Pages palette problems cs4

The pages palette behaves silly.
On the right, some page icons are not showing up.
E.g. the palette shows pages 1 to 13 but not 14 to 17.
On the left of the palette I can see again pages 18-19, 20-21 etc. (2th row)
Also the icons in the corner right down are gone (to create, delete a page, etc.)
Resizing does not fix this.
When upgrading to 6.0.1, it was fixed for a while, but now the problem is there again.
What can be wrong?
(CS4 - Windows XP SP3 - Dell dimension 9200 - NVidia GeForce 7900 GS 256 MB - dual screen flat panels 24 inch & 19 inch)

Think I found a solution - or better: a workaround for it.
When I delete the Indesign defaults, the problem stays.
But when I delete the InDesign SavedData file
(it is in C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\InDesign\Version 6.0\en_GB\Caches)
the problem is gone.
Maybe this can help to find out what really causes this problem - and find a better solution to avoid it?

Pages Palette Problem

Hi all.
I opened InDesign CS2 the other day and encountered this strange look to the pages palette. THough I've reset the workspace to default, changed my screen resolution, played with the Palette options, I can't get the palette to resize so I can see all the pages in the document. I usually have it set vertical. The pages icons are way off to the right at the edge of the box. I usually can't see the 2nd page in the spread.
Anyone have an idea what this is doing and how to fix it?

Also, I see this problem occur when I put the pages panel (no longer called palette since CS3 on) on a second monitor. Is that the situation with you?

Palette Problems CS4 InDesign

I have previously written about this problem a year ago but have lived with it. We just rebuilt my computer and were put on to windows 7 64bit to try to help with our Adobe CS4 Suite gliches and random other issues.
It was completed on Dec. 6th and now Dec 14th it has returned
Hopefully getting off the PC platform and upgrading to CS5 but not for another year.
I can delete my program preferences and cache but it is really annoying to have to reset everytime. Besides the problem seems to rear its ugly head again within a few days.
Is there a techinical explanation on what is going on or another way to fix?

yes still have 2 monitors running. usually float my palettes to the right one and have the program window open on my left. When I move my palettes to the left monitor it stops that crazy snapping closed thing. I wish I could video it because it is so fast and odd, not just the normal snapping to close up the palette. But my icons always remain missing.
the monitors say they are on their reccommended size: 1280x1024

Again my issue was before all of this...
I work with 2 other designers (so 3 total in our room) It seems once this starts on my computer then since we work on a server the files than corrupt the other designers palettes.
We are an international company and have files coming from and sending to other countries and designers...could something be happening there??

Document page numbers in pages palette?

I just jumped from CS to CS5. I work in magazine spreads most of the time and would like the pages palette to reflect my document page numbering. All I can get it to show is 1, 2, 3, etc. with 1 starting on the LEFT page of the thumbnail spread, whereas the my document spreads always start on EVEN-numbered (left) pages. I have no trouble numbering the document itself any way I want, it's just the palette. Was not a problem in CS, it always showed my document page numbers below the thumbs. Is there a menu setting I am not finding?

Can you post a screen capture of your Pages Panel (they officially became panels instead of palettes in CS4, or maybe CS3)? Use the little camera icon on the web screen to embed it in your post.
The only things that's changed significantly about the Pages Panel/Palette is the addition of page thumbnails, so if you aren't seeing page numbers that match the numbers assigned (if you are viewing section numbering rather than absolute numbering -- a preference choice), then there is something wrong with the program. The first step with oddities like this is to Replace Your Preferences

Pages palette mixup

Hi all.
ID CS4 ME
I have an English document that goes from left to right, in the document itself the pages are good, i.e. page 1 is on the right side and page 2 is on left side and page 3 is on the right side and so on, but in the pages palette they're mixed up as you can see in the image grab, page 2 is on the right side and page 3 is on the left side, what do I do here?

Pages Palette snapping closed

I have had this problem previously that has been fixed by deleting my cache and preferences. I tried also saving the file out as an .inx with no luck! Any other suggestions?
Basically this is the problem:
Open a indd CS4 file and the pages palette snapps closed when I try to click on it to do anything - Enlarge the preview, view the page thumnail icons or the master page icons.
All icons at the bottom of the pages palette as well as the scroll bar on the side of the pages palette is also missing.
I'll upload a screen shot as of the pages palette.

That´s correct way... you may have to re-install InDesign... read following artice before that, in case you have problems with user rights...

Can't save as multi-page PDF in CS4

Hey everyone, I'm having major trouble with page tiling in CS4.
I have a CS2 file that has two pages in it with page tiling enabled, I saved this as a PDF with multiple pages just fine out of CS2. I now have it open in CS4 and am unable to do the same thing, my PDF always comes out as one long page. I can't work with multiple artboards because the file will be used in CS2 again and needs to remain backwards compatible.
In the Print Dialogue I have "Tile" set to "Full Pages", the print preview window on the left shows me two pages, just the way it should be.
Once I go into the Save as PDF Dialogue in CS4, I do not have the "Create Multi-Page PDF from page tiling" - option that is there in CS2 in the general tab.
I've been trying to find a solution for the past two hours but am at my wit's end. I'd greatly appreciate some help.

Just draw two artboards where the tiles would be then save it as a pdf. I should open in CS 2 without the artboards since CS 2 does not support artboards.
Nothing will be different in CS2.
Or simply make a copy for CS 4 with artboards and one for CS 2 but adding artboards to the CS 2 file when opned in CS 4 should be a problem.

