Pages jumps to beginning of document... and rant...

Pages keeps jumping to the beginning of the document whenever I try to edit text in a table. And my tables keep moving around whenever I try to click on a cell. And since saving is automatic, if I forget to hit undo, the table ends up halfway off the document.
I'm finding iWork for iPad almost unusably buggy and counterintuitive. Where does the Pages formatting bar go in landscape mode? It wouldn't be a problem except for the fact that there's no keyboard shortcut to underline or use italics, so you have to physically rotate the device to get the button to underline titles (after painstakingly selecting the title with the little bars and dots). And keynote NEEDS "start on click" for movies. Is that so difficult? Presenter notes would also be swell, especially since the iPad is already displaying something different than the projector.
Perhaps worst of all, I can't find any kind of "feature request" email link to rant directly at Apple about these (relatively minor) issues. Instead Apple forces users to talk to each other in this forum, where instead of giving feedback to make these products usable we end up debating ad nauseum whether or not the iPad is crap. Or have I missed something?

I have similar problems. When using Pages in iCloud, the document keeps drifting back to the top or beginning of the document. I'm wondering, this can't be an intentional attribute, can it? I looked around for some sort of "anti-drift" or lock setting to stop the drfting, but could not find anything. Pages for iCloud will never catch up with Google docs or Word in OneDrive (formerly Skydrive) for stability and functionality. I will remind myself never to come back to iCloud Pages again. Its a waste of time and an exercise in frustration!

If you have Adobe Acrobat (not Adobe Reader) the program can perform an OCR on the document you acquired.
In the past I used ABBYY FineReader

My HTML code works fine in IE8 but pages "jump" slightly to the right and left in Firefox

When I click on Pages I get an old document and the spinning wheel, I can't create a new doc, open another doc, or edit the one that does open, what do I do now?

I go to the Pages application and click on it, and instead of getting the normal Pages menu I get an old Pages document and the spinning wheel. I can't open the menu bar, can't create a new document, can't open another document, can't access the menu. All that happens is the spinning wheel, it's been thirty minutes now and it's still spinning

Menu > Apple > Force Quit… > Pages
Try opening Pages with the shift key held down.
To escape what is happening in Pages if you can't get at the menu, click on your Desktop then come at the Apple menu by sliding around from top right.

Cursor jumps to beginning of document when I start typing

Starts doing this, seemingly at random, when editing documents. I go to insert at one spot, click the cursor in the desired spot, it blinks where it is supposed to be, but as soon as I start typing, it flips to the start of the document and start inserting the text there and won't let me insert text anywhere else. ***? Started doing this after last update but have no idea how to undo/fix this. Help!

We're supposed to know what version of Pages and what version of OSX you're talking about?

Cursor jumps to beginning of document when editing Word-based texts

Hi,
I hope someone might offer a solution to this problem.
I recently got a new mac book and decided I wouldn't install MS Office for mac on this one, but use iWorks instead. Most of this transition had been smooth, except when I need to edit Word-based documents in Pages. At some point (not immediately), the cursor starts jumping to the top of the document each time I try to type something. I can replace the cursor anywhere and highlight/delete/copy/insert stuff, but once this problem starts, I can no longer write 'in' the text without the cursor jumping back to the top.
This has only happened when opening and editing Word doc(x)s or after copy-pasting text from a doc(x) file into my pages document.

I don’t have an answer for a moving document cursor in Pages v5.2 — outside of your direct control from an input device. I use the same version of Pages with .doc and .docx documents. On 10.9.3 and 10.9.4. External Apple Mighty Mouse. No issue. I have found that low-battery reserve on Bluetooth devices can effect their behavior, or additional interference from other electronic sources.
Does this issue follow you into TextEdit, or /Applications/iWork ’09 Pages ’09 v4.3 (if you still have it)?
I would disconnect both keyboard and mouse via the Bluetooth Menu bar item. Power off each device. Shut your MBP down, then reboot it. Then, power on the keyboard and pair it. Follow this with the mouse. Re-evaluate if your erratic pointer condition remains.

Pages 5.0 not saving documents and crashing

I upgraded my Imac to the maverick and pages was working fine so I uprgaded pages to the last version and I can't basically edit/save my documents all my work is stopped and I need a fix for it as sson as possible, I save all my work in a external network drive and this is the behaviour I having since the last update:
Pages crashes when I try to edit a document, when a copy and paste a table the copy is not identical.
Also the auto save is not working and when I try to do it manualy it also say the document can't be saved.

Yes. I tested to see if auto save was working. It is not. I had several pauses in my work flow and then waited more than 5 min. Only when I hit save am I given a version I can revert to.

Thanks Jerrold. But I am opening a word processing document. The same thing happens when I select a blank layout page. I try to put in shapes and nothing appears. When I click around on the blank word processing document the verbage will appear in a green color but when I type, I still cannot see what I am typing. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall and this did not help.

Assuming Pages v5 on OS X, you place your pointer at the top of your document, and then Insert ▸ Section. You can verify this by View ▸ Show Page Thumbnails.

How do I extract pages from an accessible document and keep the tags?

I have a 300 page document that contains tags. I need to extract 5 pages with complex <Table> structures and maintain the tags. I also want to Import the same pages into another document while maintaining the Tags.
My efforts this far gives the 5 extracted pages and there are Tags but they no longer seem connected to the pages.
Am I asking too much?

Thank you very much for the assistance. I ended up deleting all of the pages and Tags but those that I wanted to "export". Saving that as a file and combining it successfully.
I did indeed follow the instructions for Extracting, but as with many things in Acrobat, it has its issues.
Here is what I think happened that ensured failure before. First I assumed that if I export the pages the Tags "belonging" to those pages would export as well without difficulty. For each page I created a new Section and named it for the page number. So with the auto-tagging completed I created Section for each page and moved the Tags under the proper Sections. However I had not completed the process for the entire document when I needed to do the Export. I apparently left Tags belonging to later pages in the document (they were buried in Sections of Sections).
When I originally exported, I had the pages I wanted and a lot of Tags relating to pages at the beginning of the document as well as Tags for pages near the end of the document. Clearly the Tags (in the Tag View) for the pages not exported were dead. But so were the Tags for the pages that were exported.
I expect that not having the Tags in proper order made Acrobat lose its mind during the export process.

What I mean by 'cycles through documents" is that when I attempt to either open a document or just open the application - it looks like the application begins to start - I see the first page of a bunch of documents very quickly going from left to right on my screen but then I see a bar in the middle of the screen (I'm not sure what its called but its the one that tells you to wait while the computer does something) - and then it just stays there, never opening the documents.
My version of pages has always had the "cycling" effect at the beginning but it always ended quickly and I could begin working on my documents - now.... I can't begin working on anything and the only option I have is to force quit.

The prologue must be included at the top of the document, followed by the root

InDesign CS5.5 Crashes When I Add Pages at Beginning of Document. Is There a Fix?

I am working on a long InDesign document using CS5.5 on a Mac. Every time I try to add pages at the beginning of the document, the document crashes and the program shuts down. This happens whether I add pages manually through the insert or add pages command or if I drag pages from another ID document. Is there any fix to this?

You can also try creating a new document - using the same page size, margins, master pages etc.
Then use the Pages Panel and move the pages to the new document.
You'll need both documents open.

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5.2 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.01 can not open Pages 5.2 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.2 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5.2 files can not be opened in Pages 5.
Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed over 95 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

Archive/trash Pages 5, after exporting all Pages 5 files to Pages '09 or Word .docx, and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.
