Pages Mail attachment strange behavior

I'm having two problems with Pages files that are attached to emails (using Mail.app). It has nothing to do with Leopard since both the sender and the receiver (me) are using Tiger. If I try to open the file from the download folder (the file has a .zip extension) by double-clicking it, it creates a file with the zip.cpgz extension and won't open. If I just click on the file within the email message, the file opens in Pages properly.
Another weird thing with these files, which may or may not be related, is that when they are saved into my mail download folder using the Save button, and I go to save another attachment from another email, instead of showing the mail download folder as the destination again, it shows the previously saved Pages zip file as the destination as if it's a folder. After reading in the Discussions that Pages docs are actually packages, that might explain why the Finder Save window is seeing them as folders, but it didn't always do that. It used to ignore them as folders--it just saw them as documents, and I could save directly back into the mail download folder again.
Both these things happen every time without fail. It just started in the last couple of months. I don't know what caused it. I was on 10.4.10, then updated to 10.4.11 and it still happens. Not sure exactly which version the sender is using (or exactly if our versions of Pages are the same). All I know is that this problem didn't occur until recently.

Well, the obvious thing to try here would be deleting that message from the server, either using webmail if the account allows it, or with the Account Info window, which you can open by choosing Get Info (⌘I) from the Action menu (gear icon) located below the mailboxes list in the main Mail window.

  • Mail app strange behavior, default and all mailboxes not accessible

hello community! i have had this problem from months now and maybe years...a couple of days ago i bought my 5S and i thought that this should have pushed me to fix this and not just work around it...
so here's the deal MAIL APP, iPhone 5S 7.0.3
i have mail app setup with 5 gmail accounts, which receive and send email just fine, the problem comes when i need to check emails...here's what happens.
    i open the mail app
SOMETIMES i see on the bottom "downloading 250 email" (50 last emails for 5 accounts).
IF im fast enough...i would be able to enter in my default account or "all mailboxes", if i wait like a couple of seconds, boom! all mailboxes and default account become unaccessibe (GREY, like in the screenshot)...and they stay like this
when i manage to access the "all mailboxes", i see a bunch of NO SENDER emails that appear and disappear after a few seconds, all dated 1.1.01 and the email conversations with more than 1 email, i would be able to tap it, it would get evidenced but it wouldn't open the email conversation, this happens sometimes, sometimes it opens...
i have tried searching this issue, but nothing seemed as this, only found some random use with the no sender or duplicate emails, not my case...no sender emails appear and go away in manner of 2 seconds.
workoround: Gmail app works just fine, but i would love to use the native mail app
screenshot attached, i hope someone can help here. I ave covered the rest of the email accounts, but i assure you that they are black and not grey like the top ones.

and so again happened, was sending an email from my default account and boom!!
however, the email was sent, then this happened. this time the emails are from the 70's, probably someone that decided to pull my leg seein me in the future...lol

  • Latest Mail.app strange behavior

    Hi,
My Mac recently downloaded and upgraded my system to 10.10.1, and ever since Mail.app has really been annoying when I make it active from the Dock.  Prior to this release, I could select from among several mail account inboxes and that selection would stick across hides and opens.  Now however, Mail seems to think it's best to open with the selector bar highlighting "Inbox", which then displays all current inbox emails.
Is there some way to defeat this problem?  I really don't want to have every inbox's contents displayed when I open Mail.  I go through them at different times according to the account.
    Mail Version 8.1 (1993)
    Many thanks,
    -Tod

  • Strange behavior with Firefox

    Hi Team,
I am using HTMLDB V2.0 and Firefox V1.5.0.1. I used wizard to create a report/form application. However, when I press a button to update the form all the buttons line up in a vertical row and I then have to press the same button again.
My application is 30412 at htmldb.oracle.com. The problem is occurring at page 4. Go to page 3 (2nd tab) and select any record. You will be directed to page 4. Then when you press any button (cancel, create, delete, apply changes) on page 4, page 4 is refreshed and the buttons strangely line up in a vertical column. I then have to press the same button again before the update occurs.
I have the same report/form setup on pages 1 and 2 and it is working fine on those pages.
This strange behavior is not occurring in IE. I also notice that the font size is bigger in IE .
I would appreciate any help you might offer.
I really enjoy working with HTMLDB.
    Thanks, Andy

Sorry about that. I removed all the authorization schemes from the application. I also changed the authentication scheme to HTMLDB. Let me know if I need to do something more for you to get access.
    Thanks for looking at it.
I think it may have something to do with the "button, alternative 3" template from theme 3 that I am using. When I switch to the "button" template from theme 3 then the strange behavior goes away in Firefox.

