Pages is freezing!

My pages keeps freezing whenever I try to open a blank or existing document. What does this mean? How can I fix it?

How to stop my pages from freezing on Firefox?

I noticed I've been having a lot of crashes and my pages keep freezing when I use Firefox. This started with the recent Firefox updates...I have version 3.6.7 right now. Sometimes a message pops up about some problem with plugin...I've also recently downloaded the latest Flash plugin but a few times, it says I need to reinstall it.
I also cannot export Favorites from Firefox to Internet Explorer 8 because it says there are problems when I tried it.

Mavericlks Spelling and Grammar works in Pages when used manually. And it works automatically in Text and email.

Another autocorrect bug:
I type a lot of lyrics, which tend to cotain words like ’cause and ’em instead of because and them.
I've set up autocorrect instances to change a plain apostrophe with an ending, single curly quote for these words, but they are invariably changed to a beginning, single curly quote mark by Pages. The only way I can get the correct curly quote is to type over the wrong quote manually and hope that I don't have to edit the rest of the word again, as this would cause autocorrect to kick in again and change the quote to the wrong, beginning curly mark again.
Does anyone know how to get around this tedious problem?

When something that used to work stops doing so, the most likely culprit is corrupt preferences. Go to HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences, delete the com.apple.iwork.pages.plist file & then restart Pages. In Finder, hold down the Option key while clicking on the Go menu & your user Library will appear about halfway down the list. Or you can choose Go to Folder from the Go menu in Finder & paste this line in the box:
~/Library/Preferences

Firefox won't load my pages without freezing. FF3 never did that

Whenever I go onto the internet to visit any site, FF4 won't load the pages without freezing. I thought it was my internet, but then I downgraded back to FF3 and it worked just fine. For some reason it is only FF4. Internet Explorer works fine too, though I would prefer firefox.

Have you tried starting Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]? It sounds like there might an addon or extension that is causing some problems. If it works in Safe Mode, then follow the instructions in the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting-extensions-themes Extensions and Themes troubleshooting article]. It will show you how to enable them one by one until you find the culprit. Hopefully this helps!

Pages keeps freezing when I launch a template.

Try quitting Pages and deleting the following file: youraccount > library > preferences > com.apple.iWork.Pages.plist. Restart Pages and see if that helps.

A1145 imac g5 isight, freezes after 2-5 mins and then there no power from keyboard and mouse. Changed HDD and no luck and on the install page it freezes. You have to force it to shutdown and leave it for 5-10 minutes and try to turn it on again AHT Passed

Pages '08 freezes when I go to print

Whenever I go to print from pages '08, the program freezes. I get the "spinning beach ball of death" and the print dialogue box never opens. I use force quit and it says that pages isn't responding. This issue just came up today; before, I could print successfully. What happened?

Since it's a new problem, the likely cause is a corrupted preference file. And each time you force quit, there might be just a little bit more. Go to HD > Users (your account) > Library > Preferences & move the com.apple.iWork.Pages.plist to the Trash, empty the Trash & restart Pages.

Since upgrading to Firefox 4 every time I open or refresh a page everything freezes and I have to wait a minute or so for it to respond again. I'm also having problems with uploading to Photobucket and watching things via Youtube since the upgrade.

Since upgrading to Firefox 4.0 a couple of days ago, every time I open or reload a page the whole browser freezes. At first I thought it might be down to compatibilty issues with other programmes open at the time, but as the problem has persisted when those programmes aren't open I'm starting to think it's the browser itself and it's getting extremely frustrating having everything freeze every time I want to change a page.
My other problem is twofold: with Youtube nothing plays at all because the toolbar with the play/pause option simply isn't there and I am unable to access the upload function on Photobucket because likewise it won't appear. I'm assuming this has something to do with Flash but have no idea how to fix it.

hello, often such issues are caused by a firewall/security software which doesn't recognize & therefore blocks new firefox versions. please remove all program rules for firefox from your firewall and let it detect the new version of the browser again.

I am ready to throw my computer out the window! I loaded the latest safari to and now at random pages will freeze. I can see what is going on, but cannot type anywhere! I have to shut down safari and go back in to even attempt to do anything. Please help!

Please help! I updated safari and yes it is an older desktop, but now all of the sudden tabs I have open will freeze on me. I can see what is going on, but am unable to type anywhere on the page! I have to shut down safari and then open up a whole new window to even attempt to get it to stop! It is driving me insane not to mention I need my desktop to work properly. I beg for someone to help me with this.

