Pages on iPad not importing

Hi all,
I have a doc I created in Pages on my Mac.  I am trying to import it into Pages on the iPad and it "hangs" with the progress bar barely a 1/4 inch filled (not 1/4 filled, but about 1/4 inch of white)  I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong.  I'm using iTunes to copy the files to Pages on the iPad and then in Pages - I use the + then tell it to import files from iTunes...
Am I doing something wrong?  Do I need to do something special to make it work?

Hi,
I realized after I posted that I should have stated the version (unfortunately, I wasn't able to get back online until just now ) - I am using iWork '09.
I don't think I'm using a file that's over-difficult - it's a outline, no graphics.  I saved in the default format so I am not sure why it hangs.  One thing that's interesting - although it appears to hang while importing, the app itself isn't hung - I can still hit cancel and it will cancel out of the import.

  • Instructions for adding a word to spell dictionary in Pages for iPad not worki g

Instructions for adding a word to the spell dictionary in Pages for iPad say to double-tap the word. At that point you're supposed to be given the option to "define" the word, which I take to be adding it to the dictionary.
Double-tapping only gives me alternative spellings of the word. I don't get an option to define.
    What am I overlooking?
    Thanks,
    Eric Weir

    Not working for me, Demo.
Entering the words in settings would be cumbersome. I have a long document with many unfamiliar names and technical terms.
In Pages with spellcheck on unrecognized words are underlined in red. Tapping once highlights they word in a pinkish box. Tapping twice brings up a list of alternative words in a graphic display rather a text suggestion with option to dismiss. Tapping outside the suggestions graphic cancels it but does not seem to reject the suggestions, I.e., not in the sense that you are then given the option of accepting the word into the dictionary.
Help gives a procedure for doing this, but it does not work.
The document I'm working on is a finished document. No composition or editing required. I just need to get it formatted for publication. Most of the words another recognized by spellcheck, and there are many, need to be enter into the dictionary.
    Thanks,
    Eric

  • Pages on iPad not sending to the cloud

Updated the pages app on my mac and ipad. Documents on the mac pages; send to the cloud; but even after backing up my iPad; the documents in iPad Pages; still do not send to the cloud. Strange. Any ideas appreciated.
    Thanks

Have you enabled Pages on the iPad to use iCloud? In settings on your iPad scroll down to Apps & keep scrolling until you find Pages. Tap on Pages & make sure use iCloud is on.

  • Pages '08 does not import MS Word Page-breaks

Pages '08 imports MS Word 2004 for Mac documents without the page-breaks.
I love the Mac interface and really want to stop using MS software. I was hopeful with all the good press about Pages '08. I downloaded the 30-day trial and immediately discovered this glitch.
I must be able to exchange 300+ page manuscripts with MS Office users. If Pages cannot import the page-breaks in these documents, it's a deal-breaker for me. I'm not going to go through and re-insert 300+ page-breaks everytime I have to edit and return a document.

I've had the same problem as Jeffrey ... but with Appleworks 6 documents. I can import a small amount of Appleworks pages with hard page breaks (Insert Page Break) but when I try to import the entire 300 pages of my manuscript into Pages '08 the page breaks move up and are not where they should be. Also, many of my large Appleworks text manuscript files (no graphics) will not open in Pages '08. On top of that, the line spacing in Pages is a big headache,. I still am unable to place 11 lines on the first page of each Chapter (as I have done before in Appleworks with no problem). Sometimes it will give me 11, next time it will be 12. Hitting return once often moves two lines of type rather than one. Very frustrating. I have followed instructions and even added styles with my own template. I also used "Exact" spacing of 24 pt with my 12pt type because using double spacing is not even close to what double spacing is in Appleworks using the exact same font (Times New Roman, 12pt w/ 24pt spacing.) Any help will be appreciated (before I go back to Appleworks).

  • Pages on iPad not synching with iCloud

I have iCloud set up on my iPad. I have iCloud turned on in Pages. However, none of my files are uploading. All the Apple IDs and passwords are fine. Could it be I don't have the cellular plan turned on? I rely on my home wifi network.

OK... here's the low-down from Apple-care.  They put out the update, but it will cause pages (and keynote?, and ???) not to synch with iCloud.  They knew it... they put it out anyway, and it won't be fixed until they do the new, free update to Yosemite sometime later this month.  I did find an end-around though.  E-mail your document to yourself and open it up in pages.  Pain in the posterior... and certainly not Apple-Tech, but it is a workable solution until they fix their blunder.  Oh... did you update your iPad to 8.0.1 and it mess you up?  They pulled that and sent out 8.0.2.  Wow... I'd think i was back in PC land... Not cool.

  • Email sent from pages on ipad not being received?

I am trying to email a document I created on my ipad on the pages app, but it is not showing up in the recipients mailbox.  Help, please.

The verizon email users will need to go into the web mail and make sure that their email settings are not set to "delete incomming spam". If it is, those people will never even know you sent them an email. it needs to be set to "save spam in spam folder". now the spam still will not download to their email client but they will be able to go into the verizon web page and go to the spam folder. Then mark your emails as "not spam" and that should allow future emails to download to their email client.

  • Pages on iPad won't import Pages from my computer

    This makes me cross !
I have bought Pages for the iPad so I can open and edit Pages documents that I create on my office Mac.
However my iPad version will not import them because it will only import from files that are created with iWork 09 ! - my office Mac runs 08 and I'm perfectly happy with it.
I can see that the import screen on the iPad has correctly read the document I'm trying to open but it still refuses to actually import it.
    What ??
However it will open Word documents from software that is 10 years old.
This seems like a very cynical piece of marketing.
I am obliged to buy another copy of iWork to get my Mac to communicate with my iPad ??
    What are they thinking ?
Actually this makes me very cross

    David,
Use the Pages > Feedback menu item to let Apple know how you feel. We're just here to try to help you You have options:
Export from Pages '08 to Word and open on the iPad
Part with 20USD and put Pages '09 on your office computer.
My preference would be the second option. You've gotten your money's worth out of the iWork '08 purchase.