  • Strange behavior at secured pages

Hi, I encounter a strange behavior at jdev 11
I have a page A that has a command button that navigates from that page to page B. It's action value is a control flow
that has from activity:A toActivity:B at the adfc-config.xml.
That worked fine until I secured page A, after this, pushing command button resulted to nothing (no navigation, no error)
If i change the control flows fromActivity from A to * then it works OK again.
so it seems that when the page is secured only global navigation rules are working.
Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?
    thanks

Should be 8 MB limit using the webpage email, and 20 MB using a third party email client like outlook or winmail.

  • Change IronPort attachment handling behavior

Is there a way to configure an IronPort 170 to automatically block any e-mail attachment which cannot be successfully scanned?  For example, users are able to send password protected zip files though e-mail, and the IronPort’s default behavior seems to be to pass the files though, though they cannot be opened and scanned.

  • Strange Behavior with gMSA in Server 2012 R2

    Greetings,
I have been doing some testing with gMSA Accounts in a Server 2012 R2 environment (two separate environments, actually), and I have noticed something very strange that occurred in both environments, which does not appear to be occurring in one of our customer's
    self-managed environments.
We created a Group Managed Service Account using the following article:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/askpfeplat/archive/2012/12/17/windows-server-2012-group-managed-service-accounts.aspx
Everything went smoothly, and the account installs/tests successfully on both of the hosts that we are testing on. I am able to set my services to run under the account, and most of them appear to work fine. I am having some issues with a few of my services,
and I believe that the strange behavior I am seeing may have something to do with this - described below:
As soon as I set the service's Log On Account (via the Log On Tab under the Service's Properties), the entirety of the "Log On" tab changes to "greyed out," and I am unable to change the Log On account back via the GUI (Screenshot
    attached).
I found that I am able to successfully change the account via Command Line using sc.exe, but the Log On tab remains greyed out! So far, I have found nothing to remedy this, but confirmed that it happens for any service I set to use the gMSA as the Logon
Account, and that it happens in 2 separate test environments, but not in a Customer's production environment - very strange.
All servers in this environment are running Server 2012 R2, and domain Functional Level is currently Server 2012.
I have been unable to find any information online about this behavior, so I am hoping someone has seen this before, and can explain why this is happening.
    Nick

    VIvian,
Yes, we used the Install-AdServiceAccount gMSA command on each host using the gMSA account, and then ran Test-AdServiceAccount gMSA, which returned "True."
However, one thing I noticed is that if I run Test-ADServiceAccount gMSA as a Local Administrator, it fails with the following:
    PS C:\Users\Administrator> Test-AdServiceAccount gMSA$
Test-AdServiceAccount : The server has rejected the client credentials.
    At line:1 char:1
    + Test-AdServiceAccount gMSA$
    + ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
        + CategoryInfo          : SecurityError: (:) [Test-ADServiceAccount], AuthenticationException
        + FullyQualifiedErrorId : ActiveDirectoryCmdlet:System.Security.Authentication.AuthenticationException,Microsoft.A
       ctiveDirectory.Management.Commands.TestADServiceAccount
If I run Test-ADServiceAccount gMSA as Domain Administrator, it returns true:
    PS C:\Users\Administrator.<domainname>> Test-AdServiceAccount gMSA$
    True
    Is this normal?
Overall, I think the issue I am running into is at the Application Level, and not a problem with the gMSA, as it appears to be working. (Can Start/Stop services without any issues). I will be investigating my issue further with 3rd-party vendors, unless
you think there is something wrong with my gMSA accounts based on the information I have provided.

  • Receiver File Adapter: Keep original Filename in E-Mail Attachment

    Dear All
On our SAP-XI 7.0.1 (EHP 1, sp 4) we have the following scenario:
    (1) SAP-XI picks a FlatFile from the R/3 application server. This file should be forwarded unmodified to the e-mail receiver.
    (2) In the Sender channel I have set the option "Set Adapter-specific Message Attributes" including the FileName.
    (3) In the Receiver channel I have set the message protocol = XIPAYLOAD. In the "Mail Attributes" I do NOT use the mail package yet marked the flag "Keep Attachments". No module has been added to this channel.
Result: The original file "dollytest1" is sent as e-mail attachment "Untitled.xml".
QUESTION: Is there a (simple) solution which allows the e-mail attachment to keep its genuine filename ("dollytest1") without any suffix?