Pages Constantly Freezing (Not Responding) with Lion

The Problem
I use Pages constantly for work, and have for the last two years. It has always had speed issues, and occasional crashes, but after upgrading to Lion, the application has become almost entirely unusable. The problem appears to be related to saving. The application freezes (at least once an hour and frequently as often as once every 10 minutes). I am forced to switch to the Finder and Force Quit. I've re-installed Lion (to fix an OS instability issue) and that didn't help. I also recently re-installed Pages (I used a 3rd party app to totally uninstall the application), and the re-installed version has the exact same issues.
When it Happens
Often Pages freezes when I switch to another application and return. Often it freezes when selecting Save a Version from the file menu. Sometimes it just freezes while I'm working. I don't want to start a discussion about the pros and cons of versions and templates, I really just want Pages to stop freezing up. If I can't do this, I will either have to downgrade to Snowleopard or find another word processor (which I really don't want to do). I've lost a tremendous amount of work related to this issue. I never lost work under Snowleopard.
Preferences
I have unchecked "Back up previous version when saving" and "Save new documents as packages" (the latter being problematic with the version control in Dropbox). I am using a MacBook Pro 17" 2.6GHz Core i7 with 8GB RAM. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm not sure this is a Pages issue. You've said you've had to reinstall Lion to fix instability issues. Have these issues really been fixed? Are you having issues with other apps?
I also would not use a third-party program to uninstall Pages. This is just a generic uninstaller and may not uninstall unique files that only Pages creates.
My suggestion would be to:
Create a new user account and run Pages from there. Do the same problems occur? If not, move your data to a new user account and delete the existing user account that has problems.
Make sure there's not a permissions issue on your Mac by Fixing Permissions with Disk Utility (you've probably already done this, but thought I'd mention it just in case)
Delete iWork's font cache:
Macintosh HD/Users/YourName/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWork.fonts
Completely uninstall Pages:
Go to https://public.me.com/koenigyvan
Choose For iWork > iWork '09 > uninstall iWork '09.zip
Download uninstall iWork '09.zip, decompress it, open it in AppleScript Editor and click the Run button
Reinstall and update Pages

Can't swipe back on websites any more..the page just freezes and i have to close it...this happens with both the trackpad and magic mouse. Also can't scroll down in iCal...any advice please?

While browsing online tonight my Wi-Fi failed and then after restarting I noticed that I can no longer swipe "back" on websites...when I swipe back to go to a previous page the browser just freezes – can’t click anything or navigate to another site – I have to close the browser and reopen it.
This happens in both Safari and Google Chrome with both Trackpad and Magic Mouse.
Also noticed that I can no longer scroll down in iCal… All the other gestures seem to be responding normally.
Anyone have advice as to how I can fix this?

Restart your computer and try again.
Double check your AppleMenu()>System Preferences>Trackpad
for all custom settings here.

Web pages crash/freeze

Hello there,
On certain webpages I visit, particularly those with video clips etc, the page freezes and becomes unresponsive, while the other tabs work. I like watching a lot of television on demand, and it's a right pain when this starts happening. My flash player is up to date, and it happens with both Chrome and Safari.
I absolutely love my Mac, but it's little things like this that are starting to put me off - I'm hoping it's something simple that you guys can help me out with though.

These were the 2 error messages which were generated in Console at the time of the freezing.

I load cbc.ca and it loads ok then a grey screen covers the page and freezes everything - doesn't happen on other browsers

I load cbc.ca - I assume other sites but haven't test - and it loads ok - then a grey screen covers everything and freezes the content- Other tabs work fine for other pages just not cbc.ca - what's wrong. This happens on all my copies of ffox. So not just a single computer.

If you use extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) that can block content (e.g. Adblock Plus, NoScript, Flash Block, Ghostery) then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.

. FF Ver 4 is very slow and does perform as well as 3.6. I uninstalled 4 after downloading ver 3.6.16 and that is causing colorfultabs not to color and the Add-ons page is freezing making it unable to use it. Ver 4 runs very slow. Please help.

It seems my machine does not like your ver4 and 3.6.16. I want the ver prior to 3.6.16. . Since the last 2 updates have not been able to use FF to browse or play Webkinz. It is way too slow. Following the install of 3.6.16 the Colorfultabs is not working and I can't fix it or adjust it because the Add-ons list/page freezes. I have removed/disabled several add-ons and extensions and nothing seems to help. If it were not for IE I would not be able to use my machine. I have 2.5 GB of memory and 30 percent plus of free space on my hard drive. I use Windows XP SP3 if that makes a difference. I don't think I need a lot of add-ons but need to know what I can remove. The feature to open FF without any add-ons is gone for some reason. Please give me back my simple smooth operating FF. Thank you.

I had all the dot nets in add/remove but discovered they were not installed. Got all up to date. Puter is 2005, I have all that U listed except Win7. I just don't know if I need that or not. Did U say that I need more than the 2.5 GB
memory that I have? Please tell me why Win7 is better than WinXP.
FF is running much better now but Webkinz accounts are still loading slower than in IE. I am wondering if maybe I should totally remove all of FF including customizations and personal info and start over fresh with a clean install of ver 4. I am still using ver 3.6.16. Is it possible that this is reason for Webkinz (a flash, java and Unity game) not loading good? Also, are there some of the Plug-ins that I can remove? What Audio players do I need? I have wmp, real player, aol media playback, realarcade, realjukebox, also is Zylom usable? Thank you so much for your help.
