Pages on ibook G4

Just wondering if anyone can help me...
I installed a 30 day trial of Pages on my iBook G4 where it worked fine for the 30 days. I decided I wanted to purchase Page at that stage, so tried to do this on my iBook G4, but as it cannot install Snow Leopard, and thus the App Store I couldn't purchase it on there (unless I got the enitre iWork suite, which I don't want nor need).
So, I purchase Pages by itself on the App Store on my iMac and then copied the file over to my iBook G4... where it promptly tells me it cannot run on this architecture. Except that it used to work fine and now it doesn't. And this time I've paid money.
Is there anything I can do to get this paid copy working? I need it to run on the iBook, not the main iMac.

You can't use any application downloaded from the Mac App Store on a PowerPC Mac. Your options are to purchase the whole iWork package from another source, or use a third-party product.

I have tried and successfully completed the iBooks ambient soundtrack option in Fixed Layout ePub. It works fine.
But while trying the same in Reflow ePub, it is not working in iPad iBooks. I have latest iBooks version and latest iOS version in my iPad.
Please let me know how can I code to play audio continuously from page to page in iBooks for reflow ePub?

As soon as the user turns to the next page, the audio stops.
That's how it works in all cases.
the book is a read aloud book.

How do I set up my 'author' page on iBooks?

Can anyone tell me how to set up my 'author' page on iBooks? I have three books, one from a major publisher, two from an independent, plus an audio program all listed, but no author page for any of them. I'd like to connect them all together to a single author page. I've looked for this info across the web, but no luck. Any help will be appreciated.

The main thing is...you have a way to move forward with your project.
If I may offer some tips, learn to customise the template to suit your project...its basically very easy..once you try.Again a search will bring up posts that address this topic.
IF you do create your own template..save it as a template before using it, that way you have a clean version every time.
When putting your book together save versions as you go along..later you can delete them.
If, as .. you seem to have found, you need to change things or want to try other options, you can copy whole chapters or sections and paste in a new order or into another version of your template. If you copy into a different template or book, the template basic also transfer to the template. Best way to discover what can be done is simply open a new book to play with! Add a few chapters and sections...include some pages..and just drag things around, copy and paste where you choose. Its just learning and after you delete the junk!..BTW, yes, you can have single pages before the first chapter...i.e. I open a copyright page into a chapter...that drag it to the top of the book tree, a blue line will appear ..drop it.

I know it is possible as E O Wilson's - Life On Earth displays it, but how do you place images across multiple pages in iBook Author?

I have a large image that I would like to span across 2 or possibly more pages in iBook Author. I know that it is possible as you can see it in the above mentioned E O Wilson's Life On Earth. However at the moment when I place an image in the position required it simply displays it on one of the pages. Any help with this issue would be greatfully recieved.

You'd need to split the image into two, then place the left 1/2 on one page and the right 1/2 on the next, side-by-side.

I don't think you can. If you need that effect, you should use ePub (that can be authored via Pages) not iBA.
I hope Apple give us the option in the future though.

First off - great tutorial - will go through it tonight to make sure I have the same.
I have this setup too, however I am connected to the internet fine, but iTunes airtunes sharing does not appear at all. Any suggestions as to why or what I can try?
The Airport Express is setup to use Airtunes, and iTunes is too. When setting up the airport Exp, Airtunes worked but internet didnt. When i figured out the internet part, Airtunes stopped

Blank purchases page in ibooks

Ever since upgrading to iOS 6 the purchased page in ibooks shows up as nothing but a blank white page. I have upgraded to 6.0.1 and done ibooks updates as well as reinstalling ibooks but I still get the same blank page. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix? I purchase a lot of books and like to be able to easily download old purchases as well as see my preorders.

I know some people have asked previously how to create links to other pages of their book within iBooks. I having an issue with this myself that I haven't been able to resolve. I am able to create the links, and they seem to function within the program, however, once I export the document as a PDF file (the format in which I need to have this ebook!), the links seem to be non-functional. Does anybody have a fix for this?

Exporting as a PDF does alter/lose/remove certain functions. Adobe Acrobat has its own page navigation system.
A lot of the hidden engine of iBooks Author is basically very similar to building a website! so links and books marks are an "internal" function.
IF you have Acrobat and not just the Adobe Reader, you can make links. I have never needed to try, but I see a working link related index in the many software manuals I have.

I'm assuming you mean by using the Mac App Store, if so AFAIK you cannot turn them off. However if you want to prevent someone from making purchases change your AppleID password and don't give it out. Without the password they cannot make purchases. Either that or you can simply sign out. How you sign out in the Mac App Store is Under Quick Links click Account then click Sign Out. Once you are signed out no purchases can be made.

Help with Links to my book/publisher page from ibook to ibookstore

My question : What is the correct way to get links to specific ibooks and publisher pages and on the iBookstore - as I have had trouble with mine.
Many of the iBooks and ePubs samples (Dorling Kindersly for example) that I've downloaded from the iBookstore have a button at the back which takes you to the page for the book itself where you can purchase the complete book.
Similarly on the books themselves they have links to their publisher pages.
• Firstly, I can't work out how to link to a book which hasn't been published yet - So at the back of my samples I put a button next which links to my 'Publishers Page' (see below)
• Secondly, I can't work out how to make a proper publisher page - if there is such a thing - the only way I've managed is to add the publishers name as an 'Author' to the book itest, searching for the authour in linkmaker, then linking to that page:

The main issue is that on my clients (newer) ipad some of the links behave differently... some only take to search page.
What I am currently doing:
• Finding the links by going to http://itunes.apple.com/linkmaker/ then searching for the name of my publisher, where I get to link to the 'artists page' then as all my publications will list the publisher as an Author, when in the new sample they visit this link it should take them to the page with all our publications on, including the one that they have just downloaded a sample of.

Apple has recently introduced 'short links'. That document requires a developer account to access, but this may be of interest:

Create a web-link to go to a specific page in ibooks?

I have a link in my ibook which goes to the web to provide supplemental information. I'd like to provide a link to take them back from where they came from, or ideally the following page.
Is there a way to do that?

Your user needs to return to your book manually, sorry. If they bring up iBooks directly, your book should still be open where they left off.

How to save .html page in iBooks on iPad

I'm on my works intranet site that holds all of our policies and procedures. The links to each specific policy open has .html and not a PDF ( which it does or at least did at one point on my partners ipad that was running an older software version). How can I take that that page ( that specific policy or procedure) and save it in iBooks on my iPad?

That poster seems to be referring to a technique used for adding webpages to ebooks created by using the iBooks Author app. I think he misread your question and thought he was in the forum for iBooks Author instead of this one.
You can't do anything with widgets on your iPad.
