your computer, the app will be selected automatically under the Apps tab. Follow this by a sync to install the app on your iPad.
All apps paid and free include DRM protection, which is tied to the iTunes account used to purchase/download the app.