  • How do I avoid importing MS Word file duplicates in Pages for Ipad 2?

How do I avoid importing MS Word file duplicates in Pages for Ipad 2?

    Hi Cabrinii,
The sign on the door is a bit misleading, and you're not the first (or even the first in the last hour or so) to come to this Pages (Mac version) forum to ask a question about Pages for iOS.
Not many of us use iPad, so your question will be better served in the iWork for iOS community. The link will take you there.
    Regards,

Hi there, I have much files saved on pages ( ios ipad) , I just open it today and did not find .all the files !!!! Just 4!!! Taken in consider that I did not delete or making any wrong action. How I can return the lost files!!!! Help please
    its very important files!

    tis true
I know, I always do that but I was in a rush to get somewhere and I was relying on my thousand dollar Mac to do some kind of recovery or something. I know Microsoft always keeps temporary files (I think Mac does too, part of me asking here in this forum was for someone to tell me where I can find those files) and when you go to open Office Works then it gives you the option of opening the last recent documents, saved or not saved.
I usually copy paste into my emial just in case something goes wrong with the created document but I just didn't have the time to login and do all that My loss, you live and you learn, BUT still if ANYONE got any info on this, PLEASE DO CHIME IN *keeping the hope alive*

  • Specific Pages document will not sync to iPad?

I have a document which I created in Pages on my iPad, which is using iCloud for document storage. When I updated to Mountain Lion and the latest Pages for Mac, this document - and another I had imported from a Word document, both in the same iCloud folder - did not initially appear, though both could be in iCloud found when using the search function within Pages for Mac. I edited the document on my Mac.
Afterwards, I found that folder did not appear in Pages on either my iPhone or iPad. After editing that document and moving it to another folder with older documents in it, it reappeared on my iPhone, but not on my iPad. I have tried everything I can think of short of restoring the iPad from backup: editing various documents or moving them, both from the iPad and my other devices, to try and provoke a refresh on the iPad; turning iCloud usage off and back on, so that all doucments are downloaded again; removing Pages from the iPad altogether, then reinstalling it; even temporarily turning off iCloud backup of Pages on the iPad before reinstalling it, to make sure it's downloading an outdated backup of the files instead of accessing what's currently on iCloud.
No matter what I do, that document - of course the one I most need to work on - appears in iCloud on icloud.com, my iPhone and my Mac when looking at Pages docs, but not on the iPad. It does appear in the list of Pages documents if I go into "Manage Storage" under iCloud -> Storage & Backup in Settings on the iPad, but I cannot access it via the Pages app.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? Given everything else I've tried I have a hard time believing it will be fixed by restoring to a backup, and I'm worried about versioning problems if I try and import it on the iPad (by emailing it to myself or similar).

If you are able to move the document to your desktop on your Mac, you should do so. Then delete all references to that document in the iCloud on your mobile devices, at iCloud.com and if necessary from system preferences> iCloud> manage.
Once you are sure it has been removed from all locations, try adding it back using a slightly different filename, from your desktop.

  • After upgrading to Yosemite (I don't have iPhoto anymore, only PHOTOS) my pictures will not import from my iPad or iPhone 5s or any picture from web, it shows "Database Error: failured to persist version"

After upgrading to Yosemite (I don't have iPhoto anymore, only PHOTOS) my pictures will not import from my iPad or iPhone 5s or any picture from web, it shows "Database Error: failured to persist version".  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Sorry,
Yes, the error message is exactly like that  ("Database error: failured to persist version")
No photos will import at all.  I use USB to import from iPhone 5s or iPad 2.
About the difference?  iPhoto and Photos .  Are there two softwares?
I also will like to merge and/or synchronize all my photos I had saved to iCloud backups, Macbook Pro,  iPhone 5s and iPad hard drives using iPhoto.  It's call iPhoto library.  At one point I turned off streaming.
    Thanks again Larry HN.

  • I can not import photos from PC to my Ipad, it says iTunes will no longer sync photos to the iPad

I can not import photos from my PC to the iPad, it says  iTunes will no longer sync photos to the iPad

YES Terence!  Thank you. Exporting allowed me to move my photos from iPhoto into the Burn Folder on my desktop.   But that doesn't explain why I'm having to go that route now.   Have I done something (accidentally changed some setting) on my computer that will not allow me to just click and drag anymore?   I really liked the convenience of the click and drag option.
I don't have the time tonight to export and burn a lot of CD/DVDs.  I'll try that tomorrow and make sure my photos are moving properly.  I also need to export photos to my external hard drive to make sure that route is working.
Wouldn't you know that my Apple Care Plan runs out this Wednesday?!  I need to make sure everything is working properly before that expires.
Thank you so much for your help.   I really, really appreciate it.

I’m applying for jobs online through my iPad using the safari app. For
some reason when I try to attach my resume, which I have saved in
Pages, it does not give me an option to go to Pages. It only gives
my an option to choose a file from photos. Does it not have the
capability to choose a location other than photos??

No. Safari does not have the option to attach files for uploading other than photos.
Look at iCab Mobile in the App Store. There are other browsers that may do this, but I'm pretty sure that iCab will fill the need.
iCab Mobile (Web Browser) on the App Store on iTunes
    take a look at this.