Weird Links and Pages Palette "Glitch"

I keep my palettes docked, and have noticed a really weird "glitch" with the Links and Pages palettes. I keep them at the top, as often I am re-using a document and updating content to a new date, with new links and new info in the page template. Below them, I have several other palettes docked (Swatches, Character Styles, etc.). Well, when one of my palette panels has Links or Pages active, all the other palette panels creep down incrementally whenever I select something new.
For example, the Character Styles palette was about 2" tall on screen, I selected a different section of text, then it was 1.8" tall. Upon selecting something else, it was 1.6" tall.
This only happens when Links or Pages is open in a palette panel group. Doesn't matter where they are, or which panel group, if either of those is open, the all the other palette panel groups incrementally get smaller.
It's so weird! At first I thought I was going crazy. I would make my Character Styles palette a certain height so I could see several styles, and slowly I would only be able to see one style. Which is a little irritating and disruptive to my work flow.
Sure, it's easy enough to make a different palette active, but during the updating process described above, it is realy helpful to have the Links palette open.
Anybody else have this same problem and/or know how to fix it?
I am running CS5 (ID version 7.0.4) and Mac OSX 10.6.8, 2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon processors, with about 8GB of RAM. All patches are up to date.

My palettes are different. Sometimes when I minimimize them to tabs, little by little they try to hide behind one another, until after they are all huddled together at the side with only the bravest ones visible.
I have no fix, except to reset the workspace every few days.

8800GT palette problems?

I just received my 8800GT upgrade for my "original" Mac Pro. I had seen a couple of instances of the palette getting "screwed up" after a long period of time, which I thought might be a problem with heating (my 1900XT had all sorts of problems). Looking over the posts here, I saw a number of people with the exact same problem, a green-cyan color showing up in lines around the screen.
However, the problem seemed to go away and I hadn't seen it again. Until just now. My screen saver kicked in and when I shook the mouse to wake it up again, the palette problem was back.
Can anyone else with an 8800 confirm or deny this problem? I'm on a 1 GB dual 266 Mac Pro.

Icon page view:
Not that I want the image of the icon to actually change/scale in size....I visually see no page icons in my palette. The only way I can see the page icon is if I drag the bottom right corner all the way across my screen. Then they appear on the right hand side of the palette. If I only have the palette open half an inch or so it looks like I have no pages in my document.
Snapping closed:
This only seems to happen to my top dock. My other palettes in lower docks (stokes, color, swatches, etc...) do not snap closed.
I'll try to discribe the best I can since I don't know what is going on with my image. I have my palettes icon view only in 1 long skinny palette menu bar. Inside the long palette it is divided up. The top section is pages, links, layers. The next section is stoke, color, swatches, gradient. The next section is text, paragraph, chara styles, text wrap, glyphs.
I'm working in the icon only view of my palettes, but I've also tried icon and text view of the palettes. When I work with all palettes expanded they do not snap closed
Preferences:
Tried deleteing preferences to fix problems with no aveil. Just have to wait for an update I guess. Just weird because I work with 4 other designers who have not have as much problems as mine recently. Should I consider reintalling?

Relocating Pages palette

In Pagemaker the Pages palette went across the bottom of the screen. Is there a way I can do that in InDesign?

Sure, at least in CS4 where I just tried it, you can, more or less.I tore the Pages panel off of its "docked" position, moved it to the bottom of the screen, resized it to my liking, clicked on the options dingus in the upper-right hand corner of the panel, and turned off all of the "display pages vertically" checkboxes. It's been a while since I used PageMaker, but this is vaguely what I recall it looking like.

Pages Palette constantly redraws.

Using CC 2014 with a photo heavy layout of 56 pages. EVERY TIME I go to a new page the pages palette redraws and hangs ID until it is complete. If I make even a minor move, it redraws and nothing happens until it is complete. I can't even change to another palette. I finally changed the display properties of the graphics to fast in the preferences and that worked but I'm not sure that is a real solution. Suggestions?

Page palette appears to be very strange in Indesign (and don't know how to fix it)

So one day, my Page Palette just went cuckoo in Indesign.The bottom area, where you can normally delete, add, or shows you how many pages there are, or the very lower right scretch corner are all missing. I've tried to go to Palette options and see it is a "View" issue, but nothing seems to bring those functions back.
This could either be something Very simple and I am an idiot, or it is something alot more major, which I am praying it's not.

IF Form region AND report + search tool in same page THEN = problem

Helllo everybody
I posted an initial and now the advanced as I received helpful comments but still is unsolved:
Problem:
If I have a Form, and a Report With a Search feature on the same page the problem is that when I click on the button of Search to find records in the Report, the page reloads as it goes and returs to the server. Alright, however, that reloading causes the Form to submit data while there is no data because I was not working with the Form. When the report gets the "submission of the Form" it receives all empty data and it complains as it cannot have Null values in its rows.
Solution:
The thing would be to tell the form not to submit anything unless expressley pressed the button Create or Save. It seems that these buttons activate when the page is reloaded I mean reloaded by haiving pressed the button Search of the Reports region.
The helpful comments were in the direction of going to Processes, Automatic Row Processing and then choosing a conditional for processing of the Form, that it, it would only activate (submit itself if that condition is met)
So I go to PL/SQL Function body Returning a boolean and I paste this: RETURN :REQUEST IN('SAVE','CREATE');
but the problem continues unsolved, that doesnt help. It must be very close but there is something I am missing

There is an option of embedding index for faster search while converting email to a PDF .
However I am not sure that will serve your purpose or not .
I would recommend you to get in touch with Microsoft support as well .
Meanwhile I'll work on it and get back to you in case I get a desired solution .