  • Mail attachment saving problem

    Hi,
When I tried to save a Mail attachment today I got the following warning:
Mail was unable to save the attachment “File.numbers” to disk. Please verify your downloads folder exists and is writable.
The warning must be wrong because other attachments, even of the same kind, can be saved without problems. I observed that only such files are effected which contain subdirectories like numbers, keynote, etc. and my suspicion is, that the saving problems may come from wrong file reading/writing rights within these subdirectories, that the sender of the Mail may have imposed to prevent unwanted changes to his/her file. May this be so? Otherwise, what else?
    (MacOs X 10.5.6, Mail.app 3.5 and, in this particular case, Numbers08)
Thanks for for help in advace!
    Joe.

    Hi Kappy,
Nothing at all. No error message but no copying either, and no change in the curser appearance when dragging to the Desktop.
When I go to Mail --> Message --> Forward as Attachment, the attachment in the composer window can be saved like a normal file and has an appropriate size, eg. the desired original file seems to be contained in there. However, I have no Idea how to extract the original .numbers file from that.
    Strange, isn't it?
    Thanks,
    Joe.

  • Mail attachment problem with IP TUNNELING

    Hi
We are an Isp and we have two links separatly from two different service provider, one is for Send traffic and another one for recive traffic, we use simple Gre tunnle and configure it in our router ,the tunnel is active and everything seems works fine ,but when users want to use mail attachment like yahoo mail attachment they have problem : yahoo ask them to attach files they can browse and choose files after that when they want to finish ,the yahoo attachment page process opened and never finish it s job !!!!!!!
    please help.
    Thanks.
    Reards Bahman mozaffari

    Hi,
this sounds like you are having MTU problems due to the GRE overhead. You can try to fix this with the command
    ip tcp adjust-mss ! f.e. 1400
on the tunnel interfaces. The riouter will intercept TCP MSS negotiation and allow only TCP segments small enough to fit through the tunnel.
Hope this helps! Please rate all posts.

If the message is in an Exchange server, you can access it with JavaMail
and extract the attachment. See the JavaMail FAQ and the many sample
    programs that come with JavaMail.
If the message is in Outlook's message store on your desktop machine,
it's harder. You need a JavaMail "message store provider" that understands
the message store format used by Outlook on your local disk. JavaMail
doesn't come with such a provider, but you might find one in the Third
Party Products list on the JavaMail web page.

  • How can I create a mail attachment without a file suffix?

    Hi,
I'm trying to create anl attachment without a suffix.
    Here is my code:
                   TextPayload attAnlFile = msg.createTextPayload();
                   attAnlFile.setName("File");
                   attAnlFile.setContentType("");
                   attAnlFile.setText("Test");
                   msg.addAttachment(attAnlFile);
                   inputModuleData.setPrincipalData(msg);
I get a file named "File.bin", but i need a file, which is only named "File".
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks a lot
    BR
    Ralf

    Hi Ralf,
    Ref: Receiver Mail Adapter
The attachements are given a .bin extension by default. To change this , the procedure is available in the Mail Adapter FAQ : 856599
Q: Can I choose the name of an attachment in the mail?
A: Yes. Most mail clients use some heuristics based on some MIME headers to derive the name of an attachment. The MIME headers involved in most heuristics are Content-Type, Content-Description, and Content-Disposition. When you create an XI message, the XI payload name is automatically set in the Content-Description. If you want to change or set all of these headers, you can use the MessageTransformBean module (Note 793922) in the adapter framework.

Q: How can I set the file name of a mail attachment?
There are several MIME headers that play a role in how the client retrieves the file name of an attachment. Unfortunately, this behavior differs among various mail clients. The reason for this inconsistent behavior comes from the fact that this mechanism has been extended incrementally. The old way is to use the name parameter in the Content-Type header as specified in RFC1341. For example, you can set the content type of an XML attachment as:
    Content-Type: application/xml; name="abc.xml"
RFC1521 discourages the use of this name parameter in anticipation of the new header Content-Disposition, which is defined in RFC1806.
With this Content-Disposition header, you can set the file name as:
    Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="abc.xml"
Some clients may show the Content-Description value as the file name. The Content-Description header is typically used to associate some descriptive information to an attachment (RFC1341) as in
    Content-Description: my xml file
To avoid potential interpretation problems, it is recommended to combine the use of these headers.
Also, the same note contains all info you wnat on the options of the mail adapter. Take a look at it.
